Pattern search using Bex parameter in Crystal

How to get the results using a Bex query filter for Pattern search with Crystal.
While pattern search works fine with the variable defined in Bex analyzer but when I attach it to a Crystal report, it doesnt seem to work.
Bex variable has input like "IBM*", which works fine with Bex analyzer but the same input via Crystal doesnt fetch data.
Thanks in advance,
Venkat

Hi Ingo,
I am aware of the Select Expert, but that will make the parameter to be created in Crystal, so its going to be filtering from the recordset returned by Bex.
This tight dependency on Bex is making it difficult.
Thanks,
Venkat

This is not really the correct forum to be posting Reports issues. However, if I were to guess, your issue is likely related to the known issues related to installing FMw11R1 on machines which had IPv6 enabled. In most cases, disabling IPv6 would correct the problem, however some issues were not resolved even after disabling IPv6 post-install. I would recommend patching to WLS 10.3.6 and FMw 11.1.1.6 as these versions include fixes for all of those issues as far as I recall.

  • How to use dynamic parameter when a report is created using Stored Procedures

    Hi all,
any one have the idea of how to use dynamic parameter in crystal report XI R2
when report is created using Stored Procedure.
    Regards
    shashi kant chauhan

    Hi
You can create an SQL command in Database Expert > Expand your datasource > Add command
Then enter the SQL query that will create the list of values to supply to the user
    eg select field1,field2 from table
Then edit the parameter of the report.  These will be the SP parameters adn can be seen in field explorer.
Change the parameter type to Dynamic
Under the word Value click on Click here to add item
Scroll down to your Command and select one of the values that you want to appear in the list
    e.g field1
Then click on the Parameters field - this is essential to create the param
You can edit other options as required
That should do it for you.
I must say that i use CR 2008 connected to Oracle 10g SP, but i reckon this will work for SQL DB and CR XI as well
    Best of luck

  • 4.x: Document Link passing range parameter to a WebI rpt using BEx query

I'm new to working with BEx queries, so I may use the wrong terminology.  I'm trying to create a document hyperlink from one WebI report to another.  Both are based on BEx queries, which I didn't create, nor do I have access to modify.  The BEx query for the target report has a parameter, Fiscal year/period, which is a range parameter.  The displayed value in a report or in pick lists is in the format "JUL 2010".  The key is in the format "K4/007/2010".
I have tried using the Document Link expert to configure passing the range parameter, but have been unsuccessful.  The typical result is an error message, ERR_WIS_30270, which is most likely the result of an incorrect format for passing the range.  I've not been able to locate adequate documentation that describes the syntax for passing a range value to a BEx parameter.  I've successfully created Document Links to reports using BEx queries that have a parameter that requires a single value, and I've done Document links in non-Bex reports in 3.1 without issues.
Has anyone successfully passed a range value to a BEx paramter?   If so, what syntax did you use?
The environment is BI 4.0, sp 2 (14.0.2.439)

    Marianne,
Thanks for the heads up on the fixpack.  I tried looking at the note # you sent, but a search of SAP Notes says that the note has not been released.  However, reviewing the Fixed Issues in fixpack 6 shows the following item:
    ADAPT01580012
Link to a WebIntelligence report using syntax OpenDocument fails when target document contains a prompt
based on a BEx variable of type Interval. Error message is "An internal error occurred while calling
    'answerPromptEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)".
Behavior is now correct and refresh operation takes into account interval answer passed in OpenDocument URL.
Now we just need to upgrade to fp 2.6 to see if it resolves this issue.  I've also opened a ticket with support, so I'll see what they say.

  • How to use Dynamic cascading parameter in crystal Report XI ?

    Hi,
I want to use Dynamic cascading parameter in crystal Report XI which is to be viewed through the infoview without using the Business View.Is it possible?
I could implemented Dynamic cascading parameter using the CR XI developer without using Business View, but cannot view the report when uploaded it to BOXI, through infoview.
    Please suggest..
    Thanks in advance..

In the crystal reports field explorer>right click on parameter field>create new-->name the parameter field and select the type as dynamic. Now in the value field click the row and add the database field also add another field below that by clicking on the next row so..on. The order should be like this parent field first and then child field next...... Also click on the last column to add parmater for each level.

  • Dynamic Parameter Issue - Crystal XI

I've been working in 9 and 10 for a couple of years, and have recently moved to 11 to create some reports for a client.  I have an issue with creating a dynamic parameter in Crystal 11 - it won't allow me to select dynamic (as in the radio button is grayed out).  I've searched through the options, created RDO and DAO connections to both the Access database and the Xtreme Sample database, all to no avail.  Any thoughts or suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Ian

After searching, I stumbled across the answer in this document: [XI Features by Version|http://www.businessobjects.com/pdf/products/crystalreports/crxi_feat_ver_ed.pdf]
It strikes me as a little odd, in the Comprehensive formating and Design Control section it lists "Parameter fields" as available for all versions, but in the Report Viewing and Interaction section it lists "Dynamic and Cascading Prompts" as available only in Developer and Pro ... it even identifies at the end of the document that "Dynamic and Cascading Prompts can be viewed, but cannot be designed in the Standard Edition".
So, this begs the next question, if I create a report using parameters based on a database column in Crystal 10, then open it in Crystal XI, will the dynamic prompts work?  I may have to try...

  • Performance Issue Executing a BEx Query in Crystal Report E 4.0

    Dear Forum
I'm working for a customer with big performance issue Executing a BEx Query in Crystal via transient universe.
When query is executed directly against BW via RSRT query returns results in under 2 seconds.
When executed in crystal, without the use of subreports multiple executions (calls to BICS_GET_RESULTS) are seen. Runtimes are as long as 60 seconds.
The Bex query is based on a multiprovider without ODS.
The RFC trace shows BICS connection problems, CS as BICS_PROV_GET_INITIAL_STATE takes a lot of time.
I checked the note 1399816 - Task name - prefix - RSDRP_EXECUTE_AT_QUERY_DISP, and itu2019s not applicable because the customer has the BI 7.01 SP 8 and it has already
domain RSDR0_TASKNAME_LONG in package RSDRC with the
description: 'BW Data Manager: Task name - 32 characters', data
type: CHAR; No. Characters: 32, decimal digits: 0
data element RSDR0_TASKNAME_LONG in package RSDRC with the
description 'BW Data Manager: Task name - 32 characters' and the
                previously created domain.
    as described on the message
Could you suggest me something to check, please?
    Thanks en advance

    Hi,
It would be great if you would quote the ADAPT and tell the audience when it is targetted for a fix.
Generally speaking, CR for Enteprise  isn't as performant as WebI,  because uptake was rather slow .. so i'm of the opinion that there is improvements to be gained.   So please work with Support via OSS.
My onlt recommendations can be :
    - Patch up to P2.12 in bi 4.0
    -  Define more default values on the Bex query variables.
    - Implement this note in the BW 1593802    Performance optimization when loading query views

  • Want to use one parameter of first command into second parameter.

    Hi, Experts,
Please help me out I am stuck in a crystal report. Actually i have written two commands in crystal report.
    first one is as follows:-
    Select * from oinv T0 inner join inv1 T1 on T0.DocEntry = T1.DocEntry Where T0.DocNum = {?Invoice No}
    Second One is as follows:-
    Select * from ibt1_Link Where BaseNum = {?Invoice No}
What i want is I am passing Parameter in both Command Which took Invoice no as an input, So i don't want to input ttwo parameter both for invoice no. can i use first parameter in my second command or not. If Yes then please tell me.How can i do the same.

Have you tried joining your commands on the basenum = docnum fields? That should filter the second command?

  • How to use a parameter field value as a substring in a "like" statement?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to use a parameter field in a Record selection formula where the parameter field value would be a substring of the data stored in the field.
My parameter field (SlctResearcher) is constructed as follows:
    Type: string
    List of Values: static
    Value Field: (Reports) RptAuthors
(in Value Options) Allow custom values?: True
    {Reports.PubDate} in DateTime (2009, 04, 01, 00, 00, 00) to DateTime (2010, 03, 31, 23, 59, 59) and
    {Reports.RptAuthors} like "*{?SlctResearcher}*"
When I hit F5 to generate the data, I get no results (and the parameter prompt field does not even come up...)
If I modify the formula to put a hard-coded string, like
    "*Jones*"
after the 'like', I get results (all the reports where "Jones" is a substring in the RptAuthors string.) If I modify the formula to just use the parameter field without the quotes/stars like:
    {Reports.PubDate} in DateTime (2009, 04, 01, 00, 00, 00) to DateTime (2010, 03, 31, 23, 59, 59) and
    {Reports.RptAuthors} like {?SlctResearcher}
I do get the parameter prompt field, but still no results even if I put in a valid substring value (since it is not searching for a substring anymore...)
    How can I do this?
    Thanks,
    Will

1st thing... Make a copy of your report before doing anything!!!
To use a SQL Command, you'll want to open the Database Expert and look at the Current Connections. Expand the data source and the 1st option you see is the Add Command option.
To find the SQL That CR is currently using, choose Database from the menu bar and select Show SQL Query...
You can copy this and paste it directly into the command window. (If you you can write your own SQL you don't need copy CR's, it's just an option.)
You'll also want to take not of any parameters that you have, you'll need to add them the the Parameter List of the command as well... be sure to spell them EXACTLY as they are in the design pane.
Anyway, once the SQL statement is in the Command window you'll be able to alter the WHERE clause to use the wild cards.
For future reference... What type of database are you reporting against???

  • HR ABAP: Issue with using 'nocommit' parameter on FM HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION

Issue with using nocommit parameter on FM HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION:
My client has a requirement to create the following 4 infotypes in sequence in a LUW, i.e either all are created or none is created.
    9045   (custom infotype)
    0045
    0078
    0015
I tried to use the nocommit parameter on FM HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION to insert the 4 infotypes
in a nocoomit mode and then at the end I have issued
'Commit Work', but to my surprise only I/T 0015 is created in the database and the first three (9045, 0045 and 0078) did not make it to database.
I searched many threads on SDN but could not find a solution.
Please let me know if there could be any solution to implement the LUW.
    YOur inputs will be appreciated.

    Hi ,
i think u can also try with this FM HR_MAINTAIN_MASTERDATA , see its documentations.
no commit works like a simulation mode , what u can do is  ,
call FM for all Infotypes and collect all error msgs if any , then finally call FM for all infotypes again without passing nocommit work ( i.e space).

  • How do you perform partial word search using PDF Open Parameters?

    Hello,
We are using the 'search=' open parameter in the URL string, which open a PDF and automatically searches for a word within the PDF.  It works great for whole word searches. Unfortunately, it does not work for partial word, or phrases. In other words, if I'm searching on '123456' and there is a word in the document that is '1234567', it will not find the partial word, or first 6 characters of the 7 character word. You can perform a partial or phrased search using the advance search feature of Adobe Reader.  So, currently after the PDF opens, and shows no hits on the automatic search for '123456', we are able to manually search again for a partial word search, and then see matches in the document.  Is there any way to specify to use a whole or partial word search when using the 'search=' open parameter, so that we can automatically match on partial and whole words?  Something like 'search=123456*'?

It never worked that way. Command-F shows the page search bar.

You could use an Oracle Text context index with a wordlist to speed up substring searches and return all rows that match any of your criteria, combined with a case statement to provide a ranking that can be ordered by within an inner query, then use rownum to limit the rows in an outer query.  You could also use the first_rows(n) hint to speed up the return of limited rows.  Please see the demonstration below.  If you decide to use Oracle Text, you may want to ask further questions in the Oracle Text sub-forum on this forum or space or whatever they call it now.

  • Question on using a Parameter against an Oracle date field

    Post Author: klkemp100
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
newbie here just getting started in Crystal Reports v11.0
writing a report to go against an oracle view. i need the report to use a parameter that the user enters to select a specific date.
i went through the database expert and keyed in my own sql since i first tested this via TOAD and know that the sql works fine with a hard-coded date etc.
next i created a parameter and set it first up as a DATE but got the message that FAILED TO RETRIEVE DATA FROM THE DATABASE, even though I know that there is data to retrieve and i have previously retrieved it when the selection date is hard-coded in the query.
i then changed the field type in the view to be a VARCHAR2 and changed the parameter to be a STRING, but am still getting the same thing.
is there something special about using dates and parameters within crystal against oracle?
thanks in advance for your help.

CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
you also may check the date format , oracle maybe excpecting you to send the parameter in some format and you are sending it into another format
if both are type dates in report and database you can use this
    where to_date(to_char(mytable.my_date_field,'dd/mm/yyyy'),'dd/mm/yyyy') = to_date(to_char(,'your_format'),'dd/mm/yyyy')
you may use this in a free hand SQL
    good luck

  • Problems using Dynamic parameters with Crystal Reports and SBO 8.8

Has anyone been able to successfully use a dynamic parameter in Crystal Reports with 8.8 using the Business One connector? When we try we get an additional logon to the database that pops up and the logon fails.
We need this because we want to return live lists of PO documents from the server for selection. We are also trying to use nested dynamic parameters, because we want to first return the PO document based on the PO number, and then chose specific rows based on a field value in POR1.
It works if we don't use the Business One connector, but then the report doesn't function properly inside of SAP.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have tried using tokens but they are too simple. I need something like a subselect where you first select one value and then another that is a subset of those values. Apparently the tokens can't even use a "where" clause.
SAP dances around Dynamic parameters, but won't come out and say that they can't be used with the B1 connector. If that is the case then they should just say so and stop wasting our time. Apparently Crystal is not truely interfaced with B1, just sort of hanging out with it.
I don't really care other than I have to do this select, subselect. If someone has a way to do that with tokens I would love to hear it.
    Thanks,
    Roy
