Pause imported swf when Captivate movie is paused

Hello,
I have created several small swf-animations (e.g. textboxes
flying in) which I use in a captivate movie. This works fine,
however, when the movie is paused and then continuied, the
swf-animations on the slide start over again. I have noticed that
the swf-animations that come with Captivate don't show this
behaviour. What's the (actionscript?) trick?
Thanks for your suggestions.
Jan

This problem stumped everyone...I was on the phone with
Raptivity for DAYS!! here is the solution they proposed which seems
to work......
Step 1: Open a Blank project and click on
‘Insert-Animation’. Browse for the swf file of
Raptivity and click OK.
Step 2: Save this project.(Create a new folder for this
project on some location on your machine.)
Step 3: Select Edit > Preferences.
a. In the Publish Settings option of the Project menu, select
Animations in the Externalize Resources list.
b. In the General Settings option of the Global menu, browse
for the saved folder (under Default locations) of Captivate’s
project and click on OK.
Step 4: Now click on ‘Insert-Animation’ and
browse for the fix.swf file (attached along with this mail) and
click on OK.
Step 5: Select Edit > Preferences.
a. In the Publish Settings option of the Project menu, select
Animations in the Externalize Resources list.
b. In the General Settings option of the Global menu, browse
for the saved folder (under Default locations) of Captivate’s
project and click on OK.
Step 6: Publish the file. To do so, click on the menu
File-Publish and ensure you publish this in the same folder of
Captivate’s project.
Finished !!! you have successfully integrated Raptivity into
Captivate directly.

  • Closing swfs in captivate movie

I am frantically trying to figure out how not to get a
javascript erro rwhen my animation ends inside my captivate movie.
how to I close the swf adn still elt the user navigate to the next
    captivate screen?
    Please help!
    thanks,
    francie

    Hi francie
I have no clue as to how what terrence wood is suggesting
will help here. From what I surmise based off what you posted, you
have inserted an animation or possibly even another Captivate movie
on a slide in an existing movie? And somehow you want to know how
to close the .SWF that is sitting on the slide? If I'm correct in
what I understand you are trying to do, my guess is that it isn't
possible. Why? Well, if you were able to close the .SWF on the
slide, you would probably also close the whole movie. My guess is
that this is why you are seeing JavaScript errors.
I'm thinking that you should probably configure the end
option to simply stop. For the movies that are on the slides, that
is. This also assumes you are placing other Captivate movies on the
slides. If you are instead placing other animation, I haven't a
clue what to advise, other than to possibly adjust timing.
Hopefully this helped in some way... Rick

  • Importing SWFs into Captivate

Help! I have a swf (flash movie) I am importing into
Captivate 3. The swf (flash movie) is 6 frames. I need the movie to
start on page 2 with the option of selecting the previous and/or
next buttons (also set up within that movie).
Right now if it displays on page 2/6, 3/6, through to 6/6
...I have no way of getting back to the previous pages. Hope this
makes sense. I am just trying everything I can or know to get this
    working.
    Using ActionScript 2 - Flash 8

Hi All - I made the adjustments as noted above. Published at
30fps and Action Script 1.0. Checked transparency. Tried loading
from top and bottom in Flash publish settings. Still no luck.
I tried some other experiments as well. I right clicked on
the animation and tried moving to front / back etc. with no change
in results. But, when I merged the animation with slide background
... i could see an image of my swf in the published and preview
versions. But, it was static - not playing.

  • Importing swf from Captivate 3

Hi, has anyone imported a single swift file that contains its
own playback control into Presenter from a Captivate 3 published
    file?
Currently when you publish from Cap 3 two files are created
xxx.swf and xxx_skin.swf... Importing both into Presenter does not
    work either.
The idea is to have a voice over and points on the left side
of the slide and then on the right have the swf file with its own
playback control for the user to manually play after the voice
    over.

By turning off the 'borders' in the Skin option will only
    publish one swf file.

  • Importing my finished Captivate movie to Presenter

I have a finished project in Captivate. I published and now
would like to intergrate it into Adobe Presenter. I followed the
instructions on how to import the movie and it worked but it
imported the entire movie into 1 slide. I was expecting to see 21
separate slides. These 21 slides is what makes up my finished
    captivate project.
    I would appreciate any feedback.

Since the project is now a swf file, Your published Captivate
project will only display on one slide. If you want your Captivate
project to appear on more than one slide, you would have to publish
each and every slide as a a new project.

  • Import swf into captivate 5

    Hello,
I am new to Captivate 5, my scenario is - I want to publish videos (swf) files on our help desk. Previously all such files were part of HTML pages which require registration.Importantly I got all those flash files by getting the path of the file from HTML pages (eg. I opened the source of HTML page and navigated to where the swf file is mentioned and cut paste it)
    - Can I open existing swf files into Captivate 5
    Regards
    Syed

    Welcome to our community
Are you asking if Captivate will allow you to click File > Open and open one of these files and allow you to make edits to it?
If so, the answer is no, it will not allow that. You should be able to insert one of these files as an animation on a slide, but how well that may or may not work will depend on a number of factors.

  • How stop imported ppt animations from getting out of sync when  captivate 4 is paused?

When we pause captivate 4, the imported power point animations keep going. We import power point slides into Captivate 4, then import audio into Captivate and set the animation timings ("after previous" -no clicks - video is set to automatic forward)  in ppt to synch with the audio. We also add Captivate popups etc. After we publish, when the pause button is used, Captivate pauses and the audio pauses but the power point animations get out of synch - the ppt animation timings do not seem to recognize the pause. How can we fix this?

    Ruth,
I have been able to fix the problem with adding a second on each slide.  So all but 7 of my slides now are in sync.  I had one slide change, not play its narration as the narration from the previous slide finished.  And then it move on to the next slide.  According to the manual, you can adjust the speed of the slide transition.  So I am playing with the timeline for each slide.  I am almost there.  I didn't have any change of slides after the first transition to almost perfect synchronization with all but 7 slides out of 60, including one skip over.  It seems each problem solved creates a new problem. I fixed resolution by adjusting the resolution settings. I enabled the variable showing of the slide based on the narration, rather than the default 3 seconds.  So I am making progress.

  • Video playback pauses/freezes when I move my T500... also keeps dropping wireless connection...

Video playback in Windows Media, Quicktime and in Firefox (youtube, etc.) pauses when I physically move my laptop. I've never had this happen on any other laptop. Any suggestions?
Another annoying problem is that it drops the wireless connection in my home every couple of minutes. This doesn't happen with any of the other 3 laptops I'm running so it's not my ISP or router.
    Thanks for any help!

The ThinkPad Active Protection System (APS) will protect the Hard Drive when you move your ThinkPad, and this probably causing the behaviour you are observing.  There are options for disabling APS for particular purposes, so you should have a look in the APS options... look in the ThinkVantage folder on your Start menu.
Regarding your WiFi issues, you need to make sure that all the relevant power managment settings for WiFi are set to Maximum Performance (or similar).  This has been covered in numerous messages here already. so a few minutes with the serach function should provide you with more details.

  • Widget API make a widget change when captivate is paused/resumed

Hi, having an issue with Captivate 5. I'm trying to have an AS3 widget with a listener for when Captivate is paused or resumed. I found some documentation for the widget API, but I can't figure out how, or find an example of how to implement a lister like this in Flash.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Not sure if the Widget API you're referring to is WidgetFactory or the older Adobe API, but you should be able to find plenty of information about what to do here:

  • Importing & controlling external .swf in Captivate 5

    Hi,
I have a main file built in Captivate 5. This file  has static slides with text and graphics, in one slide, I have to insert a demo  which is smaller in dimension.
So I have recorded this demo as a separate Captivate file  and published as .swf.
I  have then imported this demo .swf in the main Captivate file as  Insert > Animation.
But I am not able to control this demo(Play/Pause, Slider)  by the main Captivate control bar.
    Please help me regarding this.
    Regards,
    Sachin

    Hi,
Please publish the demo as FLV/F4V instead of swf.
Insert the FLV into the main Captivate movie as FLV object - Insert FLV or F4V file.
In the Properties panel for the FLV, Select
    Skin - None
Timing -> Rest of slide. Uncheck "Pause slide till end of video" option.
    Check "Synchronize with  Project option".
    Preview the movie.
Now it is possible to control the Play/Pause of the embedded FLV from the main Captivate movie timeline.
Do let me know if this helps.
    Thanks,
    Sushma

  • Imported SWF actionscript not working in _root movie...

    Hello.
I will tell you below what I want to accomplish, then I'll
tell you what I have done (that didn't work). I'm hoping that
someone here can tell me where I went wrong, and also how to fix it
and pull off what I'm trying to do. Thanks!...
    WHAT I WANT TO DO:
I want to have a Captivate SWF loaded into the bottom half of
a main Flash "shell" SWF, and then when the Captivate SWF is done
playing, a text field on the main "shell" SWF puts the word "DONE!"
    in it.
WHAT I HAVE DONE (that didn't work):
I have a Flash SWF that loads a Captivate3 SWF in its bottom
half (that works fine). The top half of the main Flash movie has a
dynamic text field on it called "doneText_txt".
I then made another SWF that is just 10x10px and all that is
on it is ActionScript on the first frame that says:
    _root.doneText_txt.text = "DONE!";
I then went on the last slide/frame of my Captivate project
(in Captivate) and did an "Insert-->Animation" to insert that
small 10x10 SWF onto that final slide.
When I load that main "shell" and then the Captivate project
loads at the bottom and finishes playing, nothing is displayed in
    the "doneText_txt" text box.
    THINGS I NOTICED:
When I imported the SWF into Captivate, it was transparent
(didn't show up). I adjusted the transparency on it (in Captivate)
to both 0% and 100%, and it still didn't show up. I thought that it
may be just because it had nothing on it (just the default white
background), so I went back into Flash and re-exported the 10x10
SWF after filling it with black. I re-imported it into Captivate,
and still it didn't show up. Like, I figured you'd see a black
square on the slide. It was on the timeline, and I could move it
around on the slide, but it was just a clear transparent box. This
made me think that the reason the "DONE!" text wasn't getting
passed was because there was a problem with the SWF even being on
the slide in the first place.
Any ideas???? Or, if there's another way to pull off what I'm
trying to do, that would be fine with me as well. Thanks!!!

But isn't "_root" just the top-most object? So, if I'm
loading the Captivate project from my main Flash SWF, then that
main Flash SWF is the "_root" no matter what, right? Or am I wrong
    about that???

  • Does inserted swf reflect changes when Cap movie is changed?

I have several swfs in my Presenter presentation. If I make changes to the Captivate movies (the source file for the swf), then republish them, will the inserted swf update automatically? If not, can they be updated without having to delete them then insert them again?

Unfortunately Leeann, an updated Captivate file will not automatically replace or update the swf you imported in the PowerPoint environment using the Presenter feature.  And simply replacing one swf for another gets pretty dicey with Captivate, especially earlier versions of Captivate because of multiple files that are created as a result of Captivate's publishing process.
However, if you've published your Presenter content locally to your computer, then you might be able to try the following:
Open your project folder where you've published your content to your computer.  From there open up the data folder; nested within that should be the resources folder.  Once inside the resources folder, you should see all the swfs you imported earlier.
Run each swf by double-clicking so that you can see what swf corresponds to your Captivate material, and make note of the file name.  The idea here is to use the same file name for the existing swfs in the resources directory and use that information on the updated files that you republished from Captivate.
Of course your individual results may vary, so I'd tread very lightly here...but you can give that a shot and see if it helps any.

  • Strange Problem when importing .swf

I have posted the exact files I am having this issue with. If
anyone is up for looking at them.
    So I have a Flash3.0 Project
    http://www.shieldcogroup.com/flash/mia_effects.fla
It has a masking effect and it looks like this.
    http://www.shieldcogroup.com/flash/mia_effects.swf
When I import it to a seperate flash3.0 project.... it keeps
the one part of a grouped symbol and looses the rest of the grouped
symbol... this leaves only 1 thing out of many that remains masked.
Not sure if it matter but the first shape I created is the one that
    it is keeping. The volleyball.
If it helps with the incentive it is picture of a hot girl..
So when I go to import
    http://www.shieldcogroup.com/flash/mia_effects.swf
    Into
    http://www.shieldcogroup.com/flash/mia_site.fla
It looses info.... any insight into this? It is very strange
    behavior.

I noticed that when you scrub the timeline in the .fla you
get a different result then if you run the movie..... how can that
    be?

  • How do I import an existing finalised imovie into a new project either in part or full. The movie I want to import is filed under "movies" but greyed out when I go through the procedure in imovie 11

How do I import an existing finalised movie clip into  a new developing project ? I go through the imovie 11 procedure for importing and the list of clips (finalised and un-finalised) appears, but always "greyed out" which makes it impossible to create anything. I have tried placing it on the desk top and dragging but this doesn't work either.

AppleMan  Thanks very much for the information, however I could't make it work. I followed your instructions to the letter, in fact I tried every which-way. I created a dedicated file into which I copied and pasted the project from "package contents"  but it was still greyed out when I went to retrieve it. I also found that the file size was reduced to only a few Kb.  Any further step-by-step instructions would be appreciated as I am obviously doing something wrong.  Babowa  It appears that in imovie everything has to be "finalised" before it can be used or shared elsewhere in the same way as a disk has to be to be played elsewhere. Funnily enough an MOV file I converted to Mp4 was not greyed out and I was able to import it.... an exercise I am not keen on because of resolution loss during conversion

  • Imported image's position moves when updated in Indesign CS6. Why??

After modifying an imported image from illustrator, the imported image's position moves within the frame of Indesign CS6 when the link is updated.

You have not provided any relevant information, so nobody can know. you can simply have added content that expands the bounding box. Well, whatever, ask in the relevant forums and be much more specific.
