  • Adobe reset my trial for Premiere pro but still isn't working?

I had an email saying that my Premiere Pro trial has been reset but when I try to use the software, it won't let me use it as it says my trial has expired. I tried unstalling everything, restarting and then downloading and installing everything again. Still not working.
Chat support hasn't been very helpful. Anyone ran into this problem?

    Hi Rave,
Adobe have stated that they have reset my trial period of Premiere Pro so that I can try out the new features of the 2014 release. I've attached an image of the email.

I have a YouTube channel and I'm going away for 2 days tomorrow and I really need to get my videos up online, but I just can't render them! Does anyone know how to fix this? I really need help ASAP!

  • Premiere pro cc losing audio after save and close

Though I can see the wave form, audio won't play back after save, close and reopening of project.  Not every file is affected.  If I reimport track, audio will work again, but this is causing me to lose TONS of editing work when I have to start over again and then I'm afraid to close project.
    Any ideas?

I am having this same issue in PPro CC. I am editing multi-source material from interviews that were 2-3 hours long. The audio was recorded separately and the wave files ran the entire length of the interview. 44100kHz, 16-bit wav files. It happens after I reopen the project to only some (5%?) of the audio files I imported into the project, not all.
When I re-open the project, the audio data within the wav file will shift forward, so that the back end of the clip will show green/grey diagonal striping signifying the deadspace left when the audio data shifted forward. This is only visible when the entire file is in a sequence. In sequences where it is just a clip from the *shifted* file, the clip will either play dead space if the clip is from the end of the *shifted* file or audio from the wrong part of the file since it's time reference is shifted. The only work around is to import the file again and re-cut, but its killing my work flows. I'm editing 56 interviews, each of 2-3 hours and I can't waste time re-cutting my deliverables each time there's an a revision.

  • FAQ: What computer and components should I buy for Premiere Pro or After Effects?

See this page for the official minimum system requirements for Premiere Pro.
See this page for the official minimum system requirements for After Effects.
Note that the minimum system requirements are just that: a minimum to run the software. You will need components that exceed the minimum system requirements to achieve satisfactory performance in many cases.

    As David and Hal said
One thing to consider is that you may also want SATA capability (which you can do with G5 towers easily, the dual cores have cards available or will shortly) and also shortly (fingers cross) for the MacBooks (there are cards for PowerBooks.)
The only possible fly in the ointment is if you are going to hold onto these computers for awhile, with the Intel Chips the non-Intels will eventually have less support and software. Though for the short term (particularly if you are relying on non-Intel native apps and need peak performance) the Quad G5s are great.

  • Notebook qualified for Premiere Pro CS4

Hi, I was wondering if this laptop would be equipped to use  Premiere Pro CS4 on,  not so much heavy use. I'll probably get the i7 2620m processor instead assuming it's worth it.
    It's a Dell XPS 15

    500gbSATA hard drive (7200RPM)
    video card
NVIDIA GeForce GT 525M 1GB graphics with Optimus
For $100 more the laptop has 6gb ram and NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 2GB graphics with Optimus... would the difference in running PP CS4 be only marginal, or would it result in extremely worthy improvements?
I use a desktop for editing but want to be able to use a laptop while I'm mobile, so I just want to assure I purchase a notebook that won't crash often or run too slow to bear while using PP.
also wondering if a notebook with a drive that's only 5400 rpm would be acceptable if I'm also using an eSata?
Thank you for your insight in advanced.

I second Harm's and John's recomendations. That XPS 15, as configured as listed above, does not meet Adobe's practical minimum requirements for either CS4 or CS5. In fact, CS4 actually demands far more RAM than it it constrained to use (as a 32-bit program), meaning that it will never perform well regardless of the platform because CS4 relies extremely heavily on the pagefile due to the lack of total RAM support.
And even if you plan to upgrade to CS5.5, that laptop suffers from several limitations:
    1) The i5-2410M, like all other mobile i5 CPUs, is only dual-core. And given that no desktop dual-core system performs as well as even a mediocre quad-core system, the dual-core laptops will likely be even slower than most of the desktop dual-core systems.
    2) The laptop has only 4GB of RAM. Unfortunately, the XPS 15 (in most configurations) does not support more than 8GB total of RAM. This means that you'd have to max out on the total RAM capacity just for Premiere Pro to even run acceptably well - and then, only if you choose a quad-core i7 (as in i7-2xxxQM).
    3) Because mobile hard drives are typically slower-performing than their desktop counterparts, consider an SSD instead as the laptop's system drive. But then, you'd have to put up with only one eSATA port and two USB 3.0 ports to connect an external hard drive.
    4) The GeForce GT 525M is barely adequate for CS5.x (if you choose to upgrade Premiere Pro to the latest version): It uses only DDR3 memory (current fast GPUs use (G)DDR5 memory), and it has only 96 CUDA cores. As such, it would be nearly two times slower than a fast mobile GPU.
    5) Dell often includes a fair amount of bloatware pre-installed on their systems - and the bloatware seriously degrades system performance. What's more, some of that bloatware cannot be easily uninstalled - and some parts of the bloatware are left on the system to screw up overall system performance even if the main bloatware apps are uninstalled.
Put them all together, and you might very well end up with a system whose overall performance ranking is at or very near the very bottom of the PPBM5 results list on the PPBM5 site. In fact, even if you use CS4 and run PPBM4, your ranking would still be very near the bottom of the PPBM4 results list on the PPBM4 site.

  • Multicam editing in Premiere Pro CC very slow after latest update.

So I installed the latest update for Premiere Pro CC a couple of days ago and now every edit I make in my Multicam sequence takes about 10 seconds to take effect. No matter how small an edit I make. While it´s taking affect the computer just freezes.
Is it possible to downgrade or does someone have a sollution?

@Devinclk: You specify that you're on 7.2. If that's accurate, then please update to 7.2.2. Among the many bugs fixed were several involving multicam.
@Mediatek: first off, as a CC subscriber you most certainly do have access to the CS6 version of PPro. On this download page, use the drop-down under "In This Version" midway down the left side of the page to select CS6, then click "Download." As to the problems you're having with CC, if you start a new thread and provide as much detail as possible, there's a good chance someone around here will be able to help troubleshoot it. Remember, while you're choosing to emphasize that you're "another struggling CC user," tens of thousands of customers are using the program without such problems. So there's a particular issue--or confluence of issues--causing particular problems in your case. The first step to resolving the problems is for you to share specific & thorough enough information for someone to help.

  • I can edit on Premiere Pro 6 files, but after a dozen keystrokes, the space bar and cursor keys stop working while the save function works

I can edit on Premiere Pro 6 files, but after a dozen keystrokes, the space bar and cursor keys stop working while the save function, render workspace function, export file are still operational. How can I fix it so I may complete my assignment?
Besides DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Creative Suite 6 is the only software on the machine. I am using Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Operating System on AMD FX 6100 six-Core Processor at 3.31gHz and 32 GB RAM memory. There are two SLI-bridged GTX680 NVidia cards.
The software was very stable for the last six months, working with 720P proxy files from 2.5K masters (Blackmagic Design Camera). I am working on a feature-length project that exceeds 1000 edits. I have broken the file into 2 one hour segments.
I have deactivated the software before reinstalling the entire OS from scratch. PP6 was very stable for 48 hours. Then the freezing space bar returns. After a dozen strokes into the project, same problem.  I have made cache files store next to originals, I have deleted preview files if they were corrupted and causing instability. Am I missing something?
I have Microsoft Security Essentials for virus protection. I double checked the memory for damage/defect. Nothing says that the motherboard or other components are damaged.
I am in film competition overseas and need to have deliverables in less than a month's time.  I lost the last two weeks troubleshooting and this crisis came at an inopportune moment of the project.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Still getting software freezes but found a way to mitigate for the mean time.
Upon launching Adobe Premiere Pro, hit CTRL-ALT-DEL to launch TaskManager as well.
You will want to highlight Adobe QT32 Server.exe
Right click and select "End Process Tree"
You will get considerable stability in the program, long enough to get timing of cuts done. Be sure to save often.
If the program freezes, do not hit Save. You definitely want to avoid saving the corruption into your TimeLine
CTRL-ALT-DEL to relaunch the TaskManager and highlight Adobe Premiere Pro.exe
    Right-click to "End Process"
No need to reboot the whole system; just launch Premiere Pro again and continue with the session. Note that your work reverted to Last Save.
Hope this helps until the bug is fixed.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 vs. After Effects CS6

I would like to know which of these programs would be best for me.   I shoot video with my Canon Vixia HFS 20 HD camcorder.  I have a decent green screen studio set up in my basement.  I currently use Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 and am not happy with the poor chroma key features it has.  Is the Chroma key the same or similar on both of these programs?  I would rather spend less for Premiere Pro unless there is some really cool stuff in After Effects that would make the additional cost worth it.
I just bought a new Dell XPS 8500 desktop with a Core i7 processor, 12GB of RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT 640 1GB GDDR5, 460 watt power supply, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and a 2TB hard drive.  I just installed a WD Black 2TB internal second hard drive.  I would be willing to upgrade the graphics card and/or RAM if it would make a noticeable difference.
I would really like some good advice on what to buy and suggestions of computer upgrades if needed.
    Dan Hauck

    1. If you feel unhappy with the reply, why did you mark it as the 'correct answer'?
That just decreases the probability some other Forum users visit your thread and give you an answer you will be more satisfied with...
    2. You probably misunderstands Creative Cloud Files concept. Those 20 GB are for sharing files, they don't limit you in storing and editing footages on your hard drive, and you don't have to use it.
    3. Both PrPro and AE have sets of keying tools that can do a decent job. However, the result always depends on many factors such as set up quality, the footage quality (it's difficult to pull a good key out of highly compressed footage) and your skills. Since AE is a compositing tool, you can pull better key there out of poor quality footage via several steps (which requires investing some time on learning).
Just download trial versions of both applications and test on your own.
If you're unhappy with built-in keying tools and have some money, you can extend them with 3-rd party plug-ins (e.g. Red Giant Primatte Keyer).

  • Is there no User Guide for Premiere Pro CS6?

I am a FCP7 refugee trying to decide between Avid and PP CS6. After waiting for a few weeks for it to be available, I have been lookiig through the PP CS6 Help PDF. I was surprised to see that it is not a complete reference guide documenting the features of the application, but instead a mish-mash of short descriptions, with numerous links to videos, documents from earlier versions, and other external locations where one has to go to get the actual information--not very helpful as a guide to the application. Is there actually no comprehensive user guide from Adobe in a single document or PDF? Or is the only way to get information about the application to navigate through all these disjointed materials?
If there is such a user guide, I would very much like to know where I can find it. If there isn't, I would have to count this as a very big factor in favor of deciding to go with Avid. This is particularly true given the absence of any current third-party books on PPro CS6, although such books are hardly a substitute for a well written and comprehensive user guide, something which is also true of the help PDF.

    Groppler wrote:
Since the links are to the on-line CS6 help and the PDF version of that help, both of which are a collection of materials concerning CS5, CS5.5 and CS6...
Yes, for CS6, new information was added to the CS5/CS5.5 documentation. We had to go this route because we are working with brand new documentation software. There simply was not enough time to integrate the software and complete a whole new set of documentation. Believe me, it was enough of a challenge integrating the old system with the new one--in addition to creating the articles for new features, and the connective tissue between them.
There is only one person that does the docs for Premiere Pro, and that is me. I have limitations and guidelines I must follow, so I hope you understand.
    Groppler wrote:
...with links to external sources you have to go to for information, I guess the answer to my question is that there is no true user guide for Premiere Pro CS6 that one can go to for comprehensive information about the application...
No, this is the Help. It has BOTH the comprehensive details about the software and community content where you can see how people are actually using the software. If the Help is lacking details about any feature, please alert me and I will include those details. I work directly from the engineering documentation and include every detail I can about any feature.
Since my time is limited, I don't always have time to make supplemental materials like video tutorials, or articles. That's why I link to them. The crucial info is included in the docs, the community content is material that I personally approve as helpful and supportive to the documentation.
    Groppler wrote:
...without sorting through irrelevant information or navigating to all these third-party sites to see if they have information you are looking for.
None of the community content is irrelevant. I sort through it all very carefully. Community content is supportive and helpful to users. It should not be necessary to sort through these tutorials as the info should be right in the docs. Community content is supplemental. If you don't find the information you were looking for in the docs themselves, create a comment right on the Help page and I'll see to it that it gets fixed ASAP.
    Groppler wrote:
I am quite surprised by this and think the absence of a real user guide is a significant shortcoming of Premiere Pro, not shared by other products on the market.
It is a real user guide. I'm sorry you don't feel that way. If you want a doc with only Premiere Pro CS6 info in it, I can understand that request. Unfortunately, that was impossible for this round.
If you have any suggestions for the next round of Help documentation, a better place than here would be the Community Help forum. Please voice your concerns there, as the people that actually make decisions about Help are hanging out there.

  • Re-install procedure for Premiere Pro CS 5.5

My instalation of Win7 Premiere Pro CS 5.5 is corrupted and I have lost the ability to handle HD files/projects. I can still process SD projects. I have also lost the ability to capture HD video over Firewire (no video, only sound) and I can't work with my earlier completed HD projects. I can't export work areas.
I don't know how to resolve this problem. I have tried rolling back Windows without success.  Any suggestions?
I think I need to reinstall Premiere Pro CS5.5
Is there a detailed procedure for the efficient removal and reinstalation.of Premiere Pro using my CS5.5 CDs.
    Roger

If you are going to re-Install Premiere on the SAME computer, would it not be better to suspend activation to avoid using an activation "life"?
Indeed a post in this thread
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3650498
by an Adobe staff member who was involved in setting up the activation system, states that if you are re-installing on the same computer, there is no need to de-activate , and no "life" will be used up.
Hunt thinks that we have 8 lives, I am sure I was once told by Adobe support that we have 20.

  • Optimal Hard Drive Configuration for Premiere Pro CS5 and Pro Tools

I am in the process of upgrading a workstation that is used primarily for multi-track audio recording in Pro Tools to use the following Adobe CS5 products for production of promotional videos in HDV (and AVCHD for the web) as well as printed marketing materials for bands and musicians: Premiere Pro, Encore, Photoshop, Illustrator and Soundbooth.
Since Premiere Pro is probably the most demanding application of the group, I have been studying the suggested hardware configurations on this forum with great interest, particularly HARM's suggestions (including his Generic Guideline for Disk Setup) to determine which hard drives to purchase and the optimal manner in which to configure them.
I am upgrading an HP Z800 with dual quad core 2.44 GhZ processors with hyperthreading (16 virtual cores), 12 GB of memory and an overclocked GeForce GTX 470.  Without setting up a RAID configuration (which I cannot afford at the moment), I would like to use the 4 available HDD bays in the Z800 in the optimal manner for Premier Pro, using currently available drives.  I am currently considering purchasing a 300GB VelociRaptor to use as my C drive because of the extended load times and demands placed on the drive by ProTools and the associated Waves plug-ins.
I would appreciate suggestions to improve my following plan:  C (300GB  WD VelociRaptor) for OS and Programs; D (1 TB WD Black Caviar) for Media and Projects; E (1 250 GB WD Black Caviar) for Pagefile (approx. 18 GB) and Media Cache; and E (2 TB WD Black Caviar) for Previews, Exports and Pro Tools audio files.
I have great respect for the knowledge of the members of this forum and eagerly await your suggestions.
    /Bill

I very much appreciate the responses to my email because I know that all of your time is valuable and that you have chosen to use some of that valuable time to help an unknown individual.  This forum is remarkable because of the wealth of knowledge available and the willingness of so many to assist others.
I now wish to narrow my questions to save you time and so that I can get specific advice.  I may not have not been clear that I have already upgraded to the HP Z800 with dual quad core processors and overclocked GTX 470, primarily for the improved performance it will provide in ProTools.  My question now is how to optimize its performance for Premiere Pro CS5.  Based upon my research, I am considering the following two upgrades, but I am open to other suggestions if they would provide better results at a similar cost
    1. I am considering purchasing a 600GB WD VelociRaptor ( WD6000HLXH) for my C drive on which I would place OS (Windows 7, 64 Bit) and programs in an effort to reduce loading times of large programs.  I have two questions: (1) Are members of the forum seeing a significant improvment in program loading times with the VelociRaptor because I am still not convinced that the price performance of SSD's justifies their use; and (2) There are so many models of VelociRaptors now that I want to be certain that I am purchasing the best version for my needs.  In addition to the usual 10000 RPM speed, this model has 32MB Cache and a 3.5" form factor as well as a SATA 6.0GB/s interface (which I doubt my motherboard can take advantage of but it might extend the useful life of the drive with future configurations).
    2. I currently have available for installation in the Z800 the following drives:  (1) WD 2TB Black Caviar; (1) WD 1TB Black Caviar; (2) Hitachi 1TB.  I believe that the Z800 can accept up to 5 SATA hard drives which I will have if I purchase the Velociraptor.  Although I am reasonably knowledeable when it comes to hardware, I have never set up a RAID configuration.  Therefore, it would be helpful if someone could recommend one of the various RAID configurations and brieflyexplain why it would seem to be best for my needs.  I can then focus my research on understanding that one configuration.
I was planning to follow Scott's suggestion for my current 3 drives:  OS and programs on C (WD 600 GBVelociRaptor), media and projects on D (WD 1TB Black Caviar), export files and Pro Tools files (all live musician tracks, no samples) on E (WD 2TB Black Caviar).  However, I have been reading about the benefits of a RAID configuration so I am interested in further suggestions now that I have clarified my questions.
Thank you all for your help.
    Bill
