PC Suite/Nokia 6500c

Just upgraded from Nokia 6230i ot 6500c. I have synchronised my phone and as usual managed to duplicate a lot of my contacts. Problem I have is inability to view the contacts that are on my phone through PC Suite and amend them accordingly. I can view all contacts through my phone menu, though.
Driving me round the bend!

I have exactly the same problem. This is being discussed by users all over te web but I have not found any advice from Nokia yet on how to fix it.
Come on Nokia - any chance you can help us?

  • Strange behaviour of PC Suite with 6500c after sof...

    Hi everyone,
I have a 6500c connected via USB to my PC running PC suite.  For ages I've been able to send and receive messages via the PC Suite quite happily and view contacts etc.  But that has stopped since I updated my firmware and the PC Suite software.
Now when I plug the phone into the USB cable, it no longer sychronises with PC Suite (I choose PC Suite from the phone).  PC Suite recognises the phone, charges the battery and I can still browse the phone's memory.  I can still send messages, but if I click the refresh button in the Nokia Communication Centre, it will not refresh my messages so I can't read them or reply to any.  The drop down in the number field also doesn't show numbers/names from the phone.
If I go to the Contacts app of PC Suite, it reports "Refreshing of contacts failed"
When I go to "Settings > Settings..."  and click "Check the notifications supported by this device: Nokia 6500c" it runs the test and says the phone supports the following:
Notifications for incoming calls : Yes
Notifications for incoming messages : No
    Battery level notification : Yes
I've reinstalled the firmware and PC Suite but it's still no better.  I can't do a Restore All factory default on the phone as I don't know the code it asks for!
The 6500c firmware is v09.45 (the latest according to the software updater)
The PC Suite version is 7.1.18.0
    Can anyone help me?
    Any help gratefully aprreciated!!
    Steve

    Hi,
I'm facing this same problem from december 2009. Phone notifications does not work. Battery level bar doesn't work too (only in BT mode).
These are known isues of 7.1.18.0 still not removed.
If you want have your old functionalities, install older version 7.0.9
Code for factory default should be 12345, if not changed.
    Cheers

  • Nokia 6500c problem caused by an update

    He,
I was wandering if anybody here could help me with my problem. Let me tell you what happend:
I wanted to update my phone, a nokia 6500c, by downloading and installing some software. So I started PCSuite and downloaded some software. When it was done I started installing and I followed every procedure of the installer. About halfway the instalation the installer said there was a problem and 'the instalation failed'. I thought by myself, never mind, my phone works great without that software. So while the program was shutting down, I pulled my phone out of the USB Cable and noticed it wasn't on anymore. 'Strange...' I thought. Because I knew it was on like 2 minutes ago. I started with by pressing the 'on' button of the phone. Nothing happend...
Maybe the battery was empty? So I tried to put it in the recharger. And while I was watching to my phone I noticed that each half a minute the screen gave light. But I didn't went on. And now I still can't turn the phone on.
    Anybody knows a solution?
    Thanks,
    McFlavus

take your phone to your nearest nokia care centre for them to look at. seems like that the installation of nokia pc suite or software update has stuffed up your phone. always remember to Safely Remove Hardware for your phone in windows, or trash can in Mac OS X, otherwise with improper removal you can corrupt your phone, which seems to be the case here.

    Hi,
Really **bleep** off with this issue in synchronizing , I move back to my old PC suite that worked fine .
I expect our NOKIA provider to be back on their code and solve this issue.
At least, one mail to me warning me of corrections with this issue and improved performances would not be considered by me as spam but as consideration to users .
Sorry dear developpers but either your specs were uncomplete, at least performance criterias were undefined and you businees acceptance test were unproperly managed. I would not like to be the project manager in charge of ! Just before Christmas, providing such a release will make Santa Klaus quite unhappy top him .

  • 'Nokia PC Suite' & 'Nokia Ovi Suite' for my Nokia ...

'Nokia Pc Suite' & 'Nokia Ovi Suite' are same softwer?
Bcz my nokia C1-01 have nokia ovi suite, when my computer install Nokia pc suite & connect, then my mobile display show 'nokia ovi suite' & 'mass storage' when click 'nokia ovi suite' can't find my mobile in my computer!
    why??
Moderator's note: We provided a topic-related to the subject to the post so other users can easily identify and answer the concern.

The USB mode in your Nokia might be called Modem, PC Suite or Nokia Suite, or even Nokia Ovi Suite. In your phone, all these four USB modes are the same.
The PC Suite and the Nokia Suite are two different software titles which can be used in parallel. Furthermore, the Nokia Suite is the successor of (replaced) the Nokia Ovi Suite.
Before you download and install all these software, I recommend to install the latest Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver first.
If that did not help, please, plug-in your Nokia, select that Suite mode, and go to to Windows » Start » Contol Panel (» Hardware » Devices) » Device-Manager » USB » right-click on your Nokia » Update Driver Software. Did that help?

  • Nokia 6500c Problem!

my nokia 6500c doesn't seem to be getting any signal at all! i turn the phone on and i get signal for like 2 mins and then it just keep saying '' sim card registration failed '' or '' check info service '', does anyone know how to fix this
    thanks in advance

Contact your network and request a new sim card.
If the problem persists with a new sim take your phone to a nokia care point as it may have a faulty sim reader.

  • PC Suite for 6500c to work on mac os x leopard

Seems like new products have to much information & features built into them these days. PC suite would not work on my old pc for 6500c & will not work on my new mac. Neither will isync.
Have not been able to charge phone in car although nokia old ck7w car kit works fine no need for a lcd gadget in car who needs any more distractions while driving.
Surely there must be a way to edit this phone book without manually deleting all contacts & starting again.
    Any info out there.

sounds like the sync service on your phone is the culprit. i'd need more info about the failure to help diagnose why it's happening and if its possible to fix without a format of the phone. hve you looked in the console error logs? do you see an error message? try sending all your existing contact info to your mac, then erasing the info on the phone and re-syncing. to send info to the mac: on my n95, i can hold the edit key (pencil key) and select all of my contacts. then i choose Options->Send Business Card send it via bluetooth to the mac and you'll get a list of .vcf files. you can double-click each one of these to import it to the Address Book. (if you care about calendar info too, you'll have to do that before the next step as well - reply for step-by-step info) now, open isync and in the menu bar click Devices->Reset All Devices isync will ask if you're certain, then erase all contact and calendar info on the phone, then perform a normal sync. --- by the way - there is no pc suite for the mac - i just reread your post, maybe you were talking about Nokia multimedia Transfer? this app is not responsible for any synchronizing of your contact info. maybe i have answered the wrong question. please reply with clarification if you want help ---
    N95-1 ---> N97-NAM ---> N900 ---> E7-00 + N900 (I use them both)
(N95 was pretty good, N97 had potential but utterly failed to deliver, N900 is absurdly good. Those of you wondering, "should I try N900/Maemo/MeeGo"? The answer is a resounding YES)

  • Please Help - Nokia 6500c Video converting

Hi, could you please help me - what is the best way to upload video? I just bought the phone, which is great, but Nokia's software is really slow and the Suite hangs up almost every time. If I convert a .avi with it, only audio remains. What programs do you use for video conversion and what selections seem to give the best quality? Thanks!
    6500c, 6030

This feature is not available on the phone. However, you can achieve this by downloading applications from the Nokia Store or from another third party website.
Reminder: For third party applications, security and compatibility with the phone is not guaranteed.

  • PC Suite & Nokia N95 Backup/Restore

My N95 doesn't seem to want to do a Backup let alone restore...
Keeps hanging at 66% backup when it hits 'phone specific' stuff - the last one on the list.
I have the most recent PC Suite - has anyone else suffered from this problem?
Yup, life sure moves pretty fast...

Out of interest do you get any type of error message when PC Suite is attempting to backup your Messages ? Also - give it some time to back up - I've left it for a good 20 minutes just to see whether it times out or comes back with any specific error message.
I experienced a similar issue and it was down to having to reinstall the MMS Sync component of PC Suite.
Two things I would try are :
    1) As a previous poster recommended - just try backing up to the memory card to see whether this works OK or not. Not being able to do so would indicate it's not a PC Suite related issue and localised to the phone itself.
    2) Try reinstall PC Suite functionality on the phone itself. With the N95 connected to your PC, load up PC Suite (the main program which gives an overview of all the applications that collectively comprise of PC Suite), then goto the Help Menu and choose "Reinstall PC Suite support on your phone" - then try backing up again.
If both of these steps fail, I'd recomend wiping your phone to a factory reset condition (although your memory card should NOT be affected if you follow the link below - but to be safe I'd take it out nevertheless !). The only problem with this solution is that it leaves you in the recursive problem of having to wipe a phone you want to take a backup of (!). Hopefully however, you won't have to do this ...
To reset your phone, follow the instructions in this link :
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&message.id=4007
However please be aware that doing so will wipe ALL the data from your phone such as information in your calendar, contacts and so on.
In order to save your data you can use the PC Suite application to save and restore the data from your phone - this software can be found here :
    http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite
If this doesn't work then it's likely you have a hardware fault and you should approach your local Nokia Service Centre to get your phone fixed.
    Hope this helps.
Please let me know how you get on.
    Regards,
    Edward

  • Nokia Suite/Nokia Store finally working

I had not tried downloading/installing an app from the Nokia store from within Nokia Suite in quite a while, as it never seemed to work. On a lark, I decided to see whether anything had changed since installing the latest version of Nokia Suite. To my surprise, the selection of apps offered was correct for my phone; the selected apps were downloaded and installed in one step, and the 4 apps that I tried out all worked. I'm glad that Nokia has finally apparently gotten the kinks out of the procedure, as this is now on par with its equivalent through Apple/iOS or through Google/Android.

I think development of Nokia Suite has already stopped.

  • Nokia 6500c - New Firmware, please!

This is the message I was trying to send through the "Feedback" page in Nokia.com, but it doesn't work! Very strange. So I'm posting it here and hoping that maybe this message will reach Nokia themselves.
Hello, I own a 6500 classic. I can say I'm really happy I got it, although it was a bit expensive for me. I enjoyed it from the minute I got it, first of all, because it's really nice looking, comfortable to use and work with. It's my first high class Nokia phone - I've had 3310, 6030, 1110i and finally the 6500c. I'm a Nokia fan :-) However, I think, I could give you some personal ideas about the performance of the phone, and what could be fixed and done better, after all, there's always room for improvement and Nokia, as a leading mobile phone manufacturer, strives for perfection.
Just to make sure, I have the RM-265 type, 42.02 variant, V 03.21.
One thing for sure, that could be included in the firmware update, I think, could be management of the display: the user should be able to change the contrast and backlighting, in order to save some battery time. The other thing, why not include a "screen off" type of screen saver? I find the current system quite ineffective: if you do set (any) screensaver on and lock the keypad or don't do anything, it, of course, turns the screensaver on, but then, after some minutes turns into the little "overview" box that slides from place to place showing Time and Date, you know, and the display automatically turns itself off after just some 15-20 mins more. Now, I really find the "Analogue clock" screensaver beautiful, but then it turns into the not-so-nice little box previously mentioned. So I now use the phone with screensaver off in order to get the box from the beginning, as a screensaver. So, in all, Menu-Settings-Display-Screensaver-Screen off (timeout to set, too) would be great.
Other problems - you have to click twice to move down on contact list after searching (ie, type R and press down twice to get to the second person one the list rather than once)
    - Menus After saving a setting or discarding a setting, the phone will return to a random menu, not the related menu
    - Call / Green button - Displays call log as opposed to "Dialled calls"
    - This might not be a firmware/software issue, but the quiet places in MP3s (when played through the speaker) come out "scratchy" and not nice and pleasant to hear at all! Also, one can't listen to classical music on the speaker at all - too quiet and scratchy, as I said! That's the most disappointing bug. Maybe it's just my phone, but I've heard other people saying this is happening with their devices as well.
Thanks a lot, hope to see a firmware update for 6500c soon!
    Sincerely,
    Vytenis

does anyone have any idea hoe to download new software for the 6500c using a windows vista pc? Oh! what about the fact that after you have missed a call, received a message that the phone initially alerts you the one time;and if you don't get it;you are alerted no more.Thats not good.I guess if you don't here the phone ring the first time, then you are just **bleep** out until you have a reason to pick up the phone and then see that you missed a call or received a message.
