Pci timer

hello
what is pci latency timer control
i read article on evga site it says set pci latency timer to 128
also whats pci ide bus master
thankx anyway

It's the time a PCI device can take control of the BUS, if it's set too low IDE preformance is affected and soundcards can have crackled sound output.
PCI BUS master means a device is allowed to take over the BUS rather than require the chipset to do it. You want it enabled.

  • Lookout driver for NI PCI Timer/Counter Board NI-6601

    Is there any Lookout version 5.0 driver available for the NI-6601 PCI Card? Any built in drive that works?

    There is a PCI card available that works with DAQ OPC, in this case the E-series product line would apply. Many of the PCI-6040E type cards have counters. However, at this stage of development I would recommend for serious consideration using LabVIEW and NI-DAQ. Lookout is a great program for communicating with OPC items. However, for basic to advanced data acquisition, LabVIEW is the optimized solution. All other ways will require more development time.

  • Updated bios GT780R... and now have appearently lost...

    ok so ive updated to the lasted Bios and EC firmware... it took and fine and no errors nothing wrong with the notebook except i seem to have lost alot of the GT780R's bios functions such as the ability to turn off msi logo and show the bios version number/ami logo.... and several others 1761.306 bios and 1761.1461 for the EC updated bios via MSI HQ forum tool, and did EC by Unet and dos... since the tool was pretty damn loud and annoying robot voice ;p neat but lotta excess crap in that tool i didnt like lol ;p but i dont understand why i lost features when this was simply adding support for the VGA using 180W adapters for more power... Edit: if anyone knows if thiers like a spec sheet for the bios for the differences updates be helpful as well

    good news i can now disable quiet boot again ;0 even got pci timer clocks back the only thing that looks missing would be VT disable/enable not that i use it anyways ;p also seems like my fan got a lil louder i didnt notice a difference before but now when i hit cool boost button it turns on right away lol well like 3 sec lag still, but thats normal to when i first got it  so im happy :p its back to what i like/need
    enjoy the info and have a happy notebook bios time ;p use the tool :p defintely with sound turned off it works but damn thats loud lol :p

    Problem with DAQmx and Real Time PCI-7041/6040E.
    I have a problem with the Real Time card PCI-7041/6040E, I think it is properly installed because my software run with the traditional NI-DAQ. When I try to use the new DAQmx to acquire one signal, Labview doesn't see any device for de DAQ card 6040E.
    Information, I work on Windows XP and LabView v7.0.0 (NIDAQ RT v7.0.0, NI-Serial RT v2.5.2, NI-VISA v3.0.1 and NI-Watchdog v2.0.0).
    Could Labview RT run with new DAQmx ?
    What can I do to use DAQmx with PCI-7041/6040E?
    Thanks for your help !

    Hello,
    I refer to your posts because i am using the PCI 7041/6040E card as
    well but without any success to make it work. The problem I have
    already described in the following thread:

  • PCI 6602:How can I use the digital lines of the board and in the same time to generate pulse train using a counter?

    Hello!
    My problem appeared when I tried to update my code from Traditional NI-DAQ Legacy to DAQmx.
    I am using 2 counters (counter 5 and counter 7)  from PCI-6602, to generate pulse train, and also the Digital I/O lines of the port 0 (the lines form 0 to 7). What I do in my application is that I am starting to generate the pulse train on the output of the 2 counters, and after that I am playing with the state of the digital lines.
    In traditional there was no problem using the counters and the digital lines in the same time, everything was going perfectly, but in DAQmx this is not possible.
    What happens: I start to generate pulse train on the output of the counters,  no errors encountered, but when I try to modify the state of one line of the digital port the generation of the pulse train is stopped. This is happening when I start the task associated to the digital port.
    My question is: it is possible to create a channel on the digital lines without altered the channels created for the counters?
    Another thing what I manage to see using the  "Measurement & Automation Explorer" and Test panels for PCI-6602, basically is the same thing, I generate pulse train on the output of the counter 7 and try to start a task on the digital line, but I get one error :
    "Error -200022 occurred at Test Panel
    Possible Reason(s):
    Measurements: Resource requested by this task has already been reserved by a different task.
    Device: Dev4
    Terminal: PFI8"
    Instead if I use the counter 0 or counter 1 to generate pulse train I don't encounter the same problem.
    Which resources are used by the counters 2 to 7 from the PCI-6602 board and the counters 0 and 1 do not use?
    Thank in advance for any replies!

    Hello Jordan, thank you for your reply.
    I am sorry but I can not see or run your example, I don't use LabView, I use Visual C++ for developing.
    Here is the code for generating the pulse train:
    GeneratePulseTrain(unsigned long ulCount1, unsigned long ulCount2)
        short nStatus = 0;
        nStatus = DAQmxCreateTask("",&m_taskHandle);
        nStatus = DAQmxCreateCOPulseChanTicks (m_taskHandle, "Dev4/count5", "", NULL, DAQmx_Val_Low, 0.0, ulCount1,ulCount2);
        if( bTriggerMode == true) // if hardware trigger is enabled
            nStatus = DAQmxSetTrigAttribute (m_taskHandle, DAQmx_ArmStartTrig_Type, DAQmx_Val_DigEdge);
            nStatus = DAQmxSetTrigAttribute (m_taskHandle, DAQmx_DigEdge_ArmStartTrig_Edge, DAQmx_Val_Rising);
            nStatus = DAQmxSetTrigAttribute (m_taskHandle, DAQmx_DigEdge_ArmStartTrig_Src,"Dev4/PFI17" );
        //set the internal timebase
        nStatus = DAQmxSetCOCtrTimebaseSrc(m_taskHandle,"Dev4/count5","20MHzTimeBase" );
        nStatus = DAQmxStartTask(m_taskHandle);
        return nStatus;
    And the code where I try to set the digital line:
    SetChannelState(short nState)
        short nStatus = 0;
        uInt8 wrtBuf0[1]={0};
        nStatus = DAQmxCreateTask("",&m_taskHandle);
        // Configure line as output
        nStatus = DAQmxCreateDOChan (m_taskHandle, "Dev4/port0/line0", "", DAQmx_Val_ChanPerLine);
        nStatus = DAQmxStartTask(m_taskHandle);
        wrtBuf0[0] = nState;
        nStatus =DAQmxWriteDigitalLines (m_taskHandle, 1, 0, 0, DAQmx_Val_GroupByScanNumber , wrtBuf0, NULL, NULL);
        nStatus = DAQmxWaitUntilTaskDone(m_taskHandle,10);
        nStatus = DAQmxStopTask(m_taskHandle);
        nStatus = DAQmxClearTask(m_taskHandle);
        m_taskHandle = 0;
        return nStatus;

  • How to generate a single output pulse on 64 different digital out lines (PCI-6513) each with a different start time relative to an event in a main program loop.

    Long question.
    I am running a main program loop of 60 msec. At one point in the loop I create a 64 element array of delay times. At that point I need to begin outputting a predefined single pulse to each of the 64 lines on my PCI-6513. Each line outputs the pulse with a starting delay set by the "delay time" in the array.
    Each delay time is such that the pulses will be done before the next loop commands another one.
    Thank You
    Roger

    Hi,
    You have multiple ways of doing this, since there is no timing engine on the 6513 your code is going to control the output of the card, which is what we called “software timed”.  If you take a look at the example called: “Write Dig Chan.vi”, you can individually control each line.
    So to change the state of the line; since you have an array of delays time you can aid yourself with “stacked sequence structure” where in each frame you control the time it takes to go to the next frame and the data been written to the card.
    Another option is using a state machine where each state write the data you want and you can also control the time between states. For further references take a look at this article Application Design Patterns: State Machines.
    I hope it helps

  • How to check 6 digital signals change value at the same time with PCI-6229??

    I am using DAQ card PCI-6229.
    Channel 1 generate a digital signal.
    Channel 2,3,4,5,6,7 acquire digital signals.
    I want to check:
    1. Whether the rising edge of Channel 2,3,4,5,6,7 occures at the same time;
    2. The time delay from the rising edge of Channel 1 to the rising edge of Channel 2,3,4,5,6,7 is within a certain range.
    I know I can use counter to get the two edge seperation time delay. But I only have two counter, it is two time-consuming if I check one by one.
    I don't know how to check the rising edge of 6 different channels occure at the same time.
    Does anyone has any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    You can use the DAQ card's digital input change detection circuitry to detect changes in the input, you can then use a counter to measure the relative time between samples. Please read Page 6-9 DI Change Detection Applications for more information. Let me know if this helps

  • Can I use Intel 815EP AGP 4X Pentium and plug in 5 Nos NI 6002 PCI counter Timer cards, instead of going for expensive PXI based solution? Hope there will be no degradation in performance - when used for constructing an Energy Meter test Bench.

    I was recommended to buy NI 6002 with PXI series, 5 Nos cards($875x 5 nos), and additionally a PXI rack costing about $ 2195 + some min--- card to interface with the computer costing another $ 875. Compare this with $ 675 x 5 Nos for 5 Nos PCI based NI 6002 + some cablesa nd connectors for synchronisation.
    First option is extremely expensive. But NI marketin manager will be glad that he sold more harware. But I want the truth. Why can't Intel 815 Pentium board be used?

    I am addressing the question if using PCI-6602s instead of using PXI-6602s will affect the performance, and the answer is NO. 6602 counter/timer devices comes in two different form factors, PXI/Compac PCI and PCI. The accuracy and performance is the same for both the PXI and PCI 6602s. However, using PXI solution will allow users an easier time with synchronization since that is the provided in the backplane of the PXI chassis. Additionally, if you ever need a higher accuracy solution you can add the 6608 device which has 75 parts per billion ppb vs 50 ppm of the 6602 devices. With 6608 plugged in the second slot of the PXI chassis (the one next to the controller), the high accuracy timebase is automatically shared acrossed the backplane of the PXI chassis which mean
    s that other 6602 devices in the chassis will share the same accuracy of the 6608. If the difference in the accuracy is not a concern and you are currently not ready to invest in the PXI platform, then you can go with the PCI 6602 devices.

  • Upgraded to USB 2.0 with pci card...works 1 out of 10 times????

    Hi,
    Anyone having this problem? I installed a pci card with usb 2.0
    The high-speed bus is recognized in my "about this mac". However, if I hook up my ipod or any device for that matter, it doesn't recognize it. Do I just need to wait longer? When I first installed the car I did have it connect a few times. But it's very inconsistent. I'm running 10.3.9 and I'm about to upgrade to 10.4. Might this help?
    Thanks in advance
    Pete

    What brand/model card did you install. Not all USB 2.0 PCI cards work in a Mac. Your best bet is any card with a NEC PD720100 or PD720101 chipset (xlr8yourmac results recommend the same). Read this for more feedback: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/firewire/fwusb_card_deepsleep.html
    Stick with the NEC chip, and try NOT to use drivers, OS X doesn't need the drivers.
    All of these Cards are NEC chipset based

  • How can I make a timer that will record elapsed time up to 15 hours with a PCI-6503E DAQ card?

    I'm a beginner LabVIEW programmer, but need to take measurements of elapsed time from the start of data acquisition for up to 15 hours. I'm using a PCI-6503E card. Looking at examples on the web and LabVIEW, itself, I was only able to find a way to take time measurements with a DAQ card up to 167 s, unless two counters were tied together, but there are no instructions on how to do that. Could someone help me? Thanks.

    I suggest you to look in the Resouce Library: inside it there is plenty of useful examples.

  • Using timer/counter with PCI-6221/USB-6210 to control timed-loop VI

    Dear all,
    I need to ask about two devices and one of their functionalities, PCI-6221 and USB-6210. For our NI-based system, we need to control some timings in a Timed-Loop vi, for that currently we are using PCI-6221 and we give external TTL signal (at 1 kHz) to it,
    recenntly we need to make some changes and for that we found USB 6210 DAQ to be more suitable, but we need to clear ourselves on some specific things.
    Can the counter/timers functions available in the either PCI 6221 or USB 6210 can be used to control the Timed-loop VI by giving external clock or by using their own internal clock source?
    Although we are using external clock with the PCI 6221 but we want to know about the usage of their internal clock, also are controlling timed-loop also possible for USB-6210
    Also... What if we use the RTOS, are they still able to control the timed-loop VI  without giving any 'EXTERNAL CLOCK' and using the internal clock sources of the DAQs
    Waiting for reply,

    Ben,
    I having read previous email which I send earlier with general overview, we discussed in more detail within our team and I am giviing the specific answers.
    Please check in RED the most recent answers. Blue are the questions/suggestions by your side.
    1.    Using Internal hardware clock of PCI-6221 would enable us get rid of external clock, but how to divert the internal hardware clock to the current settings. Any idea  (can you provide us with some reference manul for otherwise). I mean is there some flag-bit etc. or VI
    2.       Is it also meant that with the installation of RTOS the timed-loop can directly get the timing source from the internal hardware clock PCI-6221? --- How???
    3.       In order to make desktop to work as RT system, what is the hardware (motherboard, processor, etc..) requirement? What are the LabVIEW modules (specific name) that needed to be installed? Our platform is LabVIEW 8.6. (Currently we have windows-7 with i7 core processor)
    What kind of application are you intending for this system? ---- high-speed laser scanning system.
    Are you most concerned about accuracy, speed, or responsiveness? To control the laser mirror scanner to move at 1 kHz or 2 kHz speed. On the other hands, using PCI-5105 (128 MB memory) as a DAQ for real-time/on-the-fly data processing.

  • Using external time base on PCI-MIO-16XE-50

    What is frequency of the internal time base of PCI-MIO-16XE-50? How can I replace it with my external timebase ( a pulse signal from an atom clock)?
    Also after replacing the internal timebase with external one, the scan rate and channel convert rate will be based on this external timebase automatically, right? For example, I define 1000 scan/s on AI0-AI8, it will be a scan rate based on the external timebase?

    The AI Clock Config.vi can be used to set the scan clock rate. If a person wishes to change the boards internal time base to an external one, the method described in http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/5601c8268d625a3c86256cf50071199d?OpenDocument is the way to do this.
    The PCI-MIO-16XE-50 has a RTSI connector. Please look at the PCI Board JPEG on http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/AD2D553F55A07BBF8625650D005F1F00?OpenDocument for the location of this connector. This site also contains a table of the RTSI Connector Pinouts.
