Hello everyone,
I want to buy 1 NI PCI-6259, 2 Cables(SHC68-68-EPM Cable (2m))  and 2
Connector Blocks (SCB-68 - Shielded).
Would you please tell me do I need another hardwarefor
this product?
I want to this product with Matlab Real Time Windows Target.
Would you please tell me do I need what software for
this product to work with Matlab Real Time Windows Target?
Best regards,

Hello Olivia
I want to measure impedance of a device.
I want to generate a chirp signal and measure impedance this
device by NI PCI 6259.
My frequency is about 10KHZ to 300KH.
I use Windows xp for this task. I want to use Matlab software.
So, for MAtlab software only DAQmx
driver is needed?
Best regards

  • Error "cannot load request real time data targets" for new cube in BI 7.

    Hi All,
WE have recently upgarded our SCM system from 4.1 to SCM 7.0 which incorporated BI 7.0.
I am using BI 7.0 for first time and ahve the following issue:
I ceated a new infocube and data source of flat file and succesfully created transformation, and Data Transfer Process. Everything looked fine. I added flat file and checked preview and could see data. Now when I start job to load data in infocube the follwing error is shown "cannot load request real time data targets".
I checked cube type in setting in infcune is shows as Standard.  When I doube clicked on error the following message showed up
You are trying to load data into a real-time InfoCube using a DTP.
This is only possible if the correct load settings have been defined for the InfoCube.
    Procedure
In the object tree of the Data Warehousing Workbench, call Load Behavior of Real-Time InfoCube from the context menu of the InfoCube. Switch load behavior to Transactional InfoCube can be loaded; planning not allowed.
I did not understand what it is meant and how to set changes. Can someone advice and follow me through.
    Thanks
    KV

    Hi Kverma,
Real-time InfoCubes can be filled with data using two different methods: using the transaction for entering planning data, and using BI staging, whereby planning data cannot be loaded simultaneously. With Real time cube you can select the method you want to use for update as
Real Time data Target can be loaded With Data; Planning not allowed &
Real Time data Target can be Planned; Data loading not allowed
You can change this behaviour by right clicking on cube and selecting Change real time load behaviour and select first option. You will be able to load the data then

  • Open a txt file in a real time PXI target

I want to open and read a txt file when targeting to a PXI, running a real time OS. The file is saved in a specific directory of the real time machine. When I run the typical Labview (version 7.1) examples there is alwasys an error message.

    Hi Matt,
I hope you're doing well.  To be able to open files on the host from the RT target or vice-versa, you most likely will need to FTP the files back and forth between the two.  You need to have the files local on either machine to be able to edit or view them, and FTP is the simplest way to do so.  You can connect to your RT target via any standard FTP utility as discussed in this KnowledgeBase article.  I hope this is helpful.  Let us know if you have any additional questions though.

  • Real Time on Windows

Does LabView have something like a "real-time Windows target"? Or isn't there a way to use Windows as real-time OS?
    Thanks!

There is LabVIEW RT which uses a real-time OS. Windows is not a real-time OS.

  • Not executed jobs with satisfied time windows ?

    Hello all,
I have encountered a weird situation with scripts and jobchains that are using a time window. These scripts and jobchains are also using in their enclosing jobchain a pre condition that test whether their time window is satisfied or not (its status is set to 'skipped' if not).
For the execution of last friday, these scripts and jobchains went to the status 'Skipped' although the related time windows were satisfied:
TW specified to run on Friday (job planned for friday and not the following day)
TW specified to run on the last workday of the month (job planned for friday and not the following day)
So we have just made some tests with ad hoc script, jobchains and time windows to run on:
    Monday
the first workday of the month
    Both of the tests worked.
For information, these jobs have always run successfully (when needed) on others environments.
Have you any idea of what is going on with these time windows?! what could be the cause of that behavior?
    Thanks anyway for your help.
    Regards,
    Yi Jiang

    Hi Yi,
That's no problem, the cause is clear so this thread is useful because other people may also run into this.
Maybe a tip that could fix your issue: if you do not use systimestamp to verify if the time window is open, but use the (planned) starttime of the chain, you can avoid this issue.
By looking at if the starttime of the chain was on a day in a given timewindow, it no longer matters if the chain runs over midnight.
You may need to change other things too, because in this second case, you cannot use a real time window on the call because that would still be taken into account and if you run over midnight, the window may not be open.
So in this second scenario, you need:
    - a separate parameter P_TIME_WINDOW (and P_TIME_WINDOW_PARTITION) on the call to indicate which time window the precondition should follow; the call itself will no longer have an actual time window
    - a changed precondition, using the starttime of the chain and the parameter P_TIME_WINDOW (and P_TIME_WINDOW_PARTITION) on the call to determine if the call should run or not
Let me know if you need more information.

  • MAX not detecting PCI 6259 connected to BNC 2120

I have the DAQmx driver 9.0.2
I have the card (PCI 6259) in a windows XP machine
The breakout box is a BNC 2120
MAX does not detect any devices and interfaces.
    Thanks for any help,
    Fmiles

Does your device show up in Device Manager under data acquisition devices?  If not than it is not being recognized by the computer and you should try moving PCI slots on the card.  If it does not show up under data acquisition devices, right click on it and select uninstall, restart the computer and it should install on its own again.
Was the card installed during the DAQmx install, try reseating the card.
Make sure the NI Device Loader Service is started in Control panel»Administration»Services.  It should be set to started and automatic.
Does DAQmx 9.0.2 appear under Software in the Configuration Pane of Measurement and Automation Explorer, if not, it may not have installed correctly.

  • Is Ardence RTX required when I use PCI-7831R with labview real-time module for RTX target

I am new in the labview real-time field. I want to use labview real-time module for RTX target on only one desktop. My card is PCI-78331R.  Is Ardence RTX necessary? Why I cannot find my card in the MAX after I configured the RTX?
    Thank you very much.

    Hi Ziaozhongda,
You must have the RTX runtime engine installed before the LabVIEW Real-Time RTX module will install.  Additionally, you should follow the instructions in the "Using the NI PCI-7831R with the LabVIEW Real-Time Module for RTX" section of Getting Started with the NI 7831R (page 8).
Please see Configuring Hardware for Use with RTX.

Whether there is a possibility to work with ISA card in Pharlap ETS?
I want to work for example with card PC20TR from BMC Messsysteme GmbH.
Does anyone have tricks for using ISA card in Pharlap ETS?

    Hi,
If you have reviewed the requirements for a Real-Time target and verified that your computer is compliant you might want to check out this article.  The main issue that people encounter when using PC's as RT targets is have the correct network card.  Make sure the card you have is on the supported devices list on the webpage that Christian posted.  You should be able to develop a driver using low level VISA commands but it is not an easy task.  Read over the developer zone article to learn more about it.

  • Problem with DAQmx and Real Time PCI-7041/6040E.

Problem with DAQmx and Real Time PCI-7041/6040E.
I have a problem with the Real Time card PCI-7041/6040E, I think it is properly installed because my software run with the traditional NI-DAQ. When I try to use the new DAQmx to acquire one signal, Labview doesn't see any device for de DAQ card 6040E.
    Information, I work on Windows XP and LabView v7.0.0 (NIDAQ RT v7.0.0, NI-Serial RT v2.5.2, NI-VISA v3.0.1 and NI-Watchdog v2.0.0).
Could Labview RT run with new DAQmx ?
What can I do to use DAQmx with PCI-7041/6040E?
    Thanks for your help !

    Hello,
I refer to your posts because i am using the PCI 7041/6040E card as

  • Show front panel of subVI on a real-time target

    Hi,
I'm running an application on a real-time target (14.00). On the main front panel of the application, I have a button who open another VI with the invoke node method but this component doesn't work with Real-Time taget. So, how can I show the front panel without this method ?
    Thank you

Hint: RT = there should be no GUI.
RT applications are meant to just run off on their own.  GUI is not part of a real RT system since that adds a non-deterministic process to the system, adding jitter (which is a big no-no in RT).  What you should be doing is making a Windows host application that can communicate with the RT system (via Network Streams, TCP/IP, etc).  The host application acts as the GUI/HMI.

  • How to install the NI-DAQmx driver on a real time target PC?

Hi, I’m painful about how I can install a PCI-6363 DAQmx on my real time desktop PC target. The PCI-6363 is directly connected to the real time PC. And I’m using LabVIEW 2011 and MAX 5.0.
The DAQmx device driver can be seen in software lIst in the host PC, but it can not be found in the install wizard. Is there something wrong with my host PC? or is that wrong to connect PCI-6363 with real time desktop PC?
I would be grateful for any advice that I could get here.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Zhleo,
If you are about to use the PCI-6363 with the Real-Time Desktop you are right you need to have it installed, and then you need to deploy DAQmx driver software to the real-time target.
To do that you access your real-time desktop under Remote Systems in MAX and start the Real-Time Software Wizard. There you should see DAQmx listed.
In case you do not have DAQmx listed there, see this KB: Deploying DAQmx to a Real-Time Controller or PC?

  • Is it possible to remotely start an exectutable/application on Real-Time target?

    Hi All,
Apologies if this is an obvious question - I could not get an applicable answer using any search terms I could think of - and I am quite new to Real-Time programming.
Is it possible to launch a headless real-time .exe (or uncompiled application saved on the RT machine) using an input from a remote VI - an .exe running on a Windows based laptop for example. I am currently building an application where my Windows based GUI communicates with the RT machine using shared variables. However I would soon like to hand my code over to a colleague who is going to test the application.I seem to recall that a .exe can be saved in a specific folder on the RT machine such that it will launch on start-up. However I would prefer to store multiple .exe's on the machine and allow my colleague to choose which one to launch.
My first thought is to write a wrapper .exe (which will autolaunch) which can then launch any other .exe saved on the machine using the wrapper. However I would much prefer to launch the .exes directly and one at a time if possible - it seems a more elegant solution.
    Kind regards and thanks,
    Dave

Well there is certainly a way to do it but NI does not expose that method.  You can however programmatically reboot a RT target and also you can use the FTP vi's to rename the 'startup.rtexe' file that will autorun on reboot.  Good Luck!

  • Cannot run Simulink dll at the same time as running real-time target VI

    Hello
What I am trying to do is run a model dll created in Simulink to control some servo's through a CompactRio 9014.
At the moment I have managed to create three VIs
    1) In the FPGA target that performs the PWM on a desired channel
    2) That takes the value of a network variable which contains the position required and feeds that to the 1st VI
    3) A VI that runs on the host computer that modifies the value of the network variable to change the position
I can get these three VIs working and the servo controlled, but when I try to update the value of the network variable using the simulation, by deploying the simulation to the RT target and running it, it says
'Access denied: This target is already in use by another project or host computer.'
I assume as this is because the project is already connected to the cRio, so I disconnect and am able to deploy the model files.
However when I try to run one of the VIs in the RT Targer along with the simulation I get the error:
'This VI is downloaded on the target but is not present in the project you are attempting to deploy.  All VIs on the target will be closed unless you choose to add the missing VI to the project.'
With a large number of missing VIs...
Would I be doing this wrong, i.e. is there a much simplier way to control the FPGA inputs using the simulation, or is there something I could have missed?
    Thanks

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Geoff,
It seems that you are on the right track except for some concepts that I
    want to review:
A CompactRIO or cRIO has 3 different components:
    1)
    Real-Time controller (in your case a 9014)
    2)
    FPGA backplane (this could be a 9102, or a 9103, 910x,
    etc)
    3)
    I/O modules (like a 9401, 9263, etc)
When you write an application for cRIO you usually have three different VIs:
    1)
Host VI – This VI is used as a user interface and runs in
Windows (under “My Computer” in the LabVIEW project) This VI is optional because
you might want to run the cRIO headless.
    2)
RT VI – This is the VI that runs in the cRIO controller
(in your case the 9014).  This VI lives
under the cRIO target in your LabVIEW project.
    3)
FPGA VI – This is the VI that runs in the cRIO
backplane like a 9102.  This lives under
the cRIO >> FPGA target in the LabVIEW project.
The ONE application that I was talking about in my last post is for the RT
VI.  There can only be one RT VI that
gets deployed.  If you want to run
multiple VIs in the cRIO RT, then you need to run those VIs as subVIs of one
    top level VI.
LabVIEW Simulation Interface Toolkit (SIT) has a tool called the SIT
Connection Manager that creates two of these three VIs for you (the RT and the
    Host VIs).
Please refer to the following link about the SIT Help.  Go to the How To section.  It is organized in a kind of step by step
    tutorial.
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371504D-01/
In your case it is going to be a bit more difficult because of two things:
One, you are using a VxWorks target.
Two, you want to use your own FPGA VI.
Let’s address each one of them:
    1)
VxWorks target- To use the SIT Connection Manager you
need to use a DLL not an OUT file, even though you need the OUT file for the cRIO VxWorks target.  The reason is
that this tool needs to read the compiled model to know what the
parameters, signals, inports and outports of your model are.  Because the tool runs in Windows you cannot
open an OUT file (meant for a different OS) so you need to give it a DLL.
For this reason you will need to compile your model file into an OUT
file and a DLL.  Once you give a DLL to
the Connection Manager and you select your cRIO as the execution target, keep
doing the rest of the steps as the help says.
LabVIEW will identify that you are using a VxWorks target and will
download the OUT file to the cRIO.
    2)
Custom FPGA VI – LabVIEW SIT has some FPGA bitfiles
(compiled FPGA VIs) that it can use.
When you open the SIT connection manager and go to the Hardware IO
mapping section it asks you to select the bitfile.  If you want, you can select one of the
    shipping bitfiles but iIf you
want to use your own, then you will need to do some changes to your FPGA VI , recompile it and
save the bitfile in a specific location with a specific name.
Please refer to the following link for
instructions on how to create your custom FPGA VI:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371504D-01/lvsithowto/sit_h_custfpga/
What I would suggest is that you start with a very simple example and using
one of the shipping bitfiles.  Look into
the following path for a very simple Sine wave generation example:
    C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\examples\Simulation
    Interface\Sine Wave
Because you are running a VxWorks target you will need to recompile this
example model sinewave.mdl to an OUT file.
To get a better understanding of what SIT does you might
want to check some quick videos. Go to
    http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/11763  and under the
resources tab there are two videos called Demo - <something>...
Hope this helps and let me know if you have more questions.

  • How can I put C files gave me from Matlab Simulink Real Time Workshop in a CIN?

I'm doing a turbine simulation, and I've already done it in Matlab Simulink Real Time Workshop. It gave me files .c, and I want to use them to run the same simulation on a PCI 7030/6040 using LabView RT 5.1. I'm using the CINs. My problem is that I'm able to have .lsb files, but them don't work....I mean I have as output the same result 0(zero). What can I do for solving my problem?

  • Is there support for the AC-1000 target real-time system?

    Hi,
Is NI supporting the AC-1000 target real-time system? We've used MatrixX, SysBld, Autocode, and Realsim to compile, link, download, and run various control models on the target real-time system for interfacing with hardware. The AC-1000 has 2-3 processors running a pSOS Operating System, multiple I/O boards, and a MIL-STD-1553 bus. It's connected to an NT workstation via a LAN and a serial cable.
So, any information regarding support and maintenance would be very helpful. Thank you for your time!

Although NI acquired MATRIXx, we did not acquire the RealSim hardware (AC-1000, AC-104, and PCI-Pro). Wind River retains the ownership of the hardware but is not supporting the product line. Wind River has made available the attached parts list for the RealSim hardware so that customers can self-service existing systems.
NI doesn't plan to develop or support RealSim - and is directing customers who wish to continue to use this software/hardware to 3rd parties. The following NI Alliance members can provide RealSim support.
