PCL to PDF

I'd like to generate a pcl file and store it for future use, and convert pcl to pdf and display the generated pdf in browser.
A couple of questions:
1. I could generate pcl using OutputClient.generatePrintedOutput(). Is this the only way?
2. Couldn't find a way to convert pcl to pdf. Checked GeneratePdfServiceClient.createPDF() method. According to JavaDoc, "The supported file formats are Microsoft (MS) Word, MS Powerpoint, MS Excel, MS Project, MS Visio, MS Publisher, and Autocad." PCL's not listed.
Help appreciated.

You can only generate PCL through output. There is no code to allow you to go from PCL to PDF. There must be a 3rd party that does that but I am not aware of anything.

  • Are there any PCL to PDF converters for Macs

We have a Windows only software that produces PCL files. I am wondering if there is a converter so that we can view said files as PDFs on our Macs. Does anyone have experience with this in the Mac OS or do we have to install XP or Vista to open the files?

    Hi Donald;
I just did a Google search for PCL to PDF converter and it produced pages of them!

  • Flowable Tables in LiveCycle Designer as Dynamic PDFs

Hi just wondering if in a table under Row 1 I can add an additional field and it will still be flowable (see attached)
If there are multiple items that need to be added I want the user to be able to add additional notes that is also expandable but I want it to remain as a list format like the attached - is this possible?

    Lorain,
I am not sure if this can be done with LiveCycle Designer,  we have done this with a product that works with LiveCycle.  You can feed the XML data to DocOrigin and it supports this for output to PCL, PS, PDF and HTML.  Not sure if it this will help you.  You can also convert the XDP to use it in the DocOrigin Designer.   DocOrigin will not replace LC Forms but can be a nice addition for generation of the output for print, email or web.
Here is a sample of the output  The table has a detail line item followed by 1 to X descriptive comments.  Another nice feature is the ability to alter the background color of every other line item, this is done by checking a box.   Support for Widows and Orphans is also supported across pages and pagination is automatic.   You can also include images in the detail line, however we had to keep the image small in this case because we do not know in advance how may comments are going to be included with any given line item.

  • HP LaserJet MFP M476dw paper size mismatch when copying or scanning from ADF

We have HP Color LaserJet MFP M476dw that has an issue when copying or scanning from the ADF.
Put a single A4 sheet in the ADF and choose copy, with all settings correct & no resizing, and the output copy is moved down the page (increased top marging by a couple of inches).
My initial thoughts were a paper size issue (e.g. treating A4 as Letter or vice versa) but all settings look correct.  I have even done a reset and started over and the problem remains.
If I take the original and place it on the flatbed and copy from there with all the same settings then it works fine.
There is a similar issue when scanning from the ADF.  Again, scanning from the flatbed works fine.
I've tried all I can think of.  Does anyone have any further suggestions?  Could it be a fault in the ADF?

  • Ipad(4th gen) does not connect to Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw for AirPrinting

    Hi,
I have a problem with Laserjet 100 color MFP M175nw and Airprinting.
Ipad(4th gen) cannot connect to printer for AirPrinting.
Wireless Direct is set on in the printer.
When I choose to connect to printers own wifi network with my Ipad, it can't connect.
(Ipad doesn't show the wifi symbol on top left corner.)
And if I try to print with Safari, it says "AirPrint-tulostimia ei löytynyt" which means in english "No Airprint-printers found".
I have all installations by the guide book several times, but seems that this Airprint simple doesn't work.
    Device Configuration show this:
    Installed Personalities and Options
    PCL6           (20040201)
    AirPrint
    PCL              (20040201)
    PDF              (20040201)
    PS                 (20040201)
I wonder why AirPrint has empty value? (what ever this  might mean)
    Br,
    Heikki

    Hi,
Thank you for your reply and first action plan to find a quick fix.
Unfortunatelly even though I disabled IPv6, it didn't fix the problem. Also reboot and WIFI restart has been tryed sevelar times without any help. Ipad Safari is still giving me a message "no airprint printer found".
Same problem also when I try to print so that both Ipad and printer are  connected to my home WLAN/DSL-router.
I don't see any problems for the printer to connect my home WLAN,  both printer and Ipad has received an IP address from the WLAN router.
My router model is Zyxel AMG1202-T10B.
Ipad is updated to it's latest SW version which is 7.0.6. and printer's firmware date is 20131028.
I have no problems printing with my Windows 7 desktop computer which is connected to same network as well.
Windows 7 PC is connected to router via Ethernet. Printer is connected to router via Wireless, not ethernet.

  • What are the options to print pay stubs? what type prtr configs? security ?

Hi everyone on the HCM community and BASIS,
We have ECC 6 on windows 64bit server.  We are in the process of going live with HCM in SAP and are looking for the most effecient and secure method to print pay stubs.
we are also configuring online pay statements, however for go live we would like to be able to also print the pay stubs.
Currently we have the following method set up to print thru windows.  We installed the sapsprint software on a file print server.  the synchronization happens between SAP and the file print server with file print server name definition.  SAP sends the print requests to the file print server which in turn prints the report/file and sends the confirmation back to SAP.
We do however have 2 printers which are directly defined on the server and restricted to ONLY staff assigned special priviledges for print A/P cheques in their area.
The NEW requirement is to have either a .PCL or .PDF file of ALL print stubs printed in our printshop.  And I am not clear on how this would happen.  Would we have to define a NEW printer in SAP with a specific driver to accomodate the printshop printer (depending on the type of printer that it is?)
Please keep in mind that the printers in the print shop are varied and sometimes used to print books, manuals etc..  I beleive they also have RICOH type printers similar to what we use in th office.  And all of this would be done over the network.
So For now we just wanted to explore what would be required to print a PDF file , what SAP printer configurations would be required and secured and the same for the PCL files.
Any information would definitely be appreciated!!!

    Hello
SAP supports PDF conversion in 2 way's:
      1. Convert using program RSTXPDFT4 , RSTXPDFT2 , RSTXPDF
      2. Convert using printer device type ZPDFxx
    Refer to SAP note:
317851 - Creating PDF format using the SAP spooler
    Additional details:
Print to a file printer which you set-up on Windows platform.
When you set 'Host Printer: __Default' in the output device definition
in SPAD, the print is automatically sent to the defualt Windows printer
as set up in the Frontend User's Windows PC. This is usually a regular
    printer.
To get this to work, you need to set up a 'Print to File' printer in the
Windows print manager of your Frontend PC as follows:
        a. 'Settings' -> 'Printer' -> 'Add Printer'
        b. On the window that appears, click on 'Next' button.
        c. Select 'Local Printer' and click on 'Next'
        d. Select the port 'FILE Print to File'
        e. Select 'Generic/Text Only' driver
        f. Enter 'Printer Name' eg: PDFTEST
        g. Share as: eg: PDFTEST
        h .Finish
Then in the output device definition in transaction SPAD, you need to
set the Host Printer field to the same name as you defined your 'Print
to File' printer in the Windows.
e.g. in the example above, the setting would be:
      Host Printer: PDFTEST
    Regards.

  • Conversion from IBM BookMaster to Pages

I would like to convert several large documents from IBM BookMaster (Script VS) to Pages '09. Currently, source is in z/VM ASCII and marked-up with GML.
I wrote some utilities to do the general tag-removal work and the samples look fine when imported to Pages. There are two functions which I am unable to replicate and was wondering whether anyone could suggest a technique to achieve the results in Pages.
Firstly, self-incrementing variables; an element which displays a number and increments in value with each occurrence.
Secondly, internal page-number reference links; ... see section +name from link+ on page +linked value+ for details...
Any help with these items and general U/E with the conversion process would be greatly appreciated.

I wouldn't know how to convert from IBM AFP Advanced Function Presentation as page description language to PCL, PS, PDF or XPS. With regard to converting from IBM GML (which I take it stands for Graphics Markup Language, as an SGML implementation), your best bet may be to map your markup from IBM GML to ISO OOXML. Adobe XMP Extensible Markup Platform should be in the initial stages of an international standard. In reality, relatively lossless repurposing revolves around three dimensions of unification: unification of the character information (ISO-IEC 10646), unification of the colour information (ISO 15076) and unification of the content information (structure information). It's a bit of a jungle, though .

  • Dynamic Tables in LiveCycle

    Greetings,
I have a form that I am creating that is using dynamic tables with an Add Row button as well as a Delete Row Button.  The form looks normal when it is opened in LiveCycle Designer and Acrobat.  The issue is when the form is saved using the Save As function.  When the Save As function is used, the table adds a blank row.  And every subsequent Save As adds another blank row.  I am using the following JavaScript functions for my Add/Delete buttons.  Thank you in advance for your help!
    Add -  Table2.Row1.instanceManager.addInstance();
    Delete - Table2.Row1.instanceManager.removeInstance(this.parent.parent.index);
    Save AS
    DesignerAcrobat

    Lorain,
I am not sure if this can be done with LiveCycle Designer,  we have done this with a product that works with LiveCycle.

  • CL_RSRD_PRODUCER_PRECALC Error when Printing using Info Broadcasting

    Hi,
I get the following error when trying to print from the Portal using Information Broadcasting - CL_RSRD_PRODUCER_PRECALC, type PROD.  I am trying to print using PS or PCL not PDF.
We are running SPS12.  The printer is setup in BW and tested.  All other connections between Portal and BW appear to be working.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

Thanks,  but that note applies to Patch 8 and as mentioned we are running SPS12.
Basically what happens is we get a blank browser window for some time then the error returns as mentioned in my original post.

  • Converting Bitmap To Outline

    Hello;
does there any program that Convert a Bitmap Font to Outline??
    thanks

We have a program that converts HP bitmap fonts into bitmap TrueType fonts.
We developed this on-the-fly converter for use in our PCL to PDF transformation tool kit. Embedding the bitmap .TTF's in a PDF was okay for printing the PDF. However, they looked horrible when rendering to a low resolution device like a screen. And, scaling these fonts look horrible.
It would not take much for us to autotrace the bitmap data to generate the scalable outline .TTF's. The problem is deciding what character mapping to use? Since the majority of bitmap fonts are mapped to an HP symbol set... how would you expect to access the cent sign character in cell 155 of .TTF mapped to the PC-8 character set? You'd have to assume to know which of 100's of symbol sets the bitmap font was mapped to before you converted it into a .TTF.
And, a unhinted .TTF isn't going to provide high quality at low resolution and/or small point sizes.
So, it depends on the your application requirements whether a font created this way is going to get you where you want to go...

  • Create a PDF with DDX that can be converted to PCL by generatePrintedOutput

    Hi all,
I have a scenario that puzzles me a bit.
I have some forms that are Interactive forms (stored as XDP with the property Dynamic XML Form).
I need to assemble these xdp-forms (and fill them with data) and add it all up in one PDF. This PDf should be converted to PCL and later shipped off to a printer. However I see a conflict in doing this by using the Invoke DDX and generatePrintedOutput services.
I can easily create my PDF, but to make it work I have to include the <NoForms> tag in my DDX. However when I do this I end up with a non xfa-based PDF. When I try to pass this to the generatePrintedOutput service it complains that the form is not XFA-based.
If I then remove my <NoForms> tag from my DDX I get the error from Assembler telling me that "the baseDocument cannot be assembled becasuse it is an XFA-based form".
What am I doing wrong? Could you elaborate a little on the behavior of these two services.
I have found the link to the documentation on page 38 in http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/ddxRef.pdf, however I don't think it tells me what is wrong.
    Please advice
    Thanks in advance

Open in PS and print to the Adobe PDF printer. However, a 448MB TIFF seems huge. At 200 dpi and 24 bit color (millions of colors) that leaves you with a 61inX61in graphic. Even at 600dpi, that is 20X20.
For us to help you, please indicate exactly how you are trying to convert from PhotoShop. For Acrobat, are you trying to open the TIFF in Acrobat directly? Is the TIFF a single sheet, or multiple sheet? There are a lot of unanswered questions for us.
One of the limitations on file size is the size of the temporary PS file that is created in the PDF creation process. This PS file is created in the TEMP folder that is limited by MS. So you might try emptying the TEMP folder.

  • HP M1536 PCL XL error or inverted PDF document

    Hello,
We're having some trouble with an m1536dnf All-In-One printer one of our clients recently acquired. The printer itself is connected to the network via ethernet cable and the computers that are printing to it either via cable or wireless. They are all using either Windows Vista or Windows 7.
They all seem to print just fine, with the exception of some PDF documents from some of their clients. These documents either do not print and we get a printout of a PCL XL error (when trying to print from Adobe Reader) or do print, but with black background and white text (Foxit Reader).
    The PCL XL error is:
    PCL XL Error
    Subsystem: KERNEL
    Error: ExtraData
    File Name: kerlib.c
    Line Number: 9024
    Things we've already tried:
    - updating both Adobe Reader and Foxit Reader
    - updating printer driver (unfortunately there is only one version available: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4062&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3974... )
    - updating printer firmware
    - reinstalling
    - installing via USB or printer sharing
    - saw a page ( http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c00064499 ) describing our issue but could not find a way to switch to a PCL 5 driver
    - using the Generic driver found here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=4157320&...
    - installed on a PC with Windows XP
It seemed at some point that a solution was to switch the printing resolution from 600 dpi to 1200 FastRes (both with EconoMode activated). However, after doing this another document showed up with the same problem. It may not seem like a serious issue to some, but with a bunch of users who have only basic knowledge about using computers issues like this can grow into big problems.
We also have little information about the PDF documents and their source, but as far as I could figure out at least most of them are generated by scanning from other multifunction printers.
We also took the printer back to our supplier and explained the issue. We could also demonstrate with a PDF file but could not leave the file with them due to privacy issues. They tried printing with the Generic driver but with no joy as the issue kept manifesting. If we send it to warranty they will most probably print a number of documents and say it's working OK (I would do the same in their position ), this is why I was wondering if any of the people here are experiencing the same issue with this printer or have any ideas on how to solve it.
    Thank you in advance,
    Eugen Sechel.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Right click on the Printer icon - In Control Panel
    Go to Printing Preferences.
    Go to Advanced Tab.
Then under Printer Features, go to Print Data Optimization and select it to “Optimise for Text and Vector”.
    Then click on OK.
Then try to print any Document and it will print fine without any PCL xxxx error.

  • How to read tags from pdf to print in different printers (PCL or PS)

Hello from Spain.. I would apreciate some help who to read tags from pdf to discriminate PDF Production tag for send print PDF to printer job using driver PCL or PS. I get trubles when print PDFs files made by PDFcreator (Ghostscript, intermediate PDF from PS) in PCL job printer. I need to eval tags from PDF for send command line os javascript inside Adobe Acrobat to print in the correct job printer: PCL or PS...
    Thanks.

As noted you cannot access the "Tag" of a PDF but you can access the meta data of a PDF and one of the items recorded in the meta data is the "producer". This meta data tag is supposed contain the name of the program that produced the PDF. One can access this through the "info" property or the "metadata" property of the doc object.
    var cProducer = this.info.Producer; // get the producer application for this PDF;
    console.show();
    console.clear();
    console.println("This PDF was created by " + cProducer);
Be aware that the user can easily modify the Producer information with Acrobat, JavaScript, or other application after the PDF has been created.

  • Printing pdf or pcl from abap

    Hi experts,
may be my problem is to simple, but I can't find an answer in the forum.
I want to print a pdf or pcl (either format will work) on a printer. This printing should happen in an ABAP
program. In this program I get the file via a web service as XSTRING. I also have the destination from the printer in a table from type NAST.
So the question is, what command, program, BAPI, class or whatever can I use to print this file on the
    designated printer?
