PDF Document Won't Appear in Share Folder

When attempting to save the document to a network share folder of her choosing, the PDF document is not in the folder. User is saving the pdf from a loan system. To trouble shoot I saved a txtx file and it did appear in the shared folder - any thoughts?

If safari is showing a download (is that what you mean by "safari downloads box"?) then it is (was) a download in progress and has not completed to make the final finished download.

  • PDF Documents Won't Download

When I click on a PDF document, the web site opens up a new tab and puts the PDF in the new tab. From there, I can scroll the PDF and zoom in and out of the PDF.
However, Download or View in Preview icons (located bottom center of the page) nothing happens. The file does not download, nor will it open in preview.
I checked the Internet Plug-ins folder and did see AdobePDF reader was installed, so I uninstalled those. But I still have the problem.
Any suggestions to fix this issue is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • "Compress images in pdf documents" won't work

    I created this workflow:
    1. Get selected Finder objects
    2. Compress images in pdf documents
    3. Copy Finder objects to...
... but it won't work, the images are not compressed. Anyone any suggestions?

To examine this I made three pdf documents from three Pages documents (running compression during export to pdf) each containing one image: one psd, one tiff and one jpg image. Running the workflow on these pdfs, the pdfs containing the psd and the tiff files were compressed but not the pdf containing the jpg image. I then made two pdf documents exported from Indesign containing a tiff file; one pdf export compressing and downsampling the tiff image and one with no downsampling and compression. Running the workflow on these two pdfs did not further compress the already compressed pdf, but did compress the pdf containing the uncompressed image. To further optimize pdf documents already compressed on export from Indesign one has to use Acrobat, which, of course, is the most efficient and flexible tool for optimizing pdf documents.

  • PDF documents won't open in browser page

I've been having trouble with Safari lately. This is my main browser, and whenever I try to open any PDF documents, I get an error message that goes something like "There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found." Whenever I have to see a PDF document, I have to open another browser (IE 9) and paste the URL in order to view the document. I...think that this error has been showing up ever since I updated Adobe Reader... =/
Is there any way that I can fix this?
    * Currently have Safari 5.0.2

think that this error has been showing up ever since I updated Adobe Reader
By way of experiment, if you uninstall and reinstall your Adobe Reader, does Safari still display the same behavior?
(Wondering here if your nppdf32.dll, which controls the Adobe PDF plugin, might be slightly damaged. I think the relevant copy of the file that Safari uses lives in the Reader files. If so, a reinstall of Reader may help.)

  • Pdf documents do not appear in Acrobatformat (as they used to)

In my good old Firefox ODf's appeared as an Acrobat document, now they don't anymore (they -still- do in Safari and Chrome)

    Hi Pierre,
For troubleshooting this issue, please help check the following stuffs.
    1. Aren't all documents showed in search results page(i.e. results.aspx) within enterprise search center site?
    2. Does it happen to all users? All FBA users? All Windows users?
    3. Have you tried creating a new enterprise search center site for testing this issue? Verify if there is customization on search/results web parts.
    4. Have you find related Events/ULS log with more useful error messages when search a document with this issue, which would help troubleshoot the issue?
    http://melcher.it/2014/10/hes-dead-jim-sharepoint-2013-search-troubleshooting/
    5. If possible, perform a reset of search index, run a full crawl, then test search again.

  • PDF document won't load.

When I try to download a document from a website I get the yellow triangle of death along with an error mesage that says "could not find Acrobat External Window Handler" and the page won't load.

  • Hyperlinks within .PDF document won't open in browser.

So what I want to happen is when I click a hyperlink within a .PDF file which is opened via Adobe Reader XI, I want a new tab/browser (the link) to be opened with/in Chrome.
Currently when I hover my mouse over a link, it turns into a clicky hand thing with a tiny letter 'w' and the address floats above in a box. When I try to shift/normal/ctrl click the link, nothing happens.
Default settings in the reader and chrome.
    Thanks!

Yes. If I open this .pdf file in chrome and click the link, a new tab will open with the link.
Also, I just found something else out. When I open the settings in Adobe Reader and try clicking on the 'help' links such as 'What is protected view' under 'security', I get a message saying "Online help content cannot be displayed. Verify you can launch your web browser and have access to the Internet".

  • Pdf documents won't open for me

When in a web site like the VA Portal or local Board of Realtors, when I try to open .pdf files, all I get is a "x" boxed, in the upper left corner.  How can I get them to open?  I have Acrobat X, fully updated.

think that this error has been showing up ever since I updated Adobe Reader
By way of experiment, if you uninstall and reinstall your Adobe Reader, does Safari still display the same behavior?

  • The last page of every pdf document won't print.

If I ask to print just one page - nothing.   If I ask for two pages, I get the first page.   Help.  Using Mac OSX 10.9.5 and Adobe 11.0.09
I tried printing using an older version of Adobe, had the 'won't print last page problem' so I upgraded to the latest version.   Still the same exact problem.    Does anyone have suggestions?

I have the same problem, but not just in Acrobat. Indesign also. So... I can't print a single page. Have to print two, and toss the one I don't want. Seems to be a problem with Adobe print interface. I can sometimes "trick" it by going to system print dialog box and back out again.

  • PDF document apparently not created, because it does not appear

I am temporarily booting up from a cloned backup of my hard drive located on an external hard drive, because my G4 Powerbook (containing my actual hard drive) is being repaired.  I use Acrobat Standard 7.0, on a Tiger operating system (Mac OS X v. 10.4.11).
Normally, I create a PDF version of a Word document by simply printing it to PDF -- selecting “Adobe PDF 7.0” in the Print dialogue.  Briefly after hitting “print,” a PDF document named “TemporaryCustom_PS_File” appears on the desktop.  Now, however, no PDF document of any sort appears -- on the desktop or anywhere else I can detect.  (A smart search reveals no relevant document has been newly created or modified, or appropriately named, etc.)
I am hopeful this problem will not continue when and if I am again able to use my hard drive.  But, in the meantime, how can I rectify this?

PS: Perhaps I should add that I am printing from a CLASSIC version of Word, so the print dialogue box does not offer such things as “PDF options,” “Save as PDF,” or even “Copies & Pages.”  It is very basic -- just identifies the printer as “Adobe PDF 7.0” and lets me choose a page range.  (Only “destinations” available are “Printer” and “File.”)

  • Preview and Acrobat Reader not opening pdf documents

I downloaded and installed Adobe Acrobat Reader on my new iMac and since then old, new and every other pdf document won't open with a message stating it was damaged etc. Previous good pdf won't open and I fear it is down to installing Acrobat reader. Any ideas?
Just want to see pdf documents

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print or save PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to do so by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar should appear under the cursor. Click the printer or disk icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
              Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
              Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others—I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • How do you allow users to create comments on a pdf document?

Please can you assist I previously loaded a pdf document and was able to share with others, they could see my comments as I was adding these. They could also add comments and click publish for me to see these. .
The second time round it does not seem to work and does not allow me to mark up my comments (it only allows download). I have tried collaborate live but that does not seem to work either.
    Thank you.

You should be able to take the permissions you have set and "apply to enclosed items." I am trying to attach a picture of what this looks like so my apologies if it does not work.
Highlight your folder you want and go to File>Get Info or command+I and at the bottom where it has Sharing and Permissions, click the lock button to authenticate. Click the gear and click "apply to enclosed items". See if that works.

  • Can I Create A Symbolic Link to folders stored on an SMB Share folder?

    Hello,
I am very new to Unix and was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction with regards to Symbolic links and an SMB share folder ....
Have purchased an ext. LAN Drive enclosure (http://www.macpower.com.tw/products/hdd3/pleiades/pd_usblan) which connects to my wireless router via ethernet like my G5 (main Mac) - our iBook connects via Airport. I have copied all my general documents/files to the SMB share folder on the ext. drive so that I can access them from the G5 and also the iBook.
However I'd also like to be able to store my actual Mail folder (/Users/Mark/Library/Mail/), , Safari folder (/Users/Mark/Library/Safari) + my Address Book and other folders sitting in the Application Support folder on my SMB share so all important docs/folders are in the one place. I've tried storing these folders on the SMB share and putting an Alias to these back in Users/Mark/Library/Mail etc but of course an Alias doesn't work.
Question 1: Can I create a symbolic link to these files if these are stored on an SMB share folder? If so, could you please tell me exactly what I'd need to type into Terminal? My SMB Share path is smb://STORAGE-XXXX/MARK
I have copied my iPhoto library and iTunes library to the SMB share and are working fine.
Question 2: Is it possible/worth attempting to move my whole home folder to the SMB share folder? Ideally, I'd like to be able to access my Mail from the iBook as well. If I could log into either the G5 or the iBook and access my latest Mail, Address Book and other Application Settings, that would be perfect. Would this be possible?
    Thanks
    Mark.
    Dual 1.8GHz G5 (Rev.B), 2Gig RAM, 9600XT   Mac OS X (10.4)

    Dear Mark,
Yes you can. The command to create a link will look something like this:
    $ ln -s thisFolder /Users/mark/thatFolder
I did this while I was hosting a microsoft based game. This put all of the players into a common directory.
SMB just resolved the link and everything worked fine.
However, as I understand it, some other applications do NOT work very well with links. As I have NOT tried it with other applications, I fear I can be of NO help to you in this matter.
The only way to find out which applications work with links is to try them and see what happens.
    Best of luck,
    Kurt
