PDF Export Interactive Report

Hello,
i have a interarcite report, which is really simple (Select * from table). I'm using an interactive report to present the given data. If i want to export to pdf it works fine with a small number of rows. Using a huge number of rows the pdf file gets invalid and i cannot open it anymore.
Anybody any idea? how many rows are possible to be exported to pdf?

This is the error message which is written into the pdf file. Getting further information is going to take me some time.
But i think you might be right with the limit of the apache server!

Just created an Interactive report under 3.1.1 of Apex
Selected the PDF and CSV options.
CSV is fine.
When PDF is selected it appears to be created.
However, when it is opened Adobe Acrobat gives and error (not support or damaged file type).

PDF from Interactive Report - general question

I read in another post that there may be plans to make it so that PDFs downloaded from an Interactive Report will include the formatting in the report. Is this true? If so, will it work with the Apache FOP?

How to avoid line break ( br ) while exporting Interactive report in Excel

Hi,
I have a Interative report and I am using Apex download format as CSV.
I have defined some of the column heading in multiple line using break 
when I export this into the excel sheet..the column heading contains break also..
- Any idea how to avoid line break while exporting in excel.
- also how to put the columns heading in BOLD when exported in excel.

Download csv and pdf in interactive report

Hi,
I'm getting below error while opening a PDF file downloaded from an interactive report (APEX).
Adobe reader cound not open "TEST.pdf"because it is either not supportd file or because the file has been damaged. Also when i download in csv format the report does not strip html tag from the data in the report. Interactive report does not seem to have the html strip option unlike in classic reports.

did you read the pdf inside an text editor. If you do, you'll surely notice an sql error or a java error.
I discovered for myself that the PDF reports aren't working anymore if I have 19 or over columns. The text buffer used by APEX went overflow.
Im seraching for a solution, but I haven't found one yet, except then reducing the number columns.

Export Interactive reporting with javascript

i have some problem when i try to export in excel my report created with Interactive Reporting.
I use the javascript code inside the button and at onClick event i succeded only the file conversion in mhtml format.
The next step is conversion from mhtml in xls format, but i think that the instance JooleObject don't.
Below the code that i use:

I use IR Studio (Desktop) and public the report in the workspace when the report is complete.

I set a control break on the "Relco" column, so APEX generates correctly more "sub-report".
I need to export into csv file every single "sub-report".
Is it possible ?
Does another solution exist ?

Hello,
Getting the breaks in the csv export doesn't work unfortunately.
You would need to create your own procedure to get the correct csv.
There are many blog posts for that

Interactive Report Subscription emailing different dataset

Hi All,
I am having a bit of strange problem with subscriptions email on an interactive report.
I have the report to email users every morning from an interactive report. The dataset that is emailed is not the same as the report on the interactive report screen. The variance between what is emailed and what is on the report screen page is quite large and it is not an issue of the data changing between the email fist going out and the report screen being viewed.
Also, is there a way for a user to 'unsubscribe' from a report?

While exporting from DEV you should set NO for following options
<li> Export Private Interactive Reports
<li> Export Interactive Report Subscriptions
Because, Private Reports and Subscriptions will be made by end-users and they will be made on Prod systems. So if you export them from DEV and import into PROD, then all private reports and subscriptions will be lost on PROD.

Upgrade To 4.2 Saved Interactive Reports

We are currently upgrading our environments to Apex 4.2 from 3.2.
Some of our applications have saved interactive reports.
Is there anything special I need to do, so we don't lose these ?

Under Export Preferences
Select Yes in Export Private Interactive Reports
see below for info
Export Supporting Object Definitions =     Yes
Export Public Interactive Reports      = Yes
Export Private Interactive Reports =              Yes
Export Interactive Report Subscriptions =     No
Export Developer Comments      = Yes
Export Translations      = No
This will export your Saved Interactive Reports.

step 1:- Download process type plugin named "excel_plugin". this is process type plugin.
step2:- Import the given plugin in your application from shared component-> Plugin
step3:-To use this plugin add a new process to a page in your application, based on this plugin
Use as Process Point "On Load - Before Header"
Use a Condition Type Request = Expression 1
Expression1 = XLS
step 4:- Create one button on your page.
Action : Redirect to Page in this Application and page number should be your report page.
Request : XLS

Interactive Report Subscriptions

I have not seen a viable solution to this issue of subscriptions being wiped out when exporting from a development environment to a production environment. I understand internal ids will be different and I shouldn't have to write a bunch of code to try to offset the numbers as I have seen in some posts.
When exporting I am exporting the entire application.
Under the export preferences I am setting all to Yes. Still no subscriptions.
I have even tried to do an export/import of the wwv_flow_worksheet_notify and get error: Parent key not found. I don't know what parent key is failing.
I have looked at the export file searching for wwv_flow_api.create_worksheet_notify. It is not there.
I need a solution ASAP. I have to manually recreate each subscription for the end user, that is if I remember to capture it before I import it!

Users Email Subscriptions of Interactive Reports, getting deleted

Hi,
We have apex 4.0.2 version instances installed in DEV, Test, Prod environments.
We use the same app id across all the 3 environments
eg: App no 200 is used in all the 3 environments.
The users subscriptions for the interactive reports are getting deleted,
when the App from Dev is moved to Test or Prod environments.
Any ideas or suggestions ?

I could able to get back the users subscriptions in the target environment with below procedure.
In my scenariou i am moving the app 200 from Dev to Test environment.
Step1: Export the app 200 from Test environment by selecting Export interactive Report Subscriptions to Yes in Export Preferences tab
Step2: Extract carefully the wwv_flow_api.create_worksheet_notify code +(you will see more than 1 statements, if there are multiple users subscriptions)+ from the app 200.sql .
Step3: Extract wwv_flow.g_flow_id and wwv_flow_api.g_id_offset initializer statements.
Example below:
In my scenariou i was testing with 1 interactive report user subscription

Error in exporting from Interactive Report to PDF format

Hello,
i am using APEX and from an Interactive Report i am trying to export using Download | PDF format. The table and corresponding report has only text fields. Database character set is UTF-8. Up to now i haven't been able to get a PDF file that can be open from Adobe Acrobat Reader. Every file fails opening with message like "Adobe Reader could not open filename.pdf, because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). This happens for every report i have tried up to now. If i export report in CSV format all are ok.
Is there a known bug with PDF download of APEX?

FOP & Cocoon are free (just need to install the software and configure) Bi Publisher I believe works only for Standard Reports and no Interactive reports at this time.. If you have the $$ BI Publisher is worth the investment!!
Also, it is rumored that APEX 4.0 will have the PDF generation built in as apposed to the current model where you need to bolt something on..

How to set the column width in the PDF exports of interactive reports ?

I have a huge problem with the PDF export for the Interactive reports. I'm using APEX 3.2.
I have to produce a PDF report in landscape format that show 21 columns. My problem is that the columns have a ridiculous short width and that the text inside the columns do not wrap in the columns. So I get things like that :
Date Name
2011 Leina
I should see 2011-08-01 and the name Leinad Jan
I tried several things to format the columns, but none of the them has any effect on the PDF itself.
1) I used HTML code in the report query. It works well with the interactive report, but display the HTML tags in the PDF.
2) I used css to set the width of my columns. It works in the interactive report, but not in the PDF, the column width do not change.
It's like the report do not notice that my page format is Legal 14 x 8.5 (Landscape) and still believe it's 8.5 x 11 (which is "portrait")
Do you have any idea so set the columkn widths in the reports ?

To "remember" the column widths, add a mouse listener to the table header. Upon mouseReleased(), get the column widths and save them to your file. When the application starts next time, get the stored widths and set them using:
table.getColumn("XXX").setPreferredWidth(...);
By default, your columns are adjustable, but you can use:
table.getTableHeader().setResizingAllowed(true);

CSV and PDF export in interactive report

Hello all,
how can I make some of my columns which are visible in the report, not visible in the CSV and PDF exports. And how can I customize the width of the PDF export columns. In the normal reports it is possible in the print report settings but here I don't see such option.
