Pdf Form Protection

I have created a form via A9PE for invoicing my customers.
I have sent that form to my tablet and saved it within A11 Reader.
When I open that form and fill in the fields for my customers invoice, I then need to email the filled in form to them.
PROBLEM:
Emailed invoice is in the form of an editable form.
DESIRE:
I need to be able to fill in the form on my tablet and email an uneditable version of the invoice.

Reader XI cannot password protect a PDF.
You might be able to make the form fields read only if you can install a script on your tablet.
You might also digitally sign and lock the fields with Reader. This will allow one to see the PDF has been changed from when it was signed.

  • How could I fill in the fields in a PDF form.

    Hello,
I received a form in PDF format that has fields to be filled in.
I coulld not type in the fields in my computer that has Win 7 or in my Mac Book Air that has Snow Leopard.
The pdf form protection -> Security Properties-> has "filling of Form Filelds" as -> Allowed.
    Regards

Are you sure those are real fields, and not just graphic elements that looks like fields?
At any rate, if they are fields but they are locked, for example, then there's nothing you can do. You need Acrobat to unlock them.

  • Can I protect my PDF form similar to a Microsoft Word protected template?

I have a PDF form that I created in Acrobat XI Pro.
I need to be able to enter data into the form fields and save that data under a new name, so I have enabled reader extensions for this.
When I create a form in Microsoft Word, I have the ability to save the form as a "template" file (with a .dotx filename extension).    This is great because it protects my original form: When the user double-clicks to open the template form file, it only opens a COPY of the form, not the original.
Soo.... is there a way to do something similar to the Word template feature in Acrobat XI Pro??  It's a form, so I don't want to restrict my ability to edit it (add data to the form fields), and I have to be able to save the data under a new file name.
Any help would be great appreciated!!

You can set the file itself as read-only... But the users of it will always
be able to change it back, if they wanted to.

  • Yesterday, as today's deadline for filing tax returns approached, I was paralyzed by the inability to create new IRS PDF forms and to retrieve archived ones from a year ago. My computer went crazy. 24 hours later, I am still paralyzed. Can you help?

My computer went crazy yesterday on two occasions involving PDF documents. One dealt with attachments to an email from a bona fide corporation. The other dealt with IRS PDF forms & schedules needed for today's submission.
As both dealt with PDF and had nothing else in common, I suspected my PC had a virus. When I asked a local store technician, he agreed. I turned to Norton, which protects my PC from viruses, and after a few hours of really thorough searching, the computer was found to have no viruses.
Before describing what I call "crazy" computer behavior, you need to know that I have long had IE8 as my default browser but a few weeks ago switched to Mozilla Firefox because IE8 had beome incompatible with some websites from which I get information.
When I received the email from AT&T email service and clicked the first of four icons representing attachments, there was figuratively an explosion on my monitor: a series of new tabs, each called New Tab, burst onto the monitor--but no text or picture. The new tabs appeared faster than I coul kill them. I finally decided just to shut down the computer, hoping they would not reappear when I restarted. I was wrong. After 2 repeats, I decided to forget about the attachments and asked the sender to send them to me by regular mail.
That was no solution for my IRS PDFs. I wanted to complete filling in the various forms and schedules that I had begun months ago so that I could mail them today to the IRS (without having to copy them all in ink). When I tried to open the first one, BOOM. The same thing happened: the blizzard of New Tabs atop blank pages; my IRS form or schedule did not show up. Did the same shutdown/restart routine with the same results.
When I looked at the list of current forms that had to be completed, I noticed something very strange: the icons that began the listing of the documents' names were replaced one by one by Mozilla icons. When I moused over them, they said Firefox HTML. Why?
Starting the day today, I had the same experience. What's more, when I started to retrieve 2012 IRS PDFs from a year ago, the same New Tab tabs appeared and had to be killed, and Mozilla icons replaced whatever icon was there before.
Assuming that the problem arose with Adobe Reader's reading of the PDFs, I contacted Adobe but got no helpful phone number because PDFs are a free service and was directed to use this Forum to get help.
What do I have to do to (a) read and use PDFs in the normal way and (b) remove the Mozilla icon from those that have appeared on icon documents. If Mozilla is the source of the problem, shall I go back to IE8? (In my 80s, I want eventually to replace my old computer but for the time being I must continue using it. It will not take an IE9. Anther possible default browser would be Google Chrome, but I have unfavorable impressions of it because of its intrusiveness, loading my PC with stuff I do not need.
    Can you help?

The problem is absolutely not Reader. The problem is that FireFox has stepped in front of Reader and handles all the PDF stuff - wrongly in your case. FireFox is DESIGNED to take over PDF files. But it is not capable of doing IRS forms!
To start with go back to IE for these forms. When you save them to disk DO NOT DOUBLE CLICK ON THEM until this is fixed. Just open the in the normal way - start Adobe Reader and use Open from the File menu.

  • How can I get a PDF form to email to me when it is hosted online?

Ok, I'm not a coding expert, but I understand CSS and html alright.
I am trying to create a PDF form for my website: www.pantherapressdesign.com.
I have already created the forms (they are under the purchase section of the site) and when they are saved to the harddrive they work just fine. HOWEVER, when you fill them out and they open in the browser they will not submit to me (aka. I don't get them by email, even though the submit button correctly re-directs you to the thanks page).
In the fuctions of the submit button I have it set to mailto:[email protected]
When the form is saved on the hard drive (I open it from the desktop) and click submit it brings up a dialog box and asks me how I want to send it. I then choose desktop mail service, it opens it in an email and sends it.
I want customers to be able to click the form from the website - fill it out right there in the browser - and then be able to submit it to me that way.
I am assuming I must route this through the php or something, but am not sure how to do that. I have the php working for the contact from on the website, but I don't know php so I used pre-written code to do that. Is there some simple code I can drop into my php that will handle these forms? Help, please! Thanks

I looked at the Stationary form, and there are a number of things you need to change. It is currently set up to submit as "HTML", as opposed to FDF, XFDF, or the entire PDF. This is fine if you're submitting the form to a web server, which can read the field data, place it in an email, and send it off. This is actually much preferred to relying on the user's machine being set up properly to send an email. Many are not and not receiving order that someone thought was submitted will be bad for your business. Consider removing the existing forms today and you can update when they are working.
Your web hosting service likely has a PHP script that is designed to work with HTML forms and send an email with the form data included. This can work with a PDF form if the form is correctly set up. To do that, you will need to know how the script works and what it is expecting in the way of form data when it processes a submission. The PHP script should also be modified to send an appropriate response back to the user, which can be a simple redirect. The way you have it now with a link to the redirect page is wrong. It goes there whether the form is complete or not and whether the email actually got sent. This can be avoided by having the web server take care of this.
If you don't have the expertise to modify the form to suit the PHP script and PHP script to suit the workflow, you'll need to find someone who does.

  • Help with exporting data from pdf form

I have about 100 pdf forms that I created in adobe forms central and distributed as a pdf form (rather than on the web). I am trying to export the data into a spreadsheet but when I export it, the fields are all jumbled in the csv file, as in they are not in the same order. I need to export the data all together so I'm going to the forms menu and selecting "manage form data" and then selecting "merge data files into spreadsheet". I tried exporting a single file but that gave me something really weird.
Please help, I have a deadline next week to analyze this data and can't make sense of it once it is exported to a spreadsheet.

Would you please share your form with me and send me one of your pdf forms and some of the csv files?
You can share your form by doing the following:
    1. Click on the “Share” icon on the bottom left corner.
    2. Click on “Add Collaborator” on the popup menu.
    3. Enter [email protected] under “People to share with”.
    4. Set subject to "Export data from pdf form"
    5. Click the “Share” button on the bottom right of the dialog.
    Thanks

  • Pdf forms possibilities

hi everyone I'm a complete newbie to pdf forms and using acrobat pro so just wanted to test the waters with a few questions if someone could help me out please.
    1. With forms can you create multiple choice questions and when the reader selects an option the form will tell them if it's right or wrong?
    2. Can you create a graph on a form that will be populated by data collected in a form?
    3. Can you protect a pdf document so it can't be emailed or printed?
the answer to these may spark new questions but just to get an idea of what's possible if anyone could answer these or point me in the direction of a resources section perhaps with demo files??
    thanks

    1. this is possible
    3. you protect printing of the form.

  • I need to make a pdf form that is fillable and send from ipad to email not tracked just the complete email. Can someone help me.

I have forms that I have created with submit buttons, that are filled out and sent complete to an email box.  I would like to do the same only have my form filled out on an ipad and then have the submit button send the completed form the same way.
I don't want to gather the data, since i am doing this for another department.  They want to track there own data via the Pdf's they receive.  Is this possible?

    majende,
Adobe Reader for iOS does support a Submit button.
    (a) Button action to submit an entire PDF document via email
    (b) JavaScript submitForm to Adobe FormsCentral
Do you use the desktop version of Adobe Acrobat to create a PDF form?
    For option (a)
Add the "Submit a form" action to your Submit button.
Enter "mailto:" (including a colon) followed by email recipient(s).  Please add a comma between two email addresses.
    Example: [email protected], [email protected]
    Select "PDF The complete document".
This particular type of PDF form will work with Adobe Reader desktop and mobile products (including Adobe Reader for iOS and Android).
In Adobe Reader for iOS, a user can do the following steps to submit the particular type of PDF form.
    Fill out the PDF form.
Tap the Submit button in the PDF form.
Select "Share Original Document" or "Share Flattened Copy" from the Share File dialog.
Adobe Reader for iOS will automatically fill in the email address(es) that you specified when you created the PDF form.
Tap the Send button in the upper right corner.
Adobe Reader for iOS will send the PDF form as an email attachment via Apple Mail (the default mail app for iOS).
Please let us know if you have additional questions.

  • PDF form - Create link to folder or other document

I've created PDF Form with various field along js. now client is asking the option to insert the link of other document reference in the field by using button. similar to browse to give the "link of document location in the server" in the field by using button.
    please help to make this.
    thanks
    kv

I see. That is more complicated to implement... Basically you could do it
    like this:
    - Set the text field's option "Field is used for file selection" under
    Properties - Options.
    - Then add a MouseUp action to the button that executes this JavaScript
    code:
    this.getField("Link").browseForFileToSubmit();
    - When the button is then clicked it will open a file selection dialog and
will populate the selected file path into the text field.

  • How do I get my pdf form to distribute?

I just purchased Acrobat XI Pro, revised a pdf form from previous version X (a trial version of the program) and when I try to Distribute I keep getting the same error message "The filename you specified is not valid because it does not include a .pdf extension, contains one or more invalid characters or the path preceding it refers to a protected system location"
I have unchecked 'hide file extensions' and I have saved the form to the desktop but no success. This is really frustrating. Anyone who can help would be much appreciated...

I created a Pdf form It has a submit button on the bottom. I cannot figure out how to submit it to a specific email address on my website. It will open up the website but does not deliver the form to the email. in fact I actually have no idea where the form goes

Im assuming that the button is created and placed as a plain button

  • How do I edit a pdf form content?

I have filled out a pdf form and want to edit what I've added to the form.  When i use "Content Editing - edit text & images" I'm only allowed to edit the form itself.  What format should the pdf be in to edit the content I've added to the form?

If you've edited the values of form fields then you should be able to edit
them again, just like you did before. Select the Hand tool for that. No
need to any special editing tool...

  • How do I create a Pdf form for others?

I have finally figured out how to make a pdf form, but my client wants to be able to attach the file to his e-mail and send it to his relations.
How do I create a pdf form with his adress in stead of my own e-mailaccount?
Tried to adjust my id in the preferences on my Mac, but that is not a safe way I guess...
Can anybody help me out, I'm stuck...
    Bob

Yes, I want to enable the client's relations to be able to click on a link
in the pdf to automatically submit the pdf to his e-mail address.
Now a purple bar shows up when a 'relation' opens the pdf form.
In this bar is a button included for sending the form, but they have to
confirm the adding of their reaction to the 'reactions-file'. This refers to
the location where I authenticallly saved the file (on my hard disk).
I can adjust the reply e-mail adress by temporarily adjusting my id in
Acrobat preferences, but I don't know the future location of the reaction
    file.
It's a difficult question, but it's based on the question: Is it possible to
make a pdf form for somebody else; so they can send en receive the reactions
on their moment and their wanted location?

  • Can't create a multiple file PDF from PDF forms created in Designer

    Hi
I want to create a single PDF which combines 6 pdf forms created in Adobe Designer (all as separate pages).
When I try to create a single PDF from these multiple files using the "Create a PDF from Multiple files" command, my A-3D won't let me do this returning a dialog box saying
"The file "filename.pdf" is protected. It cannot be used for this command".
I can't find any properties that control this, either in the original file or in A-3D. Can I overcome this and how?
    Many thanks in anticipation.
    Phil

Designer-created files aren't really PDF files any more and cannot be
edited or combined in Acrobat (including Acrobat 3D). You CAN make a
package of them, however, in Combine Files.
