PDF Maker in Excel 2013

I am running Windows 8.1 with Office 2013 and Acrobat XI. Can't get the PDFMaker add in to load automatically in Excel unless I load as Administrator. Can this be fixed?

You have to do the updates to AA XI before the ribbon comes up in OFFICE. OFFICE 2013 came out after AA XI and the updates addressed the fixes.

  • PDF Maker crashing Outlook 2013 in Windows 8.1

    I have:
    Windows 8.1 64-bit
    Outlook 2013 64-bit
    Adobe Acrobat XI Standard, 11.0.06
    This is what I do:
Start Outlook. Outllok crashes: Displays popup window saying "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working". The only option is "Close program" I click which closes the popup window. Outlook did not start at all.
I start Outlook a second time. This time Outlook starts but has a yellow bar at the top that says, "ADD-IN PROBLEM". I click to view Disabled Add-Ins. PDF Maker Office COM Add-in is disabled. I click to enable.
I close Outlook. Then I start Outlook again. Outlook crashes as before. The second time has PDF Maker disabled as before, etc.
Looks like Adobe PDF Maker crashes Outlook 2013.

I'm surprised that nobody from Adobe replied. I guess Adobe does not care if users are having problems using their software.
In any case, I found that if you right-click on Outlook, then run Outlook in administrator mode, Outlook starts up, and PDF Maker does not crash Outlook. So I guess that means that if you want the extra protection of not running Outlook in Administrator mode, then you cannot use Adobe Acrobat.
I like Adobe Acrobat. So, this leaves me in a quandry. I tried other PDF makers and editors. I like Adobe Acrobat the best. I remember Nuance's PDF software was so buggy. As far as I can tell, Adobe Acrobat has only one bug, and that bug is only in the PDF Maker part. Everything else Adobe has been working. But I also don't want to give up the protection by having to run Outlook in Administrator Mode.

  • PDF Button in Excel 2013

    Hi Guys
I have followed a thread under the same subject matter and the outcome was that the PDF Maker button is not available in Excel 2013 unless you are using Acrobat X1 (11). I subscribe to Creative Cloud and have all the latest applications including Adobe Acrobat X1, but I cannot see a PDF button anywhere like it used to be on Office 2010.
Does anyone have more info on this please.
    Thanks.

Acrobat form Creative Cloud, point product subscription, point product perpetual license is still Acrobat. The installed desktop application from any of these are the same.
There is no single "button" associated with PDFMaker in Office 2013 applications.
There file menu ribbon simple has the word "Adobe".
When the "Adobe" tab is clicked the tabs for the various PDFMaker related activities are presented.

    +
Typically one installs the Office applications first. Then Acrobat is installed.
This sequence lets the Acrobat install locate the support Office applications and setup the PDFMaker add-on to the application.
    Be well...

  • Pdf maker in Office 2013

I just got a new computer with Office 2013 and installed Acrobat X Standard in it.  However, the pdf maker does not show up in the Office applications.  Any suggestions on how to get this?

    Hi alejaf,
Acrobat 10 is incompatible with office 2013.
Please check the KB : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/compatible-web-browsers-pdfmaker-applications.html

  • PDF Maker in Excel 2003 prompts to save multiple files for one report

It seems each time i try to PDF multiple tabs I end up having to save more than one copy of the report in order to get all the sheets in PDF form.  I then have to merge all the PDF copies into one file and save it.  Does anyone know why it is generating multiple reports for the tabs in excel and how to get all the tabs to load as one PDF file from the get-go?

Jeffrey and Karen ... I've used Preview for years but recently upgraded to OS Snow Leopard (I am reluctant to change software!). I used to freely drag and drop pages from the sidebar one pdf file open in Preview to the sidebar of another - as you recommend - without problem. Now if I do that, the caption in the bar at the top of the document says "2 documents, 5 (or whatever) open pages", and I can't save the whole thing as one document - Preview wants to save the tranferred pages as their own document. What has changed? What am I not understanding here?

    BizGuru,
    Somethings to consider.
--| In Windows - the OS needs a goodly space for 'elbow room' - you don't want to have HDD free space drop below something like 15%.
Say your HDD is 600GB, 60GB free space is leaving you 10%...
-| RAM - May not be enough; more is better <g>.
--| Virtual Memory - if in Windows, open up Task Manager. Look at all the "stuff" there. Most is not required by the OS.
Most of the listing is "stuff" associated with a full cart of processes associated with things you may not need or use but they suck up resources.
--| Graphics - Processing images into PDF can be resource intensive. Having a dedicated graphics card with enough ram makes a difference.

  • PDF maker change format of Excel 2007 document

    Hi,
I use the scale option in Excel 2007 to format my document on a 8 1/2 X 14 page.  I set the scale 80%.
When I print the document with Adobe printer, the document print to the right size ( 8 1/2 X 14).
When I use PDFMaker, the page size is too large (10 1/2 X 16).
When I set the Excel  scale to 100%, PDFmaker print is 8 1/2 X 14.
I have mulitple sheet in a my document with different scale. So if a print all my workbook, the page format is all different.
Is there a way to correct this ?
    Thanks,
    Jérôme

I don't deal with Excel much, but I would suggest you check the preferences for the PDF Maker in Excel. You may have to select the paper size there for it to work right.

  • Cannot Insert Object in Excel 2013

I am having trouble inserting PDF's in Excel 2013. I go to Insert-->Object-->Create from File then browse to the PDF and select the checkbox for "Display as Icon." After doing this i get a generic error message that says "Cannot Insert Object." No other details.
    Specs:
    Windows 7 x64
    Office 2013 x64
Adobe Reader X and XI. Tried them both.
    What I have tried:
The most common answer I have found was to disable the enhanced security in the Adobe Reader preferences. This does not help.
I also tried downgrading from Adobe Reader XI to Reader x, disabling enhanced security. That does not work either.
I have found a workaround in Excel by going to Insert-->Package and doing it that way, but it does not show the Adobe Reader icon in the spreadsheet when it's done. If there's a way to use this method and still have the adobe icon that'd be great.
I called Microsoft support and they think this is an Adobe issue, because I can insert other things via the create from file method, just not PDF's.
    Other notes:
The Insert-->Object-->Create from File method works fine in Excel 2010 so I think that Adobe Reader doesn't do well with Excel 2013.
I need the inserted PDF's in spreadsheets to look a certain way. They must have the Adobe Icon and I need to be able to change the text below the icon.
    Does anybody have any suggestions?

    Update:
I uninstalled Adobe Reader and tried a different PDF reader and the insert in Excel works fine. I really would prefer to use Adobe though. This leads me to believe that maybe it's just a setting or something in Adobe reader. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • PDF Maker not shown in excel 2013 ribbon

I have got Windows 7 64-bit. I have excel 2013 installed on it. I have recently installed every version of adobe acrobat reader but when i open excel I cant see the PDF Maker add-in in the ribbon.
I have checked it in COM-Add ins list and it is being marked checked. But its not showing up. I have currently installed version 11 of adobe acrobat XI Pro. But issue remains same.
I have searched on google.com a lot but did not find anything.
    Can anyone help?
What should I install to get the PDF Maker in the ribbon? Any fixes?

You have to do the updates to AA XI before the ribbon comes up in OFFICE. OFFICE 2013 came out after AA XI and the updates addressed the fixes.

  • Creation of PDF from Excel 2013 - problem with black color

    Hi,
I am a publisher of crossword magazine and I use Excel to write crosswords. Then I create PDF's and import them into InDesign.
In past I used Adobe printer and it works fine with Excel 2000 and 2010 (only these two versions I used in past) Now I switched to Excel 2013 and when I use Adobe printer to print crosswords into PDF problem occurs with lines done in Excel (insert - shapes - line). I use black color for these lines but in PDF they appears as rich black (TIC 300%). Why it is not 100% black? I know that Excel works in RGB but in past I was always able to change settings in printer profiles (Adobe printer) to reach 100 % black without CMY colors. Now I have no idea. I attached picture of pdf how it looks in Adobe Acrobat in Outpur preview.
Thank you in advance for any advice

These are tough issues I suspect and the answer you need is probably trivial (it is finding it). I will make some suggestions, but I have no idea if any will work.
    -  In the printer under the Properties>Layout>Advanced>print quality, I use 300 dpi (default is 1200).
    - Under the printer preferences>settings>edit the settings file, I use again 300 dpi (default is 1200 dpi).
These may not fix your issue, but migth be worth a try. You could also try using the preflight script to change to gray-scale. It may not make any changes, but again may be worth a try.
All I am trying to suggest are the things I would be looking at. Maybe they will lead you someplace. Others may be by with better suggestions in time.

  • Problems with black color creating PDF from Excel 2013

    Hi
I want to create PDF from Excel 2013 using Adobe Acrobat distiller. When I do so I have problem with black which is 300 percent black instead of 100K. Problem is only with drawed lines from Excel's symbol menu (text is fine).
I use Acrobat 9 Pro and few days ago switched from Office 2000 to 2013.....and problems started.
Office 2000 and Acrobat 9 Pro worked ok and everything including drawed symbols like lines or squares were 100K black in PDF. Now in the case of Excel 2013 it is not so but when I use export function included in Excel and export file to PDF output is 100K. I am not sure if this kind of export is good for me. I use PDF's as inputs to InDesign. So I would like to have more control when create PDF from excel. But in Excel setup I can choose standard and minimum size and that is all.
I imported Adobe PDF Settings from computer where these settings worked with Excel 2010 but they do not do same job for me in combination with Excel 2013 (I have 300 black).
    To explain my workflow:
I am a publisher of crossword magazine and I use Excel to write crosswords. Then I create PDF's and import them into InDesign.
Should I use internal export included in Excel 2013? Are these PDF's ok for working in InDesign and finally for print purposes?
Or If you have any suggestion how to create PDF via Adobe Acrobat distiller setup (which I prefer) please give me advice.
    Thank you in advance
    Juraj

  • PDF maker toolbar inactive in Office 2013

Hello. I have Adobe Acrobat Standard XI installed on Windows 7 Pro with Office 2013 Home & Business. The PDF Maker toolbar is not visible in any Office application. In Excel, Options, Add-ins, the Adobe Acrobat Create PDF Toolbar is listed as an Inactive Application Add-in. How do I make it active?
    Thanks.
    Chris

Did you install the updates? They are required to work with Office 2013 that was released after AA XI.

Ever since I downloaded the Acrobat Pro 11.0.09, the PDF Maker has not worked, but instead causes MS Word 2013 to crash. I cannot find the cause or the solution.

OK I will try to elaborate this time with pictures so it is clear what I am asking and what the issue I am facing is.
The specific option I want to be able to use from within the Adobe Acrobat Pro user interface is
    File\Create\Batch Create Multiple Files
When I select that menu item a floating tool bar thing pops up that I can drag and drop files onto.
If I drag excel or powerpoint documents onto it and press OK it converts them fine.  If I drag MS word documents into it the documents appear in the list but when I click OK it says no files processed.
In the process of troubleshooting I also tried using the Add Files button.  That is when I discovered that MS word documents (*.doc, *.docx) are not showing up in the list of supported file types.
The same thing happens when I try converting a single file using the File\Create\Create PDF From File menu item. Just like above the MS word documents do not show up in the list of supported file types.
Looking in my registry entries as suggested by the article linked to by one of the posters above I can see both *.doc and *.docx types registered in the correct place.
Unless I can use the batch convert command as intended by the time my trial period runs out in 13 days I cannot justify buying this software. If converting the documents one at a time was acceptable I would just use Save As PDF from within MS Word which works just fine. I need the batch convert function so I can convert my whole library of word documents to PDF at once.
    Any further assistance greatly appreciated!
    Regards,
    Gray

  • PDF maker, Acrobat 9.0, Excel 2007 - wrong page sizes

When I use PDF maker, or "Create PDF", with my entire excel workbook, the sheet sizes come out randomly, though they are set as 8.5X11.
I notice there have been many reported problems.  Are there any current solutions?
    Thanks.

Thanks for that, I have checked thwe Word Document and the 'lines' are actually Cells so it would appear that the creator has copied
in these from a spreadsheet, into a Word document and then created the PDF.
The resolution is set to 300DPI in the PDF and the lines appear when unticking the Line Weights, however, this change isn't saved, if you can advise me on how to save the document with the line weights option unticked then that would be brilliant!
Thanks for your time helping me with this!
