PDF Printing Issue with APEX4.0

Hi,
Im using APEX4.0, Database 10gXE and BI Publisher as my report server. As a example I downloaded the master-detail pdf example but each time I try to print I get the error;
ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified.
I have set my APEX instance settings to point to BI Publisher. I have also tested BI Publisher using a metalink note to prove that the issue is not with BI Publisher but with APEX trying to communicate with BI Publisher.
Its almost as if everything is pointing to the network services not being enabled but I thought this was only the case in database11g and not 10gXE.
Any pointers or suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Graeme

Hi,
Ignore this now. I uninstalled BI Publisher and re-installed it. I think the issue was a space in the original folder that BI Publisher was installed in.

  • Pdf print issue with pdfp.exe

I have updated my Adobe to Adobe Reader 11 and in my application has used pdfp.exe for printing pdf files. But after updation I haven't print pdf files. It can be possible to print while Adobe reader 10 and below version .Please help

    Hi,
Finally the problem comes from HP Printer Status notification Pop-Ups (SNP) in the Universal Printer Driver. Enable or disable COM isolation mode doesn't make a difference. As said previously, the splwow64.exe process opens when the Appv application is
lauch. When the Appv application (32 bits) prints to the UPD queue, the splwow64 process doesn't seems to look at the HP UPD registry keys under the current user profile. Instead, the Appv apps create new registry keys in the user profile "bubble".
There is one particular key that broke the printing:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hewlett-Packard\HP SSNP\SSNPHwndId
This key is recreate under user "bubble". If this key is deleted in the "bubble", the printing works. But every print jobs recreate that key, so we need to delete again. Strange, but the SSNPHwndId value is the ID of HP Printer Status notification
Pop-Ups (SNP) instance and is NEVER the good one in the "bubble". Everytime the key is recreate, the ID change.
The workaround for now is to disable HP SNP in the printer queue. We get the default print notification window, that is fine. But we are curious if we can do something or is just a bug in appv.
We did all tests with a plain Windows 7 x64 SP1 up to date, latest HP UPD driver. Just in case, we leave this computer outside the domain to be sure no GPO is applied.
    Thanks

  • V10.1.5 upgrade - Adobe PDF printer issues - font embedding

    Hi,
Accepted the 10.1.5 (Acrobat Standard) upgrade.  Have started having "Adobe PDF" printer failures with MS Outlook 2010: Font embedding issues.
Is there a setting somewhere I need to tweak to tell it to substitute with another font when it runs into licensing issues?
I've re-installed CutePDF as a workaround, but would prefer to use the Adobe printer.
    save-as-filename.log:
    "%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: LucidaSans cannot be embedded because of licensing restrictions. ]%%
%%[ Font vendor (B&H) does not permit this font to be embedded in PDF. ]%%
%%[ Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand: xshow ]%%
    Stack:

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%"
    Regards,
    JD

In the settings file you should be able to set to continue even if the embed fails. In that case, I think you will simply have the PDF without the one font being embedded. You can also set to never embed it in the settings file (if you can find it on your system).

  • Auto adjustment of page orientation causes printing issues with documents that have a page width greater than its page height.

    Hi,
Since an upgrade from Word 2003 to Word 2010, we are experiencing printing issues with certain
documents that have a page width greater than its page height.
In Word 2003, it was no problem to set the page width greater than the page height while setting the page orientation to "portrait".
In Word 2010, this seems impossible: despite leaving the page orientation to "portrait", if one changes the page width/height as stated,
Word 2010 automatically adjusts the orientation to "landscape". Resetting the orientation to "portrait" will flip the page's width/heigth settings.
This behaviour causes printing problems: the page prints out 90° rotated.
I do not believe this is a printer driver issue: I tried several different printer drivers, and all give the same (bad) result. Setting the printer driver's page orientation settings (before printing) makes no difference, as
Word 2010 seems to force the page orientation settings.
Inserting the documents 90° rotated is not an option, since it causes problems with the printing margins.
This is very annoying, since we have to print official documents of a municipality (driver's licences).
Is there a workaround for this issue?

  • Strange Printing Issue With New HP & Pages

    Hello!
I have a very strange printing issue with a new HP printer. I have written pages documents heavy in Texts which are located within tables. The documents print fine on a Cannon and Epson printer and look great but when I print the document on my new HP Laserjet Pro 400 Colour M451nw some of the text on some rows come out of the printer looking like they are bold / slightly fuzzy. This only happens with some of the rows of text, not all of them. The font is the same in every row with the same format.
You can see this in the attached image. The first line (Thanks very much) has printed correctly but the subsequent lines look bold / slightly fuzzy.
After a lot of testing the only way I can resolve this is if I copy the content into a new pages document and only then it will print and look ok with the HP printer.
This must be a problem within my origional document. I would simply copy and paste everything into a new document however this would take a very, very long time (over 5 years of work producing teaching materials and over 100 documents and thousands of tables and formatting that cannot be copied and pasted).
Also, on other printers you can see the lines seperating each row of the table. These lines are not visible on the HP print outs, even when the table is copied into a new document.
Has anyone come accross an issue like this before? Is there a way I can fix this without creating a new document? Do I need to get a new another new printer (the 4th printer this week!)?
Any advise, wise words would be greatly apprechiated!
    Thanks!

Sorry, Fruhulda. After 4 hours on the phone with Apple care they are taking this issue further themselves. It seems to be a problem with our pages document and the compatibility with certain drivers. We have still not gotton to the bottom of it and Apple are going to get back to me when they have an answer.
We also worked out that the issue only happens when you print via Ethrenet & USB. Printing via Wifi is ok and there are no quality issues.
    Very Strange!

  • [Applet]Printing issue with pdf files on Xerox 4595

    Greetings !!
I'm trying to print to a Xerox 4595 printer from a Windows XP station (limited account) using a Java Web Applet.
This applet generates pdf files which have to be printed.
The Xerox 4595 uses a printing queue that is detected by the Applet.
The problem is the following: usually when printing a simple local file from this computer there is a box that asks you your login to let you create a job and then print.
When using the Java Applet, there is no way to have this print box displayed. We have the Java Print Dialog but once clicked on "Print" there is no box displayed to pass the login to the printer and let us print.
Is anyone already worked with Xerox 4595 and experienced such issue ?
How can I, using the Java language and modify the Applet, ask the printer to send me the dialog box asking for the login ? Without this login no jobs are accepted and we can't print the generated pdf files.
I looked on the printer queue settings and it seems that the Xerox uses the IPP to communicate with the local computers in the office.
The server from which the Applet is used is a openSuSE Linux Web server (apache2)
How come using Linux workstations any pdf files are printed (on shared printers such HP laserjet) and under windows there is jammed characters and sheet feed instead ?

A lot can depend upon which app your are using on your tablet device, the same applies to computer programs but apps are much worse.
    Which app are you using?
I would try the free Adobe Mobile Reader. This product seems to support more features than other apps.
There could even be issues with the type of tablet you are using. The Apple line may work better then Android devices since there is QA check and approval by Apple.
Another factor is the how the PDF was created.
How well are the maps displayed on your laptop or desktop? Try different values of zoom.

  • Printing issue with pdftops for XML publisher reports.

    Hi All,
We have recently upgraded from 11.5.10 to R12.1.3.
We are facing a strange issue for some of the seeded reports that were converted to type XML after R12 upgrade.
First, the reports were printed with junk / xml character while submitting the requests from application (e.g. Account Analysis Report)
    We made the following changes.
    - Added PDF Publisher style with required flag set to yes to the  Account Analysis Report.
    - Set proifle option "FND: Default Template Output Type"  to PDF   (it was blank)
    - The pasta_pdf.cfg is configured to use pdftops for conversion
    - Restarted the manager.
After this, the above report is priting fine and pdftops is converting it to correct format before printing.
But one of the printer that Oracle EBS is configured is getting stuck specifically for this postscript based request.  The same report prints well on another printer.
The 'lpstat -t' shows the following status for the failing printer.

Any idea what could be the cause and how can fix it?
Any pointers will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sunil Bhavsar

    Thanks Hussein.
I will check the 2 options you recommended. At the same, I would like to test the direct print from the OS using pdftops utility.  But not sure how can I do that?
The concurrent request creates the .tmp file under APPLTMP and pass that as the parameter while printing such requests. But if we need to test the .PDF output using pdftops directly, what should be the syntax? Or I would say, what should be the input file and output file?
    e.g.
    pdftops {infile} {outfile}
I have got the .PDF output under $APPLCSF/$APPLOUT. But from one of the failed request logs, I see the system passes both as .tmp. If we need to test this directly, is there any way?
In the meantime, I will check the debug logs option and update if it provides any additional information.
    Regards,
    Sunil

  • HP Officejet 4500 Wireless Printing Issues with Online Maps & Financial Institutions

I have an HP Officejet 4500 Wireless printer that I have wireless connection to my HP G72 Laptop running Windows 7 (64 bit) with Internet Explorer 9.  I am having trouble printing online maps from either Bing Maps or Google Maps.  It seems the print jobs get stuck in the print que and always show an indefinite status of “Printing” in the que but never get printed.
I’ve tested my other applications including Office 2010 and all other jobs seem to print just fine.  I do use the “Print” button located in each of the online Map sites (Bing, Google).  This is when the jobs get stuck.
I do also have the HP Bing Bar installed with Smart Print.  The Smart Print feature seems to work with the online maps just fine (seems I’ll just use it instead).
Another separate printing issue is that I can never get any of my online financial transactions to print from any of my online financial institutions with either the Internet 9 print features or the HP Bing Smart Print feature.  I can never get those to print (have to wait for the PDF statements to be available).
Any ideas as to why I can print the maps or online financial transaction?  I get no error messages either.

  • PDF printing problems with Canon Color C3220

I'm having an issue with our Canon Color Imagerunner C3220.
When I send a PDF from Acrobat Professional 7.0 from a Mac to the
Canon I get a rule that overprints an image. The image should be
knocking out the rule. When I print from a Windows machine it
prints fine. The PDF also looks fine on screen. Our printer was
just upgraded to a C2 rip which I believe may be the culprit but am
not sure. Canon did some troubleshooting and says the problem lies
with the way the Mac interprets the PDF output going to the Canon.
These PDFs were made from InDesign CS2 and Distiller 7.0. Other
then sending from a Windows machine, does anyone have an idea for a

I am seeing the same magenta cast (primarily in areas of yellow tones) when printing to an ip4000 on Photo Paper Glossy II using any of the Canon profiles (I've tried them all, one by one).

  • Printing issue with Electronic Signatures

In the footer of my document, i place document properties and also use the captioning feature for tables and figures. I have saved it in native 2010 format not in a compatability mode.
When I print my document (paper or PDF) these fields print properly.
After I electronically sign the document and look at the document on the screen, the fields and caption numbers (Table 1-1: Intended Audience) appear correctly. When I print to PDF or paper, the numbers disappear (Table 1-: Intended Audience) and they
    also disappear from the screen.
When I close the document and reopen it, the fields are correct. It only changes after the document prints.
Using Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Version 14.0.6023.1000 (32-bit).
    (--merging--)
The original document was a 2007 document opened/stored in the 2010 format.
Reproduced with new 2010 document simply by creating two properties:
    Template Version - Test - Value 1.0
    Template Date - Date - Value 1/25/2012
    And doing the following:
Using the default Normal template with calibri as the font
Added a heading level 1 to the document
Added a 2x2 table with Insert Caption including the chapter number based on heading 1 below the table
Added the template version and template date as two lines on the page
    Inserted a signature line
Created a footer with the template version, page number aligned center (via tab), template date alighted right (via tab)
Printed without signing and all data was present (Table 0-1: Test)
Signed the document and printed. The following was missing:
The template date in the footer.
The table label was Table 0-: Test
The template date was present in the middle of the document

    Hi,
Is this problem only affect Word program with Electronic Signatures?
Please try to test Printing with different printer drivers.
If the Word printing problem occurs only when you print documents with a certain font or a certain type of graphics image, try to print to another printer.
If no other printer is available, contact the manufacturer to find out whether there is an updated version of the driver or a different driver that works with your printer model.

  • PDF Printing Issue - Customised Report Layout Error

    Hi,
I am trying to get a PDF file output based on the customised RTF file created. I follow the following steps but I am facing an issue with that.
    (i) Go to Shared Components > Report Queries.
(ii) Create a new Report query with more than one query.
(iii) Using the XML Data in the Report queries, create a Report Layout (RTF) file.
(iv) Navigate to shared components Report Layout and upload the RTF file.
    (v) Once this is done, use the Report Layout created in the Report Queries. Select the Layout name from the Drop Down.
(vi) Click on TEST REPORT, this produces an error: Adobe Reader could not open the <file name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded )
    Additional Info
The apex instance configured with Embbedded plsql, rdbms version is 11.1.0.7.0 and the BI publisher version 10.1.3.3.
    ISSUE DESC
When I use mulitple Queries even after using Generic Report Layout I get the output for the first query alone in the PDF and the remaining Queries are ignored.
And when i use a user defined template, then even If i have a single report query I get the error.
To summarise, I am not able to use the customised Layouts.
I have reproduced the issue in apex.oracle.com
    Please log in using,
    WORKSPACE: demo_test
    USER NAME: [email protected]
    pwd: vidhya
After logging in please select the Application Builder.
In that select the Application named PDF.
Select the Shared components > Report Queries
Select the Report Query named test.
Click on the TEST REPORT button in the Source Queries Section.
    You will get the error.
Now in the same page in the Report Query Attributes Section change the Report Layout to Use Generic Report Layout and then click on 'TEST REPORT', this will give the PDF file without errors.
The same report has been called from the PRINT REPORT button provided in the page 1 of the application.
This issue is really urgent and critical. Require your inputs/help.
    Thanks,
    Ramya

I' an APEX newbie and believe I am having the same or a similar problem. I am (for now) developing a system using the hosted Apex development system online. I have created a Report Query which works fine with the default layout. I downloaded the XML (tried both sample data and schema) into Word 2007 with the BI Publisher Template Builder. I used the table wizard to create a simple layout containing all columns with no customization at all. Saved as an RTF, uploaded to Apex as a Report Layout, associated it with the Report Query, clicked Test Report -- and I got nothing.
When the is a PDF, I get the same error you mention ( Adobe Reader could not open the <file name> because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded ). If I switch to an HTML file the out is just a blank screen.
If I switch back to generic report layout, it works fine. This suggests there is something wrong with the template, though it looks fine in Word with the sample data.
I've searched the forums and Google for the better part of a day. What am I missing?

  • PDF Printing issue (passing static items)

    Hello experts,
I am starting out with PDF printing from Apex and have a small (I hope) issue. I have downloaded a demo from Oracle site and all works OK.
To test the ability to create my own RTF templates I have added an additional item on the page called P3_PAWEL
Then I have added a field in the RTF template (by copying the existing field from elsewhere in the template and changing its property name)
As a last step I have added the item in the Report Quearies page by clicking on Session State > and adding the P3_PAWEL item to the list.
When I now print the report all still works OK but I do not see anything on the report where (in the template) I put my P3_PAWEL text field.
Any ideas what else I am missing here?
    Regards,
    Pawel.

What you are after is the Oracle XML Publisher Desktop.
    Goto :

  • Acrobat Pro 9 pdf Printer issue

Hello!  Hope everyone is having a great day!
I have a small issue with the 9.0 printer.  It is part of my print cue, can print to it, the print dialogue says that the job is completed, but the file never shows up.
I am running a MacBook with OSX 10.5.8 and have Acrobat 9 Pro version 9.1.3.
Any ideas would be helpful.  My apologies if I did not provide enough information to do so!  Cheers.

If you have X.5.8.  look here:
I've blacked out my computer identity. This is based on on my OSX.4.11 Setup.
In reading up on Snow Leopard I 've read in MacWorld and what was Mac Addict that lots of things have been changed moved around or renamed in Snow Leopard. So Your milage may vary.
As for Getting back the PDF Printer in Snow Leopard. Because of the new Security system in Snow Leopard, as  the saying goes it ain't going to happen.

  • Apex+Cocoon PDF Printing issue  on printing Large Reports

    Hello All,
I m in a real hard situation with PDF printing in apex.. The application manages to push the report into PDF with lesser record reports but for Large reports, it says File corrupted when i open the downloaded PDF file..
I use Apex+Coocoon and fop printing. I found from some forums as this issue was with Java Heap size being lesser and asked me to increase the size.. so i increased the size from 128MB to 1024MB and my server settings allows me to set 1550MB at the maximum..
If i cross this limit the TOMCAT server stops from running...
But all of the above was not much fruitful, since it throws again the same errors if report rows crosses 6000+ rows, can any one help me out, do i need to check any other settings to make my large reports printable in PDF.
My application needs to print around *20000+ rows each report may have at least 20 columns* to get printed...
    Much awaited for your assistance

    Matt,
On this note, it probably also makes sense to mention that with APEX 3.1 we introduce a PL/SQL API that gives you much broader control over what is generated how and the method it's made available to the client. You'll get the ability to retrieve the PDF in a BLOB directly on the server, store in your own tables for later download or send via email attachment. You'll also get the ability to write your own download process using after-submit page processes. And you can have combinations of your own XML with your own stylesheets, or combine report queries with customer stylesheets at runtime, or just simply retrieve the results of pre-defined report queries / report layouts in BLOBs.
I'll talk about this much more on my Blog once 3.1 is out, and will provide whitepapers, how-to's etc
    Regards,
    Marc
