PDF to FlashPaper 2

hi all,
I'm trying to build an application over Coldfusion that
implements a conversion from a pdf into a Flashpaper document. The
only way I had found to do that is using FlashpaperConnect.dll that
comes with Contribute 3. My problem is that I need to run
ColdFusion over Linux and Contribut does not have a Linux version.
Question:
Is there any library for linux with the same function of
FlashpaperConnect.dll?
Anybody know another way to implement this kind of conversion
that could work in linux?
Thanks,
FerSantaFe

After more research, it looks like in my FlashPaper (made
from PDF files) the characters are shifted by a consistent amount.
Using the Unicode character set (you can see a reference in
Windows XP by going to the Start Menu, then
Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Character Map), in
which each character is represented by a number, each character is
shifted by this function:
f(x) = 288 - x
I made a custom search box which translates each character
the user's looking for behind the scenes and uses the FlashPaper
API to search for the new, shifted text:
http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/flashpaper/2/flashpaper_api/flashpaper_api2. html
An amusing detail is that in trying to support
case-insensitive searches, where if they type "cat" and it also
finds "Cat", the following letters are treated as equivalent in
searching:
[=;
Z=:
Y=9
X=8
W=7
V=6
U=5
T=4
S=3
R=2
Q=1
P=0
N=.

  • PDF to FlashPaper Issues

    I have a couple of unresolved issues regarding the conversion
    of PDF to FlashPaper:
    1. Search function does not work ! FlashPaper is not able to
    search/find anything in the documents. I have tried many different
    ways of conversion (even printing the Original Indesign file
    directly to FlashPaper printer). Does not work...
    2. External links do not work as well they are no
    clickable...
    3. I have noticed that Adobe does not provide any feedback to
    this discussion group...they are selling FlashPaper, however it
    seems like the product is in it's early development stage ...
    what's up with that?! So many unanswered complaints from people are
    posted here...

    I've had the same issue, under Windows 2000, Word 2000, and
    FlashPaper2.
    Printing out via the
    print driver causes links to be duds. Previews the resulting
    SWF in the FlashPaper application without saving it.
    Converting to .SWF via Word's new "FlashPaper" menu lets them
    work. Previews the resulting SWF in my browser, after saving it.
    Hope this helps someone. Especially the devs.

  • PDF to FlashPaper Text is now Poor Quality

    I recently had to uninstall and reinstall FlashPaper 2. When
    I go try print any PDF to FlashPaper, the text resolution is now
    horrible. Any ideas? I'm using Adobe Reader 8 at the moment.
    Thanks

    Okay, figured out my problem. I was creating the PDF from an
    original Word document using FlashPaper's PDF creation tool. Bad
    move. Once I created the PDF using Acro Pro, everything was back to
    normal...

  • FDF(PDF) to Flashpaper

    I have an FDF/PDF with form fields. How can I convert to a

    NAT_NAME is the form field name. The swf displays nicely on
    the page.

  • PDF to FlashPaper - disappearing commas

    I am trying to convert PDFs using the FlashPaper printer
    utility on a Mac. The files are printing successfully, and the
    overall text quality is okay, but all of the commas are
    disappearing. Does anyone know how to prevent this? I've tried
    converting PDFs of various sizes, some with their file sizes
    reduced for the Web and others not, but the result is always the
    same. Thanks!

  • PDF vs Flashpaper

    I successfully created a report with the CF report builder.
    The format that I originally used in the <cfreport> tag was
    pdf, but I opted to switch to flashpaper after experiencing how
    long it takes to launch Acrobat. Nor do I like to see the window
    cluttered with all of the Actobat controls. Flashpaper is simpler
    and cleaner for this particular report application.
    The problem I am experiencing is that the report will show up
    in MS IE7 only if I use the pdf format. Mozilla and Opera browsers
    have no problem with the flashpaper format. Anyone have an answer
    to why IE does not handle it? Thanks!

    While Hot Fix 2 was supposed to fix the active controls of IE
    in 7.0.2, there are still instances where IE does not display flash
    correctly.
    Also, how are you pulling data into your report? Via a submit
    form? I do use CFREPORT when doing inventory reports, which we
    generate by filling out a form with all the info we want included
    on the report. Initially we used method=post which seemed to work
    for FireFox, but would not work for IE. So we switched and made
    method=get in the form. This worked for IE and we have used it ever
    since.
    So, how are you generating your reports? Simple database
    query? form submission? Also, have you installed the hot fix for
    7.0.2?

  • MS word - flashpaper causes crash

    I used to be able to print fine to flashpaper, creating
    pdf's. but suddenly when i use flashpaper it causes the ms word
    program to crash. any help?

    Noticed the same problem today when I tried to convert a word
    2007 doc into pdf using Flashpaper - caused Word 2007 to 'not
    respond' and crash. Would wait it out, even waited an hour and
    still nothing. It has worked fine in Word 2007 before, but that was
    on my old computer running WinXP, this new notebook I am on that
    this happened was running Vista.
    For now I would just use PDF995. It is free and does the same
    thing until this gets fixed - which I hope a patch does.

    Or you could convert the pdf to FlashPaper, then insert as
    you would an
    image. You choose the size.

  • Pdf in swf

    Hi,
    I want to import PDF-Data to a FLA movie but the import from
    Flash isn't
    very accurate. With swftools I can convert a Pdf perfectly to
    an swf but
    when importing the swf into Flash the import doesn't work
    very well again.
    I want to have editable text in my FLA and accurate graphics.
    Is it
    possible?
    TIA

    Not with a product from Adobe (at least not yet). The only
    way that I have seen people do this is with FlashPaper (convert the
    PDF to FlashPaper) then use the FlashPaper API and the TextSnapShot
    function to capture the text. However, I'm not sure that it will
    give you quite the editability you are looking for.

  • Does FlashPaper really work?

    I installed the trial version of FlashPaper. Tried printing
    80 pages from PageMaker 7.0. After 1/2 hour of working I just gave
    up. Then I tried a simple 2 page file from PM 7.0. Same results
    after 15 minutes. Then I drag-n-dropped a 2 page PDF into
    FlashPaper. 15 minutes later I gave up again. I seen one topic
    where the suggested having it on the correct port. Mine is on the
    FlashPaper2Port. How do I get this thing to work? What timeframe
    should I expect?

    JDBC Development Team,
    This is what my colleague found. Is this true? Please send me an email whether this is true or not.
    Thanks!

    There is one cursor created for each addBatch() call. If a prepared statement is used to insert two rows into a table, two cursors are created. Insert 20 rows, 20 cursors are created. That's bizarre, because if a cached prepared statement is used again, the statement's substitution variables probably won't match the values held by the cached cursors. Which means more cursors are created ....
    The sql text from the open cursors looks like:
    SELECT FcstVariablePos, Value FROM fe_pdm_theta_default WHER
    SELECT FcstVariablePos, Value FROM fe_pdm_theta_default WHER
    UPDATE fe_exm_transformation SET Value=:1 WHERE InstanceKey=
    UPDATE fe_exm_transformation SET Value=:1 WHERE InstanceKey=
    UPDATE fe_exm_hier_lvl_params SET Delta=5.0 WHERE InstanceKe
    UPDATE fe_exm_hier_lvl_params SET Delta=0.0 WHERE InstanceKe
    No wonder we reach the max_cursors limit so quickly.
    I wonder, if I do 100 addBatch() calls, do I get 100 cursors? With cached prepared statements, I think the answer is yes. So I guess you can't use addBatch() with cached prepared statements.

  • Export to Excel or PDF Custom tag...

    After scouring the web I've put together a custom tag that
    will allow HTML data to be streamed to an Excel file or a PDF.
    First I created the custom tag called "contentWrapper":
    <cfsilent>
    <cfparam name="url.exportType" default=""><!--- I am
    the output type for this page; pdf, flashpaper, excel or html
    --->
    <!--- check to see what whether the "ExportFormat" string
    exists in the URL --->
    <cfswitch expression="#url.exportType#">
    <!--- Begin logic "ExportFormat" string = pdf or
    flashpagerexists in the URL --->
    <cfcase value="pdf,flashpaper">
    <cfif thisTag.executionMode eq "end">
    <cfdocument format="#url.exportType#">
    <cfoutput>
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Export to PDF or Flashpaper</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    #thisTag.generatedContent#
    </body>
    </html>
    <cfdocumentitem type="header"><span
    style="font-face: Verdana; font-size: 0.7em">Footer
    Content</span></cfdocumentitem>
    <cfdocumentitem type="footer"><span
    style="font-face: Verdana; font-size:
    0.7em">#dateFormat(now(),"short")#
    #timeFormat(now(),"short")#</span></cfdocumentitem>
    </cfoutput>
    </cfdocument>
    </cfif>
    </cfcase>
    <!--- End logic "ExportFormat" string = pdf or
    flashpagerexists in the URL --->
    <!--- Begin logic "ExportFormat" string = excel in the
    URL --->
    <cfcase value="excel">
    <cfif thisTag.executionMode eq "end">
    <cfheader name="Content-Disposition"
    value="filename=export.xls">
    <cfcontent type="application/msexcel"
    variable="#ToBinary( ToBase64( thisTag.GeneratedContent.Trim() )
    )#">
    </cfif>
    </cfcase>
    <!--- End logic "ExportFormat" string = excel in the URL
    --->
    </cfswitch>
    </cfsilent>
    Next I place my custom tag around a HTML table:
    <!--- Begin Content Wrapper Custom --->
    <tags:contentWrapper>
    <!-- Begin content table -->
    <table width="90%" border="0" cellpadding="2"
    cellspacing="1" bgcolor="#000000">
    <tr>
    <td align="center"
    bgcolor="#CCCCCC"><strong>Custom
    tag</strong></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF">Export to Excel or
    PDF</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF">Example</td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td bgcolor="#FFFFFF"> </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    <!-- End content table -->
    </tags:contentWrapper>
    <!--- End Content Wrapper Custom --->
    Finally I used two form buttons inconjunction with the
    onClick event to open my PDF or Excel file:
    <cfoutput>
    <table cellpadding="" cellspacing="">
    <tr>
    <td>
    <!-- Begin buttons used to pass the exportType -->
    <input type="button" onClick="window.open('
    http://#HTTP_HOST#/#SCRIPT_NAME#?#QUERY_STRING#&exporttype=pdf');"
    value="Export To PDF">
    <input type="button" onClick="window.open('
    http://#HTTP_HOST#/#SCRIPT_NAME#?#QUERY_STRING#&exporttype=excel');"
    value="Export To Excel">
    <!-- End buttons used to pass the exportType -->
    </td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </cfoutput>
    Voila.

    Did u tried the first method? i.e directly exporting the analysis to excel?
    Thanks.

  • FlashPaper printing images problem

    Hi
    I have converted a PDF to FlashPaper. When I view the file on
    the screen, it seems to be a perfect replication of the original
    PDF. The problem occurs when I print the flashPaper. The images on
    the page are not the same as on the screen. It seems as though
    there is a masking problem when printing. I.e. It looks as though
    the original images where layered with masks and this is causing
    the problem. I don't have access to the original images or the
    original source document to edit it.
    Has anybody else experienced the same problems?
    If so, how can I tackle it?
    Thank you in advance.

    quote:
    we're trying to post flashpaper documents on our website for
    students and teachers to download or print. It seems that every
    different configuration of computer and printer gets a different
    result in how the document prints.
    Sorry, but why don't you try to direct the users to use the
    flash paper's print button ? That's why it is there. I use flash
    paper and i direct people to use it. Showing an image on the site:
    A very big red circle around the print button and a big - bold
    arrow pointing it ... lol

  • Contribute & PDF Documents

    I am unable to successfully convert a "PDF" document to
    Flashpaper in order to insert it into my web page.
    (No problem with Microsoft Office Documents)
    Suggestions
    [email protected]

    From the way we've used the plugins, we typically have been
    converting Word (or other types of MS Office docs) to either PDF or
    FlashPaper. But we have not typically tried to convert a PDF to
    FlashPaper...I'm thinking it's not possible because the plugin
    probably doesn't work that way in Acrobat. You can convert to FP or
    PDF easily from MS Word, then just link to the converted doc from
    your web page.
    Hope this helps!

  • FlashPaper Links Question

    I am creating a Newsletter for my company in InDesign CS2. I
    export it as a pdf and then attach hyperlinks in Acrobat. When I
    convert the edited pdf to FlashPaper the hyperlinks don't work. Is
    it possible to have this type of link in a FlashPaper document? If
    so could someone point me in the right direction.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    I'm looking to do the exact same thing, but have run into the
    same issue. I'm creating a document in another application. Then
    bring it into Acrobat, create text links and resave as a PDF. Links
    work great in the PDF. I convert it to Flash Paper and none of the
    links I've created work any longer. In addition, the text search
    feature doesn't work either. Am I doing something wrong, is there a
    work around for this bug? It seems to me that Adobe is advertising
    this thing will convert your documents to Flash and still be able
    to have links and search the document. None of which works...
    I've tried PC and Mac in several browsers. FireFox, IE7 and
    Safari with Flash Player 9. Any help would be great! Thanks!
