PDFGenerator doesn't perform OCR

Hello everybody,
I'm facing an error when i try converting an image file with ocr configured into de File Type Settings. After some minutes pdfgeneretor throws a time out exception but before that it showed me a WARN:

Hi dawittwe,
The test was from admin ui and when i disable ocr property, PDFG converts the image. I also tested it from Adobe Acrobat X and it worked well.

Why can't I interact with Acrobat Pro XI while it is performing OCR on a set of large files?

I am running Acrobat Pro XI on a beefy MacBook Pro with lots of RAM and CPU to spare. I need to perform OCR on hundreds of pages of text spread across dozens of files. That understandably is time consuming and is not perfectly parallelizable.
However, why am I prevented from doing *anything* with Acrobat while the OCR process runs?
Two suggestions:
1. Allow the user to perform OCR on discrete files in parallel. (I realize this will consume additional CPU and memory.)
2. More urgently, allow the user to access non-OCR features of the application while OCR is in progress.

Maybe it should be 64-bit and have multi-threading capabilities . Understand the problems associated with that though and I won't hold my breath.

Do you have any update on this issue? I have enabled mdmclient debug messages and there is always "Server provided no commands to process" message even when the server has sent the commands.

Cannot perform OCR (character recognition) on a pdf

While attempting to perform OCR I get the following message:
"Unable to process the page because the Paper Capture recognition service unexpectedly terminated".
I've tried JPEG files on RGB, Grayscale, 600 dpi, 400 dpi, 300 dpi, but it keeps on not performing OCR. How do I make OCR work? Thanks.

Use TIFF files to get OCR to work.

I have acrobat X Pro. When I try OCR on a scanned image, I get the following error message "Acrobat could not perform recognition (OCR) because: Unable to process the page because the Paper Capture recognition service experienced an error. (6)" The document was orignally a autocad document. I scanned in at high resolution 600 dpi and there is very clear text on the image. Please help

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Notebook and getting a blank or black screen on startup. Try performing a hard reset. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices. If that does not help try to turn on the computer you start to press F11 repeatedly till the menu opens. You can do a system restore.

ITunes doesn't perform automatic backup

hi, i have Yosemite last version. I noticed that plugging ny iPhones to imac doesn't even performance automatic backup in imac. Why?

I was unaware that iTunes has ever performed an "automatic" backup. I thought this was done manually.

How to force acrobat to perform ocr?

Is there any way I can force acrobat to perform an OCR on pages which it says have "renderable text"? The problem is that, when I copy and paste from the document, I just get a bunch of gobbledegook out. That there is no real solution to this, after many years is an indication that either:
Adobe does not care, or
Adobe does not get it.
I was about to suggest my employer upgrade to a newer version of Acrobat, but see no indication that Adobe has really fixed the problem.
PDFs can contain multiple layers. When there is bitmapped text, from a scan, and "renderable text" such as a footer containing a document identification number (there are many, many, millions of such pages used in the legal world every day) then for reasons only the programmers at Adobe can explain, Acrobat is incapable of running OCR on the bitmap and leaving the rendered text in its own layer.
This is not a difficult problem. Since Acrobat can deal with layers making up each page, it should be somewhat trivial to have the OCR function find the bitmapped layer and operate on that layer.
Instead Acrobat gives the LAME error message.
The "fix" of saving to TIFF and back is a pain-in-the-arse work-around. It even froze Acrobat when I tried to save to TIFF.
The "fix" of ignoring renderable text in the margin area and running OCR on the interior bitmap is also not acceptable.
Adobe, you once were a reputable company. You gave the world Postscript. You gave the world PDFs. Why can't you get the OCR function to work properly in Acrobat?

Performing OCR text recognition in all pages of a PDF document which has blank pages

The PDF pages in the file are scanned as an image, but there are blank pages also. So, page 1, 2 have images of scanned text, page 3 is blank, pages 4, 5, have images of scanned text, page 6 is blank and so on.The series of blank pages is 3, 6, 9....
I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro version 9 on Windows XP. I choose the Document option in menu, OCR Text recognition->Recognize text using OCR->All pages. But, the OCR stops after page 2.
Then, I go to page 4 and find that it is still an image(and I cannot copy the text from it). So, then I have to choose the Document option in menu, OCR Text recognition->Recognize text using OCR->All pages. But, the OCR stops after page 6.
The document has some 200 pages and I don't want to manually do the choose the Document option in menu, OCR Text recognition->Recognize text using OCR->All pages for all pages which have text.
I also tried choose the Document option in menu, OCR Text recognition->Recognize text using OCR->Page 1 to page 200, but that too does not work.
I can manually go to each blank page, delete it, then do the OCR but that would be tedious.
1. Am I missing something in doing the OCR of all pages?
2. Can I set up a batch process to do the delete of blank page series or can I set up a batch process which does OCR of all pages(and does not stop at a blank page) as it is doing now?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hm, you could convert every pdf-page to a image file (jpeg, etc.):
-install the package imagemagick
-use the command convert
convert -trim -density 150 your.pdf your.jpg
This will generate a jpg-file for every pdf-page; "-trim" removes the white margins, density specifies the resolution of the page (you could also try "-resize" instead of "-density") and 150 specifies amount of dots per inch.
This does not generate a new pdf-file, but maybe there is a way to convert the images back into a single pdf?

My lock button doesn't perform his job it keeps screenshotting everytime.

When i press my lock button, it screenshots instead of locking my iPhone.
Because of this problem I cant turn my device off when i want, mute calls or lock it. I tried resetting my iPhone, every setting goes to default but my lock button keeps making screenshots. My lock button and my home button work perfectly its just the fact that the lock button doesnt perform his job, it screenshots as my home button is pressed but im not touching it at all. A hypotesis can be that my home button is actually pressed all the time but when i use it to exit apps, it works normally.

Firefox downloaded on MacBook (Lion 10.7.2), shows open in dock but doesn't perform.

I'm going to assume you don't have AIR installed at this point. Let's try these steps:
1. Download the latest AIR runtime
2. Open a terminal window (Application/Utilities)
3. Mount the AIR dmg
4. Execute the following command: sudo /Volumes/Adobe\ AIR/Adobe\ AIR\ Installer.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe\ AIR\ Installer -silent -eulaAccepted
5. Enter your password
That should get AIR installed, from there you should be able to get Muse installed.

Mike, are you working with raw images?
For some raw images auto exposure is not available, have a look at this manual page:

When using a web site that opens a window within a window, Firefox doesn't perform this task as it normally would, but Internet Explorer still performs it as it should. Does anyone know what the problem is?
