PEI OnPageFinish(...) - get community ID ?

Question

I need to log (in a DB) when a user accesses any community. My first thought was to look into using IDirectoryActions but since we already have an implementation for IPageActions I decided to use that.
At first I was going to just get the current URL in OnPageFinish() and try to parse for "CommunityID=" in the query string but that seems risky. What if "CommunityId" was used instead of "CommunityID" by Plumtree in the future (I guess I could use regexp instead of just indexOf() - but then what if "CommId" was used instead).
This leads to my questions...
1. What is the best way to get the Community ID of which a user has accessed content (assuming this is from the IPageActions.OnPageFinish() method)?
2. When searching the discussion groups I noticed that a user mentioned that their Community names were more reliable than their Community IDs for determining things about their Communities, is that for every body or just them? This question is to make sure #1 above is done correctly and not incorrectly calling a Community with two different IDs as two different when it is the same Community.
3. Is there any relation between IDirectoryActions and Communities such that I could have used that instead of IPageActions to log when a user accesses content in a Community? i.e. do directories exist in or correspond to Communities in any way?

You have to develop 2 files. First, for example, CommunityProxy.asp. This file has to be placed into the Plumtree directory and works with Plumtree API you need. The code looks like:

Then you develop remote file (as a part of your remote portlet), in my case it was Java class. The point that you can get all information you need from http (the same way as Plumtree did). If you need send to remote ASP file some information (UserId for example put one in URL) In Java it looks like:
