Perform action on set of rows

Is there a way with 2008 r2 to perform an action based o as set of rows highlighted in the Excel pivot table.  Say for example the end user wants to drill through on three rows in a pivot table that all share a common attribute value.  Can they
somehow specify those three rows and perform an action?
John Schroeder

Hi Jschroeder,
According to your description, you want to set the action on the rows which share a common attribute value, in this case, the action is dynamically base on the values, right? In SQL Server Analysis Services, an action is an end user-initiated operation upon
a selected cube or portion of a cube. The operation can start an application with the selected item as a parameter, or it can retrieve information about the selected item. The action was defined at the cube design time. So I am afraid you requirement cannot
be done currently.
If I have anything misunderstood, please point it out.

  • How to set fire action event for particular rows in a table

    HI All,
    I have a requirement in which I want to set fire action event for particular rows in a table based on some condition.
    The table has columns like fullname,employee id etc.
    So i want to set fire action event for particulars rows only which will saisfy some condition.

    Atanu,
    Your approach(setting fire action for few rows) seems not possible. Better to go ahead with workaround.
    Do you want this functionality in processRequest(while page loading) or processFromRequest(on some event) method ? Give more explanation regd. your requirement ?
    In either case loop through the rows and when your condition is met write the action to be performed in controller.

  • Large Set of Rows - Performance

    Hello all.
    We do have a report (Apex 3.2), where if no filter is defined, loads about 60.000 lines. Running the same query on sqlplus or Sql Developer, the performance is acceptable, but on Apex, it takes several minutes, causing some users to abort (close the browser and try again, and aborting again). This behaviour is causing extreme CPU and disk workload. Temp tablespace sometimes gets 100% full to (2GB!!!).
    It is not an option to tell them to make some selection before submiting the page for 2 reasons: sometimes they forget it and sometimes they just do not want to do it, because they argue that "on Oracle Forms it was really quick".
    Are there any suggestions to this situation? It is causing some requests to go back to Oracle Forms 6i...
    Thanks in advance.

  • Ability to perform ALTER SESSION SET SQL TRACE but not all alter clauses

    I see that in order to run the ALTER SESSION SET SQL TRACE command, the user should be explicitly granted alter session privilege as the CREATE SESSION privilege alone is not enough. Is there a way to grant the ability to perform ALTER SESSION SET SQL TRACE but not the other clauses such as GUARD, PARALLEL & RESUMABLE?.

    If you are using Oracle 10g and above, you can use DBMS_SESSION.session_trace_enable procedure,
    it doesn't require alter session system privilege.
    Simple example:
    SQL> connect test/test@//192.168.1.2:1521/xe
    Connected.
    SQL> alter session set tracefile_identifier='my_id';
    Session altered.

  • LOV switcher and set current Row

    Hi
    I have a LOV switcher attached to one of the columns in the view object.
    It works fine while switching the LOV's in mostly all conditions.
    But its failing for one case.
    We are using checkboxex to select a row , and do a operation in the row.
    To do this, the button on which the operation is performed ...
    1)we have checked which row has the transient value of check box as checked
    2) Set the current row of the iterator to the row that comes from the selected check box index..
    3) Called the operation.
    But as the code go to step two and the current row is set to the required row, all the LOV 's in all the rows start showing the Default LOV which is selected in the LOV switcher, if i do a f5 fr the page, the original values are restored.
    Also if the VO fecth size is 25 , it gives wrong value for 25 rows, if i scroll through the table again it automatically shows the correct value.
    This has been taking a lot of out time to debug the issue.
    I guess its somethng to do with LOV switcher , set current row and the table getting refreshed incorrectly on set current row

    Hi Timo ,
    Thanks fr the reply..
    Jdev 11.1.1.4
    Code for checkbox selection
    DCBindingContainer dcbindings =
    (DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding iterator =
    dcbindings.findIteratorBinding(iteratorName);
    Row[] rowSet = iterator.getAllRowsInRange();
    Integer selectCount = 0;
    for (Row row : rowSet) {
    Object selAtt = row.getAttribute(selectAttribName);
    if (selAtt != null && (Boolean)selAtt == true) {
    System.out.println("Row selected");
    selectCount++;
    if (selectCount > 1) {
    System.out.println("More than one row selected!");
    throw new ValidationException("More than one row selected");
    else{
    iterator.setCurrentRowWithKey(row.getKey().toStringFormat(true));
    } else {System.out.println("Row not selected");}
    I actually sorted the issue out
    had to write
    iterator.refresh(Row.REFRESH_CONTAINEES); after iterator.setCurrentRowWithKey(row.getKey().toStringFormat(true));
    But not sure if thts correct ...

  • MERGE Statement - unable to get a stable set of rows in the source tables

    OWB Client: 10.1.0.2.0
    OWB Repository: 10.1.0.1.0
    I am trying to create a MERGE in OWB.
    I get the following error:
    ORA-12801: error signaled in parallel query server P004 ORA-30926: unable to get a stable set of rows in the source tables
    I have read the other posts regarding this and can't seem to get a fix.
    The target table has a unique index on the field that I am matching on.
    The "incoming" data doesn't have a unique index, but I have checked and confirmed that it is unique on the appropriate key.
    The "incoming" data is created by a join and filter in the mapping and I'd rather avoid having to load this data into a new table and add a unique index on this.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks
    Laura

    Hello Laura,
    The MERGE statement does not require any constraints on its target table or source table. The only requirement is that two input rows cannot update the same target row, meaning that all existing target rows can be matched by at most one input row (otherwise the MERGE would be undeterministic since you don't know which of the input rows you would end up with in the target).
    If a table takes ages to load (and is not really big) I suspect that your mapping is not running in set mode and that it performs a full table scan on source data for each target row it produces.
    If you ARE running in set mode you should run explain plan to get a hint on what is wrong.
    Regarding your original mapping, try to set the target operator property:
    Match by constraint=no constraints
    and then check the Loading properties on each target column.

  • Set specific rows in ALV grid ready for input

    Hi everyone,
      I have a question about how to set specific rows in ALV grid ready for input.
      I know that I can make some columns ready for input before the ALV displayed,but I have no idea how to make specific rows displayed in the ALV ready for input.

    Hello Aaron
    For editable columns we can use the fieldcatalog (LVC_S_FCAT-EDIT = 'X') but for rows you need to define editability on cell level.
    The required steps are documented in sample report BCALV_EDIT_02. Below I point out a few crucial points:
    *§1.Extend your output table for a field, e.g., CELLTAB, that holds
    *   information about the edit status of each cell for the
    *   corresponding row (the table type is SORTED!).
    DATA: BEGIN OF gt_outtab occurs 0.  "with header line
            include structure sflight.
    DATA: celltab type LVC_T_STYL.
    DATA: END OF gt_outtab.
    *§3.Provide the fieldname of the celltab field by using field
    *   STYLEFNAME of the layout structure.
       gs_layout-stylefname = 'CELLTAB'.
       CALL METHOD grid1->set_table_for_first_display
             EXPORTING i_structure_name = 'SFLIGHT'
                       is_layout        = gs_layout
             CHANGING  it_outtab        = gt_outtab[].
    Note: in the sample report only field SEATSMAX is editable. In your case you need
    to fill CELLTAB for all fields in a row.
    *§2.After selecting data, set edit status for each row in a loop
    *   according to field SEATSMAX.
      LOOP AT gt_outtab.
        l_index = sy-tabix.
        refresh lt_celltab.
        if gt_outtab-seatsmax ge 300.
            perform fill_celltab using 'RW'
                                 changing lt_celltab.
        else.
            perform fill_celltab using 'RO'
                                 changing lt_celltab.
        endif.
    *§2c.Copy your celltab to the celltab of the current row of gt_outtab.
        INSERT LINES OF lt_celltab INTO TABLE gt_outtab-celltab.
        MODIFY gt_outtab INDEX l_index.
      ENDLOOP.
    ENDFORM.                               " SELECT_DATA_AND_INIT_STYLE
    NOTE: LVC_T_STYL is a SORTED table type. Thus, take care that you are using the
    INSERT ... INTO TABLE statement and not APPEND (because then nothing is appended
    to the CELLTAB itab).
      IF p_mode EQ 'RW'.
    *§2a.Use attribute CL_GUI_ALV_GRID=>MC_STYLE_ENABLED to set a cell
    *    to status "editable".
        l_mode = cl_gui_alv_grid=>mc_style_enabled.
      ELSE. "p_mode eq 'RO'
    *§2b.Use attribute CL_GUI_ALV_GRID=>MC_STYLE_DISABLED to set a cell
    *    to status "non-editable".
        l_mode = cl_gui_alv_grid=>mc_style_disabled.
      ENDIF.
      ls_celltab-fieldname = 'SEATSMAX'.
      ls_celltab-style = cl_gui_alv_grid=>mc_style_disabled.
      INSERT ls_celltab INTO TABLE pt_celltab.

  • Dynamic action with set value on date field

    Hi,
    I'm using APEX 4.02
    I'm trying to calculate the age based on the date of birth dynamically on a form. I'm trying to do this with a (advanced)dynamic action with set value.
    I'm able to get this kind of action working based on a number field etc, but NEVER on a date field.
    I've read all posts on this subject but so far no solution. Even if I try to simply copy the value over to another date field or typecast it to a string ( to_char function ) it does not work. So for me the problem seems to be in the source field being a date field.
    I've tried using the source value as is in a select statement :
    select :P33_GEBOORTEDATUM from dual;
    and also type casted based on the date format :
    select TO_DATE(:P33_GEBOORTEDATUM,'DD-MON-YYYY') from dual
    but still no luck.
    On the same form I don't have any issues as long as the calculation is based on number fields, but as soon as I start using dates all goes wrong.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you need any extra info just let me know.
    Cheers

    b.t.w My application default date format is DD-MON-YYYY, maybe this has something to do with the issue .... ?

    Hi,
    Create a dynamic action named "set age" with following values.
    Event: Change
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH
    Action: Set value
    Fire on page load: TRUE
    Set Type: PL/SQL Expression
    PL/SQL Expression: ROUND( (SYSDATE - :P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH)/365.24,0)
    Page items to submit: P1_DATE_OF_BIRTH
    Selection Type: Item(s)
    Item(s): P1_AGE

  • Performance degradation after setting filesystemio_option=setall from none.

    Hi All,
    We have facing performance degradation after setting filesystemio_option=setall from none on my two servers as mentioned below.
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4 (Nahant Update 7) 2.6.9 55.ELhugemem (32-bit)
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga) 2.6.18 92.1.10.el5 (64-bit)
    We are seeing lots of Disk I/O happening. We expected "*filesystemio_option=setall* " will improve performance but it is degrading. We getting slowness complains.
    Please let me know do we need to set somethign else along with this ...like any otimizer parameter( e.g. optimizer_index_cost_adj, optimizer_index_caching).
    Please help.

    Hi Suraj,
    <speculation>
    You switched filesystemio_options to setall from none, so, the most likely reason for performance degradation after switching to setall is the implementation of directio. Direct I/O will skip the filesystem buffer cache, and and allow Oracle to read directly from disk to the database buffer cache. However, on a system where direct I/O is not implemented, which is what you had until you recently messed with that parameter, it's likely that you had an undersized database buffer cache, but that was ok, because many (most) of the physical I/Os your database was doing, were actually being serviced by the O/S filesystem buffer cache. But, you introduced direct I/O, and wiped out the ability of the O/S to service any physical I/Os from filesystem buffer cache. This means that every cache miss on the database buffer cache, turns into a real, physical, spin-the-disk, move-the-drive-head, physical I/O. And, you are suffering the performance consequences.
    </speculation>
    Ok, end of speculation. Now, assuming that what I've outlined above is actually going on, what to do? Why is direct I/O lower performing than buffered, non-direct I/O? Shouldn't it's performance be superior?
    Well, when you have an established system that's using buffered I/O, and you switch to direct I/O, you almost always will have to increase the size of the database buffer cache. The problem is that you took a huge chunk of memory away from the the O/S, that it was using to buffer your I/Os and avoid physical I/O. So, now, you need to make up for it, by increasing the size of the database buffer cache. You can do this, without buying more memory for the box, because the O/S is no longer going to need to use so much memory for filesystem buffers.
    So, what to do? Is it worth switching? Well, on balance, it makes sense to use direct I/O, and give Oracle a larger database buffer cache, for the simple fact that (particularly on a server that's dedicated to being an Oracle database server), Oracle has far more sophisticated caching algorithms, and a better understanding of the various types of data being cached, and so should be able to make more efficient use of the memory, than the (relatively) brain dead caching algorithms of the kernel and filesystem mechanisms.
    But, once again, it all comes down to this:
    What problem are you trying to solve? Did you have any I/O related issues? Do you have any compelling reason to implement direct I/O? Rule #1 is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Did you just violate rule #1? :-)
    Finally, since you're on Linux, you can use the 'free' command to see how much memory is on the box, how much is free, and how much is dedicated to filesystem cache buffers. This response is already pretty long, so, I'm not going to get into details, however, if you're not familiar with the command, the results could be misleading. Read the man page, and try to be clear about understanding it before you make any assumptions about the output.
    Hope that helps,

  • Error 2: Failed to perform Action

    I used the Program > Uninstall to remove all the NI Software from my PC due to a largenumber of issues in the dev encironment.
    I then went to reinstall just LabVIEW 2014.  I now get an error: "Error 2: Failed to perform ACtion Liscence Manager Updating OS Compatibility."  The next dialog is "Unknown Error (no details)" and then the install exits.
    If I look at Programs and Features, I see that the only NI program installed was the NI Customer Experience Improvement Program (irony...)
    One KB Article suggsting installing the NI Update Service, but that failed too.
    I have tried registry cleaning and MS Fix It, still no help.
    I cant go back to a restore point, since there is a restore point created for each NI software (100+), and by default windows seems to only store the last 20 or so.
    I really do not want to reformat since I have other software that is a pain in the butt with liscencing to re-setup.
    I have re-downloaded the LV2014 installer from the website twice, no improvement.

    I would recommend creating a service request to work with an NI Applications Engineer on this issue:

  • Is it feasible to set the rows displayed per page dynamically?

    Hi,
    Is it feasible to set the rows displayed per page dynamically in the table view result as per the user wants eg : the user wishes to see only 25 records or all the records?
    Also what is the maximum limit of rows that can be fetched as per the entry in instanceconfig.xml :
    <ResultRowLimit>65000</ResultRowLimit>
    Is there a limit for number of rows being displayed in table view?
    thanks

    Balu,
    try to trace your page to see how your statement can be tuned. To do that add &p_trace=YES to the URL.
    This creates a standard Database Trace file which can be analyzed with TKPROF or SQL Developer or similiar tools.
