Performance Management Systems in Oracle HR

We have recently implemented Oracle HR & are in the process of reviewing our approach to employee performance management. Our current system has some definate areas for improvement.
Would love to find out how your organisation has implemented this section of HR - the good, the bad & the ugly.

Cisco always used to be the big HR reference site for Oracle. Got to the point where they would charge for reference visits, supposed to be good though.

Why the latest versions of Firefox do not allow me to work with Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System?

I use the software Oracle Performance Management System (it is a platform web based pretty common in the finance dpts) for work and is impossible for me to log in using recent versions of firefox.
Every time I get an autoupdate I have to uninstall it and install the version 3.5.7.......... pretty frustrating.
If you can help me otherwise i will be constrained to change browser.

If you are going to install an older version of Firefox 3.5.*, it would be best to try 3.5.13 which is the latest 3.5 version of Firefox and has the latest security fixes. This is available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

Document management system using oracle text

i plan to create document management system using oracle text with following features
1) document comparision
2) document search
and more...
can oracle text be used to display documents of various formats by converting them to HTML. and can search keywords be highlighted in the document.
please help!

Have you ever considered doing this in Oracle Application Express (free on top of the Oracle database)? How about something like:

Index the files using the CONTEXT index, and perhaps the docs' meta with it using the Oracle Text MULTI_COLUMN_DATASTORE, and then when you write your query for a report on the documents include a search string.
I've created a number of APEX-based document management systems and it is quite easy once you get the hang of using this environment. I suggest looking at some of the tutorials/how-to documents and you'll be on your way quickly.
Start with the upload application. Once you can get your documents in, create a report that shows everything except the document. Verify all of this works correctly.
Add some "items" to the page for the report, and include them as bind variables in the where clause.
After that, add your Oracle Text index to the database, and toss in a "text-field" item to the APEX page. Modify your report query, adding the CONTAINS clause, and use the newly created item as a bind variable. There's your keyword search.
Linking to Oracle Apps is done through API's and may be over database links.
Hope it helps. Though not a step-by-step how to document, this should point you in the right direction. Get familiar with APEX as that covers most of what you described.

Performance Management system

In Performance Management system I want to send appraisal documents to atleast 10 people.In *appcreate* transaction code i could able to send for 1 employee but i want to send more than one employee

Dear Subramanian,
In the 'Old' appraisal (so using APPCREATE) system it worked that way:
If you want to appraise a group of employees in total then you can use the functionality of multisource appraisals (that will create one document with multiple appraisee)
If you want to appraise each employee individually then you have to do an appraisal for each employee.
An appraisal normally is very personal and individual, so there is no transaction creating appraisals as mass data.
Normally an appraisal is done between an employee and his manager. So for every employee an appraisal form is created by the manager.
Now with the new 'Objective settings and appraisal', you can create several documents (for a selection of employees) at the same time using transaction PHAP_PREPARE (but this is not availablewith the od system).

Document Management System in Oracle EBS

does the EBS offer a document management system where I can store, check in/check out, display... documents with meta data and also original files (like a pdf or word file)?
If something like this exists, what are the corresponding objects and is there also an API for it (pl/sql or even better, web service)?

It is possible to store documents/attachments in Oracle EBS database.

This does not look a real "Document Management System" with meta data, version control, status handling and all that stuff, right?

SMSY Data Source changes after performing Managed System Config

Hello everyone,
I am working with Solman EHP1 SPS26. I have setup up my central SLD to push system data to my Solman local SLD which is then retrieved from Landscape Fetch to SMSY. Initially, everything seemed to be working and all data sources reported SLD.
However, once I performed the Managed System Confirguration wizard for a particular technical system, that systems data source would change to TMS/RFC under SMSY. It's actually not even that consistent. For example, the server says source is RFC, the product system says TMS/RFC and some of the product instances still say SLD.
Is this normal for this to happen after connecting a managed system? Will these systems still be updated via the SLD considering SMSY_SETUP is configured to use the SLD?
Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
If you notice in SMSY this is not an editable field.
It is reporting the last datasource used.
Thefore when you made a change via managed system setup that became the last data source used.
So yes it is normal to see this change.
If you have configured the datasource to be the SLD, it should continue to update these systems.
Where you need to watch out is making manual changes in SMSY, as the SLD can view this as a different system to the SID it knows and will generate systems with known SIDs appended with a suffix variable to distinguish it, as the SLD will not overwrite manual changes, and will create new systems instead.
But the field in SMSY reflects the last data source used.

I think clue is on the this line;

make sure LDAP connection is working. Make sure use default ports for all connections. Most of the samples on the OTN uses default port, if you change them you, you have to modify sample code.

Page display error - Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Fusion

We run this via internet explorer
Our systems are Windows 7 and office 2010 & Internet Explorer 9 - Smart View version 11.1.1.3 500
One of the systems sometimes when refreshing the page / data the grid toolbar including the arrows and save button display over the top of the configured tabs
Has anyone else experenced this error, sometimes when going into the preferences will also hang that Internet explorer window

Then I changed the prpoerty of each dimension to "Allow duplicates in Dimension" and then changed the property of the application in OEPMS's outline to "Allow Duplicates in outline".

Installing/configuring the InfoSphere Optim Performance Manager system

I am looking at the InfoSphere Optim..... to install. I have not used this tool before and am skeptical. Since the Control Center is deprecated it looks like this is the replacement. Is this tool an additional cost to license or is it available to customers who have advanced enterprise editions?
Can this be run on a standard Windows PC or I should ask will it run well? I would install this onto my work PC and use it for my production (EHP & Netweaver BW) systems. Is there a quick setup guide or does this need to be installed via SAP install?
Lastly, what is the ramp up time that it will take to obtain performance recommendations out of the tool?

The message that appears on help is: Contact IDS Scheer to add more DMS servers.
I have a Alfresco DMS and Entropysoft connector installed, but still nothing.

I'm not sure you can do using standard functionality but you might be able to code it via badi (such as the one below)

Using Oracle PMS, clients can automate their entire assessment cycle right from objective setting to assessment.
Objective Setting - Is a collaborative process between Employee and his/her manager. You have the option of selecting the initiator of the process as either employee or the manager (Cascading/parallel). both the parties have to agree for freezing the objectives
Assessment - All approved objective will automatically flow to your assessment, based on the appraisal template define. You have the option of using competency assessment, objective assessment or even some questionnaire functionality as part of assessment.
Scope will be dependent on your business requirement. You key assumptions can include based on what your business wants to do:
1. Do the business need a global Objective setting plan or regional
2. Process of review of objectives
3. How will the actual loaded into system for objectives? (Not available out-of box)
4. What is the frequency of assessment? Twice a year or annual assessment
5. What will be the normalization method? (Not available out-of box)
