Performing channel-to-channel measurements on o-scope

I am using a Tektronics TDS3054B Oscilloscope (although this could pertain to any O-scope) with labview and GPIB.  I am trying to figure out how to perform channel-to-channel measurements (such as measuring the time from trigger on channel 1 to some action on channel 2).  I see how measurements can be made on a single channel but not on more than one.  I could potentially use the vertical cursers, but I don't see how I would position them at certain events other than maually.
Can someone shed some light my way?
Thanks,
Tony

If your scope does not support channel to channel measurements, then these are usually pretty effectively done in LabVIEW once you've transferred both waveforms. There are a variety of waveform functions (i.e. Basic Level Trigger Detection, Waveform Peak Detection) that will return location information. You can also extract the Y array from the waveform and use functions such as Array Max and Min. If you can mathematically define the points at which you want to do a measurement between, then LabVIEW can do it all in software without cursors.

  • CDAQ 9229 configure for independant channel measurement

I have a need to use the cDAQ 9229 to make 3 measurements using 3 separate channels at different times, but when I try to configurre the channels independantly and use them to make a measurement.
    My configuration is (pseudo):
    Chan1: Create Chan "Dev1/ai0",commit,start_task,read,stop,clear.
    Chan2: Create Chan "Dev1/ai1",commit,start_task,read,stop,clear.
    Chan3: Create Chan "Dev1/ai2",commit,start_task,read,stop,clear.
The First CHannel Works, but when the second gets to commit, I get an error saying the following.
"NI Platform Services:  The specified resource is reserved. The operation could not be completed as specified."
    Please help.

If you have truly stopped and cleared the previous task, you will not get the error. Post your actual LabVIEW code so someone can look at it.
Your alternative, as you must have seen when you searched for the error, is to simply read all channels.

  • DCA 5 Ghz Channel List and UNII-2 channels

Which channels should I have listed in my DCA 5Ghz channel list?  Should I be using or when should I use the Extended UNII-2 Channels
    Thanks

    Hi,
Utilization of the 5 GHz range and channel list:
Less congestion, anyone who has been administrating or implemented a wireless knows how many other devices are using the 2.4 GHz range everything from BlueTooth devices (which is found in almost every phone), microwaves (found in office lunch/break rooms), to cordless phones. More particularly microwaves and cordless phones they will congest the 2.4 GHz spectrum without regard for any other device using the RF band. The 5 GHz does not suffer from as much interference as the 2.4 GHz  range does, of course proper survey’s should be done prior to rolling out a Wi-Fi network just to be sure.
More non-overlapping channel, the 5 GHz range consists of 3 bands. These bands provide us with 21 non-overlapping channels this gives us the ability to more densely pack an area with 802.11a/n access points. Decreasing the amount of clients per AP (With proper load balancing) providing increased throughput, and making roaming a seamless process. Where as the 2.4 GHz range only gives us 3 non-overlapping channels (1, 6, 11). Detailed information on each UNII band can be found below.
Channel Bonding. While you can perform channel bonding in the 2.4 GHz it is better suited for the 5 GHz range. Channel bonding is how you achieve speeds up to 600 Mbps in 802.11n it does this by making the channels 40 MHz wide compared to 20 MHz wide. Channel bonding at the 5 GHz range still leaves you with 12 non-overlapping channel, while channel bonding in the 2.4 GHz range gives you 1 (possibly 2) channel.
Future use. The next wireless standard after 802.11n, is most likely going to be 802.11ac which is promising us Wi-Fi speeds in the Gbps’s it plans to accomplish this by using 40, 80, or 160 MHz wide channels this is going to rule out the 2.4 GHz range completely. (Unless it’s changed.)
    UNII-1/Lower Band (5.150 to 5.250 GHz) Non-overlapping channels 36, 40, 44, 48
    UNII-2/Middle Band (5.250 to 5.350 GHz) Non-overlapping channels 52, 56, 60, 64
    UNII-2 Extended (5.470 to 5.725 GHz) Non-overlapping channels 100, 104, 108, 112, 120, 124, 128, 136, 140
    UNII-3/Upper Band (5.725 to 5.825 GHz) on-overlapping channels 149, 153, 157, 161, 165

  • How do i adjust veritcal range on each channel of the 5105

I'm using a 5105 to capture 4 analog signals and 4 control signals that are at different levels.  Is it possible to configure the 5105 for different vertical ranges on each of the 8 channels?
    Thanks

Thanks.  I think that's what I was looking for except the figures are no longer available so
I can't be sure.  The text sounds like what I was looking for.  An  NI engineer found the
    following:
I would recommend taking a look at the two examples that I have included.
    1. The first example shows how you can set the Vertical Range independently
for different channels by using an NI-SCOPE Property Node.
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/2085
2 . The second example shows how you can set the Vertical Range by using
two different niScope Configure Vertical.vi with a different channel name
    going to each.

  • 0xc000035b error during windows integrated login

I've been trying to setup an ADFS SQL farm. I've been running into an issue when trying to authenticate a use using Windows Integrate Authentication. I get it in all the browsers that I've tried (IE, Firefox, Chrome). What's happening is that the HTTP challenge
box keeps popping up. I put in valid credentials (I've entered them in in various forms, UPN, domain\username, etc.), but the system never accepts them and keeps challenging until I cancel or I get a 401. When I look into the logs I see the following:

During the setup of the ADFS SQL farm, I got a warning about the service principle name being already taken by some other AD object. Upon further investigation, that error is appearing because the setup is trying to assign an SPN to a domain user that is
already assigned to the machine in the AD. So, I found ADFS docs that show how to manually assign an SPN to a service account. Still no go.
So here is a run down on how ADFS is being accessed. We have a reverse proxy that all web traffic is going through. The ADFS server farm (a farm of one server) is behind this reverse proxy. I've tried assigning SPNs to the service account that ADFS is running
under that reflect external and internal DNS names. Can anyone shed some light on this? Windows integrated auth works great when I setup a stand-alone server and don't have to do all the service account stuff.

    Hallis:
I have a web application running on Azure, the ADFS server is published to the internet using TMG.
When accessing the application from my internal network everything works as expected. I see from the logs that the user is loggen on using Kerberos. This works for both domain joined computers and others.
But, when accessing the application from outside my internal network I get the same behaviour as you described.
The only difference in these scenarios is the reverse proxy. When it fails NTLM is used, when it works Kerberos is used. Maybe ADFS does not support NTLM?
    pagefaulted:
I'm having the same issue except replace a reverse proxy with a F5 Bigip. Anyone out there have any solutions or at least explain why it is failing?
    Hi all,
I've encountered the same issue a few of you mentioned above, when using a reverse proxy. In my case, the solution was to turn off Extended Protection (see
Configure Extended Protection in IIS 7.5 or
Windows Extended Protection) on the LS folder, or to configure it to match your use scenario and not perform channel-binding token (CBT) checking.
To turn Extended Protection off, on the AD FS server, launch IIS Manager, then, on the left side tree view, access
Sites -> Default Web Site -> adfs -> ls. Once you’ve selected the “/adfs/ls” folder, double-click the
Authentication icon, then right-click Windows Authentication and select
Advanced Settings… On the Advanced Settings dialog, choose Off for
    Extended Protection.

  • 3rd party AU plug ins vs Logic Plug ins

has any one got any suggestions of any 3rd party plug ins or instruments that compare or better the Logic ones, i am very happy indeed with what i have at the moment but feel some of the sounds i am getting from the synths are lacking a bit of warmth, maybe i need to dig a little deeper or maybe there are better things out there, obviously the ES2 is a killer piece of software but some of the pads that i am creating are not up to scratch. Is this just me? am i not adding enough plug ins to the synth or is it just not as deep as people say it is? i hear waves are a good too, discuss..............Thanks

    3rd party stuff eh?
Spectrsonics makes stellar AU plug ins. Can't wait for the aforementioned atmosphere to come out as UB this fall.
Also mentioned before, Reason is just a fun program that is very powerful and inspiring.
Odd that many people mentioned the NI products. I would, but after getting FM8, I just can't say I am an NI fan.
FM8 sound great! The software is powerfull, the UI is easy to use, the flexibility is enormous, but I can't recall all the setting of patches with Channel strip settings. I was quite disappointed as I wanted to Use FM8 to give me that DX-7 Rhodes sound to use for live gigs, but recalling a performance channel strip didn't load the envelopes, and the sound just didn't work. I emailed NI and asked what the deal was, and they told me it was a bug, sorry. The only workaround they could give me was to load the patch from FM8 it's self.
I still use FM8 for recordings, but never for live use. I also decided not to try any new NI products fearing more incompatibilities with how I work.
NI's stuff does sound great, but with tweaking I can get most of my other synths to match it.

  • Changing evb3 programs within a sequence

Hi: I'm trying to use different evb3 presets within the same track. There isn't a "program" checkbox in the object box.
Any ideas how I can do this?
    Thanks, JP

There are many ways to skin a cat on this one:
    1) Put your drawbar settings in one preset and call them up with the appropriate MIDI note trigger.
    2) Create performance channel strips.
    3) Automation

  • MainStage = bliss

This app and I are going to be best buds
-Process audio using all appropriate effect plug-ins from Studio Effects
-Audio Units support for all third-party plug-ins
-Up to 32 total keyboard layers per Patch, with up to 8 layers per split
-Floating keyboard splits that dynamically adjust during a performance
-Channel strip setting crossfades for blending between sounds with a single controller move
-Busses for advanced audio routing, submixing, and effects processing
I've been waiting for something like this for years! I was hoping it would be NI's Kore but, so far Kore still needs a bit more work.
This looks relatively simple but surprisingly powerful.
    Thank you Apple.

yes this is nice and all, but its still missing one key feature; the ability to use and control external legacy midi synths and effects units. Software has come a long way and systems are more powerful, but I still have synths and effects units that I have not found a suitable software replacement. And, being able to use external devices helps off load some of the system strain. I can do most of this in the environment now except the patch management feature, and it would sure be nice to have a nicer interface on stage than the environment provides, such as a larger display of the patch name.
MainStage looks awesome, but in the same way that NI missed the boat on providing external midi device control, Apple missed it as well.
It seems like an easy enough fix ... all we would need to to access the External Instrument plug and a place to put in a patch change to send to the external device.
Is there any way to supplement this feature with the Environment? Can we use Environment objects to supplement MainStage or can we use MainStage objects in the Environment to make the changes we want?
    thanks

  • Need Help on Cisco Wireless Solution!

    Hello Netpros!
I have some issues that probably most of wireless implementers faced after implementing a wireless solution. This is an actual feedback from the customer and These issues can be broken down to the following:
    1. The wireless Network is slow! (wireless performance)
The customer has Airtight in placed and airtight reports that users are mostly connected to the wireless network on 2 mbps speed. Users also says that their network experience using wireless are slow compared to wired network.
My question is what reports or guides that cisco wireless cotroller system or WLC can shows that proves the network is working as it is intended. Any guides on how to improve the user experience? Any guide from Cisco IT?
During these slowness, what reports from WCS or WLC that can best shows the problems and helps us implementers to mitigate the problem?
    2. Baseline Wireless Performance.
When asked about a baseline performance of wireless network, what reports from the WCS or WLC that can show this and what is the acceptable or baseline values?
    3. Is there a general guideline on how to use WCS or WLC reporting tools to troubleshoot a wireless performance issue? What reports to see? and how to translate that to say to the customer that the wireless network is under performing?
The main reasons i am asking these questions is because i cannot find any useful documents in cisco that guides the wireless implementers on how to use the reports generated by WCS or WLC when it concerns the performance of the wireless.
Most of the reports WCS generate that relates to the performance normally rounds up the AP performance, channel, noise, but how to translate that to user concerns is another matter.
Perhaps these issues are partly due to user expectations or maybe the wireless setup need to be tweaked or even might requires a spectrum analyzer to pinpoint interferences.
In either cases, I hope netpros can help direct me to good documentation albeit from cisco or other sources that can best outline wireless performance reporting using cisco wcs and wlc.
    Background information:
The wireless network setup has one WCS, one location appliance, 4 WLCs and around 150 to 200 APs, most running Local and some running HREAP. Most of the issues concerns the local type APs.
    Thanking all in advance!
    maldin

    Yup,
thats what we told the customer and even showed them the wlc/wcs reports.
Unfortunately, these customers are lacking in wireless knowledge and they want a streamlined, documented steps to generate the reports and also to help them understand in laymen terms.
At the moment we are formulating a holistic approach to the customer to get them understand wireless first, get them to have a policy and enforce and then drill down to management, reporting and troubleshooting.
The thing is, the wireless is always working fine, but sometimes so it happens some bigshots unable to connect to the wireless network in meeting rooms or somewhere and the become jumpy and pointing fingers.
So the IT manager wants to reduces the finger pointing by having the WLC/WCS to produce reports to them.

  • FiOS + VCR + Standby Mode = problems for my Grandma.

So my Grandma just got FiOS. She still "tapes" stuff using VCR's (crazy, I know... but she ain't changing).
Problem is, since she's had FiOS, she has been left with a bunch of tapes that contain nothing but the black standby "Press Menu to blah blah blah" screen instead of the shows she was supposed to be recording.
Is there any way around this in her situation?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

By default, the remote will turn off / on both the TV and the STB when you press the power button.   Normally that is exactly what you want to occur.   You can however disable that sequence and make it so that the power button only works the device you have selected on the remote.
    From the remote documentation:
    On the remote:
    1.  Press and hold the STB key.
    2.  While hlding down the STB, press OK
    3.  Release both keys.  The Device keys will blink twice.
    4.  Press 9 - 7 - 7.  The STB key will blink twice.
    5.  Press OK.  The STB key will blink 3 times to indicate success in programming.
Now, to turn off the TV, press the TV key and then the Power button.   To turn off the STB, press the STB key and then the power button.   To work the STB, press the STB key followed by whatever commands you wanted to perform (channel, volume, etc.)

  • Acquire both Analog and Digital waveforms from MSO3034 (Tektronix)

    Hi,
How can I acquire simulataneously both the digital (16) and analog (4) channels from the Tektronix MSO3034 scope?
    Thanks

    Klimovitsky,
I am not familar with how the MSO3034 performs simulataneous acquistion, but the LabVIEW driver for the MSO3034 can configure multiple channels and then read the data from the scope. There are examples with the driver on how to read multiple waveforms.

  • Waveform graph Y positions

I am trying to view 2 channels on a TDS5034B oscilloscope at different vertical positions. Using the driver files, i can adjust the channels vertical positions on the scope but not on my waveform graph. They both start on the 0 position intsead on my required 1 and -2 so that they can be viewed easier. Does the build wavefrom need extra info?

When you retrieve the waveform data from the scope, you are getting the actual x values and not the display offset. There are a couple of things that you can do. One is to retrieve the display offset and add that to the data. This is easily done with the add function. One input would be your x array. The other input would be the offset as a scalar. This will off the offset to every element in the array. Of course when you do that, any measurements you do with the resultant waveform will have to take into account the offset that you added. Another way to offset the waveforms and keep the original values is to assign the waveforms to two different axes of a graph (duplicate scales) and then offset the scales. For example, you could use a property node to set y range 1 to +7/-3 and y range 2 to +3/-7 if the range would normally be +5/-5. This is basically what you are doing on the scope when you move the zero reference point.

  • Can the output voltage during boot-up of the CFP-AIO-610 module be held to zero?

During power on or reset of the system the analog outputs go to 10V instead of 0V. Once the system is up and resonsive the default value kicks in and the level goes to 0V. Is there a way to keep the voltage near zero during a reset?

When the voltage is reading 10V, do you have any load connected, or is the output channel connected directly your multimeter/scope? If the channel is left open, that might lead it to charge to the positive rail (10V). Try putting a resistor across the output terminals and see if it still reads 10V during boot up.
    Let me know the results...

  • Tds744a (error-1301 TKTDS 7xx Config Chan)

    hello,
I recently migrated to the labview8 environment from 7.1. A program that was originally written in labview7.1 for the tds744a o-scope (over GPIB)
has been quite problematic in labview 8. The issue is the setting of the vertical scale for the individual channels particulary the first three channel when a 10x probe is attached. A limit of 1V/div is allowed under labview8. This has not been a problem under labview7.1. Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

    Hello Angela
I tried using the LabVIEW 8.0 instrument driver but the problem keeps happening. Attached is the NI Spy capture file (capture.spy). I have set channel 3 of the o-scope at 5V/div with the instrument address at GPIB0::6::INSTR. The error occurs around line 65. Attached is a second capture file (working.spy) when things are working fine as a reference (All four channels on the o-scope are set below the 1V/div scale). Thanks for your help.
