Period Frequency in HFM

Hi,
I tried to create a view for xxx_ict_transactons in database where xxx stands for the HFM application name. However, I found no appropriate table to extrieve period frequency information for xxx_ict_transactions.period column. Could someone help advise? Thanks.

You'd want the period dimension here. This can be set to include all frequencies (Enterprise style), from Year to Half year, quarter, month, week, etc.

  • ODI periodic values from HFM

    Hi,
I need help regarding ODI. Now I am trying to get data from HFM to Oracle database. Everything is running ok, however I have noticed one issue, some of the values from HFM are not transferred to database. Interesting thing is that if I choose view filter for data source "YTD" - values are correct on target side , however with "Periodic"- it have not transferred everything, some of the values on target side are missing, can anyone suggest something regarding this issue?
In addition this happens only in case if on source side (HFM) YTD value is 0 for period which transferred.
    e.g.
    YTD :
    MAR = +10
    APR = 0
    Periodic:
    MAR = 10
    APR = -10
    APR value is not transferred.
    Thank you.

Hi - unfortunately you cannot do that in the current KM. We faced the same issue and logged the issue with Oracle. Its being considered as an enhancement not as a bug. So we have to wait for future releases. As a solution for this we created TaskLists in HFM and extracted data.

  • Unable to use Periodic as a View frequency in EPMA

Setup: we have recently configured an EPM 11.1.2.1 environment and have migrated over two HFM applications from current production system. Both applications are accessible from within EPM Workspace. I have "Transformed" the classic applications to EPMA models and can view/modify them within Application/Dimension Library.
Issue: When attempting to Validate the consolidation applications within EPMA, I keep getting the following error in the validation report:
Error : Member 'ACTUAL' in dimension 'Scenario' failed validation 'DefaultFreqCantBeNullOrPeriodic' for the following reason(s): Default Frequency cannot be empty or Periodic.
EPMA is not liking that my View dimension has the "Periodic" frequency and having it set on the "Default Frequency" for scenarios. Is there a reason why "Periodic" cannot be used?
Periodic is commonly used and described within HFM documentation and I have yet to see any documentation stating that EPMA cannot use Periodic as the base month frequency.
The other user defined view frequencies that I use are QTD and YTD. They are aligned with quarters and [Year] within the Period dimension.
I'm looking for a solution that does not require a full rebuild of the HFM applications where I would then define the base frequency as "MTD" instead of Periodic.
Any insight or solution is greatly appreciated!!

I will do my best on your comments and may be repetitive (I am also getting tried and am sleepy). I get the impression that the result looks fine in Acrobat OR Reader. I an not sure reader can e-mail the PDF, but if it can the results often depend on the client e-mail setup (typically requiring MAPI to be active. Many folks (even my on some machines) just can't get the e-mail option to work. I would suggest that they simply attach the PDF to an e-mail directly, though I think you are trying to streamline the process. At least that may give a working process as you are trying to find out what is happening.
Howver, you also seem to suggest that the e-mail works (that would mean that the PDF was attached to the e-mail). In that case, my guess is that the e-mail package on the client machine is not set to encode attachments properly. I would suggest that encoding (typically MIME) be activated in the client for all attachments. Outlook has problems in that it often reads a PDF as a text file and does not encode it unless you force the encoding. When that happens the PDF gets corrupted.
If that is not the problem, then it may simply be that the fonts are not in the PDF or present on the receiving systems, causing a messed up font substitution, particularly if something like the MAC PDF viewer is being used rather than Reader.
I may still not understand the problem, but that is my best guess at this point.

  • Loading HFM Periodic data

I just wanted to know if it is possible to load periodic data to HFM through ODI in the same manner you can export?  I am loading budget data from a flat file and wanted to know if I can do it all in one interface or if I will have to package up several interfaces to get the same result
    Thanks

Bear in mind that base data in the underlying HFM tables is always stored as YTD and any display of periodic data is derived from these base YTD values. If you are loading the data you will therefore need to transform the periodic data in ODI so that it loads cumulatively on a monthly basis to load as YTD

  • Digital Frequency Measurement for cRIO

    Hi,
I'm new to LabView, and I'm having problems setting up a VI for frequency measurement. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Task: I am using a cRIO with a digital I/O module (NI 9403). My goal is to connect the sensor that I am using (a MAXIM 6576 temperature sensor with period/frequency output in the form of a square wave) to the cRIO and have a VI measure and output its current frequency or period.
I've tried working with the Count and Period.vi, but when I tried to compile I found out the 9403 module does not support SCTL. I also looked at a thread that was posted in 2009 (http://forums.ni.com/t5/Counter-Timer/beginner-stuff-cRIO-digital-frequency-measurement/td-p/826656/... that discussed a similar problem, but when I tried using the Host VI I got the multiple error messages saying "Function not supported in current target". This happened even when I tried using the original Count and Period (Host).vi with no modifications (but the original Count and Period (FPGA).vi works just fine).
I don't know how to approach this problem - should I be using FPGA or Scan Interface mode? Are there any basic examples of frequency measurement or digital counters that do not involve NI data acquisition devices? For a basic counter, how would you set up the VI so that it could measure the period or frequency based on the counter values?
Thanks a lot for your help!
    Andrea

    Hello,
A great place to get started when using a cRIO is the NI CompactRIO Developer's Guide.  It will explain both Scan Mode and FPGA.  The difference between them comes down to the functionality and what you would like to complete in the program.  The simpler of the two is Scan Mode but you have more functionality with FPGA.
We offer a lot of good examples in our NI Example Finder by going to Help >> Find Examples.  In here you can narrow the examples by hardware or just browse to different categories.  We do have a counter example that will work with the NI 9403 you can get to the example by going to Hardware Input and Output >> NI Scan Engine >> Module Specific >> Digital Input >> “Digital Line Input – cRIO.lvproj.”

  • HFM Performance

    Hi all,
Does anyone have any recommendations/best practice type information for improving HFM S9 performance?
    Version 9.2.0.3
    Windows 2003 SP2
1 server - Core Services / Shared Services / License Server
    3 servers - HFM/FDM web behind a load balancer
5 servers - HFM app cluster
    2 servers - FDM/MDM/HAL
3 servers - BI+ webapp (weblogic 8.14) behind load balancer
    3 servers - BI+ reporting/print/web analysis
    DB: SQL 2000 SP4 2 node active/passive cluster (MSCS)
    2000+ users
    400-500 concurrent
Some of the things that we currently do are
-making sure that the HFM error log files aren't too large
-truncate the HFM error log table from the database when it gets large
-reboot our environment on a weekly basis
One of our major issues is HFM becoming sluggish while performing our application maintenance. While multiple consolidations are running all HFM App server CPUs are at 100% (20 cpus) though when consolidations begin to stop and CPU utilization falls off it appears that the HFM app servers are still sluggish until they are rebooted. Also during quarter close when system usage is heavy there are general complaints that the system is slow/sluggish.
Something I'd like more information on is the task audit and data audit database tables. Ours are quite large (10 million+ rows) I know that these should be cleared out periodically from within HFM but we are trying to figure out the best way to do that and still keep the historical data.
Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Eugene

    Eugene,
    I suggest two elements...
1/ get a review of your infratstructure - this, with very detailed information on your network, application, utilizasion and more has been done by many Hyperion clients using Triometric.
2/ think about your processes. Should you automate standard routines (ie consolidate/translate; process management; log management; 'dead' sessions) and more. Have a look at http://www.epmmaestro.com and see a tool that is helping many HFM clients resolve issues just like you are experiencing, while at the same time creating efficiency and saving hours of admin time.
Let me know if you want more info.

  • Dynamic Column choices Analyzer 72 with HFM

Does anyone know how to setup a tabbed report group to show three different generations of the Period dimension in HFM? I would like to have a set of three radio buttons that let the user choose whether they would like to see 12 monthly columns, 4 quarterly columns or 1 yearly column. When I set it up in Analyzer now I get a "missing row tuples" error when I try to choose anything but the lowest level of the dimension.Thank you,Alex

I have the same problem. However, I was able to do a hide rows that have n/a which is good for TY (this year), however LY still remains Because there is data for all weeks for LY. Is there a way to hide the LY without manually going in and hiding it? I currently have it set up where all my weeks for the entire Year are put into the query but it only displays if data is available. I am able to make it work if I put Location above TY & LY and put the rule focused on Location "n/a". However this limits how I can display the data. Benjamin

    Hi,
The reason that you are getting the error is the PFI lines are being reserved twice. You don't need the DAQmx Connect Terms functions in your code because the DAQmx driver does this for you automatically. If you still receive an error after doing this, try to changing the low frequency counter number.  I hope this helps you with your application.

  • Period 13, How to utilize?

    Hi,
does anyone utilize a period 13, and if so how. Specifically, Can it be utilized to adjust BS and RE for prior period, and How? Thanks for the input!
    Edited by: user10705741 on Jun 10, 2009 4:49 AM

we have 13 periods in our GL but not HFM. We require the feed to add periods 12 and 13 together before it gets to HFM. The GL users can still adjust the year with the 13th period, but to HFM users it does not matter.

I need to measure a signal of a speed/position sensor. This sensor works with hall effect principle and is placed in front of a wheel with some teethes. Is used for automotive purpose in CAM and CRANKSHAFT applications. So, I need to measure period, duty cycle, rise time, fall time, Vpp, Angles for each teeth x encoder, everything from 40 to 7500 rpm.
I'm using CH0 to measure a signal of this speed/position sensor.
I'm using CH1 to measure a signal of an encoder connected to wheel.

I need to measure the frequency of EXT trigger to know the instantly speed of the wheel.
So, If I know that my encoder has 2048 pulse/rev, I can measure FFT_FREQUENCY of CH1 with scalar measurement functions and calculate the speed !
The NI-Scope is wonderful because it can measure a lot of things automatic and fast, like period, frequency, duty cycle, rise/fall times ...
Now I have one more question:
I want to use 10:1 attenuation but I can't use a common probe. I want to connect the CH0 to sensor with a special connector.
I've tried to make the same circuit with 9MOhms and capacitor like explained on site, but I reached bad results. The industrial probes has special characteristics for capacitance and noise rejection.
Do you know how can I solve it ?

I want information about how the logs are maintained in OBIEE11g.
With OBIEE 10g, most developers knew where to look for the log files which hopefully provided the information necessary to solve a problem.  What about with 11g?  Where are they and how can they be accessed?
You can check the different log files in the Oracle Business Intelligence (OBIEE).  The right way to check them is using the Enterprise Manager (EM) Console page.
EM Console. Login to the URL http://server.domain:7001/em and navigate to:
    Farm_bifoundation_domain-> Business Intelligence-> coreapplications-> Dagnostics-> Log Messages
You will find the available files:
    Presentation Services Log
    Server Log
    Scheduler Log
    JavaHost Log
    Cluster Controller Log
    Action Services Log
    Security Services Log
    Administrator Services Log
However, you can also review them directly on the hard disk.
The log files for OBIEE components are under <OBIEE_HOME>/instances/instance1/diagnostics/logs.  Specific log files and their location is defined in the following table:

  • Counter input problem

hi, i'm using a counter input to count the falling edges of a digital pulse. I need to convert this into a time based measurement (period/frequency), but am having a litle trouble doing this. If any one can help? i'd prefer it if it were as simple as possible, i.e. no fancy programming as I'm new to LabVIEW and would like to fully understand what i'm looking at!
    Many thanks in advance!
    tom

    Hi
What version of LabVIEW are you using? If you're programming with version 7.0 or higher you can configure your counter for period or frequency measurements quite easily using the DAQ Assistant.
Just drop down the DAQ Assistant Express VI. The Wizard that opens will ask you to choose your input type. Choose Counter Input and it list options for Edge Counting, Frequency and Period Measurement. Choose the one you want then choose the counter with which to do the measurement. When you click Finish a configuration dialog box will open up for you to configure the Input Range, the Task Timing, etc. There will also be some further information in the help section along the right of the window. When you click OK the DAQ Assistant will build your code.
I've attached a Zip file with 2 labview programs to demonstrate this. (They're written in version 8). Connect DIO 0 to PFI 9 of your DAQ card (I'm using an M Series card. If you're using a different card let me know). Extract and run both files. The Digital Output VI generates an alternating high and low signal for each iteration of the loop. The Counter Frequency Measurement VI measures the frequency of this output. The frequency is determined my the Wait Until Next ms Multiple function so change the input to that to vary the frequency.
Let me know how you get on with that and if you require more info.
    Good luck!

  • Daily Monitoring of PRD of BI, XI, ECC, through Solution manager

    Dear all ,
I have only configured Earlywatch alert for BI , ECC 6.0 on Solman(every week monday i got EWA report and  I have taken action as per the EWA report).
    Now my question are ,
Daily Monitoring of PRD of BI, XI, and ECC is possible ?
Weekly Monitoring of DEV & QAS of BI, XI, ECC, ?
EWA for XI is possible ?
Finally how can i completely use Solman server for monitoring ,etc....
    Kindly advise
    Regards

    Hello,
Daily Monitoring of PRD of BI, XI, and ECC is possible ?
Of course possible, what kind of monitoring are you looking for?
Using the System administration functionality you can perform the pro-active monitoring, which will also trigger auto reaction methods whenever the thresholds are reached, as per the setup performed.
There are SAP standard parameter monitoring available, in addition you can define your own parameters to be monitored in the System administration workcenter functionality.
Weekly Monitoring of DEV & QAS of BI, XI, ECC, ?
You can use the central system monitoring functionality which enables you to perform monitoring tasks as per the period/frequency specified.
You can also input your/teams monitoring notes/observations and generate it as a separate report.
EWA for XI is possible ?
It is possible; for ABAP stack, perform the same steps as you performed for other ABAP (ECC) systems, for Java stack of XI, configure the Solution Manager Diagnostics which will trigger the EWA for Java part. Finally you receive a consolidated (ABAP+Java) EWA next Monday.
Finally how can i completely use Solman server for monitoring ,etc....
EWA, SLR provide you with a reporting functionality which again is a result of monitoring your system over the previous week.
Using System administration and Central system monitoring you can leverage the monitoring capabilities.
Using SMD, Wily you can extend the monitoring of Java and dual stack systems
Using BPMon you can attain the Business process monitoring.
In addition, in the work center you can see additional monitoring options, like. RFC monitoring.
    Hope this helps.

  • INSERT Script stored as "SQL Statement Script" not firing on Oracle Alert

We are using Alert Manager to run Alerts based on absence information in EBS R12.1.3 HR tables.
    Application: Human Resources
    Period/Event: Periodic
    Frequency: Every Day
    The Alert has 2 actions.
One is to email a supervisor based on the Alert SQL finding staff who have had x number of absences over a set period of time.
    That is working fine.
The other action is defined as an "SQL Statement Script".
The SQL script inserts the variables defined in the SQL from the main Alert definition SQL, into a custom table.
When the Alert fires, we are getting the email generated, but the INSERT statement isn't firing.
However, when we look at the result of the Alert when it has run, and look at the steps which were fired, we can see the email step and the SQL step. When we look at the SQL in the SQL step which was generated, we can copy and paste it direct into TOAD and it works fine.
We have tried a simple SQL INSERT statement which even just does:
    INSERT INTO xx_tmp (VALUE1_DATE, VALUE2) VALUES (SYSDATE, 'this');
But even that does not work.
We wonder if the issue is that we cannot do a direct INSERT from an alert type of "SQL Statement Script"?
We have found another Alert which does a direct UPDATE on a table, but the SQL Statement Script definition has "Purchasing" as the Application, because it's updating a PO table.
In our case, we're trying to insert into a custom table held in our in-house XX schema.
Could the problem be that we don't have the "Application" set? If that's the case, we don't have a corresponding application anyway.
Or can we not do a direct INSERT like this - do we need to use a package instead, and call that?
    Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Brian,
Alert issue - Custom SQL fix
    1. Define actions via "Actions" button on Alert Definition
    2. Create an action for e.g. "Send Message to Supervisor"
       Action type: message
Action - sends email to people
    3. Create another action called e.g. "Insert Record"
       Action type: SQL Statement Script
Fill in SQL in the "Text" section, no need to add a begin or end bit, just a simple INSERT INTO X etc ending with a semi colon
    4. Back on the main alert definition window, go to "Action Sets" button
Here, need one SEQ for the Message / Email (e.g. Seq 1), and then click on "Action Set Details" and click on "Members" tab and select the "Send Message to Supervisor" Action
Then close the "Action Set Details" window, and return to the "Action Sets" window
click into 2nd line, add e.g. Seq 2, and call it e.g. "Insert Record", click on "Action Set Details" > Members tab and select the "Insert Record" The problem was that in the first instance, we had a single Action Set, and under "Members" had selected the "Send Message to Supervisor" and "Insert Record" at the same time.
Short answer: each Action needs to be defined as a separate line in the Action Sets definition.
I can send screenshots if you need them, and don't mind putting your email address on this forum.
You can always edit the thread after I've emailed you, to remove your email address.
