Perl script to delete attributes with space value

Hi,
We are using Iplanet Ldap Directory server on hp-UX 11i.
I have a problem here with the attribute values.There is a space (a blank space) for few attributes across the directory server.
They seem to be normal when lokked through the ldap console. But when retrieving data through ldapsearch utility they appear as Junk character.
The only solution for this may be find and delete those attributes and add new one's.
eg: telephoneNumber :: RASWD== ( when the attribute has one space value,nothing else)
My issue is iam not able to trace the attributes through perl ldap scripts.
If anyone can help me out with a script it would be great.There are few thousand employees data appear corrupted.
Thanks in advance.

This is how SunOne avoids storing lots of extra spaces (and thus using disk/memory) It base 64 encodes the entries. I believe you can use the -B flag to ldapsearch to display the entry as it really appears not encoded.
If you really wanted to ideantify them I would write a perl script to locate attribute:: in a db2ldif of the install.
That would at least tell you which ones have the issue with spaces

    Hello experts,
    how can I delet rows with missing values in a specific field in the start routine of update rules?
    I think ABAP code should look something like this:
    delete ...  from DATA_PACKAGE where Z_NO = ''.
    thanks in advance for any suggestions!

    Write:
    delete data_package where field = value.

  • Does Endeca Integrator Loads Attribute with Null value?

    I have a table in DB , with a column , lets say, supply_id. This is null for all rows.
    When i load data from this table using clover ETL graph and lets say source this data to another table , will my final table will have a column as supply_id?
    Or will this column will get dumped.
    I discussed on clover etl forum, it seems this column will be picked. However, when we use EID Intgrator the column is getting dropped always..
    I tried a sample graph passing an attribute having null value and having property nullable=true. But still it was dropped.
    I posted same question on clover etl forum long back. They explained its not something out of the box from Clover but a change Oracle EID made to the engine.
    http://forum.cloveretl.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6508
    Could you please confirm if this is expected behavior and if so , is there any workaround?

    Yes, if an attribute doesn't contain any values that attribute doesn't exist in the Endeca Server. Why do you want an attribute that doesn't contain values?

  • Report script - using substitution variable with multiple values

    Hi All,
    Substitution variable with multiple values is not working correctly with Report scripts. Can you please let me know what is the syntax to assign multiple values to a sub variable using maxl:
    alter database samp.samp set variable 'ExtractQuarter' 'Q1,Q2,Q3,Q4';
    alter database Samp.Samp set variable 'ExtractQuarter' 'Q1:Q4';
    I tried both of the above but they are errored out with the below error:
    Error: 1001005 - Unknown Member [Q1:Q4] in Report.
    my requirement is different for both Actual and forecast data extract so i would like to make use of this variable to extract whole year data for Forecast and current quarter data for Actual with out duplicating the report scripts for both processes.

  • Delete attribute with objectclass=nstombstone

    Hello,
    I changed the replcation ID of one server in a three-way multimaster configuration, and found that the original value of the ruv is still exists in the search result of objectclass=nstombstone. That is there should be value of the replica ID of the three servers but now there are four value instead of three and I found the old value is not delete change the replica ID. Therefore I tried to delete this extra attribute, but it fails. Does it because of the objectclass=nstombstone? and could I delete such value?
    Thanks in advanced.
    Best regards,
    PH

    you can delete them but ONLY if you have replication disabled. i have a script that will clean up those things. at some point sun told me that all those unused ruvs could cause problems...i think they were taking a stab in the dark and cleaning them up never solved anything...only going to 5.2 with hotfix did. of course you could export, delete the ruv entries, and import...if u have a small db that might be the easiest thing.

  • Macro/VBA script to merge rows with same values in another column

    Hi.
    I'm developing a dance competition application, using Excel 2010, and have so far managed to put judges' marked scores into a worksheet through a userform.
    Now I would like to make the worksheet more presentable as a scoreboard, as you would manually, but via VBA scripts.
    Exhibit Numbers (Column G) are unique identifiers (per competition) for contestants and each contestant is typically judged by three judges.  The scores in three separate categories from one judge would spread in one row so each contestant would have three
    rows.
    I would like to merge rows of columns where the totals from the judges go (Columns P to U) for each contestant.
    I've considered using some kind of loop but I don't have enough experience in vba scripting, it gets overcomplicated. Could someone please help?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
    You cannot add a static "Y" inside a when looping over "i". You need to ensure that "Y" changes along with X. Try the modified code below.
    List elements = new ArrayList();
    for (int i=0; i<XXX; i++) {
    IZZZ.IVisibilityElement el = wdContext.createVisibilityElement();
    el.setVisAttr(i); // Change Y to i
    elements.add(el);
    wdContext.nodeVisibility().bind(elements);
    That should give you an idea of what is erroneous in the code.
    Thanks.
    HTH.

  • ELM: deleting attribute value

    Hello,
    I have an attribute with multipe value options, i.e.
    Attribute name: Subscriptions
    Values:
    A01 - Newsletter
    A02 - Magazine
    A03 - Special Offers
    A04 - Tradefair Invitations
    With ELM, I am able to flag multiple values for this attribute.
    However, I am not able to UNFLAG (deselect) the values with ELM.
    (I tried ' ' , which works for updating Business Partners, but then I get the message that ' '  is not an allowed value for this field).
    Does anyone have a clue how to do this?

  • Rman/PERL scripts errors

    I am trying to automate the backups and disk maintenence on a test machine using a "Host Command" in the 10g EM environment. If I run the script from the command on the target host the scripts completes successfully.
    This is the script:

    Is anyone having this problem in 10g and if so , can you provide me with some insight with respect to resolution?

    The .sh script calls a perl script that parses the output of the report obsolete command in rman and deletes the obsolete datasets from disk. This shell completes from the command line with no errors. Here is the .sh and the perl script. Like I said the odd thing is that this shell executes successfully from the command line. Thanks for your interest in looking at this.

    # NAME
    # rmanc.pl - delete obsolete backups and copies
    # DESCRIPTION
    # This perl script automates deletion of obsolete datafilecopies and
    # backup pieces. It uses perl strin manipulation to process the output of the RMAN
    # "report obsolete" command and creates rm commands to delete the files
    # NOTES
    # Some customization is necessary.
    # Adapted from Oracle 8i rman1.sh Unix shell script.
    # benmalek 03/08/2003 - Modified to delete backup sets and datafilecopies only
    # Does not touch backup records.

  • How to launching a perl script by the "begin" script of a jumpstart

    Hi all,
    i have an urgent pb with my solaris jumpstart, let me explain to you :
    i want that the begin script launch some perl script, but i have a problem
    here is my "begin" script:
    echo "Begining ISO FLAR based jumpstart."
    echo ""
    echo "Starting Ullink Configuration"
    env > /tmp/env
    /bin/sh << EOF
    /usr/bin/perl /cdrom/.archives/admin-scripts/sethostname.pl
    EOFmy perl script use a STDIN
    with this configuration, the perl script is launching but it runs in a loop indefinitely with an error "use of uninitialized value", because (i think) a value is return to the begin scritp and not to the perl script.
    well, on a pre-installed solaris, if a launch the begin script, it happens the same thing, it runs in a loop, BUT if i comment the line "/bin/sh <<EOF" and "EOF", it works.
    at this step, i say "ok it's cool my script is working", but when i use it during the jumpstart instalaltion, the perl script does not start, without any particular error.

    You can try the following command and check if any helps:
    Get-Exchangeserver |where-object{$_.AdminDisplayVersion -like "Version 15*"} |Get-MailboxStatistics | Ft -auto -wrap DisplayName,database,servername,*size*,*time*

  • Runtime.exec("Perl Script writing and reading on I/O"), handling Streams

    Hi all !!
    In a first place : sorry for my english if it's not really understandable but I try to do as good as possible !
    I'm writing a GUI with Swing that will allow (in one of my multiple tables) the user to run a Perl Script.
    This Perl Script ask the user to choose a Folder ... then read all the files in this folder and for each file (xml File), extract the datas and put them in a database. But when a file that has to be inserted in the database contains this line : <Template_Used name="ST1.mtt"> and if the Template table in my database doesn't have the "ST1.mtt" stored ... the Perl Script ask to the user to give him the path of the file "ST1.mtt" so that the script can put the "ST1.mtt template" datas in the database.
    This script runs well when it is from a windows console.
    But I need a graphic interface !!!
    So I created a JButton "Process a folder".
    When the button is pressed, a JFileChooser appears and ask the user which Folder has to be processed.
    Then a Process is created with the command : ("cmd.exe /C \"C:\\Program Files\\Fluke\\Ansur\\ProcessFolder.bat\").
    The BatFile :
    {code}cd C:\Documents and Settings\tsd\Desktop\Gael-Project\Project_Files
    perl Process.pl
    exit{code}
    At this moment everything is working well.
    But my Process.pl (which is 300 lines long ... and that you don't even want to hear about), ask in a first time the Path of the folder to process and sometimes ask the path to a file (a template file).
    So I need to read and wirte on the STDIN/STDOUT during the exec of the Process.
    In order to handle this I created two different threads : one reading the Process.getInputStream with a BufferedReader and one other writing on the Process.getOutputStream with a PrintWrinter.
    What I need to do is :
    When I read a line from the InputStream saying "I need the path of the ST1.mtt file", I should run a JFileChooser ... the user find the file in the computer ... and I write in the OutputStream the path of the file, so that my Perl Script doesn't have un Unitialised value on <STDIN> and can continue to process !!
    I'm pretty sure it's possible ... because at the moment I just used a trick :
    When the user push the "process a folder" button, I write the paths in the OutputStream before than the script needs it and it works !
    But I need to write in the OutputStream only when it is time !!!
    Any idea ??
    Here are some parts of my code :
    {code}
    String filename = File.separator+"tmp";
              JFileChooser fc = new JFileChooser(new File(filename));
              fc.setFileSelectionMode(JFileChooser.DIRECTORIES_ONLY );
              // Show open dialog; this method does not return until the dialog is closed
         fc.showOpenDialog(null);
         Folder = fc.getSelectedFile();
              new GoodExec(cmd);
    {code}
    {code}
    public class GoodExec {
         public static Process proc;
         public static StreamGobbler errorGobbler;
         public static StreamGobbler inputGobbler;
         public static StreamGobbler outputGobbler;
         public GoodExec(String cmd)
         try
                   Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
              proc = rt.exec(cmd);
         // any error message?
         errorGobbler = new
         StreamGobbler(proc.getErrorStream(), "ERROR");
         // any input?
         inputGobbler = new
         StreamGobbler(proc.getInputStream(), "INPUT");
         // any output?
              outputGobbler = new
              StreamGobbler(proc.getOutputStream(), "OUTPUT");
         // kick them off
         errorGobbler.start();
         inputGobbler.start();
         outputGobbler.start();
         // any error???
         int exitVal = proc.waitFor();
         System.out.println("ExitValue: " + exitVal);
         } catch (Throwable t)
         t.printStackTrace();
    {code}
    {code}
    public class StreamGobbler implements Runnable
    InputStream is;
    OutputStream os;
    String type;
    Thread thread;
    public static String chaine;
    StreamGobbler(InputStream is, String type)
    this.is = is;
    this.os=null;
    this.type = type;
    StreamGobbler(OutputStream os, String type)
    this.os = os;
    this.is=null;
    this.type = type;
    public void start () {
         thread = new Thread(this);
         thread.start ();
    public void run()
    try
    if (is == null){
         PrintWriter toProgram = new PrintWriter(os);
         File FolderToProcess = ProcessFolder.Folder;
    String Folder = FolderToProcess.getPath();
    toProgram.write(Folder);
    toProgram.close();
    else {
         if (os == null){
         InputStreamReader isr = new InputStreamReader(is);
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(isr);
    String line=null;
    String comp = "Please enter the exact path of the directory that contains the files you want to process.";
    while ( (line = br.readLine()) != null){
         if (type.equals("INPUT")){
              chaine+=line+"\n";
         if (line.equals(comp)) {
              System.out.println("give directory");RUN A JFILECHOOSER AND GIVE THE DIRECTORY TO THE OUTPUTSTREAM
    System.out.println(type + ">" + line);
    is.close ();
    catch (IOException ioe){
         ioe.printStackTrace();
    {code}
    And here is an example of a simple perl script that could be used (it s a simple one !!) :
    {code}
    #!/usr/bin/perl -w
    use strict;
    print "Please enter the exact path of the directory that contains the files you want to process.\n";
    my $dir= <STDIN>;
    chomp ($dir);
    print "titallala $dir";
    if (the template of the file is not in the database){
    print "Please give me the template so that I can put it in the database";
    $dir= <STDIN>;
    chomp ($dir);
    {code}
    Thank you for your help ... if it's possible to help me !!
    Gael

    BalusC -- The line that gives me my NullPointerException is when I call the "DisplayProduct()" method. Its a dumb question, but with NetBeans how do I find out which reference could be null? I'm not very familiar with how NetBeans works with finding out how to debug. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.The IDE is com-plete-ly irrelevant. It's all about the source code.
    Do you understand anyway when and why a NullPointerException is been thrown? It is a subclass of RuntimeException and those kind of exceptions are very trival and generally indicate an design/logic/thinking fault in your code.
    SomeObject someObject = null; // The someObject reference is null.
    someObject.doSomething(); // Invoking a reference which is null would throw NPE.

  • Is there any possibility running a Perl Script in JSP?

    Is there any possibility running a Perl script in JSP and get the value of the JSP variable? The JSP page is running in TOMCAT 5.0 server.

    i am created one script .... i want to replace it the older one ... it is possible in development server ..... is there any possibility to assingn the form in quality server ?????
    is there any other way to assign the form to transaction with out using NACE?.
    Well regarding you question about the system to have it assigned, ideally you need to assign it in development and mopve it up stacks. However, i aint sure of the roles you are assigned with for doing any config changes in QS. and the config needs to be done through NACE. Following is the process.
    You need to first find the Output type and the standard form attached to the existing program/ tcode. This info can be fetcehd from TNAPR table. Once you have got the details, you can then get into NACE tcode to configure your new custom form instaed of the existing Standard one. Get the application type, output type from TNAPR table. Then select the particular outpput type in NACE nad click on processing routine. This is the place where the new form name needs to be updated.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers!

  • Problem in running Perl script through oracle

    Hi,
    I am facing one problem in perl script.
    " I have one perl script which is interact with sybase database.We have migrated the sybase database to oracle successfully.Now i wanna to change the perl script to interact with oracle database.
    I am using the code like that for interacting the oracle database
    Old Code with sybase database : use DBI::Sybase::GFAS;
    New code with oracle database : Use DBI::oracle::GFAS;
    When i am running the perl script,Its showing the below mentioned error:
    Can't locate DBI/oracle.pm in @INC (@INC contains: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1
    \perl\5.8.3\lib\MSWin32-x86 C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\perl\5.8.3\lib/MSWin32

    \sysman\admin\scripts C:/Perl/lib C:/Perl/site/lib .) at hello.pl line 4.
    BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at hello.pl line 4.
    Anyone have any idea about this error.
    Thx in advance.

    If you look in the oracle home in the perl\site\5.8.3\lib\MSWin32-x86-multi-thread directory you will see two directories. Once is DBI and one is DBD.
    All you need in your perl program is a line 'use DBI'. It will use DBD automatically as and when required. You can specify the necessary connection information when you issue the DBI->connect statement.
    I have successfully managed to connect to Oracle databases and perform DML using the software installed by default. You don't need to download and install anything else.
    I'm no perl expert so maybe some functionality is missing using the interfaces provided by Oracle but for my needs it has sufficed.
    Hope this helps.

  • JSP execute a Perl script

    I want to call a Perl script from my JSP page, but how if I want to return some values from the Perl script back to the JSP page?

    Well let's say you were calling the perl script from another perl script, how would you "return" the values? Normally this is done by doing form submits or using url parameters.

  • AD user script to populate the IPPHONE attribute with the last 4 digits of the Telephonenumber attribute

    Good Afternoon Scripting Guys. I have a script that I have been working with pretty much all day today and just cant quite get it to play nice. Our objective is to search AD for specific users (say filtering them out with a username that starts with a "T")
    and User account is "Enabled" then grab the last four digits of their phone number (phone number is set up as follows: (800) 123 456 ) then populate the IPPHONE attribute with the last four digits of their phone number. I have read a ton of online
    blogs with users successfully making this happen but it appears that they are all using Quest (as the commands are all Get-qaduser and Set-qaduser). I need something that runs strictly in native Active Directory Module PowerShell on a Windows Server 2008r2
    Domain Controller.  I am also trying to keep it as simple as possible by using a Get command, then piping a Set command.  I have saved the script into a .ps1 file with the logic as follows:
    $SelUsers = Get-ADUser -filter {(SamAccountName -like "t*")} -Properties ipphone,telephonenumber -searchbase "OU=Test Users,OU=Temporary Org,OU=Test_Domain Users,DC=mydomain,DC=com" | where {($_.enabled -eq $True)}
    foreach ($user in $SelUsers)
     {$user.ipphone = $user.telephonenumber(4,$User.telephonenumber.length-4)
     set-aduser -instance $user}
    What is happening is kind of funny, but aggravating at the same time.  When we run the script, it completes with no errors.  When I pull up the properties of a user in the OU, the IP Phone field is populated with the number 8.  If the User
    account did not have a telephone number, the IP Phone field is populated with a -4.  So, apparently, the script is somehow subtracting the "-4" from the number of all of the Telephone Number field's characters.  Basically 12-4 is 8.
    If there is no telephone number, then 0-4 is -4.  I have run the Get-ADUser portion of the script independently so I know its getting the correct users.  I also know it is populating the IPPHONE attribute but not with the last 4 digits of the telephone
    number.  Can you guys help out and maybe get this to work correctly?  Also, can you add logic to it to the script to delete any value in the IPPHONE field first, then replace it with the last 4 digits of the telephone.
    Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!!  Thanks Guys...
    Lee

    First thing I would do is modify your filtering. This will remove the unneeded piping to the Where-Object cmdlet and also allow us to only return users who already have something in the telephoneNumber field. It is possible this could return all of your
    users, but if you have service accounts, etc. that do not have a telephoneNumber then they will not be included in your results. It's just a little cleaner.
    $SelUsers = Get-ADUser -filter {(SamAccountName -like 't*' -and Enabled -eq $True -and TelephoneNumber -like '*')}
    I suspect you may have a made a mistake when you entered what your phone numbers looks like. I assume that you forgot a final digit. If this is correct, and you have a space in the phone number between the three digits and the final four then you can use
    the split method to grab the last four digits.
    Foreach ($User in $SelUsers) {
    $Number = $User.telephoneNumber.split(' ')[-1]
    Set-ADUser -Identity $User -Replace @{ipPhone=$Number}
    There's no reason to delete what's in the field first because that's part of what the -Replace parameter will do anyway. This should help get you started!
