Persistence 1:n

Hey there,
does anybody has an example of how to implement an 1:n relationship.
lets say i got one car with an unknown number of wheels.
in java i would put them into a vector, how do i handle this using the persistence api.
can i handle this by using setMultipleLink() instead of setSingleLink?
Philipp

Hi Philipp,
    The structure of P_CLASS_CAR and P_CLASS_LICENSE looks fine for the 1:n relation you are looking at.
    The setLicense in the car class now has something like:
                      obj.setSingleLink(0, (PersistableEntity) license);
    This means that the 0th posistion has the license objects and since it is a single link, you just put the license object there.
     But if you have multi linked object then the 0th position will have multiple license objects within itself and you need to specify which position will each license go. So inside your for loop, it will be something like this:
for(int i = 0; i < licences.size(); i++)
     obj.setMultipleLink(0, i, (PersistableEntity) license)
Now in the 0th link element of the car object we have a pool of multi linked license objects. And within each link inside this 0th link, we have the specific license objects.
Best Regards,

  • Mid 2014 13" rMBP - Image Persistence

    Good Morning,
    Last night I came across an image persistence issue that seems to plague most rMBP users that have been supplied with an LG Panel.
    I'd like to confirm that this issue is still present in Apple's most recent iteration of the Macbook Pro (Mid 2014). I purchased this 13" rMBP just under a month ago, I was hoping to improve my productivity with this purchase only to find it has hindered it further. I work with illustrator and photoshop, sometimes both at the same time. I've noticed switching between applications that there seems to be a faint silhouette of the illustrator window. When I first noticed this issue I told myself "There's no way that's burn-in, this is clearly not a plasma display and it's 2014" After a prompt restart, the faint silhouette was still there and all I could feel was frustration and complete regret after making such an expensive purchase. The feeling I had at the Apple store was similar to when I purchased my Canon 5D, you save up all this money and expect a premium product. Only this time around, I'm not quite as joyful about my purchase. The faint silhouette overlays my photos, and can be a problematic during post production. Although the silhouette may only be visible for minutes at a time before it completely disappears, this has caused me to walk away from my Mac. Which is something I have been trying to avoid, and it was working until last night.
    My question is, has LG made any changes to their most recent production of Retina displays?
    Do 13" rMBPs come with Samsung displays?
    What are my options outside of the 14-day return window?
    I'd like to avoid repair, one time I brought in my iPad and the genius was practically sliding and dropping my iPad on the genius bar. I know that Apple tries to set the bar when it comes to personal computing, and in some cases customer service. So, is it wrong of me to expect quality from a premium manufacturer?
    Thank you.

    No, I did not misread, it died in 4 hours and 20 mins.
    That sounds better. You confused me with:
    ...only 4:49 minutes remaining.
    My science-major mind saw that as 4 minutes 49 seconds.
    Still, you should get more runtime. Here is another Apple article that helps with battery life and heating issues:
    Runaway applications can shorten battery runtime, affect performance, and increase heat and fan activity - Apple Support
    The article was written before OS 10.9 and 10.10, so you need to make a change in Step 3 for 10.10. To make the required change from "My Processes" to All Processes," you now need to use Activity Monitor's "View" menu:
    Another thing that is not clear in the article is that you will not get good results if you run the test immediately after a restart. Use the computer normally for about a day so that any runaway processes are activated, quit any apps you launched, then run the test.

  • Problem with persistence in Generic Sync application

    Hi:
    We are developing an application which runson SAP Mi 2.5, SP 18,
    Windows Mobile 5.0 and Generic Sync for PDAs.
    We need persistence in our application. We tried with persistence API but
    we found a problem and we send a message to SAP. Until we can solve
    this issue we must implement persistence in other way to satisfy our customer requierements
    Since now,we have implemented persistence with files but the performance of this solution does not meet our customer requirements (the search of data in the PDA is very slow).
    We are thinking in another solution, which consists on using
    Syncbos.Using this alternative, before making a generic sync, and
    executing the code shown below:
    SmartSyncRuntime.getInstance().getSyncBoDescriptorFacade
    ().getAllSyncBoDescriptors()
    the returned syncBOS are those which I have defined in XML. On the
    contrary, after making a generic sync, executing the same code, the
    returned syncbos ARE NOT those whic I have defined in XML. The only
    return that I get is the MIAUTH.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks
    Kind Regards

    hi satur,
    there are some things to take care if you want to use the persistence layer of the
    SmartSync layer from your GenericSync app.
    first, you have to let the MI client think that your application is using the
    SmartSync functionality. this can be achieved by just including a dummy metadata
    meRepMeta.xml file in the war archive during the deployment process. once the
    MI client framework sees this during the installation, it will set a flag on the MSD
    that your app is a smartsync.
    second, if your app is considered a smartsync, MI will generate the delta request
    and upload messages for your data if ever you have your SyncBo defined in the
    metadata. Since you don't want such functionalities to be ON, i would suggest to
    mark all your SyncBo as local ones; i.e. using attributes suppressDownload=true
    and suppressUpload=true. this way, the MI framework will skip creating the requests
    and delta upload messages for your app during the synchronization process.
    third, your application has to have the syncEventListener implementation to get
    notification when the Sync button (or event) was initiated. if you don't want your
    app to be notified, you may just add synchronization button within your application
    that will call your data manager to prepare your containers (i.e. retrieving the newly
    inserted syncbo, modified syncbos and the list of deleted ones -> genericSync
    containers) and to call the synchronizeWithBackend method.
    fourth, you need to have the inboundProcessor that will parse your data and insert
    them a SyncBo into your local database.
    having tried this but i guess it might work...
    regards
    jo

    hmmm what was the usecase ...
    was it after deployment, or just after new installation? this looks like a defect on loading side .. other axis stuff running around?
    at least it's good to hear that you are up & running now :-)

  • Persistence-rebalance is not working after adding new cotexts

    Hi,
    I had the following problem.
    The customer has two ACE20 modules. These modules are configured with some contexts. These contexts are configured and working. Last week I created and configured new three contexts without modifying current contexts. After this change, the customer had a problem with cookie insertion in the one of the current cotext. There was no configuration change (the persistence-rebalance map was configured and assigned to the policy-map) in this context. Only one solution of this problem was removing and adding again the parameter map into policy map. After this change the cookie insertion is working well. So it seems like a bug, but I didn't find it in the bug toolkit. Is this behaviour correct?
    Thanks

    I have noticed that the persistence.xml file have changed quite drastically from the version we had in TP4 release during project upgrade, but can not explain the problem we are getting. I have also tried to just create a dummy project and create a persistence unit, and the file looks exactly the same afterwards. Any thoughts?
    Drikus

    Just thought I would add a temporary solution to the problem for those of you sitting with the same issue.
    In the root folder of your application you will find a src folder with a meta-inf folder and weblogic-application.xml inside.
    Add the following before the closing weblogic-application tag...
    <xml>
    <parser-factory>
    <saxparser-factory>
    weblogic.xml.jaxp.WebLogicSAXParserFactory
    </saxparser-factory>
    <document-builder-factory>
    weblogic.xml.jaxp.WebLogicDocumentBuilderFactory
    </document-builder-factory>
    <transformer-factory>
    weblogic.xml.jaxp.WebLogicSAXTransformerFactory
    </transformer-factory>
    </parser-factory>
    </xml>
    If there wasnt an xml tag in the file, it seems that JDeveloper somehow adds one on the fly for you pointing to an oracle xml parser that does not contain the setSchema method required by weblogic on deployment.
    Hope this helps anybody else that has this problem.

  • Generic Sync Application and Persistence DB2e

    Hi all,
    I have a generic sync application. I need persistence and so, I have created a xml file with many syncbo to manage the persistence with db2e. If I execute the statement before the synchronization:
    SmartSyncRuntime.getInstance().getSyncBoDescriptorFacade().getAllSyncBoDescriptors().size()
    the result is five (because I have five syncbo).
    But when I do a generic synchronization and I try to store data of this synchronization into syncbo, I get an exception because only there is one syncbo.
    In fact, the previous statement returns only one synbo. This syncbo is called MIAUTH and I don´t have defined it.
    How can I solve this issue? Thanks a lot.
    Regards,

    Hi all,
    I know it is better to use persistence API than syncbos in generic sync application but we have many problems with persistence API and SP versions. While SAP solve our problems we are searching any alternative.
    We use MVC and after doing generic synchronization, if the application generates a event and navigate to other jsp and in it, the application generates other event, I get all of my syncbos.
    How could I simulate it, after generic sync finishes, in the same method by code? Any ideas?
    Thanks and Regads.

  • Noob Question: Problem with Persistence in First Entity Bean

    Hey folks,
    I have started with EJB3 just recently. After reading several books on the topic I finally started programming myself. I wanted to develop a little application for getting a feeling of the technology. So what I did is to create a AppClient, which calls a Stateless Session Bean. This Stateless Bean then adds an Entity to the Database. For doing this I use Netbeans 6.5 and the integrated glassfish. The problem I am facing is, that the mapping somehow doesnt work, but I have no clue why it doesn't work. I just get an EJBException.
    I would be very thankfull if you guys could help me out of this. And don't forget this is my first ejb project - i might need a very detailed answer ... I know - noobs can be a real ....
    So here is the code of the application. I have a few methods to do some extra work there, you can ignore them, there are of no use at the moment. All that is really implemented is testConnection() and testAddCompany(). The testconnection() Methode works pretty fine, but when it comes to the testAddCompany I get into problems.
    Edit:As I found out just now, there is the possibility of Netbeans to add a Facade pattern to an Entity bean. If I use this, everythings fine and it works out to be perfect, however I am still curious, why the approach without the given classes by netbeans it doesn't work.
    public class Main {
        private EntryRemote entryPoint = null;
        public static void main(String[] args) throws NamingException {
            Main main = new Main();
            main.runApplication();
        private void runApplication()throws NamingException{
            this.getContext();
            this.testConnection();
            this.testAddCompany();
            this.testAddShipmentAddress(1);
            this.testAddBillingAddress(1);
            this.testAddEmployee(1);
            this.addBankAccount(1);
        private void getContext() throws NamingException{
            InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
            this.entryPoint = (EntryRemote) ctx.lookup("Entry#ejb.EntryRemote");
        private void testConnection()
            System.err.println("Can Bean Entry be reached: " + entryPoint.isAlive());
        private void testAddCompany(){
            Company company = new Company();
            company.setName("JavaFreaks");
            entryPoint.addCompany(company);
            System.err.println("JavaFreaks has been placed in the db");
        }Here is the Stateless Session Bean. I added the PersistenceContext, and its also mapped in the persistence.xml file, however here the trouble starts.
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    import javax.persistence.EntityManager;
    import javax.persistence.PersistenceContext;
    @Stateless(mappedName="Entry")
    public class EntryBean implements EntryRemote {
        @PersistenceContext(unitName="PersistenceUnit") private EntityManager manager;
        public boolean isAlive() {
            return true;
        public boolean addCompany(Company company) {
            manager.persist(company);
            return true;
        public boolean addShipmentAddress(long companyId) {
            return false;
        public boolean addBillingAddress(long companyId) {
            return false;
        public boolean addEmployee(long companyId) {
            return false;
        public boolean addBankAccount(long companyId) {
            return false;
    }That you guys and gals will have a complete overview of whats really going on, here is the Entity as well.
    package ejb;
    import java.io.Serializable;
    import javax.persistence.*;
    @Entity
    @Table(name="COMPANY")
    public class Company implements Serializable {
        private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;

        public void setName(String name) {

            hash += (id != null ? id.hashCode() : 0);
            return hash;

        public boolean equals(Object object) {
            // TODO: Warning - this method won't work in the case the id fields are not set
            if (!(object instanceof Company)) {
                return false;
            Company other = (Company) object;
            if ((this.id == null && other.id != null) || (this.id != null && !this.id.equals(other.id))) {
                return false;
            return true;
        @Override
        public String toString() {
            return "ejb.Company[id=" + id + "]";
    }And the persistence.xml file
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    Well I don't understand this. If Netbeans created a Stateless Session Bean as a facade then it works -and it is implemented as a CMP, not as a BMP as you suggested.
    I defenitely will try you suggestion, just for curiosity and to learn the technology, however I dont have see why BMP will work and CMP won't.
    I also don't see why a stateless bean can not be a CMP. As far as I read it should not matter. Also on the link you sent me, I can't see anything related to that.
    Maybe you can help me answering these questions.
    I hope the above lines don't sound harsh. I really appreciate your input.

  • Problem with persistence

    Hello,
    i followed this tutorial --> http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/bulldog/ejb_jpa_jsf/ejb.html
    It works on my desktop.
    I'd like to delploy this application on a weblogic server (other than my computer), but when I try, I have the following message :
    javax.ejb.EJBException: EJB Exception: ; nested exception is:
         javax.persistence.PersistenceException: Exception [EclipseLink-7060] (Eclipse Persistence Services - 1.1.1.v20090430-r4097): org.eclipse.persistence.exceptions.ValidationException

    Internal Exception: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: While trying to look up /app/jdbc/jdbc/testconnectionDS in /app/ejb/ejb1.jar#ConfigurationEJB.; remaining name '/app/jdbc/jdbc/testconnectionDS'
    If I understood, I must change the persistence.xml, but what?
    Thanks
    Yves

    Hi,
    You can create a jdbc datasource on the server, using console (Services -> JDBC -> DataSources -> New....), and specify a jndi name for it, for example jdbc/MyAppDS.
    Then, change the persistence.xml accordingly, something like:
    <jta-data-source>jdbc/MyAppDS</jta-data-source>
    <property name="javax.persistence.jtaDataSource" value="jdbc/MyAppDS"/>And, that should be it.

  • Unable to load persistence provider

    hi,
    i'm using spring context to reimplement some java methods in SOA suite.
    I have a deplyed and runnable Spring MVC project, which use hibernate to connect between database and project POJO classes. i use this spring project's java methods which are used those POJO classes and DAO classes by which we access database.
    Now i want to implement each methods in SOA suite . for that I define some spring contexts corresponding to each methods.
    i added required jar files in project class path and added persistance.xml, orm.xml and spring project's MANIFEST.MF. after that for checking, i added main() method in ech spring context's impplementation classes to check if those methods are individual running or not. but yes, they are running in JDeveloper.
    now i deploy this SOA project in weblogic enterprise manager, then test the service. its not work at all. in stacktrace i got following error/

  • Container Managed Persistence entity bean relationship fields

    I want to ask something that until now still confuse. Did Relationship fields in Container Managed Persistence entity beans declare , inside Database table or only Persistence fields .
    If Relationship fields not declare inside database table ,how if SQL calls the relationship fields between related entity bean.
    did container handle this task.
    example: I have 2 entity bean with CMP(Container Managed Persistence)version 2.0
    call Player and Team. every entity bean have own relationship fields and persistence fields.
    player has playerId(primary key),name,position,age persistence fields and teams is relationship fields.
    team has teamId(primary key),name,city and players is relationship fields.
    I know that all persistence fields is declare in own database table but how about relationship fields.
    can you tellme, How SQL calls can access relationship fields if relatiosnship fields is not declare in database table.
    I use J2EE RI SDK version 1.3
    and deploytool .
    thank's .

    thank's for your reply .Now I have another problem
    I use J2EE RI from java.sun .I try to follow example in j2eetutorial about CMP Example call RosterApp.ear .
    I dont'change anything code inside RosterApp.ear but when I deploy and runclient command thereis syntax error :
    java.rmi.ServerException: Remote exception occured in server thread :nested exception is java.rmi.ServerException :exception thrown from bean :nested exception is : java.ejb.EJBException :nested exception is :java.sql.SQLException :syntax error or access violation ,message from server: "you have an error in SQL syntax near "
    "leagueBeanTable" WHERE "leagueId" = 'L1' at line 1
    in example ,RosterApp.ear use Cloudscape database ,but I try to use Mysql database for RosterApp.ear ,is there any different syntax SQL from Cloudscape to Mysql .
    if like that ,so I must edit first SQL calls from Cloudscape to MYSQL . I think because relationship fields is for entity beans only ,so how if mysql database want to access foreign key another table because foreign key isn't declare in databse table.
    example : I have 3 entity bean call player, team, league .
    1. PlayerEJB have persistence fields name, position, playerId(primary key), cmr fields is teams
    2. TeamEJB have persistence fields name, city, teamId (primary key) , cmr fields is players and leagues .
    3. LeagueEJB have persistence fields name ,sport, leagueId(primary key), cmr fields is teams
    so table is
    PlayerEJB <--->TeamEJB<--->LeagueEJB
    Player have some finder method call findBySport(String Sport) .
    because Sport is persistence fields for LeagueEJB
    so PlayerEJB must traverse TeamEJB first before LeagueEJB
    EJB QL : SELECT distinct object(p) FROM Player (p) IN (p.teams) AS t
    WHERE t.league.sport = ?1
    I know that Container will translates EJB QL to SQL calls ,but default is only for cloudscape database and I use for MYsql .
    so can you helpme how to query method findBySport(String sport) to Mysql calls .
    thereis no foreign key between table in database table there is only Relationship fields in entity bean.

  • Server boot takes a lot of time due to JMS persistence file store

    Hi,
    We're using WebLogic 9.2 on a windows machine.
    Recently, we enhanced our application to work with JMS.
    We're using 2 JMS servers on 2 different servers in a cluster, and working with distributed destinations.
    We're using file store as our persistence store.
    Lately, we found that server boot takes a lot of time due to actions which are performed on the file-store.
    Analyzing this problem, we saw that the file size is ~2GB.
    We understand that the file size does not shrink (unless manually compacted), and its size is matching the highest number ever of pending messages in the queues (like a high water-mark).
    We also turned store debug on, using weblogic.Debug.DebugStoreIOPhysical, and we saw a lot of recovery logs after the file-store is opened.
    We've checked and verified that our JMS transactions are completed successfully. We also verified that the number of pending and current messages is 0.
    We've stopped the server gracefully, verifying there are no pending messages.
    However, server boot repeatedly takes ~30 minutes due to heavy work done on the persistence store.
    Compacting or removing the file store eliminates the delay.
    However, we want to avoid manual operations every time we want to boot the server.
    Please share your ideas.
    Thanks,
    Itsik

    The only suggestions I have off the top of my head are:
    * Ensure (1) the host system has at least 2GB (file store size) of free physical memory in addition to the memory used by current processes, and (2) the host system is not rebooted between each WebLogic restart. If you make sure of these two items, then the operating system will implicitly cache the store's file contents in memory even between boots -- when WebLogic subsequently boots the file store, the O/S should serve the file contents up much more quickly.
    * Consider moving to a JDBC store. JDBC store runtime performance is lower, but since you have a typically only have a small amount of records to recover, boot performance should be higher in this case.
    * Not that it helps your particular case, but it happens that we have boot performance enhancements in process for a future release (hopefully a near future release).

    mac book pro with Mavericks 10.9.5

    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
    For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
              SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
    from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
    In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if iTunes crashed, you would enter "iTunes" (without the quotes.)
    Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
    ☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
    Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
    ☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
              DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
    (not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
    I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
    If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
    In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
    Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Multiple persistence units and OneToMany associations

    Hi,
    I have an EAR with two persistence units and corresponding entities. Each is contained within a separate library jar file. Some of the entities in one of the jars refer to entities in the other jar. If I refer to just a single entity (i.e., a OneToOne association), everything builds and deploys with no problems, but if I use a collection (OneToMany association), I get errors when trying to deploy the project.
    I've been playing around with this for a while and have seen different errors such as the following:
    [exec] CLI171 Command deploy failed : Deploying application in domain failed; Exception [TOPLINK-28018] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0.1 (Build b04-fcs (04/11/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.EntityManagerSetupException
    [exec] Exception Description: predeploy for PersistenceUnit [GrammarUserData] failed.
    [exec] Internal Exception: Exception [TOPLINK-7155] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0.1 (Build b04-fcs (04/11/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.ValidationException
    [exec] Exception Description: The type [interface java.util.List] for the attribute [sentencePatterns] on the entity class [class com.leadingstep.grammar.configuration.CommonElementConfiguration] is not a valid type for a serialized mapping. The attribute type must implement the Serializable interface.
    I also had the collection defined as a Set and it complained about that as well. I have many other OneToMany associations used between entities within the same persistence unit that use the List interface with no problems, and so that's why I'm wondering if the problem actually comes from the fact that the entities in the failed case belong to different persistence units?
    At another point, the error message I was getting was:
    [#|2009-12-22T20:05:02.427-0500|SEVERE|sun-appserver9.1|javax.enterprise.system.tools.deployment|_ThreadID=15;_ThreadName=Thread-32;_RequestID=67ca0eee-64d9-41dc-8093-eec811cb32b6;|Exception occured in J2EEC Phase
    com.sun.enterprise.deployment.backend.IASDeploymentException: Exception [TOPLINK-28018] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0.1 (Build b04-fcs (04/11/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.EntityManagerSetupException
    Exception Description: predeploy for PersistenceUnit [GrammarUserData] failed.
    Internal Exception: Exception [TOPLINK-7250] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0.1 (Build b04-fcs (04/11/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.ValidationException
    Exception Description: [class com.leadingstep.grammar.configuration.CommonConstructorConfiguration] uses a non-entity [class com.leadingstep.grammar.db.sentences.SentenceGroup] as target entity in the relationship attribute [private java.util.List com.leadingstep.grammar.configuration.CommonConstructorConfiguration.sentenceGroups].
    The target entity it refers to here definitely has the @Entity annotation and again, is associated with other entities within the same persistence unit with no problems.
    Am I right in thinking the problem comes from the association of entities between the different persistence units? Is there something special I have to do to make this work?
    BTW, both persistence units use the <exclude-unlisted-classes> and specifically list every entity that should be included.
    Thanks for any help!
    Renee

    One other thought on this. I'm using Glassfish with Toplink and have it create the tables using:
                   <property name="toplink.ddl-generation" value="create-tables" />
    Could it be something related to the table creation in this case that's causing the problem?
