Photo Frame Question

I know that this is not an Apple Question but I haven't found a forum for this and I was curios if anyone else had run into this issue:
I have a Sylvania 10" Digital photo frame (I do not recommend this frame to anyone. Support on it is lousy to non-existant and I am still waiting for a replacement remote control for it which I ordered in March. I am using my harmony remote to control it right now.) which displays photos pretty well. It's resolution is 1024 x 600. The issue that I am seeing that I wonder if anyone else has seen on their digital photo frame, is that when I transfer photos from the mac to the photo frame and then view them with the quick view progam, the images are corrupted. Even Disk Verify shows that the jpg images are corrupted yet the photo frame has no problem displaying them. They look normal with no corruption at all. The files on my hard drive are fine with no corruption at all. Since I won't be using the frame as a backup for my photos anyway, its not an end of the world issue but I am curious if this happens with other digital photo frames. Interestingly enough, the disk utility sees the frame as having an unknown or unspecified partition with an MS-DOS Fat 32 format on it.
Thanks,
Patrick

Hello tweetybird53,
Thanks very much for purchasing the HP Digital Photo Frame.  I regret that you are having some product and support challenges.  Please email me with your HP case number or your product number, serial number and contact information so that we can get your issue resolved quickly.
The answer to the question, "Is there an HP service depot near where you live that you can take it there?" is no.  Currently, customers can not drop off products at an HP service center.  There is a process to follow that entails mailing in the product if it is coded for repair.  In some cases, the defective product is simply replaced.
I look forward to assisting tweetybird53.

  • Digital photo frame question

There is no specific thread for digital photo frames that I could see, so I'm posting here and if you want to move it, tha'ts fine...
I didn't buy this product at Best Buy, I bought it on Amazon and in retrospect I should have bought it at Best Buy. But you guys sell the same product and I have gotten some awesome help here before on other items, so I thought it might be worth asking you.
I bought a HP df1010p1 Digital Picture Frame, and after 4 months I am just getting a blank white screen on it. I've tried everything I can think of (I am tech savvy) and I can't get it to work. HP is totally giving me the run around on this even though it says in the book it has a year warranty.
I loved this frame and am wondering if it's even fixable, I would appreciate any input. It was pretty spendy and I hate to have to buy another one. It won't be an HP though, that's for sure. I was thinking of taking it apart and seeing if there was anything I could fix inside.
I have tried: different plugins, different media cards, making sure the cards work on my computer, obvuously turning it off and on a bunch of times, blowing the card slot out with air...
Any advice would be appreciated! and thanks in advance.

  • Compatible Digital Photo Frame?

I'm trying to find a digital photo frame which is reliably compatible with Mac files (i.e. iPhoto), for both photos and video. I didn't think it would be such a big deal but now that I've started researching it, I'm finding all sorts of complaints about incompatibility, especially with, for example, .mov files.
The product I'm seeking is intended to be a gift for my elderly grandmother (90 years old) so it has to be simple to use (in other words, I'm not going to get her an iPod touch-- just a simple frame, on which I can pre-load photos and videos, would be ideal.)
    Any ideas?
Thank you so much in advance, and forgive me if this question should be posted elsewhere.

Old Toad (love the name!)-- Thank you for the response, and the tip on converting the video files. I think I will try that out, and maybe take a card or thumb drive into Best Buy or Fry's and see if I can test it.
Can anyone confirm success with putting short videos (created on an Apple device, such as an iPhone) on a digital photo frame? I spent hours Googling yesterday and could find no actual testimonials of such...
Seems like a pretty basic thing that people would like to be able to do these days, with all the file/video sharing. I know most people just physically hand over a phone or other device and say, "here, look," but I'm sure I'm not the only one with elderly grandparents who never got much beyond using an electric typewriter, and when you can't be physically there to show them something on your own device or computer, there needs to be a simpler solution. I'm looking at frames because those seem to be the least intimidating for an elderly person, as they don't "feel" as much like space-age electronics.
If anyone has any other options other than a digital frame (I was even considering a small, portable DVD player that would play photos & vids burned to a disc, but that's getting sort of ridiculous), I'm open to suggestions.
    Thanks so much.

  • Best Resoltion for the 7" Digital Photo Frame

    Hello,
    I have got a
    *Digital Photo Frame II, 7"W, 720 x 480, Sensor Touch, MP3 Player-Funktion PA3637K-1ETC*
The Manual doesn't tell me about the best Resolution for the Pictures to put on.
    on the Web you can Find: 800 x 480 Pixel WVGA-Screen (720 x 480 Pixel sichtbarer Bereich)
The samples are 726x 480 pixel.
    Now my Problem:
When you put Pictures on it - *It cropps a bit on the right and left side and much more on the top and bottom.*
I have tried a lot of sizes. Even on 720 x 480 it cropps.
So my question is : What is the best Resolution for the PICs ?
    Best Regards
    Markus

    Sorry,
    check your calculator: 800:533 is NOT 1.562... Mine Says : 800:533 = 1.5009380863039399624765478424015
That is less wrong than it cut's off.
Try it: take a white pic with 800x533 and draw a black frame of 10 pixels on the border. you won't see it on all sides !
That makes 20 pixels (10 on each side) of 533 cut off ... that is more than 0.0009380863039399624765478424015 error.

  • When Photo Frame is running, iPad battery discharges

... And that surely ain't right, right?
I have a new iPad (3rd gen, 64gb model) and I sync *ALL* my photos to it. But if I place it on the dock and put the Photo Frame on, it starts to lose battery. I can see it go from 100%, down and down and down by a percentage point every 5 minutes or so. If left, it would eventually discharge completely.
I am running this iPad on an official Apple 10w charger, not something underpowered. So, the question is:
    (Or questions are)
Is this a fault (I suspect yes)
Is there something I can do to remedy this?
Any thoughts appreciated. Otherwise it might be a trip to the Apple store to see a genius (and possibly get an exchange?)

So, no further responses to this, but I have heard anecdotally that this has happened to other people.
But thinking of the logic here:
    - A function of the device is to behave like a digital photo frame.
    - A photo frame typically is left on continuously so that pictures get seen at all times
    - For pictures to be on at all times, it must be charging
    BUT
    - The retina screen needs too much power to be lit *AND* display photos, thus making a mockery of previous 3 points.
It just doesn't make sense to me. If you *know* that the device is not capable of delivering a piece of functionality like this, you disable it, or you warn against its use or you re-engineer it until it works. None of which happened.

  • Photo Frame feature in ios7?????

why has the Photo Frame feature in the lock screen disappeared in ios7?

It will almost certainly be a profile that is distributed to devices.
You probably need to sign up for Enterprise support & may need to run your own server. I'm not sure how possible it is to make your own custom profile. There are some examples around (second answer)…
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18961407/ios-7-programatically-per-app-vpn
It also links off to developer docs for the gory details.
Apple Configurator (see App Store) or Profile Manager in OS X Server can create profiles for distributing, I don't know if per app VPN is available by default in these tools.

  • Swf within digital photo frame

hi there, i hope anyone can help me with the following
    question.
i am creating digitial pictures with actionscript to display
them as swf. i am looking for a digital photo frame that is able to
display .swf files but cannot find any, only frames that can
display .avi, mpeg etc (and exporting as .avi does not help as it
will only show a blank movie because of the actionscript).
does anyone know about any product that can per default
display swf? any hint would be highly appreciated!!
    thanks,
    steffen

Did you find a Digital Photo Frame that will play swf's yet?
I am looking for one, too.
I would also like to see it support video in an swf.

  • WinXP: Resize pic for digital photo frame with PS Elements

    PS Elements 5
Preloading a small memory card for a photo frame to be given for holiday gift. Not familiar with these frames.
This Digital Photo Frame is a 16x9 aspect, 800x480 pixels.
In PS Elements, I crop each pic to 16" x 9"
Then resize photo to 800 pixel width, constraining proportions it sets the height at 450 pixels, resolution 72 pixels/in. Seems I am wasting the frame real estate.
Change the crop tool for 15" x 9"
Then resize photo to 800 pixel width, constraining proportions it sets the height at 480 pixels, resolution 72 pixels/in.
Each photo comes to ~ 400k.
    Questions:
Which above crop/resize/resolution is best? or alternate?
Will the frame make use of the 400k pics, or should I reduce quality to something less?

<[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]..<br />>I would enter 800 px by 480 px in the crop tool, lets you crop and resize <br />>in one step. • How can I solve my photo frame problem?

Thought I would give this forum a try regarding non-Apple hardware... I have a Coby DP-882 digital picture frame with a SanDisk 2GB card. After connecting the frame via USB, I get the disk reader icon on the desktop. I then just drag the photos there and it loads the frame. I can load about 50MB of digital photo jpegs (using GraphicConverter's browser) when I am prompted that the disk is full. I always make sure the card is cleared before I start and the pane tells me I've got 1.85GB available. My images are only about 500kbs each and I have a total of 400MB to load; should be no problem. I have tried an SD 256MB card to test, same result. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!

Even forum #1 Old Toad had trouble writing to a card for a photo frame. See this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4336916
You might try adding one photo at a time, like he did, and see if it will work.
You said you were doing this through Graphic Converter's browser. Is it the same result if you just use the Finder?
FWIW, I was able to copy about 587 MB of photos to a 1 GB card that already contained 176 MB. The card had been formatted in a camera (not even the same make as my own camera), and I added my pictures to the existing folder structure - to the same folder containing the other photos. It just worked. This leads to the question: How do you format the card for use in the photo frame? Could the card format have to do with the difficulty in writing to it?
Please let us know if you get an answer from the Coby support guy. You could help a lot of people with this same problem.

  • Sony DPF-D72N Digital Photo Frame

    Hi,
My digital photoframe has stopped working, no power seems to be evident, no lights....i have checked the power supply and is ok...is there a fuse somewhere?

    Hi Andy,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
Make sure that the power cord is securely connected to DC IN on rear panel and working wall outlet. Disconnect power cord from wall outlet and allow the Frame without power for a minute.
Then, reconnect power cord to a different wall outlet and try to turn ON the Photo frame.
Note: Connect power cord to direct wall outlet if it is connected to a surge protector/power strip.
Also, try turning ON the Frame by pressing POWER button on it instead of using Remote control. The standby indicator turn to green from red and Sony logo on front should light up.
If the issue persists, I suggest that you send the Photo Frame to service. You can initiate the service request from the below link:

  • Sony dpf-d810 how to get facebook pictures to load on photo frame. get ? photos.

How to change facebook stored photos to use on a sony s-frame dpf=d810.  I only get a large question mark.  Is there a program I can use to access my own phots stored only on facebook.  My computer crashed and I dont have them stored anywhere else.

If a question mark is displayed in index view, the thumbnail data or image file itself may not be supported by the photo frame. If the images are in an unsupported format, then it may be required to convert the files to one of the supported file formats before using them in the photo frame. Refer to page 33 of the supplied operating manual for information regarding the compatible image file formats.

  • Digital Photo Frame df1010v2 - how to download photos in the order they appear on USB?

Photos installed nicely into my df1010v2 digital photo frame, but not in the order I wanted them. I had painstakingly named all of them by date, and they appeared chronologically on the USB drive I copied them from, but they downloaded in random bunches.<br><br>Does anyone know why this happened and whether there is a fix? Pictures are for my 90-year-old mother, and the weird order will confuse her. I do not have frame set to view in random sequence, but that's how they will appear to her<br><br>P.S. Many of the photos are scans of old photos, so setting them to appear by date taken will not work here.<br><br>Thank you for any help!

    Hi,
If you are happy with PSE 6, why not continue to use it?
PSE 13 can display the images in date/time order like PSE 6 does. The time doesn't appear when you hover over a thumbnail but can be displayed below the thumbnail. The best thing is for you to download the trial version (select version 13 from the following link) and try it for 30 days to see if you like it.
    Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10
If you use the trial, to see the date and time under each thumbnail you need to go to the View menu in the organizer and ensure that Details is checked.

  • Having trouble connecting Ipod to a digital photo frame

According to the photo frame manual, I follow the directions on page 7 to listen to my music - I did that. It tells me the file format has to be wma or mp3. I assume they are.
I've plugged ipod Nano into its USB cable and the USB cable into the frame in the correct location. Once the cable is connected, it lets me choose the option to hear my music, but none of the music on my ipod is showing up on the screeen. Frame says "no music in current deviced" (it thinks the ipod is blank, but I know it isn't).
When it's plugged into the frame it says on the ipod screen that it's "connected - eject before disconnecting" like it does when it's hooked to the laptop. It won't let me select music on the actul ipod when it's plugged into the frame.
I've emailed technical support at SmartParts for the Sync Pix photo frame, but I don't know how much help they will be.
I'm truly stumped, and I'm sure my random explanations are probably not helping. ;(
    Thank You!

Good day Chakari. The photo frame supports images compatible with the Design rule for Camera File system (DCF)format. If the original images are not compatible with the DCF format, convert them to the DCF format before or after copying. The following are the DCF standards.
Image file names must be named DSCxxxxx.JPG , where the x represents a numerical digit.
Image files must be stored on the media in the DCF file structure
Its important to know, the DCF file structure requires a folder named DCIM on the media. Inside the DCIM folder should be a folder named 100MSDCF or 101MSDCF . The image files must be stored in one of these two folders.
Here's the Sony eSupport link for further assistance: http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId=C1024060&fes=true&m...

  • Photo frame export from iphoto

i bourght a digital photo frame recently but am having trouble exportin from my iphoto library.
I need to export to the native resolution of the frame which is 480x234 to optimise the number of photos I can fit on the memory card (any larger is just a waste of memory because the frame shrinks the oversized picture to the frame resolution).
The problem is that when I uncheck the "full-size image box" I can't enter the desired size in the fields below, I get 480x380 as iphoto tried to preserve the 4:3 aspect ratio.
is there any way around this? can I change the aspect ratio to 16:9?
    any help please?
    cheers
    Steve

    Steve:
You can get exactly what you want by using Resize! as follows:
1- create a new folder on the desktop and drag your chosen photo into it.
2 - launch Resize! and under the Box resizing section put in your dimensions. You can also set the quality level for the files also in order to reduce the overall file size even more to what you want. I found that Decent (60) was plenty good enough for the digital frame that I have. It took my 2272 x 1704 files (at 1.7-2MB each) down to 480 x 234 and around 20KB each in size. That helps the frame read and transition the files much quicker.
The application creates a second folder with the resized images. So you can experiment with several settings to get what works best for you.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photo frames

Does anyone know of a  photo frame compatible with TIFF? There are hundreds out there but the only one I have found which takes TIFF is the new Toshiba DMF102XKU. (mark that down in case ever needed). It's 10" and would have to do for home use (many frames go to 12, 15, and even 19) but is too small for an exhibition space (business use). [I know I can convert all to JPEG, or somehow batch process, but don't want the bother.]
Also, as alternative, could use a tv/dvd combo but would need to put photos into a slide show DVD using software like ProShow Gold. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks for help.

There are some techniques people are using in print templates to get frame effects.  Try searching for "lightroom print templates frames" in your fave web browser.
