When oraInst.loc file is created during installation on linux ?

Is this really true ?
When executing orainstRoot.sh , It creates the inventory pointer file (/etc/oraInst.loc).
In my case , " the file was created before executing orainstRoot.sh "
+ As far as I know , end of the installation only we are running orainstRoot.sh script .+

There are some startup and shutdown services which only maintain from inside the root users and because operating system refer the database from this files oratab and oraInst.loc
Oratab is a colon-delimited text file on Unix and Linux systems that associates ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME values.
The last field contains a "Y" or "N" for database startup when the machine boots up. One can also use hashes (#) to start comment lines.
This file is either found in the /var/opt/oracle or the /etc directories.
Scripts like oraenv, dbhome, dbstart and dbshut use the oratab file.
2) What is the importance of orainst.loc file?
It's maintain the oraInventory location means locations of ORACLE_HOME
3) Can we also use other groups except "dba" and "oinstall" during install?
Yes can do but not recommended by oracle

When is ORATAB file created during installation. Is it created when we run rootpre.sh?

Normally the path is in Oracle_home only for example,
/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/root.shYou will be prompted for that while installation goes on.

No PSWCLIEnvironment file created during installation

I've installed SUNWisw and the PSWCLIEnvironment file was not created during the process.
Could anyone tell me what data the file contains as I have to create it on my own?

Did you previously had Firefox installed?
The Firefox 4 RC version is a regular release and will replace the current Firefox entry in the Start menu even if you do a custom install (haven't tested this, so I might be wrong). You can easily create a new entry in the Start menu yourself if it is missing by dragging the desktop icon to the start menu or by using Windows Explorer to create a folder structure in "C:\Users\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Mozilla Firefox" if that folder is missing.

How do I transfer files I created during free trial to paid subscription?

I created several documents in FormsCentral using the free trial and now I just upgraded to the monthly paid subscription. When I go back into FormsCentral and try to add features to the documents that I created during my free trial, it tells me to upgrade my subscription. So it's not recognizing that I've upgraded. Do I need to transfer the files over somehow? I hope that I am not going to lose all the work I did in creating these documents during my free trial. Thanks for your help.

Xref table is missing when a pdf file is created with acrobat distiller 9.0.0

I created a pdf file with the new acrobat distiller 9.0.0 and i noticed that the xref table is missing in it.
Whereas the pdf files which created in older version (acrobat distiller 7.0.5) had the xref tables.
As i have written a perl script to open the pdf files (used a ready made module downloaded form cpan.org). The script works fine with all old pdf files but fails when it tries to open the pdf files created with distiller 9.0.0.
Could i know is any thing changed on acrobat distiller 9.0.0 ?

Error when importing static files in run-time installation

Hello all,
I have a development environment running 3.2 and also a run-time test environment running 3.2. I'm trying to import an export of static files from the development environment into the test environment, and we're getting the following:

Update:
I had two static files in my export - one was assigned to a specific application and one wasn't. When I ran into the issue importing, I had elected to export "all static files". I just tried it again, but exported and imported each of them individually, and it worked fine so I'm back in business.
But perhaps there is an issue when exporting all files, when they aren't all assigned the same way? Maybe something to be looked into...

File not found during installation (WinXP)

Well, I downloaded Oracle 11g for Windows (32 bit) from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html, and, basically, after having had some trouble configuring a new database, I selected the option to (simply) install a database through the wizard. I breezed through the settings, and, ran the installation wizard, however, some files seem not to be available within \win32_11gR2_database_1of2\database, or perhaps my laptop (Amilo Pro 8210) is too slow to be able to read these files.
The errors show up during Setting up Oracle Database 11g 11.2.0.10. The errors showing up within the UI are as follows:

i have had itunes downloaded on my computer before but the computer had to be repaired becuase it had viruses and now i cant reinstall itunes. whenever i try to install it again something pops up that says a fatal error has occured or something like that. does anyone know how this can be fixed?

Let's see if we can make some progress with that one first.
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Visio 2013 Crashes (...has stopped working..) when opening a file or creating new file

Just installed Visio 2013. When I try to create a new document or open an existing document, Visio crashes (Visio has stopped working......). It happens in safe mode too. Further, I've looked at add ins and there are none that I can "uncheck".
Not sure what else to try.
Any help appreciated!

Synonym AREA created during installation?

I have a client software application that uses the synonym "AREA" for one of its tables. We already have AREA as a synonym of a system table. Was that created by Oracle during the database installation? We have Oracle Enterprise 10.2.0.3.0. A year ago we didn't have this problem and the software vendor says they have always used AREA as a synonym.

10g CRS: ocrconfig hangs when running it from root.sh during installation

Hi,
we are trying to install a RAC 10g on Suse Linux 9.1 using raw files on shared SCSI disks. We told the system to be a supported red hat distribution (the way described elsewehere in OTN), linked compress to gzip and gave the oracle user writing access to /dev/raw/raw1, the ocr partition Installation went fine until the root.sh execution.

What did you do to solve this problem, i have same problem az you. whenever i execute root.sh it stops at line 743 and shows me:

O file not created during client export

Hi,
We are doing client copy via client export import.We used SAP_ALL client copy profile. We were expecting 3 files O,T and X . But we got only 2 files T and X. We checked at the OS level , and client copy logs SCC3. SCC3 shows only two transport request created and OS level has only 2 set of files.
Where is transport request O and its files?
Then we proceed and did the import in target client. But import error happened, it showed import stopped because of ztable were missing from nametab. how to proceed the import? Without solving the O file problem we cannot do the import ?

Client copy completed.
The SAP_EXPA worked fine, and we got O files also as a result. But we did not follow that method because we did not want to affect the system availability and data consistency of the other clients in the same SAP instance. Hence O file import is not done. We transported the missing ztables to target system. We manually created the transport request using se03. Still we had problem while running scc7 after import. For this we used Note 1235955 after post processing

No Start Menu created during installation

On Vista Ultimate SP1 I installed FireFox 4.0 and choose for custom installation. Under 'Create Icons for FireFox' I only disabled 'On my Desktop'. The other two options where marked.
The icon in the Quick Launch bar is created but there is no Start Menu folder?

Did you previously had Firefox installed?
The Firefox 4 RC version is a regular release and will replace the current Firefox entry in the Start menu even if you do a custom install (haven't tested this, so I might be wrong). You can easily create a new entry in the Start menu yourself if it is missing by dragging the desktop icon to the start menu or by using Windows Explorer to create a folder structure in "C:\Users\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Mozilla Firefox" if that folder is missing.

PC Windows 7, Illustrator CC crashes when opening a file or creating a new file

I have followed these suggestions on how to delete/reset the preferences but this did not work. Any ideas why this is happening with Illustrator, all of the other CC programs seem to still open and work fine?
