Photobook Question

I'm creating some photo books with Shared Ink and I was hoping for some advice. My first book came out great using the following process. I have all my photos in Lightroom in RAW format. My usual process is to export the pictures as Level 12 JPGs and then I import the photos into InDesign and layout an entire book. Since Shared Ink only takes the pages as hi res jpgs, I then make PDFs of each page and rasterize each of them into hi res JPGs with photoshop.
My main question is, when I first export my photos from Lightroom, should I be exporting Tifs at 16 bits instead of JPGs?
Thanks for the help.

It's highly unlikely you'll be able to see the difference.

  • Photobook questions [Was: My question is -]

this is my first photo book and I need to move  page 44 & 45 to just before page 59 how do I do this?
Also as there are no templates for 6,8 or 12 photos per page how can I have only this number to take up the whole page?

I'm not sure what version you are using, I use LR5.2 and you can do the following:
    - Move a page by clicking anywhere in the margins and drag it to where you want it to go;
    - For multiple photos, add a new page and choose "Multiple Photos" from the down arrow next to the page display,
then select the layout you want. There are 6,12 plus more layouts but no 8.
You may want to expirement with the size of the book as different book sizes have different placements and number of photos per page.

  • Urgent Question about Photobook resolution & dpi

I'm here trying to create a photobook 11" x 8.5", i notice the minimum requirement for a 11" x 8.5" photobook is 2010 x 1558 with 180 dpi, the images i have are 2560 x 1920 with only 72 dpi(look up from photoshop) , when i put the images into the photobook template there is no warming symbol (the triangle logo), does that mean that my images are o.k? if i want to add something to the images by using photoshop and set as 180 dpi, would it effect to my images quality?

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
Ignore the "dpi" of your photos - dpi really have no menaning until you actually print an image - if you are interested in details read +The myth of DPI+
I would not change the dpi in Photoshop - the 72 is the resolution of your screen and has no effect on the printing - the dimensions of the page and the size of the photos is what is important and your are fine - it will print at 225 dpi and crop just a hair off the 11 inch direction

  • Is there a photobook ordering option in iPhoto '11 vers. 9.1.5 (615)?

A friend of mine made a photobook with her Mac. I'd like to do the same. The instructions I've found on the web don't match the menu items in my iMac (vers. 10.7.3). Anybody know what I should do?
    Matthew

    Your question makes not sense
    Is it
Is there a photobook ordering option in iPhoto '11 vers. 9.1.5 (615)?
    Then the answer is yes
AS to what your friend did - with no information no one can tell you if you can do the same
and as to ordering with a different version (since 9.1.5 does not run under OS X 10.7.3 which you say you have) then no one can answer unless you tell us wha tyou actually have
And not that there are 5 or 6 versions of Iphoto that run under OS X 10.7.3 so once again for an answer you actually have to provide information
So the answer to your headline question is yes and to your continued rambleing is who knows - not enough information to answer

  • Photobook collaboration with PC user ?

Tried the iPhoto photobook service last fall and loved the result. The book was really appreciated by the family members we sent copies to and became an almost instant heirloom.
Now we want to collaborate on a new book but some of us use iPhoto while others are on PCs and use Picaboo. We are many timezones apart so sharing computers (other than via Timbuktu ?) is out of the question.
Parallels would be an absolutely last resort, one I don't even want to consider if avoidable. Is there any other way of sharing the layout task cross-platform ? Maybe using pdf as the communications medium or something like that ... or is there a Mac & PC photobook creation application that I just haven't found yet ?
    Thanks for any inspired thoughts,
    -Sven

MyPublisher.com offers a bookmaking application for both Macs and PCs. If the files that are produced are cross platform you could share the file between two users with DropBox. Toad's Tutorial #21 describes how to use Dropbox to share an iWeb domain file between two Mac and the process would be the same for Mac to PC and a compatible file. The only caveat is that both users cannot edit the item at the same time if it's a UNIX style package like an iPhoto library or iWeb domain file. I*'ve not been able to find where the files are stored so can't help you with that.* They are not kept in the application as far as I can tell and don't show up even with invisible files displayed. 'Tis a puzzlement.

  • RAW-TIFF and Photobooks

I am using a 10.5.8, on an 2.4 Intel Core 2 Duo and iPhoto 08, (version 7.1.5) and I have a mix of RAW and jpgs in a Photobook I created, but haven't yet ordered. I have in my preferences under Advanced --->RAW Save Edits as 16 bit TIFFs. All of the files have had some edits to them, so the question is.
Can I order the book and get closely what I see on my monitor?
And a second question....If I just used RAW files and made no edits to the images can I make a book and order it? Or is some conversion needed.
Thanks in advance and hope I can order this as is but hesitant to do so until a brain greater then mine fills me in. I would hate to order it and fine the color totally out of wack or that its a blank box because it was a RAW file.
    Thanks again

    Terence,
They are originally RAW files, but I have under Preferences ---> Advanced--->>RAW Photos-->> Save edits as 16-bit TIFF files.........they have all been edited. Since they have been edited aren't they now TIFF files and therefore able to be sent and printed properly?
They have been edited, so I presume they are TIFF files but when I look at them within the context of the book they still are tagged as RAW files. I understand what the RAW files are that is why I am asking, as what point do they cease being RAW and able to be used for a book.
The way I read it, since they have been edited, they are TIFFs and can be sent, but I don't want to make a costly mistake.
Will the Preview method send in the other response tell me 100% that it will be printable or not?
    Thanks

  • How do I print a photobook from iPhoto on my iPad?  Any ideas?

I'm using iPhoto app on my iPad2, and have arranged my photos in a great album, but cannot see anywhere how to print these to a photobook...  I can share it on iCloud or iTunes but that's it...
    Thanks

The question of making and having printed a photo book has been asked more than a few times now. It seems like a good idea. Perhaps you might provide that suggestion directly to Apple on their iPhoto for iOS Feedback page here

  • Where is the Unlock button in HP Photo Creations to move a Photobook page?

I am trying to create a Photobook. I fail to find the Unlock button in the Storyboard to change the position of a page in my book. Please help if you can.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi Una.
Thanks. I understand what's happening now. It's not possible to move the pages of a print-at-home book, because the program is designed to allow you to print each page individually. If you're adventurous, though, here's a trick you can use to preview the pages side by side: Set your region to United States, which will enable the ship-to-home projects.
Note that changing the region requires you to restart the program, so if you've started a project, be sure to save it first. Next, click the Globe button and select United States from the region list.
    Next steps:
If you had started a photo book pages project, click the Open button to open it.
    Click the Full Catalog button.
Click the Ship-To-Home tab and select one of the ship-to-home books with the same shape (for example, landscape).
Click the Apply Design button to copy your design to the ship-to-home book.
    Edit as desired.
    Click the Catalog button.
Copy your design back to a print-at-home "photo book pages" project.
    Print.
Remember to set your region back to Ireland when you're done.
    Hope this helps!

  • Why is there a question mark

There is a question mark on one of the pictures in my photobook creation.  What is it and how do I fix it?

It means that the PSE Organizer cannot find the photo. It is not in the place that PSE expects it to be. This usually happens becuase you renamed or moved or deleted the photo outside of PSE. To fix it, find the actual location and file name of this photo using Windows, then in PSE select the photo and then File->Reconnect and then point PSE to the actual location of the photo.

  • Lightroom 4.3 Problems with Photobooks

I am creating a photobook using Lightroom (Version 4.3). I am using individual backgrounds which I have designed in Adobe Illustrator. I have exported the files from Illustrator as jpg. I have the following questions:
    1) There are two presets for backgrounds in Lightroom (Travel and Wedding). Can I add my own backgrounds to a separate preset?
    2) From time to time I have a problem exporting the photobook as a pdf or transfer it to blurb. When I remove my individualized backgrounds there is no problem with the export function. Has this issue something to do with my backgrounds. Should I use a different format (other than jpg) for the background?

    1) The templates are added not very simply added. If you are on Windows, navigate to the Lightroom application folder and look for the Layout Templates folder within the Templates folder. There you will see a folder for each size of book, within which will be the different layout themes, within which you will see all of the files required to add a layout theme. Plus, you'd need to modify some of the files in the parent folders. Not exactly easily done. And it's trickier on the Mac side. There are likely some who have gone through all of this work and created their own layouts, which you could probably download (free or purchase is up to them, of course).
    2) All of the built in layouts use JPEGs, so that shouldn't be the issue. It may be a question of their size or compression settings. Look at the existing files and make a comparison.

I would like to know if apple deliver photobooks to hotels?

You did not ask about delivering to a different country - that is a much different question than delivering to a hotel
That may or may not be possible - what version of iPhoto do you have? With iPhoto '11 ou can try changing the print products country in the preferences and see if you can order with a delivery address in the selected country
