Photoshop Elements 11 filter plug-ins

Hi,
I've seen in PSE documentation that it supports filter plug-ins (see http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/photoshop-elements_reference.pdf page 57) but I can't find the documentation related to plug-in development anywhere. It's not part of Photoshop SDK, or if so, I must have missed it.
I already have a working Photoshop CS6 filter plug-in and I'd like to see how much work it would be to port it to PSE 11

Hi 99jon,
I can't see any document related to plug-in development on Adobe Exchange's website. I found documentation on how to publish a plugin to Adobe Exchange, as well as how to use Exchange to install/try/buy plugins, but nothing about plug-in development.
Again, to be sure I've been clear, I've already developed a Photoshop CS6 filter plug-in, I'm just wondering what would be the cost to port it to Photoshop Elements, so I'm looking for a sort of equivalent of the Photoshop CS6 SDK with html/pdf documentation on how to write a PSE plugin.
Thanks!

I lost my filter plug ins when I installed Elements 13, i.e. Topaz Labs, Nik.  If  choose one plugin in preferences it will add it to the filter list.  But if I try to add another filter it just replaces the first one.
How can I get my multiple plugins back?

Sorry to jump on this thread, but it seems like I have a similar problem. Oh. BTW, Happy New Year!
I have filters from Topaz, Imagenomic, ePaperPress, and Redfield. In the past when a new version of PSE came out, I just copied and pasted the folders w/ the ".8bf" files into the Plug-Ins folder of the new version. This time it didn't work.
I have been searching for a clue. I came across a confusing comment in a post from some Adobe gal [that has been linked multiple times. It said:
"Please click on Photoshop Elements in the top left corner and select 'Preferences'." The confusing thing about this is that I have no "Photoshop Elements" in the top left corner! As this is the first step, I'm stuck there...
Here is what I see in the upper-left corner:
When I click on the Elements 13 Logo, I get a small drop-down menu that has no "Preferences" option. I have versions of PSE back to 10 and none of them have "Photoshop Elements" in the top-left corner.
    BTW, I'm running Win 7 Home 64.
I noticed that PSE 13 loaded into my Program Files folder, whereas all previous versions went to my Program Files (x86) folder. That indicates that 13 is running as a 64-bit app? Does that require different plugins?

  • Am I correct that Photos does not support external editors? i.e., in Aperture, I click Photos Edit with.... and can open in Photoshop or various plug-ins. Changes are then automatically saved back to Aperture. Nonexistent in Photos?

Thanks Larry. That certainly gives me some understanding. Can't imagine I'm the only Aperture user with that concern, so I certainly hope Adobe and others will fill the void. Without that feature, Photos is pretty much a non-started for me.

  • GRADUATED Filter Plug Ins.

Can anyone tell me if there is a third party software supplier that does GRADUATED Filter Plug Ins for iMovie HD6. I want to be able to improve washed out skies by darkening them, like where the TV people use a graduated filter (e.g. the Cokin filter holder set) over the camera lens. I know there are plug effects that can change the appearance of clips but they cover the whole area, not graduated from top to bottom. The company Cf/x do just what I want but theirs don't work on Intel Macs and I don't want to play around with my iMovie with conversion things like Apple's Rosetta.
I've also tried GeeThree but they don't seem to have a Graduated Filter plug in.
    Any suggestions much appreciated.

  • Does Photoshop have extras, plug-ins, 3rd party programs, etc to purchase?

Does Photoshop have extras, plug-ins, 3rd party programs, etc to purchase like music and video editing software can?
If so, where is the price chart? I need to know these things as I am concidering purchasing Photoshop.
    Thank you.

I did look at the plug-in page quickly. I noticed the free ones and the pay ones.
From using producing programs, some photo editing and some video editing programs: I'd rather use what is there and what is inside first. Then look at the extras. I am realizing how deep this can get. But if I bought PS or CS 5 or whatever: I would want to learn.
I know that some plug-ins, extras, etc are their own and are highly useful. I do understand that it can take longer but in some programs you can do what a plug-in can do though it may require more steps. I'd rather learn the program and then get the short-cuts. But again some are stand alone and highly uselful - these are what I am looking for and want to know about.
I didn't know there were so many books though, this is new information. I believe that I was told a while ago about a couple or that one comes out with a new release. I like to read and know the who, what, when, where, why and how: but most of my time should be in the program. Eg: I read my photo editing programs manuals. That was important and helped me. I need to know terms, language, some short-cuts/how-to, etc. But getting in there is way more important.
Any more information is great. Please keep it comming. I am not getting the program in the immediate future, it's the pricing issue right now and that it's way more important for me to use what I have as I am still learning big time. Plus I have to get on my camera a lot more and draw a bit more.
    Thank you.

  • Does elements use plug ins?

I have a macbook pro & snow leopard. I bought a sony snap lab to print action photos at sports events.
The background template needs to go through this plug in specific for the snap lab.
So my husband has a pc. I was just going to buy the cheapest PS I could find & make the borders on my computer.
Then save them on the portable drive & have him open it on whatever cheap version I can find of elements with this snap lab program.
Any ideas? It won't work on my mac I've tried many different ways. I've even tried using rosetta. However, I have to uninstall snow leopard seems  a lot easier to try it the way I mentioned. Thanks for your help. Karen

I thought I could make the template on my computer on the mac.
Then put it on a hard drive & have the cheapest version of photo shop on his computer & just open it with that plug in.
I still don't understand what you want to do. Do you have to use a specific program to make this template? Why can't you just make a blank file? Please explain in more detail. What plug-in? On their web page I couldn't find any plug-ins. Maybe if you can provide a link.
The part about the snow leopard. I read that I could use the plug in on my mac & cs4 if I used rosetta which is an older os.
So I tried to download that & it said I could run it if I uninstall it.
No, that is not what rosetta is. Rosetta is a part of OS X for intel computers that allows you to use programs that were written for the pre-intel versions of OS X, like you'd have on a computer like a G5. You don't need to uninstall anything to get rosetta: when you open up a program, like Appleworks, for instance, that needs to run in Rosetta, if you are running 10.6, you will be prompted to install it. You do not download rosetta--it's on your system install disks.
You can run PSE 6 in rosetta, but not PSE 8 or 9, since adobe disabled that for PSE beginning with PSE 8.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 plug in and Aperture 3

I recently loaded Photoshop Elements 9 (for Mac).  I had expected the plug-in to appear automatically in the Aperture 3 pull down menu.  Obviously I have done something wrong.  But what?  Advice please

In Aperture, navigate to the "Aperture" -> "Preferences..." -> "Export" panel.
There's a box to select the external editor (use the "Choose" button and select Photoshop Elements 9).
It'll also ask about DPI (I think it will default to 300dpi and I'd leave that as the default.  You can change DPI in photoshop at any time and it does not effect the quality of the original image.)
It'll also ask what format you want to use when exporting to Photoshop... you'll have two choices of each TIFF and PSD in 8-bit and 16-bit color depths.  If you only shoot in JPEG then pick 8-bit.  If you shoot in RAW then choose 16-bit (RAW usually doesn't use the full 16 bit but it often uses more than the 8-bit JPEG formats.)
Meanwhile... back in the "General" category (still in the Preferences panel) there's a checkbox for "Automatically stack new versions".  I'm not certain if this is the default but I'd turn that on.  When you invoke the external editor, Aperture has to build a version of the file to send to Photoshop.  This will cause it to create a stack and put both versions in the stack.

  • Premiere elements 8 - Plug ins

    Hi
I am wondering what plugins are available for PE 8?
    Any suggestions or recommendations.
    Thanks
    Amanda

    Amanda,
For the Text animation, look at BluffTitler, and ProDAD's Heroglyph. ProDAD's VitaScene might be useful, as well.
For the Audio, things will be a bit tougher, and I hope that heavy PrE users can offer some tips. There are tons of VST's available on the Internet. Some are free and some quiet expensive. The problem is that PrE can use VST plug-ins, but only some. PrPro, which supports more VST's, than PrE, can only work with some. Many will keep PrE, or PrPro from even launching. See this ARTICLE for more details. Finding which ones work in PrE will be the trick. Most VST developers are doing so for DAW's (Digital Audio Workstations) and the normal audio editing programs. Most never consider NLE's (Non Linear Editors), like PrE, so do not furnish any note on compatibility. It becomes a real trial-and-error process. That is why I hope others might have done that R & D for you, and can point you to the right ones.
As for what you are looking to do, I think you will most likely be going between an NLE and an audio-editing program, with full features, like Adobe Audition, or the great, free audio-editor, Audacity. If you look into Audacity, be sure to read the Help files on the Web site on setting it up to install VST's.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Using Smart Filters to keep Camera Raw and filter plug-ins access

I am wondering if what I am trying to do is reasonable and possible.
I know I have seen some workarounds where you can open a RAW file directly in Camera RAW,copy a background, make it a smartfilter, and do your editing and then I guess you can go back and still access your Camera RAW settings which definitely has value.  This kind of is outside my normal workflow as I normally start with Lightroom and that won't work I don't think from Lightroom (unless perhaps if I send it to PS "without LR adjustments?".  Now of course you always have access to the original file and starting settings in lightroom, but once you layer PS edits and layers on top of that, you really can't go back.  I'd be willing to start from within Photoshop if somehow this would work.
And, I regularly use smartfilters when I use my NIK filters in PS.
What I ran into today was a situation where it would have been VERY nice to be able to go back to my camera RAW starting develop settings before I went down a long path of Colorefex and Silverefec filters.  Well, at the end, I determined my RAW sharpening was too strong at the beginning of my workflow.  So I was able to get back to my filter settings of course, but I could not get back to Camera Raw to adjust that.
So, is there a way to somehow keep your Adobe Camera RAW settings available to access, however while still being able to layer NIK filters also in a smart filter situation?  Is this a multiple smartfilter soluton?
    Thanks for any input,
    BJBBJB1

    Jeff,
Thanks, I do have the same version of ACR in LR3 and CS5.x.
I am willing to deal with the larger file sizes.  So the question is, how do I do it from either within PS or from Lightroom?
Do I need 2 layers, one for the ACR smartfilter and one for my NIK filters.  Can I do it with one?

  • Photoshop Elements 10  plug-in required for the new Camera RAW file format used by the new Canon 6D

I have a new Canon 6D and prefer to use Camera RAW.  This new file format is not compatable with Elements 10.  A new plug-in maybe is required.
    Can anyone help?
    Regards,
    gordo422209

I can't find Canon 6D in the list of supported cameras for even ACR 7.3. I would thus suggest you converting your raw files to dng using dng convertor tool and then open the dng files in ACR.
Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your original raw files as backups and for use in the manufacturers software)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.2
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.2
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Are photoshop file format plug-ins supported by the InDesign SDK?

If not, is it possible to read new file formats into InDesign? Thanks,
    Rob

I'm trying to import NITF image files. I already have a photoshop file format plugin that can read these images and was hoping that it could (somehow) be used to import images into InDesign as well. It appears as if this is definitely NOT possible.
My use case is that I'd like to read a NITF image into Photoshop. The images I deal with are typically single channel 16 bit images. I'd like to then use Photoshop to process the image (e.g., brighten certain parts of the histogram and/or crop the image). I'd then like an easy way to get the image into InDesign. My initial thought was to use a function that could just pass it over, but it appears as if that is not possible.
It looks like I'll either have to figure out if cutting/pasting is acceptable and, if not, save the image to disk and re-read it. Next I must find answers to these questions:
    a) Does the InDesign's SDK API provide the ability add to the list of supported image types that can be imported?
    b) Does InDesign's SDK API provide the ability to create new document save types?
    c) Does it make any sense to use a 16 bit/channel image in InDesign? I notice that it can read a 16 bit tiff file, but there doesn't appear to be any photoshop like controls to adjust the visible dynamic range.
Thank you all for your help!
