Photoshop to Animation?

Hi all,
I've made a Japanese image in Photoshop and it was going to be just a stand stil image, but since I've added a Hue/Satuaration layer and think it looks pretty damn awesome when I slide through the bar from left to right I want to make it into an animation or GIF.
I notice you can make the image or PSD layers a graphic or movie clip and change it in the Advanced options for colour effects, but this isn't like a hue/ saturation edit.
Is there a way in Flash that I can add a Hue/ Saturation layer to ALL layers or at least, that affects all layers? I've got a Hue/ Saturation layer in PS and saved that way but it doesn't show when in Flash, so is there a way to add this?
Thanks

You will have to recreate your effect with the colorMatrixFilter.
Use a tween to animate it.
This engine is easier to understand than Flashs own Tween class: https://www.greensock.com/tweenmax/

  • How do you rotate an object in the Photoshop CC Animation Timeline now that "3D Object Position" no longer exists?

I am attempting to animate the rotation of an object using Photoshop CC Animation.  However, unlike in previous versions where there was a "3D Object Position" layer on the Timeline that one would keyframe to change an objects position within the scene; the sublayer "3D Object Position" does not exist in CC.  I have attempted to change an objects rotation by keyframing the "Position" sublayer resulting in no change what so ever.  I have attempted to change an objects rotation by keyframing the "3D Meshes" sublayer resulting in the object rotating clear off the scene and not following the coordinates that I type in.  This is very frustrating since something like this use to be so easy!!  How do I animate the rotation of an object using Photoshop CC?!

Which version of CC and have you install the updates?

  • Photoshop CS5 animation option: render issues

    Hey there,
I'm working on a stop motion animation (made with photos only) for class with added drawn on  animations. It's been working out fine until now. Since the animation is  long, I cut everything into short sequences so I know length is not an  issue. Here's what's wrong: I've arrived to a part where the drawn part  of the animation gets more important and therefore more detailed. The  animated sequence when played with CS5 looks fine, more or less fluid,  maybe a little laggy but it looks good. The problem is, when I export > render video (I choose AVI and it's been working fine), the end  result is disastrous and looks nothing like what was played in  photoshop. Originally the viewer should see a mass turning into a girl  who then turns around and it looks good in the program but on the  rendered video the shapes sort of leak into each other and don't evolve  properly (it's difficult to explain).
I tried working on different computers, making the image neater (the  resolution is high which might explain the lagginess but the not the  horrible end result), changing the fps,... I'm out of ideas and the deadline is  approaching and I'm completely stuck at the most important part of the  animation!
Please help, I'm considering doing this manually with movie maker which is just... no good.
    Any help welcomed, I'm desperate.
    Thanks.

    Hey Yukanegishi
Try using Adobe Premiere when making animations.
Its so easy, to use and very good results.
The only thing i manage to do was in the sister program to adobe and that was a .GIF picture that lagged horrible

  • Photoshop CS5 Animation Help

I'm currently working on a banner design in which certain animation components need only to loop one time while other components need to loop forever. Is there a way that I can choose specific layers to loop once and choose others to loop forever within the same animation scheme?

Of course GIF can save animations with multiple Frames which are represented by multiple layers in the document.  I don't think PNG can do animation at all, however.
Have you tried altering the amount of RAM you have allocated to Photoshop in the Edit - Preferences - Performance menu?

Look at menu Window and open the Animation panel and create a frame animation use save for web to save an animated gif or menu file>export to export a sequences of images for the animation. The information may be a little off for I don't have access to CS3 any more and CS6 replace the Animation palette with the timeline palette which can do both frame animations and video. Photoshop help has some information on the subject.

  • Photoshop cs6 animation/timeline help

I am trying to learn how to do a small animation. I have Timeline window open at bottom of screen but do not understand how to get images into the space. Everything is grayed out. I have read the Adobe tutorial but nothing really says how to place keyframes into the timeline space. I watched a YouTube video but it started with there already being an image there and then they showed how to copy and change it so an animation could be achieved.
Could someone tell me the first steps, from the beginning, to get things set up right and have something to adjust and set times to ,etc.
I have spent awhile now playing with it and decided to ask for help.
    Thank you!

Each object must be on its own layer.
For this example lets create a shape pick any of the shapes in the tool bar, just make sure you are using shapes which is found in the top tool bar.
Click the create video time line in the animation panel, this should create a timeline for each layer.
Before each layer in the timeline panel is an arrow, click on it to twirl it down.
Lets use position for an example. Location the word Vector Mask Position for that object and click on the stopwatch
Move the timeline head along the timeline to a new time (any new time will be fine for this example, just make sure its more than 15 frames just so its slow enough to see moving. {This will also depend on the distants traveled in the next step})
With the move tool selected (lowercase v - keyboard shortcut)  Drag the shape elsewhere on the document. This will create the end keyframe.
Just below the frames in the animation panel is a slider at the beginning and the end of the entire animation. Dragging the little gray box at either end adjusts the start and end work area. Drag the end work area box towards to the end keyframe. This will stop the animation when the shape stops moving. You will see it snap at that keyframe.
Hit the space bar to play your animation. If done correctly you will see your shape move across the document.
Your animation panel should look similar to the attachment. Don't worry about getting the same end timeframe as mine, as it is only an example.

  • Illustrator cs4 and photoshop cs4 animation files

In ps cs4  using the animation tools you can draw over an image frame then save out the frames of the drawings. I would like to know if in illlustrator cs4 if you can open the movie files (they could be avi etc) in illustrator cs4 and save the line drawing on each frame as a vector file?
    TIA
    John

    OK
To explain the project maybe you can help.
I shoot some live footage with video camera HD 720p - this footage is to be rotoscoped of the action of the character.
The HD 720p is not 2k res so their ratio is not correct for 2k so I was thinking the line drawings (rotoscoped)  bring them into illustratorcs4 and convert the line drawings into vector files so they can be brought into the 2k file size and scaled to ratio that works with the 2k files
Once these line drawing vectors are on the correct frames in the movie 2k file - framesave them out and paint in pscs4extended and paint the layer and save back out into a movie file (avi, etc)
Your thoughts about doing this would be appreciated and which software to use

  • Changing animation frame rate when rendering in photoshop does not change the length of the video?

I made a walk cycle animation in Photoshop CS6 and want to render it into a quicktime format. I'd like it to be 12 fps, but when I rendered it at 12 fps the video seemed to be missing frames, and the video was 3 seconds long. I have 98 frames to my animation; doing the math, at 12 fps it should be 8 seconds long. Not 3.
I was confused and for curiosity's sake I rendered the video at 6 fps, trying to really slow it down. The video ended up being STILL 3 seconds long and only maybe 20 frames. I was missing literally 70 frames. I'm so upset with this rendering thing, I could chuck my computer at the wall.
Does anybody know of a solution to this?
edit: If it means anything, I've tried rendering it straight from the frame view and the timeline view. Each time I render it I have the timeline frame rate match the rendering frame rate as well.

    floriannaart wrote:

Photoshop CS6 and CC support two types of animation Frame animations and a Video Timeline
Changing the frame rate should not change the length of a video timeline. It should just change the number of frames that are rendered.  To change the length of a video you need to change the length of the video timeline.  If you increase the length of the timeline and there is audio I'm quite sure there will be a problem with it,  The Video part will most likely be better then the sound. The required number of extra frames can be generated however the video may look like slow motion. If you decrease the length the motion will speed up.  The length of a video is normally done be editing video clips which are trimmed and stitched together to get the desired duration. Not normally done by altering the duration of a clip.
The duration a of Frame animation is the sum of the times each frame is displayed.  In a frame animation the length of time a frame is displayed can be varied it not a normal motion picture video.  To have a smooth frame animation you need a sufficient number of frames that are different from each other to show smooth motion.  You can use Photoshop Frame animation tween feature to have Photoshop manufacture frames to help with a smoothing the animation.   Once you have a frame animation the length with the motion you want you can have Photoshop convert it to a video timeline and render a normal motion picture video.  It will not have audio but you can add audio to it.

  • Photoshop animated smart object to Flash??

    Hey All,
I could use a little help here, I am working on this project for a company and they need it to be animated. I tried using Photoshop's animation capabilities, but could only go so far with that. So I'm working on it in flash now. I have managed to import the scene I was working on in Photoshop to flash, but I can't seem to figure how to get the animated smart object (with a screen layer blending mode) to come across in flash. I'm sure there is some super simple way of doing this, but I can't think of one. I've got years of experience with Photoshop, but little time with Flash.
When I import the PSD file to Flash I am selecting the animated smart object layer as "Bitmap image with editable layer styles" selected, and have it also selected to be a movie clip. But it only shows up as a static layer without the screen blending like it was in Photoshop. What am I doing wrong here?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Paul you may want to ask this question over in the AI forum http://forums.adobe.com/community/illustrator its audience may have more experience then this forum's audience with Illustrator and Photoshop combo many here only use Photoshop. I for example have no idea what you mean when you write  a spot color.

  • How do I make Flash use the original Photoshop file, not a .png one?

Hi, this might be kind of a basic question/problem but I can't seem get Google to help me. Since I've recently started out with Flash, I guess I just missed some newbie thing out, still very greatful for help though, since this'll soon be causing a brain hemorrage...
    Ok, here goes:
I'd like to draw key frames in Flash, just simple drawings/skelettons using the pen tool, basically to create the movement itself. After that, I want to export the frames that I drew as images to Photoshop in order to apply texture and colour, and then put them back into Flash again, without tampering with the Flash doc I've already created, since the animation is already done. I want the file(s) that I'm working with to remain the same files throughout the process, from Flash to Photoshop and back to Flash again, like the way InDesign works. Is this even possible?
If this isn't possible at all, I guess the alternative is to draw in Photoshop and then import the drawings into Flash, put them in order and then make any eventual changes after you've created the animation in Flash, this is less smooth though still possible. But here emerges (sort of) the same problem:
When I import images from Photoshop, create animation out of them, and then realize I have to make some changes in the original PS pic file I head back to PS to correct it. But it just doesn't work the way I want it to... If I modify the pic file in PS, then use the "update" alternative in Flash Library, Flash just tells me that the file can't be found, and does not update the image. If I choose the "edit in PS"-alternative from right clicking on a symbol that is in the library, the file opens as a .png file in PS, not as my original file! It seems to me that Flash is creating its own library, not using the existing document. Is there anyway to go around this? How do I make Flash use my PS file which allows me to change it as much as I want (as with InDesign)?
This is driving me crazy, what I'm working on is supposed to be full HD, I can't use a freaking .png file... Gah!
    Very many Thanks in advance!
(If anyone has any suggestion for alternative software, that's also very welcome!)

If you start the artwork in Flash, you are starting with a vector drawing. If you export this art as a .png so that you can edit it in Photoshop, you will be translating the artwork to a bitmap image at a specific resolution. When you edit this .png in Photoshop, you can save it, as a .png, and then import that .png into Flash.
After you import the .png, place it on the stage in a new layer. Position the new artwork over the old artwork. Then throw away the original artwork. Now, when you want to edit the artwork, go to the original file in the movie's Library and select Edit with Photoshop. When you save the file in Photoshop, the updated file will appear in the Flash movie.
If you have Illustrator, you can export your original artwork as an Illustrator file. Then you can open this file in Illustrator, edit it, and save it. Then, as above, import the .ai file into Flash and toss out the original. Now you can edit the original file through the Library in your Flash movie.
Alternately, you could start by creating the artwork in either Photoshop or Illustrator. Then import that art into Flash. Now you have a link to the editor for either file in your Library. This may simplify things.
Working with Photoshop and/or .png files will give you a larger finished file than working with Illustrator files. In either case the finished resolution of the Flash movie will be the computer's screen resolution, 72 ppi.

  • Axis Disappearing From Animation

    Hello,
Without going into wasteful detail, I am building a powerpoint presentation that has four individual bar charts each with three bars of data (envision 4 charts, one bar chart in each corner,  each chart with three bars).  I have set this to animate
by category for each, with the first two categories in each of the 4 individual bar charts populate instantly and on a click the last one for each of the four populates.  (1) I have put at the very bottom of my issue exactly how I got this accomplished
in case my methodology is wrong building up to this.
I have done all that, and it operates well.  Except that the bottom two graphs have their X axis disappear and just those two.  The top two graphs, which appear at the same time as the bottom two and were created the same way at the same time from
the same source file by the same user (me) and animated the same way do not have this issue.  I have the most recent service pack installed.
What could be causing the X Axis to selectively disappear?  It worked perfectly fine when I tested it and after saving, exiting out and restarting my computer (no one else with access to the file and I didn't alter it), it has this issue.
    Sam Ryan
    (1) For those of you that haven't done that before, you can do this by pasting in your graphs as Microsoft Office Graphic Object. After you have them on the slide, click on one and set to animate as "fade".
Then in the animation pane, you can see your chart is set to "fade" on click.  Right click on the animation and you can see your options are "Start On Click", "Start With Previous", "Start After Previous",
"Effect Options", "Timing", "Hide Advanced Timeline" and "Remove".
Click on "Effect Options".  Once in "Effect Options", go to the tab "Chart Animation" and where it says "Group Chart: As One Object", change that to "Group
Chart: By Category".  This will break your chart into individual pieces by category.  You can rearrange them here and set them to start as a click, etc.   There is the option of "Start Animation by Drawing the Chart Background",
which I have clicked as on.  This is so the charts are populated when I click in.
I did this one by one, moving the first two animations of the category to the very front and "Start on Previous" and then put the last bar in last, all together.  So it looks like
        0   Chart 25:Category 1
             Chart 25:Category 2
             Chart 26: Category 1
             Chart 26: Category 2
             Chart 27: Category 1
             Chart 27: Category 2
             Chart 28: Category 1
             Chart 28: Category 2
    1 (on click)
      Chart 25:Category 3
             Chart 26:Category 3
             Chart 27:Category 3
             Chart 28:Category 3

I’m not really experienced with Photoshop’s Animation-features, so I’m not sure about the Action- and Script-ability of the Animation-features, but you could ask in the Photoshop Scripting Forum.
Other that that one work-around might be to use File > Export > Render Video with File Options > Image Sequence to export the Frames and subsequently print those files, might it not?

  • Is there a way to combine existing animated gifs?

I have several animated gifs that I would like to watch in a sequence (one after another). Is there a way to combine them, and if not, is there an existing program that could accomplish that?
    Thanks

Absoluety. You'll want to open your gif files in Photoshop by going to File > Import > Video Frames to Layers...
Then you'll select all of your frames from one gif and copy them over into the video frames of the other gif. You'll do all of this in the Animation menu in Photoshop (Window > Animation, or Window > Timeline for CS6). You can paste the frames to whichever point you want, just make sure to designate the location by clicking on the frame you'd like them to be inserted at.

  • Animation in an animation

hi, I am very new in quicktime but, have to start somewhere!
I have two quicktime movies both were created in photoshop and animated in image ready.
one is chimps singing on a screen that I want to be a background screen in the approximate centre of the second animation!
Is there a way in quicktime to import the chimps as a background and overlay the second animation over it?
I would like it to look as if there is a tv in the background of a room playing the chimp movie.
for me to create it in image ready it is over 1200 layers which is to large and extremely time consuming,
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Gary
    I do have quicktime pro

Here is how I do it:
Organize the video clips and/or stills that you want to superimpose on to your main video clip, by having these in separate, individual iMovie projects (no matter how small). It helps if these are in the exact length/time you want later.
Now start with the clip in your iMovie project on to which you want to superimpose one of more smaller video clips or stills. Lets call it Main Clip. Export this (share) to Quicktime Pro in DV (full quality). make sure it has the same aspect as before (Quicktime tends to default to 4:3. If you want 16:9, read on).
In Quicktime, with this project open, select File ~ Open File. Select the iMovie file (in your movies folder) of the first clip/still you want superimposed. This will open in its own QT window. Select Edit ~ copy. If it is a movie clip then select all ~ copy (or you will only get one frame!). Switch back to the Main Clip window, and click in the scroll bar where you want the extra clip/still to appear. Choose Edit ~ Add to Movie.
You can repeat this as many times as you like, if you want to build a 'Video Wall', i.e. have several superimposed clips/stills on the same Main Clip.
Do not worry that the new clip overlaps or covers up the Main Clip, at this stage.
Choose Window ~ Show Movie Properties. The Properties Dialogue appears.
You will see a list of video (and audio) tracks. Track one will be the Main Clip, track 2 your new added (superimposed) clip. Click track 2, then click visual settings. From the Scaled Size pop-op menu, choose percent. Then type 50 into the first box. If Preserve Aspect Ratio is turned on you won't need to type 50 into the second box. You have made the pasted footage appear at one quarter its original size. The inset is now hugging the top-left corner of the Main Clip. If you want, you can type numbers into the Offset Boxes to shove it away from that corner (there are 72 pixels to the inch).
If your original Main Clip was required in 16:9, unclick (de-select) Preserve Aspect Ratio, and type in the relevant numbers in the two boxes, in Video Track 1.
    PAL (for Europe):
    Standard DV (4:3) 788 x 576
    DV Widescreen (16:9) 1050 x 576
    NTSC (for the USA):
    Standard DV (4:3) 720 x 528
    DV Widescreen (16:9) 874 x 480
This will not affect video track 2, but if that is also wanted in 16:9 repeat for that track.
You can superimpose, 3, 4, or more such 'overlaps' on the same clip, and spend a happy afternoon tapping away for each track in the Offset Boxes until you have got them all in the right place! You can even overlap them, if you can remember (or note down - hire a secretary to take notes) which track you want on top etc.
Save the completed QT file. Import the completed file into a new iMovie project. Import this into the original iMovie project, substituting the old clip you copied to QT as Main Clip for the new fancy clip you have made.
    Have fun!
