Photoshop Touch support for Chinese, Japanese, & Korean?

open &menu-add text
Not supported chinese Japanese Korean

Hi vgxkghvgxkgh,
I've seen other reports about other non-english characters not working as well. I'm not sure if the issue is because the fonts which are included with Photoshop Touch don't include these characters (even though they appear with the native keyboard layout). Regardless, I'll pass the info on to the Photoshop Touch development group to ensure they are aware. Thanks for posting about the issue.

  • Chinese, Japanese, Korean Language Support

There were already a number of suggestions about how to get Chinese, Japanese, Korean installed, but none of the message threads were related to the new Curve 9300.
The Blackberry Desktop Manager, even if updated to the lastest software, does not offer an option for Chinese, Japanese, Korean to add under the Application Loader section.
Also it seems to be impossible to find the cjk.alx files online for download.
I would be grateful if anybody could give me a precise explanation on how to install those languages and be able to read as well type in them.
    Thanks!

    Hello,
May I ask if you resolved this? I am thinking of buying a Curve 9300 but only if I can use Chinese and Japanese.
    Thanks!
Hi and Welcome to the Community!
As this thread is nearly a year old, I will jump in. Please see this helpful KB:
    KB05305Localization support for BlackBerry smartphones
Languages on a BB are controlled by the specific OS package installed to the BB, available via the official download portal:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    2) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/?lid=us:bboftwareesktopSoftware&lpos=us:bboftware
    3) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    4) If that OS package is from a carrier other than the carrier for which your BB was originally manufactured, then delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    5) Launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC. If, during the process, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
    Don't forget to backup.
If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • Importing Chinese/Japanese/Korean/Arabic from Word to Indesign CS5.5 ME Edition

    Hi,
I am currently working on 13 languages leaflet, and I am importing my word documents in using Paragraph Styles direct in to my document. The document I am producing is one continuos story, and I need to introduce Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic to the document.
I am using the Middle Eastern version of Indesign, so it can handle the text. But when I bring in the Word Document it totally ignores the Paragraph Styles for the text and places in with the font used within word.
I need to bring in the text as follows,
    Chinese     MHei Light/Bold
    Japan          DFGothicPStd W2/W5
    Korean          SMGothicStd Light/Bold
    Arabic          GeezaPro Regular/Bold
Is it the formatting of the Word Document I need to concentrate on, or the way I introduce this in to InDesign?
The styles I want work if I set them by hand, but I need them to work when importing the Word Document as I have many of these to produce,
    Thanks
    Steve

Your line breaks will most likely be incorrect if you don't turn on the Japanese Composer.
It is almost absolutely impossible to accomplish your goal without having a font - any font - installed on your system that has that glyph. However, if it's showing up in Word, than means that you must have that glyph installed, right? What font are you trying to use in InDesign? You might already know that Word will auto-substitute fonts when it encounters a missing glyph, so we really don't know what font is being used to render that one glyph. The whole sentence might be in MS Mincho but one glyph might be pulled from another font if MS Mincho doesn't have that glyph.
That being said, you're going to break it if you don't know how to set Japanese type in ID. It's not something where you can just copy text out of email and paste into your English layout.

  • Why doesn't Photoshop touch ask for access to local photos on my iPad so I can grant access and edit?

Why doesn't Photoshop touch ask for access to local photos on my iPad so I can grant access and edit?

That's odd. Does this mean that you want to have the request or that you can't see the photos even though you enabled it over the privacy/photos?
If you enable it - it's not necessary to get the request. If you want the request the safest way to get it back is to reset the privacy settings by going to iPad settings/General/Reset/Reset Location & Privacy

  • I bought the photoshop touch app for my phone. Why can't I get it on my iPad also?

I bought the photoshop touch app for my phone. Why can't I get it on my iPad also?

There are two different versions of PS Touch that, even though they are similar in function, serve different form factors. One is for tablet (landscape orientation) and one is for phone (portrait).
I guess one could argue why Adobe didn't make it so that orientation didn't matter and would adjust accordingly (a la SketchBook Pro) but you'd have to ask the developers that.

  • Any word on touch support for Photoshop CC?

I've been trying to use it on my Surface Pro 2, but only the (tiny) menu buttons work.  Every time I touch the canvas, the image instantly slides off-screen.
I know improved support for touchscreens has been in the works.  But after recently seeing a Surface Pro 3 commercial where they show someone moving the image around on a touchscreen in Photoshop, I had assumed they finally fixed the issue.  Nope.  I've searched high and low but still haven't found any news about the improved touch support or when it's coming.
Can anyone shed some light on this?  Thanks for any help!

Could they have been using one of the Adobe Touch applications?

  • Photoshop Touch SDK for iOS Bugs and annoyances

I've just finished implementing the "Touch" capability in my iOS app. As I can't find anywhere to post bug reports, and this may help others, here's my experience:
    BUGS:
    1. sendImage in psconnection is multiply broken:
    (a) Network communication depends on the PSRawImage C structure. However, that does not take padding into account. This may work for build settings that don't allow structure padding, it certainly doesn't work for my settings.
    (b) Pixmap support is broken. The CGBitmapContext setting (RGB 888) it attempts to use is unsupported and will throw an exception on iOS
    (c) JPEG support is broken - the (required) format byte simply isn't added to the network packet.
    2. The documentation is wrong/incomplete
    (a) It doesn't mention the format byte - you have to find that in the demo programs that don't use psconnection.
    (b) It suggests that messages to the server are acknowledged. If they are, I'd like to know where/how.
    3. The test version of Photoshop  crashes with some (not all) JPEG images:

A Google search on the crash signature above shows it has previously occurred as a result of corrupt fonts.  However (a) I'd done all the font checking etc as recommended, and (b) this only occurs for JPEGs, not pixmaps.
    Annoyances:
    1. psconnection is a huge memory hog; it creates multiple copies of images and network packets. Be prepared to rewrite if you're dealing with large images.
    2. psconnection is not thread safe. Be prepared to put in locks and inter-thread communication code.
    3. psconnection is iPad only. Be prepared to rewrite to be able to use it on an iPhone
    4. The serial number for the test version of Photoshop as provided on the Adobe site only works for a few hours, then decides that the serial number is invalid.
    Hints:
The demo programs e.g., transmitimage, do seem to work, as opposed to psconnection. However, they use their own code that doesn't do much in the way of error checking, etc.

Can we now assume that the touch SDK has been abandonned by Adobe? It's now a year after "should be updated soon", and currently if you try to download the touch SDK from this page you get the Photoshop 3 SDK instead!!!
I ask as I'm about to remove Touch support from my app; the very few people that use touch are now having problems e.g., timeouts, with the latest version of Photoshop.

  • Photoshop Touch supported on 7" Nexus 7

Will you be developing Photoshop Touch for the Nexus 7. A 7 inch tablet is the form factor i prefer for a tablet and would really like to have a portable version of photoshop running on my Nexus 7. Is there any chance you're going to develop for the Nexus 7?

I can't believe these apps aren't supported by the Nexus 7?
Here I thought Adobe and nVidia were tight!
    Please update soon. (proto also)
    Love your software.

  • Does Photoshop Touch support "Actions"

One of the features I use most in Photoshop is the "Actions".  So far I have not been able to find that feature on Photoshop Touch.  Can anyone tell me if that feature exists or if it is something I can look forward to in a future release?  Having the ability to take a picture while on location and then to instantly apply preprogrammed actions would make Photoshop Touch an undispensable app for me.

    Hi MRubillo,
Photoshop Touch doesn't currently support actions. I'm not sure if it would be possible to incorporate this functionality into a tablet based app or not. I created the following feature request on your behalf, please add your vote and any comments you would like to see included.

  • Photoshop Touch update for Galaxy Note 10.1

Photoshop Touch came installed on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 at purchase. Is there a way to update this app as updates become available, or do I have to purchase the app from the Android market in order to recieve updates?

I had issues updating the app too.  It's a little annoying to update the first time.  Here's what I did:
    1)  Close your Photoshop Touch app.
    2)  Find the app that is called something like Samsung apps.  It will run and then the app will disappear from your app list.
    3)  If it's already not there or once you complete step 2, find the app called GALAXY Apps and open it.  This might require an update too.
    4)  Do a search for Photoshop.  You'll get a bunch of options there.  Be careful to not choose the app that you have to purchase.  Find the photoshop app that requires an update.  You may have to sign up for a Samsung account to update it.
That's it, you should be able to connect after that!  Hope this helps.

  • Are there differences between Solaris 8 and Solaris 2.6 in the way web pages are displayed for Chinese and Korean text using UTF-8 settings?

A user is running a web application on Solaris Release 2.6 with UTF-8. After the server was updated to Solaris 8, the application is experiencing problems with webpages containing Korean and Chinese text. The encoding is UTF-8. Has anyone experienced this problem? I checked the packages installed on Solaris 8 and they are consistent with what was installed on Solaris 2.6. Could this possibly be a patch-level problem? Thank you.

    Hi everyone,
I was planning to put together a photobook for my grandparents with Chinese text. If it shows up on my computer, will out come out looking the same (or will it be all garbled up)? I did a "preview book" and the characters showed up. Safe to order?

If you preview according to this article - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - it will print just like the preview - Apple guarantees it

  • Chinese/Japanese/Korean characters do not display ...

    Hi there,
I recently noticed that no characters show up on Skype at all, they appear only as squares, however if I copy and paste these into a different program, then the characters are displayed. This is obviously a display problem which is specific only to Skype, any suggestions? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling in Chinese, but even on the install screen, only the header bar displayed correctly, everything within the program displayed only as squares. Also changed font to an Asian font which I use when typing Chinese, but still no success.
    Solved!

    Hi,
I had a similar problem after updating. Oddly enough, having an Asian font made things worse. This seems to be an issue for people using multiple Asian languages.
A quick fix that worked for me was to change the IM font to Arial Unicode. To do that I had to click on the "Display More Fonts" button and change the Arial Unicode font to "show" in the Control Panel window that opened. Back in Skype I had to close and reopen the "Options" "IM fonts" window and then select the newly available Arial font.
Now CJK all display correctly, but they're not quite as pretty as they were.
    Hope this works.

This solution worked for me. However, I hope the skype dev team comes out with a fix for this consistent problem.
