PHP virtual host specific settings

Hi,
is possible to have some php settings defined differently fo
virtual hosts ? Our global php configuration has safe mode
enabled by default, but some virtual hosts need safe mode
to be off.

  • For David Powers - Apache 2.2 and php 5.2. Virtual hosts

    Hi David,
    I have updated to the latest Apache and PHP
    Apache 2.2 and php 5.2. Must easier instal,
    But now I'm setting up Virtual hosts to make it easier to use
    php
    includes and DW templates.
    I have followed instructions on page 86 of above book, but I
    can't
    find the section NameVirtual Host on Apache's httpd.conf and
    it is
    much shorter than 950 lines.

    Many thanks David - I had found his revised tutorial on
    installing
    Apache - but I must have missed the bit on virtual hosts.
    That's great - I've not got all my sites working as virtual
    hosts (:-)
    Now to play with relative links / links to php include files
    in
    templates. !!!
    I'm going to try to get headers, footers and nav panels etc
    out of the
    main template(s), and do what Murray has been nagging
    everyone to do
    for ages.....
    I wasn't getting on well with that with before !! - standby

    I had to read two of David's excellent books about three
    times - eh !.

  • Dreamweaver CS5 with PHP, not getting it to work with virtual Host

    I have not got far with the book so far.  I am still on the second chapter where you set the Virtual Host but after setting up the Dreamweaver site definition and doing the test.  I get the error that page cannot be found.
    I ask if I can mail the text file of the http.conf and the httpd-vhosts.conf to anyone to see if I screwed up somewhere .  I am running on Windows 7 with the WAMP setup.

    Mr. Powers,
    I used your included file httpd-vhosts.conf.  And it did something since now I get a new set of errors.
    ( ! ) Warning: Unknown: failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0
    ( ! ) Fatal error: Unknown: Failed opening required  'C:/vhosts/phpcs5/lesson02/site_check.php'  (include_path='.;C:\php\pear') in Unknown on line 0
    But I checked the properties of the folders and unchecked the 'read only' permission but still gets checked again.  I am using Windows 7 64-bit.
    I checked on the web nobody says any solutions about it, they only imply that is a permissions issue.
    I apologize, I found out the chapter files were encrypted... thanks

  • Enable group wiki/blog services on a specific virtual host

    In Workgroup Manager im used to enable the following services for this group on a specific virtual host, this option is now grey and not accessible. Neither is the options below for turning on/off wiki, blog and calendar.
    What happened here? Feels like 10.6 is more like 10.2.6 in functionality and manageability!

    I Have same problem. Im suspecting a ethernet bond related problem, as i had similar in 10.5 server. The ethernet bond takes one of the two MAC adressess from the fysical ethernet interfaces (eth1 or eth2). OS X server system somehow binds it services to them?

  • DNS settings for virtual host 10.6 server

    We have just gone through a rebranding exercise, i.e. the company name has changed from 'mycompany' to our 'ourcompany'.
    For various reasons we have decided to not rename our complete setup, but rather add a virtual host for our mail server including a second primary DNS zone for the new domain 'ourcompany'.
    We are hosting our website externally, however since we added the second primary DNS zone incl. an A record (www) pointing to our external website hosts IP for 'ourcompany', workstations on our LAN can no longer access the website.
    Running DIG for 'www.ourcompany.com.au' results in the correct A record IP address being shown, but it is still not showing in any browser – we also made sure we emptied our caches.
    Although we thought this should work relatively easily, we are now totally confused as to the additional primary zones general settings... currently we allow zone transfer and provide an entry in the nameserver section.
    Any ideas as to what might be going on here would be greatly appreciated.

    Mr. Hoffman,
    Than you very much for your reply - unfortunately, despite studying and testing your advice (incl. wesbite) we seem to not get much further.
    Please find our comments inserted below...
    MrHoffman wrote:
    FWIW, both mycompany.com.au and ourcompany.com.au are real and registered domains; I'll presume they're not the domains you're migrating from or to.  Accordingly, I'll use example.org for your old stuff, and example.com for your new stuff; the example domains are RFC-reserved for this usage.
    Correct we are not using my bad example domains.
    Each host should have one A record (and one AAAA record, if you have IPv6 active), and one of the more common errors in these migrations is setting up an A record for each new domain that might arrive; each host has one A (and possibly one AAAA) record, and that's the canonical name for that host.  Externally, that'll probably be the latest name in any sequence (such as www.example.com), and all previous names (including www.example.org) will have CNAME entries.
    To clarify do you mean the following: internally we should not have more than one A record for each host... i.e. one for example.org and one for example.com and presumably any other subdomains should be CNAME records?
    2. externally we should change the A record for www.example.org to a CNAME record and create a new A record for www.example.com;
    Internally (and here's why having a different domain inside is handy) use one of the old names; use example.org, for instance.  This means you can use the public DNS services for the external web sites and resources; your internal DNS servers receive the requests for example.com hosts and go "duh, lemme ask somebody else for that", and that somebody else is the (public) DNS server your external DNS services for example.com hosts.
    Exactly what we had initially done - basically we (naively) thought we could get away with only relying on external DNS translations... however that resulted in mail clients on our LAN loosing their connection every 5-10 minutes, thus we decided to setup another primary DNS zone which fixed that problem but created the other.
    Please also note we have created a subdomain admin.example.com which properly resolves to the CMS backend - btw. from within this backend you can then preview the any page on the regular website with their non www. URLs.
    Since the current setup resolves to the correct IP address I wonder if it could be a problem with the .htaccess rewrite rules the web developer has setup to remove the www. ... or is this too far fetched?
    The usual trigger for not reaching the external A (or AAAA) records is either a stale cache on the particular client (for translations inside the Time To Live (TTL) values for the old DNS translations, or pending a local cache flush on each client), or (and this is more common) confusion over authoritative DNS servers; you have your internal DNS configured as authoritative for the new www.example.com domain, and also authoritative for the old www.example.org domain, and your external DNS is also authoritative for (probably) both domains.  Internal requests get as far as the internal server, and get an authoritative translation (possibly being "no such host"), and don't go any further.
    Safari & Firefox present with 'Server not found' errors.
    So we are still stuck thus any further advice would be much appreciated.

  • [SOLVED] I can't get virtual hosts working. What's wrong?

    What I've decided to do is try to set up each domain name in the user folder to whom it belongs (for example: /home/username/somedomain.com/htdocs). I can't get it to work though. I keep getting an error saying that there's no index file (although there is) or that the location isn't readable (although it is). I'm trying to make it so that if the domain name matches with a virtual host section in httpd-vhosts.conf that a specific DocumentRoot will be loaded for that domain, etc. But, if the domain name points to my server but doesn't match, then I want the default location to work. I can't seem to make this work.

    And here's my httpd-vhosts.conf:

    So, for example, I want it to be so that if I visit http://45.117.5.40 that it'll show the stuff ftom /srv/http/default/htdocs but if the domain name matches somedomain.com then I want the server to show the content from /home/normaluser/somedomain.com/htdocs.
    What currently happens is that if I visit http://45.117.5.40 or somedomain.com, they both show the same content from /srv/http/default/htdocs.
    If I comment out the first VirtualHost section, then everything stops working and I see the default "Access forbidden!" message.
    What am I doing wrong?

    I fixed it. In case any newbs come across this, I had to add a new <Directory> section for the DocumentRoot of the virtual host. Simply adding the VirtualHost entry in the vhosts file isn't enough.
    For example, for the "somedomain.com" vhost in the example above to work, I added this to http.conf:
    #This must match with the same location as DocumentRoot in httpd-vhost.conf.
    <Directory "/home/normaluser/somedomain.com/htdocs">
    #Put whatever directives you want in here
    Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
    AllowOverride All
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    </Directory>
    Let me know if you need any clarification.

  • Virtual Host (localhost) + Wamp 2.1

    Hello
    I'm trying to test a local URL like xxxxx.localhost or loclahost / xxxxxxx
    This does not work.
    I read this post related to this topic:

    No change.

  • Corrupted wiki list with multiple virtual host

    Hello,
    I have several virtual hosts and I want each of them to only list of wikis which are associated with them using the Wiki Admin Settings -> Advanced : Specific Host Names.
    This does not seem to work. As soon as a wiki is associated to a specific virtual host it disappears from the list of wiki (http://hostname/groups/) (on all virtual hosts actually). The wiki itself can still be accessed by its explicit address: http:/hostname/groups/wikiname
    If I manually edit the sql3 file directoryIndex.db in /Library/Application Support/Apple/WikiServer
    and replace the specific host name by "*", the wiki reappears in the wiki list but on ALL virtual host. Still it remains accessible only in the one designated in the wiki Settings.
    Most frustrating. Any workaround ? Seems like a bug but the wiki implementation being so convoluted I am not completely sure.
    Any help ?
    Thanks
    Paul

    Also have used such configuration in some special cases where the customer has insisted on allow specific TCP/UDP ports between multiple networks. And nothing is stopping from adding ICMP into the "object-group service" also.

  • Oracle Portal Virtual Host Enhacement for Multiple Virtual Hosts

    I open the TAR Number: 4326752.996
    The TAR is related to " REQUEST ASSISTANCE FOR MULTIPLE VIRTUAL HOSTS AND MULTIPLE PAGE GROUPS CONFIG. "
    This is the Scenario: We Have Oracle Portal installed in a single Box. yes I know I know... but Not everybody is Yahoo or Google for Clusters and all the good stuff, we just want our website managed by Oracle Portal since all our ERP is running Oracle Database. Anyway. 1 Box running Oracle Portal Infrastructure and MidTier.
    It turns out that our previous configuration we have the LAMP Solution with PHP, Apache with Virtual Servers configuration very trivial for a regular web server however we have about 6 Virtual domains.
    For example:
    www.abc.com
    www.def.com
    www.ghi.com
    www.jkl.com
    www.mno.com
    www.pqr.com
    We also like to post all our Intranet Information in this great Portal:
    http://intranet.com
    Where intranet.com is the same server but setup in our Internal DNS without be a Real Internet Register Domain.
    So bottom line we start doing great with Install our single box install, later [GRRRRRR does not come by default in port 80 GRRRRRR, ok need to move and setup the virtual host to resolve our main External website www.abc.com ]
    For starters ok it worked we have our main website running Oracle Portal.
    Now is time to go to the step number 2.
    Setup another Page Group in Portal to be the Page_Group_INTERNAL.
    I figure if Apache can setup Virtual Hosts pointing to Independent parts of the File System without be shared. I was expecting some kind of custom configuration where I can setup httpd.conf to point to some specific PageGroups to make sure
    www.abc.com => Page_Group_External
    never share information with:
    intranet.com => Page_Gorup_Internal
    My TAR was very quick closed with the Argument that is not what It supposed to do.
    Since a virtual host is a common thing to do on Linux and Apache, I wonder if You guys could list this as one of the default features to have multiple virtual domains assosiated with Page Groups that they never talk or share Resources I think that would be really great.
    In the mean time I guess we have no option but to put a password for every internal page or take the risk of share our Information to the Internet. Perhaps designate another box with Oracle Portal but In that case Is not really cost/bennefit to use a killer technology for our external site since we just have no more than 30 pages.
    Anyway just figure drop you guys a note any advise will be really appreciated.
    Best Regards Dino.

    Hi Martin,
    1. To change the target URL of KM resources you can to the following:
    Access the URL Generation Service Configuration by navigating to:
    System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Configuration
    Content Management -> Global Services -> URL Generator Service
    Change the Host property to "portal.company.com".
    2. You change the Port by opening the Visual Administrator and going to : Dispatcher -> Services -> HTTP Provider
    Change there the "Ports" entry from (Port:50000,Type:http)to (Port:80,Type:http). Then go on "Save".
    3. To remove the "/irj" from the portal URL you can create a index.jsp with the following content, and save it in the J2EE Documentation folder:
    <Drive>:\usr\sap\<SAPSID>\JC<J2EE_instance_number>\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\com.sap.engine.docs.examples\servlet_jsp\_default\root
    <%
    //Send the redirect using server redirection (not client script)
    //This will also send the HTTP GET parameters
    String queryString = request.getQueryString() ;
    if (queryString==null ) {
    response.sendRedirect
    ("irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.navigation.portallauncher.default") ;
    } else {//redirect with HTTP GET parameters
    response.sendRedirect
    ("irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.navigation.portallauncher.default?" + queryString) ;
    %>
    Hope this helps,
    Robert

  • Wiki listed under other virtual hosts

    I have a wiki where under "Settings > Advanced" it is set to be restricted to a specific hostname. Using http://www.myhost.com/groups/mywiki I can access the wiki fine, and I see it listed when I go to http://www.myhost.com/groups/. If I try to access the wiki using a different hostname (e.g. http://www.otherhost.com/groups/mywiki ), I get a 404 error (so far so good). However, if, using this other hostname, I ask for a list of available wikis (i.e. http://www.otherhost.com/groups/) the wiki is listed there, even if I get a 404 when I click on it. Shouldn't the wiki be invisible? How do I make it so that the wikis under one virtual host are completely isolated from other virtual hosts?
    I have tried deleting and recreating the wiki; turning the Settings > Advanced on and off; etc etc. Same behavior each time.

    Ditto.
    I noticed it when logged in as a user with permissions to a specific wiki on the server, and went to 'My Page', that updates from all the other wikis on the server are listed, in addition to the updates for the wiki I belong to. I can't get to them by clicking on the links, but they show up in the list. Makes it pretty hard to focus on your wiki, when you see updates from multiple other wikis listed.
    It would seem like there must be a fix in the code for both the 'My Page' and the generic top-level '/groups', but I don't know the code structure well enough yet to figure out how/where to fix it.
    Anyone else find a solution for this? I don't think I can roll out multiple domains/wikis on one server, if this behavior is present.

    Hi Kevin,
    I think you have to set the query specification for the data provider you created. If you don't, no object is available (that'w why you received a such error).
    Best regards,

  • Virtual Hosts vs Localhost

    OK, I'm on about step #13 of Apple's virtual hosts enabling obstacle course, and I'm still confused. I've modified the httpd.conf, hosts and NetInfo files, and I can now preview the home page of ONE of my virtual host sites. The problem is that I see the page whether I type in http://localhost/, http://Geobop/, http://GW/ or http://GS/. It should preview only at http://Geobop/.
    I rediscovered the article Enabling Virtual Hosts on MacOS X at http://www.evolt.org/article/EnablingVirtual_Hosts_on_MacOSX/18/13138/
    and added a script to my httpd.conf file, as follows:
    # Leave this one alone - it makes sure that localhost works.
    <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1>
    DocumentRoot /Library/WebServer/Documents
    ServerName localhost
    </VirtualHost>
    #<VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:80>
    # ServerName geobop
    # ServerAdmin [email protected]
    # DocumentRoot /Users/MYNAME/Sites/Geobop
    #</VirtualHost>
    If I understand correctly, this is supposed to make http://localhost/ display something unique, rather than a local website. However, all the URL's I cited above still display the same thing...but this time around they display blank pages with columns of numerals along the left margin.
    In an earlier experiment, I deleted all my virtual hosts from httpd.conf. Then all these URL's displayed the following:
    Index of /
    Name Last modified Size Description
    [DIR] Parent Directory 13-Mar-2007 15:49 -
    [ ] index.php 06-Oct-2006 15:36 1k
    [ ] php5.fcgi 06-Oct-2006 18:18 1k
    [ ] phpMyAdmin-2.9.0.2.tar 06-Oct-2006 17:44 11.4M
    [ ] phpinfo.php 06-Oct-2006 15:20 1k
    [ ] phpinfo.php5 06-Oct-2006 18:20 1k
    Apache/1.3.33 Server at localhost Port 80
    Can someone tell me what's going on and how to fix it. This process was three times easier on my PC, though I hate Microsoft.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your explainations but it keeps frustrating me. I'll try to give an exact overview to my settings and my tries to implement your suggestions:
    Computer name: MacBook Pro
    Host: server.local
    Wi-Fi: 192.168.178.100 (static, as I said no DHCP)
    DNS-Settings:
    Forwarding Servers: 192.168.178.100
    Perform lookups for only some clients: "The server itself" and "Clients on the local network"
    Host name: server.local
    IP address: 192.168.178.100
    (no aliases)
    automatically created after setting this host name:
         Primary zone: server.local
         Machine: zone: server.local, host name: server.local, IP address: 192.168.178.100
         Nameserver: zone: server.local, Name-server: server.local
    Now I create a new host:
    Host name: thenewwebsite.site
    IP address: 192.168.178.100
    (no aliases)
    automatically created after setting this host name:
         Primary zone: thenewwebsite.site
         Machine: zone: thenewwebsite.site, host name: thenewwebsite.site, IP address: 192.168.178.100
         Nameserver: zone: thenewwebsite.site, Name-server: thenewwebsite.site
    Now going to "Web" service:
    hit the [+] button
    domain-name: thenewwebsite.site
    --> and it gives me the red bullet again saying it could not resolve this and trying to load "thenewwebsite.site" from the browser consequently fails.
    I also tried to set the machine-zone and the nameserver-zone for the thenewwebsite.site host to server.local - didn't changed anything, loading "thenewwebsite.site" fails.

  • Virtual host creation question

    I have two systems - "A" and "B", where "A" is the
    development system, and
    "B" is the php/Apache host. I'd like to have virtual servers
    configured
    that point back into the local sites on "A", but serve from
    "B".
    So, I edit A's hosts file to contain this -
    192.168.1.80 phphost
    (that's B's ip address)
    which works pretty well. Now, when I enter ''
    http://phphost'' from "A", I
    get the Apache default page. Then, on "B", I edit the Apache
    config file to
    enable virtual hosts, and add this line -
    <VirtualHost *:80>
    DocumentRoot "192.168.1.101/Documents and Settings/Murray R.
    Summers/My
    Documents/SCInc/wildimages/site2/"
    ServerName wild2
    </VirtualHost>
    (where 192.168.1.102 is the IP for "A")
    but that's not working. Can anyone tell me whether this
    scheme can work,
    and if so, where my mistake might be?
