PHP4: connect to oracle with ORA-12546 error

I have install the PHP4 + apache 1.3.12 on redhat 6.2, by recompile the apache and php packages.
Fortunately, the apache can startup. But when I run the program as below:
PutEnv("ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/product/release");
PutEnv("ORACLE_SID=orcl");
$a=ocilogon("scott","tiger");
ocilogoff($a);
I get a error message:
Warning: ociopen_server: Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12546 in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/ora.php on line 5
I checked the system very carefully, I can use "sqlplus scott/tiger@orcl" connect to the database, I can also use the SQLnavigator connect the database from other machine.
Could any kind people help me to solute this problem.
Thanks a lot.

OK or try $a=ocilogon("scott","tiger","orcl"); or $a=ocilogon("scott","tiger","address of database server{localhost});

  • Error with Connection to Oracle with Wallet , JDBC, and UNIX

    Hello - our application has been getting this error periodically while connecting to an oracle database using OCI JDBC drivers.
    caused by: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-28759: failure to open file
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwsSqlException(DatabaseError.java:125)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CConnection.checkError(T2CConnection.java:681)
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CConennection.logon(T2CConnection.java :362)

    at oracle.jdbc.driver.T2CDriverExtension.getConnection
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.connect
    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection
    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection
    Once we get this error we keep getting it and are unable to get a connection until we restart it. the file it has the issue with is the cwallet.sso, which I figured out by turning on tracing. The file is there and it gets the connection originally - but for some reason periodically we lose access to that file. But when we get the error the file is there and when we restart the process it's perfectly fine.
    The only way we have been able to replicate this error is by create a sameple JAVA app which just keeps opening connections to the database with the wallet without closing the connections. Everytime we hit the 50th connection that error appears and it's unable to get another connection. If we close the connections everytime it's alright.
    It's not a limit on the amount of connections to oracle because we have no limit set. The best explaination we can find is that unix has some sort of limit on how many concurrent accesses to that file can be done within one process. We have been unable to figure out that limit. We tried playing around with the file descriptor limits to see if it gets more or less then 50, but no luck.
    If anyone has any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated - we are stuck right now.
    Thanks!

    No suggestions?

  • ORA-12546 error

    I'm running Oracle 9i on a Windows platform. Using SQL Plus, I have no problem connecting as SYS. But when I try logging in using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), I keep getting the error: ORA-12546: TNS permission denied.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I have exactly the same problem installing Oracle on a Windows Server 2003 X64 Enterprise Edition. I have Intel Xeon processors (EM64T).
    I tried to install Oracle for 64 bits, but it didn't work. Now I'm trying to install 32 bits version of Oracle, and I get the same error and the same problem, mentioned above.
    Can anyone help us, I can't figure out a way to solve it. I don't know if Oracle for 32 bits is not compatible with that version of Windows, even if it is supposed to be.
    Thanks!!!!

  • Trying to simply connect to Oracle with VBscript/ASP - and I cannot.

    This is rather embarrassing. I am pretty fluent with ASP and VBscript, and I have written many a web application connecting to Microsoft SQL Server. Now I have a need to connect to an Oracle database, and I'm beating my head against the wall.
    1) Web server is Windows Server 2003 SP1
    2) Using ASP (not ASP.NET) & VBscript
    3) I have installed the Oracle drivers on the server - it is version 10g
    4) The administrator of the Oracle database to which I want to connect has created a username and password for me to use from within my code
    5) Here is the code I am trying to run:
    Set objConn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    objConn.Open "Provider=MSDAORA;Data Source=XXXXXXX;User Id=YYYYYYY;Password=ZZZZZZZ;"
    That's it. 2 lines of code just trying to establish a connection. Using the user name and password provided to me by the administrator, and for Data Source I am using the IP address of the Oracle server (like I have done in the past when connecting to SQL Server). I receive the following error message when viewing this in a browser:
    Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle error '80004005'
    ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    Evidently, the Data Source I am using is not correct, but I was provided no other information from the admin. This is the first time any of us have tried to connect to Oracle using ASP/VBScript, so the administrator isn't sure what I need to do ... any help would be so appreciated.

    Hello,
    I got mine to work by setting up an ODBC System DSN and connecting to it. I think this bypasses the Microsoft driver, which might be what's causing the problem.
    Set Db = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
    Db.Open "DSN=TEST;User ID=userid;Password=password;"
    Good luck, I've found it requires a lot of persistence...

  • ORA-12546 error during installation of 9.2.0.1 on Windows 2003 Server

    I have encountered an error whilst installing oracle 9.2.0.1 on a Windows 2003 Server. The error appears in the final part of the installation, when the Database Configuration Assistant is performing some work - it reaches the part where it creates the database instance - here we get the "ORA-12546: TNS Permission denied" error - this part of the installation is marked as failed - i can retry it as many times as i want but the same thing happens. If i finish the installation (even though the error has occurred) the oracle installation doesn't really work . I can't open the Database Configuration Assistant and don't really have a sysdba user. However all the services seem to be running fine (even the tns listener)
    I was wondering whether it could be a problem that would be solved with the 9.2.0.3 patch - but this patch assumes that you have performed a proper working installation of 9.2.0.1, so I'm not quite convinced that the problem is related to the oracle version.
    I've read other threads where the problem has been read/write privileges on some files and folders, but this shouldn't be an issue when I'm logged onto the machine as a local administrator.
    The install.log files don't really provide any extra information.

    Hi,
    It seems that you have got a problematic disk there. There might be a problem with the disk that the datafile resides on since you are receiving I/O errors. Moreoever, there might be a problem with the CSS. check that all the process of cluster are running.

    Hi,
    Have you verified if your DBMS_AQ environment has been corrupted? If so, then you'll have to drop and recreate a number of queue related objects all over again. Furthermore, ORA-00942 appears to be the main problem as it is a case sensitivity error. You should change the table names to UPPERCASE and then try again.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Naveed.

  • SAP BW with ORA-04031 Errors

    Hello All,
    Context:
    We have a financial closing system working in the BW 3.5 and Oracle 9.2.0.7.0.
    We are working with more than 100 millions records in 3 days.
    In general, the system uses the standard data marts and BPS processes (copy, distribution, etc).
    Error:
    We had a lot of ORA-04031 errors for all execution (ABAP Programs, Data Loads, BPS Executions), it stopped the environment.
    We did the "stop/start" the server to solved the problem.
    The basis team increase the parameter "shared_pool_size" = 3000M - We saw the SAP Note (690241) and which is more than enough.
    We have fear about it, we think it is posible to occurs again.
    This is a big impact for the business.
    Have you got this error in the past?
    Could you please help us.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi Chandran,
    We saw this note.
    The basis team have been changed the KGHDSIDXCOUNT parameter ( 4 to 1).
    I am not founding more causes for this problem in the note.
    Is it posible to have problems if the DB_CACHE_SIZE parameter is very large? example 18000M?
    The basis team reduces the value for 1700M, in the last shutdown.
    How can I flush the memory automatically?
    The basis team reported this error for us. "It is not posible to flush the memory, it is necessary to shutdown the server".
    Is it posible for the oracle 9i manage the memory area (shared pool) automatically? Is it recommended? Have you got this experience?
    We have seen two notes about it:
    997889 --> "Increase the memory SGA the ocurrence of error ORA-04031 but it does not prevent it."
    617416 --> "The following areas of the SGA can be changed dynamically with Oracle 9.2 if the SGA is configured dynamically: Buffer Cache, Shared Pool, Large Pool."
    Thanks a lot.
    Best regards,

    Hi all,
    I got a problem with ORA-28000 in my form. In my app, it allows user to try maximum 3 time to logon, if the user fails, his/her user will be locked. The problem is, when Oracle locked that user, in on-error trigger I cannot catch that error and show the error message.

  • ORACLE XE ora-12514 error

    Hi all,
    I have installed the oracle xe in my windows xp machine. for some reason i have shut down the oracle and given "startup restrict" mode, but it is thrown the below mentioned error
    "SQL> startup restrict;
    ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect
    descriptor"
    please help me.
    Thanks

    The reason why this error shows is because oracle is self-registered against listener, so when it shuts down the listener deregisters the instance and any further attempt to contact it will result in an ORA-12514 error.
    Once the instance is restarted it will contact again the listener and will registers against it once more. This process will take no more than 60 seconds, but you can force it by issuing the command:
    ALTER SYSTEM REGISTER;

  • Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-02002: error writing to audit_t

    I have a 4 node cluster and getting this alert very ferquently...
    checking audit_trail gives this error
    SQL> select count(*) from dba_audit_trail
    2 ;
    select count(*) from dba_audit_trail
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01115: IO error reading block from file 1 (block # 108673)
    ORA-01110: data file 1: '+DG_PROD/ngprod/datafile/system.258.665846277'
    ORA-15081: failed to submit an I/O operation to a disk
    Documentation on error says.........
    ORA-02002: error while writing to audit trail
    Cause: The auditing facility is unable to write to the AUDIT_TRAIL table. If this error occurs, SQL statements that are currently being audited may also fail. This error will occur if the SYSTEM tablespace runs out of disk space.
    Action: Add space to the SYSTEM tablespace or delete rows from the AUDIT_TRAIL table. If these operations fail or do not eliminate the problem, shut down and restart Oracle with auditing disabled. This is done by setting the initialization parameter AUDIT_TRAIL to FALSE.
    How should I check the system tablespaces ...I'm getting the error....and moreover they are autoextendible....Any idea about the issue

    You can check the space available in any tablespace with a query from dba_free_space;
    Give serious consideration to moving AUD$ out of the system tablespace. Theoretically you can not do this prior to database 11.1.0.7 (where you can use the built-in package DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT.MOVE_DBAUDIT_TABLES). But if you open an SR at metalink they will instruct you to do it manually which keeps everything legal and supported.

    Also look into using resumable transactions (DBMS_RESUMABLE) to keep these things from happening in the future.

  • How do I connect to Oracle with JDBC using "dedicated processor".

    Because of performance problems we want to try to connect to

    does anybody know what we need to set up in order to utilize
