    In BC4J-UIX wizard based forms there exists a button to Insert new rows. In the UIX-JSP wizard based forms there is not. Is this an option I overlooked somewhere or does this need to be hand coded? Detailed instructions on how to implemnt the Insert row capability in UIX-JSP are appreciated.

    Ed. Ed -
    I'm a bit confused by your reference to the BC4J-UIX and UIX-JSP wizards. There is a 'new' link in wizard-generated
    BC4J JSPs and a 'Create' button in wizard-generated UIX JSP browse/edit forms. Is this what you mean?

  • What is the best way of deploying a jsp and bc4j aplication

    Hi
    I would like to know what is the best way of deploying a jsp and
    bc4j aplication in ias 9i.

    In the page I simply referenced the facescontext directly... no need for a custom servlet.
    public void createcookie() {
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    HttpServletResponse resp = (HttpServletResponse)fc.getExternalContext().getResponse();
    Cookie userCookie = new Cookie("cookiename", "cookievalue");
    userCookie.setMaxAge(-1);
    userCookie.setMaxAge(3600);
    resp.addCookie(userCookie);
    return null;
    public String readcookie() {
    FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    ExternalContext ec = fc.getExternalContext();
    Map cookiemap = ec.getRequestCookieMap();
    if (cookiemap != null) {
    Cookie cookie = (Cookie) cookiemap.get("cookievalue");
    return cookievalue;
    For reference I could not get getCookies() method of HttpServletRequest to work.. it would only return JSESSIONID.

    Hi Mike,
    Thanks for your reply.
    In the Emp form, it would look like:
    Emp Name, Emp BirthDate, ... Dept No.
    I would like a list available on the Dept No item (field), which lists the DEPT records when insert/create a new EMP record, i.e. this list helps to fill the DEPTNO instead of typing the key, like 1234, manually. Would Jdev do it for me? or I have to manually code this after I get the code from "new->Web-tier->jsp4BizComponents->CompleteJSP Application"
    Thanks

  • Error using uix wizard for bc4j connection

    I have been trying for days to get a connection to the database using uix and bc4j. When I use the wizard to create one I get this error:
    Servlet error: Renderer failed: oracle.jbo.common.ampool.ApplicationPoolException: JBO-30003: The application pool (rola2.Rola2Module.Rola2ModuleLocal) failed to checkout an application module due to the following exception:
    this is all it says.. nothing else..
    how can I get it to work? what module is having the problem?
    the bc4j seems to look correct, I see the views it created.
    send me an email if you read this and know what the error means. I don' seem to be able to find my posts after a day or too.

    Are you working with UIX XML or UIX JSP?

    Hi all developers,
    This is my first forum message, and I hope that there is someone that can help me.
    Problem: A JClient using BC4J in a 3tier situation work perfectly well when run from within the IDE, however using the Web Start Wizard and deployed to the Application server and run from Java Web Start, it does not work.
    Is there any HowTo or documentation on the right settings, roles, security, procedures, etc. with regard to Jclient, BC4J and Java WebStart?

  • JSP wizard pops up at random

    While editing JSP pages in JDeveloper 3.2.2 sometimes the JSP wizard pops up out of the blue. Sometimes I can cancel and continue, at other times all keys except the alphabetic keys are disabled, I have to quit JDeveloper and restart it to continue. Any idea why this is happening?

    This is most likely a Keyboard Error.
    Keys may be stuck, Dirty, spills, old, etc.
    Whenever I have had such issues, it has been a keyboard problem.
    For example, the JSP Element Wizard, can invoked in several ways including:
    Main Menu: Wizards | JSP Element ...
    Alt - i - s
    Context Menu | JSP Element
    Properties Key - J
    The properties key is the key on the right side of your keyboard next to the Control and Windows Keys.
    Thus if you accidentally press the
    properties key and J fast, you will
    not see the menu and see the wizard
    directly.
    Thus accidentally pressing the properties key and any other key will launch the appropriate tool found on the properties key.
    I have had several keyboards in the past with various keys stuck (e.g. Alt - Shift ).
    Please be sure you are not pressing the properties key and / or try a different keyboard and see if it helps.

  • Strut tile definition and bc4j

    Hi ,
    I am working on a BC4j Struts based project.I was on my way to implement tile definition thru a xml file and implementing do action forwards,for ex welcome.do,viewreport.do.For doing this I had to change the controller entry in struts-config.xml from
    <controller debug="3" locale="true" processorClass="oracle.jbo.html.struts11.BC4JRequestProcessor" contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"/>
    to
    <controller processorClass="org.apache.struts.tiles.TilesRequestProcessor" contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"/
    after I did this the actions I had implemented myself with to work with tile defs,they are working fine ,but there were some other actions(as I started with a wizard created bc4j strut app) which are bc4j related have stopped working because BC4JRequestProcessor was no more
    defined as the request processor....
    How to solve this?How to make both strut actions and bc4j actions work inside a project...can 2 request processors be used at the same time...
    can anybody help??

  • Bug Create JSP Wizard

    In JDeveloper 11g Technology Preview 3 and 4 the Create JSP Wizard does not have the option to add tag libraries, set Error Page, HTML version as JDeveloper 10.1.3 does.

    Without the Create JSP Wizard, the tag libraries have to be added to the JSP file and the tag libraries JAR files copied to the WEB-INF/lib directory. In 10.1.3 the tag librariry declarations get added and the JAR files get copied if a tag library is selected in the Create JSP Wizard. Also the error page gets specified in 10.1.3.

  • Create JSP Wizard Bug

    JDeveloper 11g does not provide a Create JSP wizard, with a provision to add tag libraries to a JSP page, as JDeveloper 10g does. If tag libraries
    are required, the tag libraries have to be added after creating the jsp page and also the tag library JAR files have to be copied to the WEB-INF/lib directory.

    A project containing JSPs and servlets is a web project. But, the create application wizard does not have the provision to add tag libraries.
    Create application with File>New. Categories>Applications and Items>Generic Application. Specify Application Name in Create Generic Application and Next.
    In Name your Generic project select JSP and Servlets Project technologies. But, tag libraries are not provided.
    Even if the Web Project template is selected, the project does not include the tag library JAR files in the WEB-INF/lib directory. Also if a JSP is added to a Web Project,
    the JSP does not contain the tag library directives.
    The following features are requested to be added:
    1. When a project is created with the Web Project template the WEB-INF/lib directory should contain the tag library JAR files, which are required to run the web application in a server other than the integrated WebLogic server.
    2. When a JSP is added to a Web Project template project the JSP should contain the tag library directives for the tag libraries in the Web Project. Even if the Add Jsp Page option is selected while creating the Web Project, the tag library directives are not added to the JSP page.
    3. The tag libraries should also be available for other project technologies such as JSP and Servlets and JSP for Business Components that may include tag libraries.

  • OC4J and BC4J Runtime installation for Solaris (Unix)!

    We have successfully installed, configured and deployed JSP/BC4J apps using OC4J and BC4J on Windows NT/2000. However, our production environment is Solaris.
    We have installed OC4J on Solaris, with some difficulties. How/where is the installation process for the BC4J Runtime Installation? The download (bc4j-ojsp.zip) for this utility is Windows only.
    Is there a method or process to install BC4J Runtime on Unix? If not, we are stuck.
    We cannot use JServ (servlet limitations) and refuse to use OSE (to many issues).
    Any guidance or assistance would be greatly appreciated...

    Stephan,
    I have located multiple "connections" files and will remove all but the default located in the OC4J classes directory. We have been developing with JDeveloper and it often created multiple connections files that appear when you "jar" project components.
    We also installed JDK1.2.2_008 and are using this. However, when I use the classpath method of starting OC4J, I receive numerous errors. Using the jar method, everything works, with the exception of BC4J apps. I'll have to look into the errors more.
    Thanks for the response. At least I know one other person (organization) is using this successfully. I hope to join the "success" crowd tomorrow!
    Thanks again...

  • UIX/XML and BC4J -- practical???

    Has anyone actually used UIX/XML and BC4J to develop a "real" application? The majority of the examples in the help screens use jsp's, yet the comparisons I've read in the help screens seem to indicate that XML is more flexible.
    UIX/XML seems like such a clever concept, I like the idea, but it's getting the best of me. Should I jump ship now?
    Any comments please!
    js

    Examples are definitely what's needed and I put my request for a full blown MVC application using UIX/XML (without BC4J in my case) to Adam a while ago which was forwarded to the 'management'. Hopefully something will come from this soon. I agree with Janet that UIX is a great concept (don't jump ship yet!) and it should save us so much work but that real world examples would surely help us all. No disrespect, Juan, but you regularly respond to people's questions with 'Have you read the UIX developer's guide provided in the documentation' - we've all read the documentation many times, if only it were that simple! I'm sure it's easier for someone inside Oracle to get the answers they need whereas we on the 'outside' have to rely on this forum for now which is a struggle.
    Bill's idea of illustrations would be great, though I'd like to see the examples relate to the sample screens show on the BLAF standards website. I only found out about the BLAF website accidentally through this forum. The UIX Developer's Guide should explicity reference this as I've found it extremely useful.
    Ed,
    The UIX Developer's Guide is in the JDeveloper Help.

  • What is the difference between jsp :include and server side include

    what is the difference between jsp :include and server side include(request dispatcher include method)????
    i understand that both request dispatcher include method and jsp:include take dynamic data,so when would one use request dispatcher include and when jsp:include.
    Is the usage interchangeable?i believe jsp include is used only for jsp/html but include directive can be used to include servlets ,jsp and html....correct me if i m wrong and
    do suggest if u hav ny other diff in this context...

    The difference really is: in what format do you want your inclusions? If your environment has many Java developers and only a few designers that focus mainly on, say, Flash, that might push you more towards the server-side include() directive. Or, if you have a large set of pages that receive dynamic content that is displayed in a consistent fashion (such as a workflow header area on a page).
    If, on the other hand, you have more web designers, there may be a greater desire to deal in markup rather than Java code. Java developers themselves might prefer to view markup (JSP) that more resembles the eventual output than something occuring in Java code.
    Finally, there are considerations of tiering. While it is totally possible to (and I have previously) implement 'view classes' that render markup or generate layout templates, JSP's offer, IMO, a subtle, psychological advantage. By forcing a developer to work in a different format, markup versus Java source, the separation on view from controller and model becomes a bit easier. It is still possible to make mistakes, but if a developer at some point notices, "Wait, I'm in a JSP, should I be importing a java.sql class?", then the choice to use JSP includes has paid off in spades.

  • How can I stop the execution on a JSP page and start it again

    Hi
    I am making a program that simulates how to manage transactions when accessing a database by using locks. I have run into a problem and I hope someone has the time to help me.
    When a user does an update the transaction commits and releases its locks when the program executes
    <%stmt.executeUpdate("commit!"); %>
    I need to put a break in to stop the program executing this statement, to illustrate the lock is set correctly.
    I have tried to put in an alert box but this does not prevent the rest of the java code being executed.
    I have tried to use prompt boxes, JavaScript functions, but these functions cannot have any java code in them.
    I have tried using the java.swing JOptionPane boxes but this didn?t work either
    I have tried to get input from the user but I don?t know how to retrieve this data on the same page. (As far as I know you have to use submit and even refresh the page or retrieve it on the next page).
    Does anyone know how I can stop the execution on a JSP page and start it again (on same page)
    Mette

    I already have another client (Tomcat jsp application) running and it throws a SQLException correctly when I dont put in a commit=true statement and don't close the database connection.
    But the problem is how to get the code above to stop to illustrate I have set this lock.
    I have tried to use the JOptionPane but because my program is running in a web browser I cannot use the JOptionPane dialog box.
    I have tired using an alert box but it executes the commit statement before the alert box is dispayed. So this does not work
    While (i < 2)
    if( i==1)
    %>alert(The transactions commits when you press Ok); <% //what it to stop execution here
    else
    stmt.executeUpdate(commit);
    I am not using threads so I cannot use the sleep function.
    I am using mysql and have already configured it to detect deadlocks and how long to wait for locks.
    Thanks for your help

  • How to delete help button in the wizard and dialogs.

    Hello,
    I am trying to delete the Help button in the wizard and dialogs provided by bibeans and having problems. Can someone give me an advise regarding the following three issues please? Thank you.

    1)Deleting the Help Button from the Print Dialog.
    I'm using "oracle.dss.dataView.gui.PrintDialog" for the Print Dialog and this class has method to delete the Help button(setHelpEnabled(Boolean)).
    But, the Help button is always displayed even when I set false for this method like below.
    PrintDialog.setHelpEnabled(false);
    2) Deleting the Help button from Open Dialog and BI Explorer.
    I am using "PersistenceObjectChooser" class for Open Dialog and "Explorer" class for BI Explorer. But, these classes does not have a method to delete the Help button like the PringDialog class has. How can I delete the Help button for these dialogs?
    3) Deleting the Help button from Calculation Builder.
    I am using "CalcBuilderStepStorage" class to build a calculation and trying to delete the Help button like this.
    ((DefultBuilderDialog)calcBuilderStepStorage.getContainer()).getWizard().setHelpAvailable(false);
    But, again the Help button will be displayed
