Picklist questions - Web Services

We would like to get the valid values of certain picklists and move them (refresh daily for instance) to our MySQL DB to validate prior to inserting in CRMOD.
1) Can we get only valid values when we do our WS call? If so, how and can it be done using WS1.0 and WS2.0? I tried exporting all picklists and it appears that all values are exported, not only the valid ones.
2) Since some values are entered on French Websites, we would also like to validate if French values are valid. Is there a way using WS to get the valid French values as well? If so, how and can it be done using WS1.0 and WS2.0? In the export, translated terms don't show.
Thanks.

From what I can see when I export, two users (one with language = French and the other with language = English) would be required to get all values for both languages. Then, there seems to be no way to "connect" both - no common Id that I can see when I export the data. How could we use Web services to get all French and all English values in a same table, allowing us to map one to the other?

  • Amazon Store Packaged App Question - Web Service

    Hi!
    I was very excited when I saw the Amazon Store packaged app! It's exactly what I need for a venture of mine, but unfortunately the packaged app is not working.
    I get the following error:
    <?xml version="1.0"?> <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:aws="http://webservices.amazon.com/AWSFault/2005-15-09"><SOAP-ENV:Body><SOAP-ENV:Fault><faultcode>aws:Client.MissingParameter</faultcode><faultstring>The request must contain the parameter Signature.</faultstring><detail><aws:RequestId xmlns:aws="http://webservices.amazon.com/AWSFault/2005-15-09">69ae79fc-d6d2-41ed-a451-763974b95bf3</aws:RequestId></detail></SOAP-ENV:Fault></SOAP-ENV:Body></SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    I know why: apparrently Amazon changed the authentication method, and the answer lies somewhere here:
    http://docs.amazonwebservices.com/AWSECommerceService/latest/DG/index.html?RequestAuthenticationArticle.html
    I have created and downloaded my private key file and X.509 certificate file, but am not sure where to make the rest of the changes they describe.
    Can anybody help? Is the original creator of Amazon Store anywhere out there?
    Many thanks in advance for any help! You have NO IDEA what a huge help it would be for me to get this working!!!

    Hi,
    According to your description, I am afraid your problem is out of support in windows store app. Apache is a  third party web service. We cannot support it.

  • How Web Services support transactions ?

    Hello,
    I have this questions:
    - Web services support statefull?
    - There is some specification about 2PhaseCommit for Web Services?
    - How Web services handle transactions (commit, rollback)?
    - How can I handle commit across multiple systems (using web services)?
    There are standards that support this topics?
    Best regards,
    Luis Carlos

    Yes and no. <a href="http://www.w3.org/Protocols/rfc2109/rfc2109.txt">rfc2109</a> . This means that cookies provide a kind of session and therefore state, which can be hold on server side.
    SAP ABAP ERP holds session:
    <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/b7/d7baaf1481a349ab723e3acd7334b3/frameset.htm">Providing and Consuming Web Services</a>
    "WSDLs - There are two kinds of WSDLs – Standard and SAP WSDL. The standard WSDL is provided for those users who will use tools from other vendors to create clients. For SAP users, there is an extended SAP WSDL. This is an extended version of WSDL and can be parsed using SAP tools (SAP Proxy Generator), thus providing information about additional Web service requirements such as authentication, session, and so on."
    for me is also the technical implementation - how is the webservice session managed on server and on client -  not totally clear. If someone can help me to find exaxct technical details. Unfortenately I also always used it (esp. with Web Dynpro) without thinking about details.

  • Web Service Security Question

    I have created a web service in the NetWeaver portal using a Portal Service.  I have marked the service as requiring basic http authentication.  However, when I call the web service from the Enterprise Portal Web Services Checker in NWDS it just let's me supply the params of the web service and no authentication.  Any ideas?
    I also noticed that my web service does not appear under the Web Services Container or Web Services Security section in Visual Administrator.  Anybody have any idea why this is?
    Thanks in advance.
    Curtis

    Hi Curtis,
    My guess is that since you are logged into the Portal while calling this web service, it will use the current session cookie to authenticate automatically. I'm not sure on the second question, tried a restart?

  • Questions on web services in the CRM system from abap

    Hi, we are new to consuming web services within the abap engine and have a couple of questions
    When we consume the webservice do we have access to the web.xml and ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptors is there a standard servicref element
    Are these descriptors editable so we can add JAX/RPC client side messages to the service ref element
    What are all the versions also as I can't seem to find any info also any documentation on the above if it exists would be greatly appreciated
    Cheers,
    Devlin

    Hi Devlin,
    When you can consume the services with CAF core or deployable proxies within Netweaver04s, you are able to see the web.xml and the ejb-jar.xml deployment descriptors.
    For Comsuming services within ABAP,this doc shoukd serve the purpose,
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/6066fbe8-edc4-2910-9584-a9601649747d
    This doc shows how to provide and conmsume services in ABAP,

    Also I found an old doc which talks about consuming in Netwaever,probably throws somelight on deployable proxies.

  • PL/SQL web service: question about stub

    hello,
    I'm currently learning how to work with PL/SQL Web Services.
    I have a question about stubs. The point is, I can deploy a web service to the OC4J server and it works. It also works when I create a stub following the WSDL I made with creating the PL/SQL web service. If I go to the endpoint in my webbrowser, the functionality is the same, with or without using a stub.
    My question is: what is the function of the stub?

    A stub is leveraged by a client application to communicate with a corresponding server side object (in this case, the web service implementation). If you think back to CORBA or RMI applications they follow a similar pattern.
    In the case of a web service you would use the stub to write a client application that could invoke the methods of the remote service and return the responses as java data types. The methods the stub class offers are the same as the methods of the web service interface. It's a common way for providing RPC like functionality.

  • Questions about SPML Web Service ( OIM 9.1 )

    I need to launch a provisioning process on a target by using a generic connector (Web Service).
    Scenario:
    ==========
    Host A is where the OIM server is installed. A generic connector is defined here.
    Host B is the target where users must be created. A webservice (axis) is installed here.
    Requirements:
    ===========
    OIM server (Host A) sends a request to WebService (Host B). The Web service receives, process and sends a response with the result to the OIM server.
    Version 9.0.3
    ==============
    On Version 9.0.3 I got the expected results but a problem appeared: there wasn't feedback error control because the web service response could'nt be processed.
    I followed the next steps:
    1º deploy axis on application server
    2º write SendWSResponse.jws including public method "doProvisioning". Copy this file to ..\server\default\deploy\axis.war\
    3º compile SendWSResponse.jws (from a browser)
    4º Create generic connector (for reconciliation and provisioning). Definition of parameters and mappings.
    Note: In 9.0.3 version only three parameters were required for Web Service Definition:
    Web Service URL=http://host:8080/axis/SendWSResponse.jws
    Operation Name = doProvisioning
    SPML-->Target ID=4201
    Version 9.1
    ==============
    On the new version, the connector definition is more complicated. Also they have added an ear-application or web service (OIMSpmlWS) related to this connector .
    The first question is:
    Is this ear-application addressed to process the reponses that are sent by the target?
    The second question is:
    Must I install the OIMSpmlWS on Host B? and if the answer is affirmative, how can I include the logic to my provisioning process.
    And the most important?
    How might the connector be configured and the webServices in this usual scenario?
    Many thanks in advance

    There is no "sample" WSDL file, there is THE WSDL file. It is located in the OIMSpmlWS.ear EAR file, in spmlws.war WAR file in the directory WEB-INF/wsdl.

  • Designer beginner's question: How to populate form with XML web service output?

    sorry, here is yet another Adobe Designer beginners question: <br /><br />My form uses a webservice data connection which returns <br />an xml-string like this: <br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?> <br /><CurrentWeather> <br />  <Location>Sion, Switzerland (LSGS) 46-13N 007-20E 481M</Location> <br />  <Time>Apr 26, 2007 - 09:50 AM EDT / 2007.04.26 1350 UTC</Time> <br />  <Wind> from the WSW (240 degrees) at 15 MPH (13 KT):0</Wind> <br />  <Visibility> greater than 7 mile(s):0</Visibility> <br />  <SkyConditions> partly cloudy</SkyConditions> <br />  <Temperature> 80 F (27 C)</Temperature> <br />  <DewPoint> 46 F (8 C) </DewPoint> <br />  <RelativeHumidity> 30%</RelativeHumidity> <br />  <Pressure> 29.88 in. Hg (1012 hPa)</Pressure> <br />  <Status>Success</Status> <br /></CurrentWeather> <br /><br />What is the simplest and recommended way to extract the <br />element fields to my form? <br /><br />Thank you very much an kind regards, <br />Hans Grund

    The question is still unanswered!
    Let me give some details and break up the problem
    in more specific questions:
    - In Designer 8.1 I click new data binding --> wsdl -->
    http://www.webservicex.net/globalweather.asmx?wsdl
    A message box comes up and says "cannot load wsdl file"
    ==> 1. Question:
    Why maybe refuses Designer to load the http-wsdl,
    although this option is explicitly allowed?
    - When I save the wsdl to a file, Designer loads it
    without any problems. The web service uses two input parameters
    (CountryName and CityName) and returns an xml-string GetWeatherResult)
    like the one in my first posting. I drag these fields from the binding view to my form, and it runs ok!
    - THE PROBLEM IS, THAT I NEET TO EXTRACT THE ELEMENT FIELDS
    FROM THE RESULT XML-STRING!
    ==> 2. Question:
    How to extract xml element fields from wsdl output into a form?
    - I tried with eclipse and XmlSpy to build a modified wsdl file
    with structured output definition, so that the specific element fields
    show up in the data binding view and are usable to my form,
    and the modified wsdl maps consistently to the web service result string.
    So far without success: In the PDF -preview or Reader-
    when the wsdl-binding is executed and the web service output
    should show up in the result fields, just nothing happens.
    ==> 3. Question:
    Can this strategy to provide a "modified wsdl" possibly succeed,
    and how?
    ==> 4. Question:
    Is is possible -and how?- to check whether an xml string
    is valid as web service output against the wsdl-definition?
    ==> 5. Question:
    How to debug a web service connection with Designer?
    - Finally I tried to find a way to load the result xml-string
    into a local var in the script editor and parse it, much like:
    var xmlDoc = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM");
    xmlDoc.load(DataSet.MyForm.GetWeatherResult.rawValue);
    ==> 6. Question:
    Is it possible -and how?- to use a framework like dotnet?
    How to utilize SAX or DOM in Designer?
    Many thanks and appreciations for your help!!

  • Questions about web services and BPEL in ALBPM

    Hi all,
    We are currently evaluating various BPM products in order to decide which one to use. Currently I am evaluating ALBPM Studio 5.7 and I am running my processes on the embedded engine provided with the studio. I have some questions:
    1. We want to be able to use complex types for the web services that are generated for processes. Will this limitation be solved any time in the future?
    2. We want to be able to use the generated web services directly (that is, without calling the startSession method first). Is that possible?
    3. I could not find extensive documentation about developing BPEL processes. There is only one small chapter in the developer documentation about BPEL processes. Is there any more documentation or sample about how BPEL is used in ALBPM?
    4. I have developed a very simple BPEL process, but when I try to deploy it, I get the error "Activity BPEL receive does not have any incoming transitions". How can I resolve this issue? I guess it may be a problem about my PartnerLink definition.
    5. When I try to catalog a wsdl which imports another wsdl (and when the imported wsdl also imports some xsds from another namespace), I get an error which says that a web service xxx with namespace yyy is not found, but actually the thing named xxx is not a web service but a soap fault. What could be the problem?
    6. Is it possible to write a BP method in PBL for a BPEL activity?
    Thanks in advance and best regards..

  • Web Services General Question

    Hi All,
    Does web services in Java mean to simply provide a SOAP container that wraps around an EJB (or even a web container)?
    If this is true, all of the work that's been done with the development of EJBs can be preserved, and other system will make calls to the SOAP container in order to get access to the web services provided.
    I'm trying to understand the big picture and slowly get into Web Services in Java.
    Thanks

    I dont know if this answers your question, but I think that SOAP indeed can be used to expose existing EJBs to non-Java-Systems.

  • Newbie question to java web services....

    hi,
    I used to be a .net programmer for a few years, and am have done web services in .net.... (using IIS, of course)
    And i moved onto Java side recently - and am pretty new to tomcat / axis..etc..
    I looked at the netbeans ide tutorial, and it covered on how to create a web services and a client using the IDE - with that is with the sun app server. Since I want to stick with Tomcat (which is a servlet container, i believe), the compilation complained that the HelloWSImpl.java is not a servlet, and will not let me run the web app. I have tried the WSDP 2.0 tutorial as well, but I first got the FastSetsource.jar not found? Then I got some other classes not found..etc... so, until now - i still am not able to create a web service, and a cliet to talk back and forth.
    I have the following questions..
    1. I am confused that how come tomcat itself is already a webserver, why would people use it on top of apache http server, which is another web server?
    2. To create a web services, (I am thinking of the .net web services that i have done - that once you deploy it with IIS, and you browse to that service, if the function takes 2 parameter, there will be 2 textboxes waiting for you to put data to, then once you post - the xml response will come back...), does java allow front end interface automatically like that in .net? Or you have to code the JSP pages to include those textboxes yourself, and do a manual post to the web services address?
    3. Are there any book out there, explains how to use tomcat for webservices? I have looked thru some of the java books that talks about web services, they mainly explain what webservices are, what is xml..etc... and of course, they did talk about the differenct type of messaging format available. (JAX-RPC..etc..)
    4. In the java world - how do you use webservices? Is it the same way that i am familiar with? Like, that we have a front end gui, that it will call the web services, pass it a few param, and get the xml result back, and parse it and display / store.. it? Or that is not the correct way to consume the web services in java world?
    5. In .net - as long as i have the .net framework sdk, and a IIS - i am good to go. In java - what do i need in order to deploy a web services?? I already have tomcat / jdk / wsdp / IDE - do i have enough to create a simple ws? if so, can you show me a basic tutorial??
    based on some reading, i understand that the ws on the service side, needs an SEI implementing java.rmi.remote, and we need another class implementing this SEI. But I would really want to see more example, or downloads, where i can just download / view the whole thing all at once... I googled "java web service", "jax-rpc example"..etc.. most of the return links are from either java.sun.com, or ibm, or some other vendor's web site, explaining the architecture... I really want to look at the code, to get a better understand, what is the relationship between each of these softwares (tomcat, apache http server, axis...)
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks,
    T

    I think I can answer your Q1
    Apache is very good at serving simple HTML pages
    Tomcat is capable of serving active content
    So the two complement each other
    Or that's how I understand it.

  • Basic questions about PL/SQL web services and datasource names

    Hi there,
    I successfully generated a web service for a PL/SQL packaged procedure in JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0).
    In the web service base class the following code was generated:
    __dataSource = (javax.sql.DataSource) __initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/dbconnectionDS");However in the weblogic server the datasource name is jdbc/somethingelse so the deployment fails at first.
    What is the recommended procedure to solve this issue? The obvious solution is to manually edit the source -- that is what I did and it worked fine. However if I re-generate the web service I will lose my change. Is there a better way to do this?
    Another question -- in the generated web.xml file, there is a resource-ref for the datasource. I was hoping that changing the datasource name there would help but it didn't work. What is it used for in this context?
    Thanks
    Luis

    Hi Vishal,
    I did as you suggested but it didn't work... see below more details.
    Thanks
    Luis
    1 - I re-generated the web service from the PL/SQL package. The constructor in CFBTestWSBase class looks likes this:
    public CFBTestWSBase() throws SQLException
      {  try {
    javax.naming.InitialContext __initCtx = new javax.naming.InitialContext();
    __dataSource = (javax.sql.DataSource) __initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS");
    } catch (Exception __jndie) {
    throw new java.sql.SQLException("Error looking up <java:comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS>: " + __jndie.getMessage());
    }2 - I added the following section to weblogic.xml:
      <resource-description>
        <res-ref-name>comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS</res-ref-name>
        <jndi-name>jdbc/DataSource</jndi-name>
      </resource-description>3 - I got the following error when during deployment to weblogic server:
    [HTTP:101216]Servlet: "CFBTestWSPort" failed to preload on startup in Web application: "CustFeedbackTestWS.war".
    java.sql.SQLException: Error looking up <java:comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS>: While trying to look up comp/env/jdbc/custfeedbackDS in /app/webapp/CustFeedbackTestWS.war/346617503.

  • Securing Web Service--Beginner question

    Hi--
    I am trying to follow the document "Securing WelbLogic Web Service 10g Release 3" and can't get past the initial steps to verify that my service has been deployed with the Wssp1.2-2007-Wss1.1-UsernameToken-Plain-X509-Basic256.xml policy
    I have a basic question.
    I add the aforementioned policy to my web service using :
    *@WebService*
    *@Policy(uri = "policy:Wssp1.2-2007-Wss1.1-UsernameToken-Plain-X509-Basic256.xml",attachToWsdl=true)*
    and then rebuild and redeploy.
    If I then access the URL for the web service with "?wsdl" apppended, shouldn't the WSDL returned now include policy information?
    Karl

    Thanks, that's what I've come to understand. Is this restiction due to the fact the the @Policy annotations are not standard or is this a limitation on the Weblogic eclipse plugin
    What I've had to due is generate the JWS from the WSDL and then go back to the bottom up approach with the generated JWS source files. A bit of a pain but what can you do.
    I tried adding the security policies as suggested by Bethune but they don't seem to "stick" after a restart of weblogic server. This may be due to running weblogic server under Eclipse. I havent had time to investigate this further
    Once again thanks all for the help

  • Query as a web service question

    I have a QAAWS problem. BO XI 3.1, Xcelsius 2008 version 5.2.1.0
    I need to send 5 product names (user can select 1 to 5 products from a list) and display corresponding market share values I obtain from QAAWS.
    Created a query with Product names as prompt, returning market share. In prompt options, I selected
    "Prompt with list of values" and "Optional Prompt".
    in Xcelsius, when I created the connection, I select 5 columns as input from prompt (my product names). I selected the column from Input values, "Read From" and gave 5 columns in sequence.
    the problem:
    However, when I execute the query, I get only the market share of the first product returned.
    I know that QAAWS can take multiple prompt  from different columns. Is this because of Universe settings? or my option settings are in correct?
    Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I had the exact same issue.
    What you have to do is the following:
    In the Input Value section you have to select your Prompt from your query as a web service, then click the + sign - this will add multiple rows for your prompt - each of these row can then be pointed to each of your 5 colums/filter values individually. This will work.
    I asked almost the same question her:

  • Web Service/ JDBC question

    Hi,
    I have to design an automatic -and periodic- process that performs next tasks:
    1) Read Oracle table to build a XML file
    2) Connect with a Web Service and send the XML. (In the specification says that SOAP with attachments is not supported , so we have to use a "proxy J2EE client" to interact with this web service)
    3) Also this web service uses security sign with a X.509 v3 certificate in BASE64, which must be passed as a 'string' parameter when is invoked.
    I'm new in these subjects, and I need some help, my questions:
    1) Is it possible to define an automatic process with JDEVELOPER that connects to the DB, build the XML file and invoke the Web service?
    2) How could I make this proccess automatic and periodic, for example every friday.
    3) What are the tools I have to use:
    3.1.- To Connect with DB -> JDBC?
    3.2.- To Build XML, programmatically? or is there any tool?
    3.3.- To define it as a periodic proccess??
    4) Others alternatives? Is it possible to develope this directly in PL/SQL as a job in ORACLE?
    thanks in advance...
