Pixi's undeserved bad reputation​. (Slow OS, Not slow hardware)

The bottom line to this post is the Palm Pixi has got a bad reputation for being slow.  Is this a result of slow hardware or poor software (WebOS 1.3.1?)
I have both a Pre and a Pixi and it's become obvious that the Pre is performing just about the same as my Pixi.  This is a BAD news for Pre owners becasue it wasn't like this before the 1.3.1 update.
On paper the Specs of the Pixi are impressive.  Sure it isn't as fast as the latest and greatest phones out today but it should be AT LEAST as fast as a first gen iPhone if not a little better.  What is really sad is it made it into the hands of the reviewers this way.  
Did any one bother to review the Pixi on the 1.2.9 it shipped with?  I'll admit I updated the Pixi to 1.3.1 the moment it was out of the package.  I hope the reviewers revisit the Pixi after the next update and bug fixes.  i think they will find they sold the phone short in terms of performance.
At a price of $25 on amazon for new contracts it's a great deal.
I guess there is not real point to this post.  i just wanted to rant a bit.  I really do enjoy using my Palm Pre.  It is still easily the best phone sprint has not to mention a very capable alternative to other phones like the iPhone and DROID.  It just pains me to know there is so much pore potential under the hood that is not being used.  and why?

Latest info: downloaded the 10.4.11 update. The computer took ALL afternoon to verify and install 300 megs. On restart, it won't. Gray screen w/icon and spinning progress indicator but not getting any farther. I've tried safe start and zapping the PRAM, for something different, if for no other reason. I'm sure I can boot from a disc -- but where to go from there? I still feel I'm fighting a hardware issue that's only being complicated and confused by software changes as well. The intended purpose of the OS reinstall was to make a clean environment for diagnostics.

    'Flash is to costly to bandwidth' or 'Flash files are to big for

    I've learned that Vector graphics are the most efficient way
    to display images on the net. People are loading unnecessary PNG,

    I have to agree that Flash drawn graphics can provide a
    substantial efficiency and clarity. I will use them whenever the
    opportunity presents itself. But I don't think lazy programmers are
    responsible for any sort of bad reputation that Flash might have...
    I haven't heard that it has one.
    At one end, programmers are just that, programmers, not
    graphic artists, and they have to rely on others to create graphic
    elements for them. And while Flash can be used to create some nice
    drawings it does not have all of the features and capabilities that
    software created for drawing has to offer, so graphics people are
    more prone to use such software, it's what they are trained in,
    which is why Flash often ends up with jpeg and png files. And alot
    of web-based content utilizes complex imagery such as photographs,
    3D renderings, and video... which Flash vector drawing cannot be
    used to recreate.
    And on the other end are those that use Flash almost solely
    for animations and have little to no programming skills nor need
    for any.
    One of the nice things Flash does, which some of your friends
    apparently take exception to, is provide preloading capability. Not
    all of the preloading you see is always what lives in a flash file,
    a good portion of that preloading could be image content and other
    media that is dynamically brought into play later on. A very small
    Flash file can end up presenting a very large amount of content
    this way. Sure, in this microwave oven world we live in, nobody
    likes a long wait, but I think it's better to wait the one time up
    front than to have to wait every time some new piece needs to be
    flown in from a server like your average web page often makes you
    do.
    You're not likely to find an anti-Flash attitude popping up
    much in these forums... the folks that come here a usually those
    who have fallen under its spell and seek to enhance their abilities
    to use it.

    Does it allow me to do everything that can be done in After Effects for example? (I ask without actually knowing what After Effects is for - I've just heard it mentioned looadds)

    That *****! But... doesn't effect me as I'm coming in as a new user

    Different editors have different needs, and while FCP X offers some really innovative features it lacks other things that some editors need in order to be competitive/get work in their environment. It is not just what you can actually edit (read: tell a story) with a piece of software but also about format support, workflows, collaboration to name just a few.
    FCP X is an editor with a few effects built in, in addition to which you can get Compressor for output and Motion for VFX. Adobe actually offers a whole suite of products that range from editing to VFX, from color grading to Blu-Ray authoring.

    FCP X is not an all-in-one solution. As I said above it is an editor with a few built-in effects and titles.
    After Effects is for visual effects, green screen .... stuff like that. It is quite powerful but does not actually have anything to do with editing itself (that is Premiere)

    Because when it was released many features that editors were relying on/accustomed to were missing (XML support to name only one at random) which caused many to switch to Adobe or Avid. That fact that some of these features were added back in subsequent updates didn't really seem to repair the damage.
    Since you are a new user get the trial version and give it a go. You will need a fast machine with lots of RAM and fast external storage.

    It isn't censorship. There is nothing anyone here can do about it. Such questions do nothing but initiate flame wars, as you can see by most of your responses so far. That is why they get deleted.

    You don't. Apps are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them. Instead of creating a new ID, change the primary email address on your existing ID.

    when I go to se19,

    I struck up at 3rd part of the note (BADI creation/implementation part of the note.).
    Please suggest me how to apply this Badi part of the note ?

    Are you sure this note is for your system. I am also working in ECC6. I checked but I couldn't find the defibition too. Make sure note is for your component version and if it is report this problem to OSS.

  • Trade-in program is giving Verizon a Customer Service a bad Reputation

    The trade-in.vzw.com program is giving Verizon a huge negative customer service problem. I was concerned when I submitted my mint condition iphone 4 in the flimsy envelope they provided. And sure enough, it has been a month today and the check status website still has "not received" it according to the  link. They have it, post office did their job. And those phone calls to 877-247-3846 - wow - what a colossal waste of time for absolutely no information, that's if you do actually get a person who won't give their name and will hang up on you!  THIS IS NOT THE EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE HAD AT VERIZON FOR 12+ YEARS!
    Then I come here and read they are shorting their customers in the trade-in amounts - wow again!  Really? It's a sales Promotion and they short their customers amounts like $166 of a $200 promotional trade-in value. Unbelievable!
    They haven't done that to me - yet. Because after a MONTH they are saying they still have not received my iphone.  I don't buy the due to the heavy volume we don't have time to take care of business lame excuse, get some help and get it done! By reading other customer posts they have been using this excuse for some time, well before the Iphone 6 launch.  Bad planning and simply not good business on Verizon's part.
    So I'll wait. Don't have much choice. And I don't have time to take the battle to the media, but some of you who have been so wrongly treated should.
    Damage to Verizon customer service has been done, and continues with each passing day.  My question is 'Has anyone had a good customer service experience with the Verizon Trade-in program?'

  • ATI Catalyst 12.6 on E-350/450 will not discover hardware.

    Wondering if others have noticed this problem.
    I had loaded Catalyst 12.6 on my Desktop mule and very impressed with the results, so I downloaded [eventually both the mobile version and "regular"] for my X120E, ran the install, all seemed to go smoothly, no bangs or gotchas or whatever.
    For whatever reason, a couple weeks later I was digging around at drivers and was surprised to find the Graphics display driver still the same as before.
    long story short, 12.6's 'discover' routine fails to discover E350 / 6310 hardware but it does not flag the user.
    I reported to AMD's bug catcher but no news at all.
    Downloaded the 12.7 beta package, uninstalled all my other drivers, then ran the 12.7 on "Custom" install, made sure to check graphics install, and it went fine.  Unfortunately it has a bad bug with Flashplayer on E350 hardware, which I also reported. Don't know if that is fixed yet but its nasty:  Blackscreen lockups.
    so I'm back to 12.4.
    check your driver in Device Manager if you think you loaded/installed 12.6.

  • Imac thunderbolt port not recognising hardware

    I recently purchased a late 2012 27' imac 3.4GHz, i7.  The things works beautifully, however I'm having a particular issue with the thunderbolt ports.  It's not recognising hardware I plug in - to either port.  I've done a fair bit of research - done the whole restart thing, tried different combinations of connecting and booting up, uninstalling and re-installing the hardware drivers I'm trying to connect, used previous versions of the drivers, tested the hardware on my old macbook pro and it worked, but the new imac is just not recognising it through the thunderbolt ports.  Specifically, the hardware is a Mbox 3 Pro, with Firewire 800 to 400 to thunderbolt cable.  Long chain, but I do know it works.  Any help/ideas on getting the imac and hardware to communicate would be greatly appreciated

    It looks like the iPhone is locked to a carrier that is not the one you are trying to use.
    You need to determine which carrier it is locked to and then contact them to see if they are willing to authorise the unlocking of your iPhone.  As ManSinha mentioned, many carriers will only authorised the unlock if requested by the customer who had the contract with them for this iPhone.
    Remember that only the carrier who owns the lock on your Iphone can authorise Apple to unlock the iPhone in their servers.  You need to contact the carrier or have the previous owner of the iPhone request the unlocking.

    Once new apple ID was set up, then I removed the verizon SIM and then inserted prepaid t-mobile sim card and after the phone booted up then I got the same message like  above...."not supported"
    What do i do now? I think the phone is unlocked right?
    Also do I need to insert Verizon SIM card and do restore as NEW and this time do not set up the iphone but change the SIM card and then set up or ?
    I am confused and other threads were talking that if you get congrats message then u shd be good to use other SIM cards....please help!!!

    Yes i confirmed it is listing correct MP and software scan is working fine. we have around 8500 machines connected to that site buy only 3000 machines are having this issue. anyone has faced this issue ?
    Only 5000 Computers are supported by a secondary site.
