PL/SQL DOM API (dbms_xmldom) -- XML-Schema support ?
hello,
I have a very large xml-schema, and al my data is in a relational database.
I want to create a xml-document according the xml-schema, with a lot of data out of de relational database.
I think I have to user this dbms_xmldom package, but is their a way to start with the schema. To Create the structure of the document ??
I read in the oracle documentation that their is xml-schema support, but I can't find how I have to use this.

I think you would want to use xmlview. A schema can be attached to the view definition, thereby creating a schema-based xmltype view.
ie create view nameview of xmltype
xmlschema "nameschema.xsd" ELEMENT "namehere"
as
select
xmlelement ("....xmlforest(....(select xmlagg(xmlelement(....
or something similar.

Question about Java API for XML schema?
Hello, everyone!
I am looking for a java api for XML schema. I hope the API is capable for parsing the structure of element
or complextype declarations in XML schema. So for example, if I specify a name of an element or
complextype defined in a schema, the name, dataype and other constraints of contained child elements can be returned.
Does anyone know if there exists such a paser?

SQL Developer generating an XML Schema for a table
I hope I've put this question in to correct area of the forum!
My question is how do you generate an XML schema of a table layout in SQL Developer?
You can generate an XML schema for the DATA, but I just want to generate one with all the column definitions etc.
The annoying thing is I managed to do this the other day, but after attempting again for several hours I've forgotten how to do it :-(

Generating PL/SQL from WSDL or XML Schema
Has anybody built a code generator that will read a WSDL or an XSD and generate a skeleton of the appropriate PL/SQL code for shredding documents.
I'm needing to do a bunch of shredding for schemas. One option appears to be to load the schemas into XMLTypes, add annotations, and get the database to handle it. I'll be looking at that.
But another would be to have a program (PL/SQL or other) which would read the WSDL or XSD and generate a skeleton that would read through the structure of the document and give me access to the elements without having to write all the XPATH statements manually.
Just looking for the best approach where I can work at the right level of abstraction and minimize hand-coding.

JAXP API provides no way to enable XML Schema validation mode
I am evaluating XDK 9.2.0.5.0 for Java and have encountered another
problem with XML Schema support when using the JAXP API.
Using the classes in oracle.xml.jaxp.*, it appears to be impossible to
enable XML Schema validation mode. I can set the schema object, but
the parser does not use it for validation.
If I use DOMParser directly, I can call the setValidationMode(int)
method to turn on schema validation mode. There is no equivalient
means to enable XML Schema validation when using the JAXP API.

I also tried this with version 10.1.0.0.0 beta, and got the same
error.
Darin FranklinThanks for posting that. I tried that code and still got my problem. The big difference is that I'm reading a group of XML files each of which uses a large number of schema files. There are over 50 schema files organized so they can be included as needed. Each of the XML files has a noNamespaceSchemaLocation attribute specifying one of the ten top schma files, that includes many others.
However, I did solve the problem. I added one line --
saxb.setFeature( "http://apache.org/xml/features/validation/schema",
true);
// next line is new
saxb.setProperty( JAXPConstants.JAXP_SCHEMA_LANGUAGE,
JAXPConstants.W3C_XML_SCHEMA );after the setFeature to turn on schema validation.
(It needs an import org.apache.xerces.jaxp.JAXPConstants; statement.)
Note:With the feature set to true and the setProperty commented out, the EntityResolver is called at construction tiem, and for each schema file, but each element is flagged as needing to be declared.
With the feature commented out, and the setProperty in place, the EntityResolver is not called, and there is no validation performed. (I added invalid content to one of the files and there were no errors listed.)
With both the setFeature and the setProperty in place, however, I get the calls from the EntityResolver indicating that it is processing the schema files, and for the good files, I get no errror, but for the bad file, I get an error indicating a bad validation.
Now I can make the EntityResolver quiet and get what I wanted. Maybe there are other ways to do this, but I've got one that works. :-)

2) I dived in the XQuery programmimng in SSMS2012 in the last few weeks. I used the examles of Ad-Hoc XML File Query by Seth Delconte (in

function to find substrings, (iii)Efficiency comparisons in the article.

And for numbers you get correct comparisons so 20 > 1.i guess it's possible. i use schemas when parsing xml, and i've used xpath (infrequently), but i'm not sure that i've ever used them together in a way that i would see functionality like that.
FYI, you use http://docs.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/xml/parsers/DocumentBuilderFactory.html#setSchema%28javax.xml.validation.Schema%29 to specify a schema while parsing with a DocumentBuilder. -

There are a few threads about this same issue. There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to get the linking info in any of our report engines new and old.
Here's why:
We were well aware of the limitations to get the info from our Dictionaries at the time they were deprecated using our SDK's but it was determined it was simply easier to re-build the reports than to create a conversion tool and a new set of API's. The reason is the Dictionary Designer was simply a View designer and could be considered a stand alone application. CR had no direct interaction with the SQL the DD created, we simply waited for the result set to be returned.
What CR would have to do is create look up tables for ALL databases so we could map their tables and functions to our SQL generator. Of course this would have been a VERY LARGE project which would create all sorts of issues in the future. If the DB driver changed the functionality of the SQL generated we would have to follow. Way too much to manage and impossible to maintain.
The DIRECT replacement for using DC5's is using the Command Object in CR Designer, again it's a way to directly enter in SQL and CR simply passes that SQL directly to the server to process. Unforetunately for the reason I stated above we have no field and table mapping functions built into CR when using Command objects either if you want to change the report to use the tables directly, so there is no mapping functionality and the reports would have to be re-built.
Knowing this the Developers did add the ability to copy and paste report objects from one report designer/report to another one that's open.

Long time ago, I manually created a Database (APGriMMRP) and 3 Tables (dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates, dbo.Table_2_Soil, and dbo.Table_3_Water) in my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS2012). The dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates has the following columns: file_id,
Pt_ID, X, Y, Z, sample_id, Boring. The dbo.Table_2_Soil has the following columns: Boring, sample_date, sample_id, Unit, Arsenic, Chromium, Lead. The dbo.Table_3_Water has the following columns: Boring, sample_date, sample_id, Unit, Benzene, Ethylbenzene,
Pyrene. The dbo.Table_1_XYcoordinates is a Parent Table. The dbo.Table_2_Soil and the dbo.Table_3_Water are 2 Child Tables. The sample_id is key link for the relationship between the Parent Table and the Child Tables.
Problem #1) How can I print out or export these 3 dbo Tables?

Scott ChangIn the future, I would recommend you to post your questions one by one, and to the appropriate forum. Of your questions it is really only #3 that fits into this forum. (And that is the one I will not answer, because I have worked very little with XSD.)
1) Not sure what you mean with "print" or "export", but when you right-click a database, you can select Tasks from the context menu and in this submenu you find "Export data".
2) I don't know why you get that error, but any particular reason you want to run PowerShell?
4) If you have tables, you query them with SQL, not XQuery. XQuery is when you query XML documents, but left and right joins are SQL things. There are no joins in XQuery.
As for left/right join, notice that these two are equivalent:
SELECT ...
FROM a LEFT JOIN b ON a.col = b.col
SELECT ...
FROM b RIGHT JOIN a ON a.col = b.col
But please never use RIGHT JOIN - it gives me a headache!
There is nothing that says that you should use any of the other. In fact, if you are returning rows from parent and child, I would expect an inner join, unless you want to cater for parents without children.
Here is an example where you can study the different join types and how they behave:

</schema>It is specifying that anything at all can be passed in and out from the two XMLType arguments, which is fair enough: it has no way of knowing what I am expecting and what I shall return.
My question is, how do I tell JDeveloper that actually I want either or both of those XMLTypes to conform to a particular XML schema?You cannot format the date as a string, unless you do the conversion on the PL-SQL side, before you use it in your WebService mapping. It should be handled as a string.
The only way to convert the XML from SOAP, using this encoding, into literal XML is to apply XSLT to the payload. Not sure why you would like to do this, as the payload should be consumed by another SOAP-awared stack.
