PL SQL library

Hi all,
I wanted to understand when to use pl sql libraries and how to create them.
Is there any pdf on OTN that I can read to understand PL SQL library concepts and usage.
Note Would also be interested in how to develop them on Windows and deploy them on Unix.
Thanks in advance.
Mayura

PL/SQL library is just an external container of PL/SQL code (Procedure/functions/packages).
They are external because they can be used by more than one form. They are loaded in memory when need.
So if you have to write a function/procedure that can be used by several forms, write it in a pl/sql library, then attach this library to your forms.

  • Missing or invalid version of SQL library PSORA (200,0)

I am trying to configure App. Server on Vista laptop machine.
    The machine name is VRGhati03.
It is a logical 3 tier archtecture. Its a EPM 9.0 Install. My database (PFDMO) is all configured and I am able to signon using a User ID VP1 and password VP1. My connect id is people with password of peop1e.
    My access id is SYSADM.
I have created a user id in Oracle as VP1 and granted him the PSADMIN role .
When I try to boot up the App. Server it tells me ' Missing or invalid version of SQL Library PSORA' and 'Could not sign on to database PFDMO with user VP1'
The VP1 sign on works via SQLPLUS.
I also created a User Account of VP1 and tried to boot the appserver under that id but still no success.
I have gone thru some of the postings on this topic but they have not helped me. What am I doing wrong?
Below are the details of the log files, portion of my psappserv.cng file and the system environment variables.
Can somebody help. Thanks in advance
    Sudhir

VP1 is an application user, not a database user.
PS is a database user, the Peoplesoft objects' owner. It is also an application user on some application.
Did you try to connect onto the database with people user through SQL*Plus ? Are you able to read PSOPRDEFN, PSVERSION, PSACCESSPRFL tables ?
What Vista version are you on ? What Oracle version ?
If you have Metalink3 access, you should read the note :

  • PL/SQL Library Not Refreshed

I am testing PL SQL Libraries and have attached a library called SALES to a report and with a calculation function. The problem I seem to have is when I made changes to the function, it is not detected when I run the report. It still seems to read the old version of the library. How can I overcome this problem? Do I need to delete and re-attach the library or is there a way I can make the report automatically refresh itself with the latest library/functions? Thank you in advance.

    Dear Ino,
I am having this problem as well. Whenever I add another function in the PL/SQL library, the report will have to reattach the PL/SQL library again. It will be a problem if I have 100 reports using this shared PL/SQL library. This means that I have to reattach the library for 100 reports whenever I edit the function in the library. Is there any way to refresh the report without reattach the library?
P/S: As far as I know, attaching the PL/SQL library does not need to edit the REPORTS_PATH in registry. I just have to double click "Attached Libraries" in the Object Navigator in the Report Builder.
    Please help. Thank you.

  • Cannot attach PL/SQL library APPCORE... forms6i

    Hello,
I am trying to open the template.fmb form and I cannot seem to get forms to recognize the FORMS60_PATH variable in the registry.
I transferred (in binary) all the .pll files from $AU_TOP/resource to a local directory ORACLE_HOME\FORMS60\resource.
I transferred (in binary) TEMPLATE.fmb and APPSTAND.fmb to the same directory.
I set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\FORMS60_PATH to 'C:\oracle\ora806\FORMS60\resource' (without the quotes).
I added HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\ORACLE_APPLICATION and set it to 'TRUE'
I added the FORMS60_PATH to the system variable file in windows to 'c:\oracle\ora806\FORMS60\resource'.
    I rebooted the machine.
I am still getting the same error message.
I reinstalled forms so that it was the only Oracle product on my machine.
    version (6.0.8.24.1)
I am running windows XP SP2
Can anyone tell me what I am missing? Or why I cannot get the libraries to attach?

There is a whole list of them that won't attach -

  • PeopleTools 8.53 , 9.2 Install - Missing or invalid version of SQL library

    Hello All
    I am installing 9.2 / 8.53 on a Windows 7 Professional (64 Bit) Machine
I have installed Oracle 11g 32 bit (Server and Client) edition that has the following paths:
    C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1 and
    C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1
    I can connect to DB with SYSADM , PS accounts with no issues and also to App Designer and Data Mover ;
I am trying to configure App Server. The Tuxedo is 64 bit. Installed this with no issue.
On the PSAdmin configuration for App Server, I have provided the path of C:\oracle\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin.
When trying to boot, it gives me the below errors in log file:
PS General SQL Routines: Missing or invalid version of SQL library PSORA64 (200,0)
    and stderr file has:
    LoadLibraryA() in pscompat.dll failed for 'PSORA64.dll': reason=126
    How to fix this?

Your DB should already have been installed on 64 bit Oracle Server.
The Application server, as stated in the installation manual in Task 8A-4: Creating, Configuring, and Starting an Initial Application Server Domain:
Enter 20 for AddToPATH, and enter the path to the 64-bit connectivity software
If DB and Appserver are on the same server you can reuse the DB libs, otherwise you need to install a 64 bit Oracle Client for the application server
    Note:
Application Designer, Datamover, etc still need 32 bits Oracle Client for connectivity.

  • PS General SQL Routines: Missing or invalid version of SQL library libpsora

    Hi Everyone,
Need your assistance. Perhaps someone of you encountered this already. I have completed setting up everything until the application server part. If I try to boot the application server I get the error below. I have tried several solution published in Oracle Support and these did not resolve the issue.

  • Missing or invalid version of SQL Library PSORA with 8.50

Although unsupported, I am trying to get a HCM 9.1 on PT 8.50.05 running on a 64 bit Windows 7 Pro laptop. Running 11.1.0.7 Windows 2008 64 bit Oracle. I installed the 32 bit Oracle 11.1.0.7 client for Win2008 also.
Every thing seems OK until I try to start an App Server domain. I can login two-tier via PS. I can connect sqlplus with SYSADM and people. I ran the VERSION AE process without incident. Datamover runs fine with PS and bootstrap.
When I try to boot my domain, I get the "Missing or invalid version of SQL library PSORA (200,0)" error. In stderr file it notes "LoadLibraryA() in pscompat.dll failed for 'PSORA.dll': reason=126".
I have the path to my 32bit client files within the app servers' AddtoPath setting. I even tried using the UseLocalOracleDB settings but that didn't help either.
Any of you smart folks have any suggestions (aside from using a Supported OS and calling Oracle support)?

I set the app server log fence to 5 and it still doesn't provide any real insight. Sorry if this i little long:

Please , we need to delete the existing row in dbowner table or any other solution. It seems you ran more than once this script. As I already said to you above, you MUST use a 32bit Oracle client against your 64bit Oracle database from a Windows workstation, are you ?
Furthermore, Oracle db and Peoplesoft are not certified on Windows 7...
Lastly, or you remove that line from the script, or you delete that row (all rows) from that table, or you re-create database from scratch (I mean drop and recreate) because running this script more than once is never good, especially regarding the DMS import.

  • What causes the Missing or invalid version of SQL library PSORA (200,0)?

What causes the Missing or invalid version of SQL library PSORA (200,0) in PeopleTools 8.51 Application Designer?

Could be several things. Bad path, bad version, etc. give us details on your client install. What Oracle client do you have installed. App Designer is 32 bit. If you installed the 64 bit client you might get this error. What OS are you using. PeopleTools version? guessing 8.51 from your other post.

  • Suddenly not able to start up the appserver? SQL library error

Our datacenter went down this past weekend and so my Template 9.1 environments also went down, unfortuantely I have yet to have time to put in start up scripts on those servers. I am trying to bring all 3 tiers up manually and am encountering errors I've never had before. I am assuming that I am doing something wrong because this environment has not been touched and I've never had this problem before.
Templates have not been changed, we accepted all the defaults. We have 3 different servers, 1 for DB, 1 App, 1 Webserver
I have started the database and listener and can reach them via sqlplus no problem. However, when starting up my appserver I am getting the following error: GenMessageBox(200, 0, M): PS General SQL Routines: Missing or invalid version of SQL library libpsora
I have set my Oracle environment (. oraenv) to my database name. And my Oracle home to: /opt/oracle/psft/appbatch/oracle-client/10.2.0.4-64bit. Is this correct? I am starting the appserver as psadm2.
What am I missing? Why am I suddently having library file version errors?
    Thanks!!

Ran your sql statement, here is the output:
    SQL> select username,account_status,expiry_date,profile
    2 from dba_users
    3 where username in ('PEOPLE','SYSADM');
    USERNAME ACCOUNT_STATUS EXPIRY_DA
    PROFILE
    PEOPLE OPEN 08-JUL-10
    DEFAULT
    SYSADM OPEN 29-JUL-10

Here is more of the appserver error:

  • ORA-6508 while using attached PL-SQL library [SOLVED]

    Hi all,
we use Developer 10.1.2.0.2 on Windows XP Professional SP 2.
    We have a Linux-based ( 2.6.5-7.287.3) OAS (10.1.2.0.2).
We received ORA-6508 while starting a report from within a menu. In fact all reports led to the same mistake. I must admit that they all worked fine before. We found a workaround for this problem by recompiling the attached PL-SQL library. The question is: what caused the loss of information ? What reasons can be imagined for such a behaviour ?
    Regards

    Hi Christian,
    what we have is:
We have a .mmx in production for quite a while. Within the .mmx you can start several reports by selecting an entry of the menu. It all works without problems. Then suddenly by choosing one of the reports you face ORA-6508 (something that has never happend before even though we made no changes to the system - at least I have no knowledge of any ;)
The .pll which I recompiled is attached to the menu (.mmb). Recompiling the .pll fixes the issue.

  • PL/SQL Library Reinitializes. WHY??

Forms [32 Bit] Version 6.0.8.16.1 (Production)
    Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production
    With the Partitioning option
    JServer Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production
I have a PL/SQL library that is attached to three forms.
Form A and Form B invoke Form C via a procedure in the library using
    CALL_FORM(
    form_name,
    NO_HIDE,
    NO_REPLACE,
    NO_QUERY_ONLY,
    SHARE_LIBRARY_DATA
The problem is Form A works properly, but Form B causes Form C to execute the package initialization block which resets all the global package variables.
NOTE: Form C updates library globals in the PRE-FORM trigger. It is the first assignment to any library variable that causes Form B --> C to reinitialize the library.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Yes all three forms have the same library attached.
Forms A and B handle transaction processing.
Form C handles payments for those transactions.
The library has a package that handles payments and returns.
    Forms A and B invoke form C via a call to PACKAGE_NAME.PAYMENT
    PACKAGE BODY PACKAGE_NAME IS
       PROCEDURE PAYMENT IS
          BEGIN
             CODE...
             CALL_FORM(
                FORM_NAME,
                NO_HIDE,
                NO_REPLACE,
                NO_QUERY_ONLY,
                SHARE_LIBRARY_DATA
             CODE...
          END;
       PROCEDURE RETURN IS
          BEGIN
             CODE....
          END;
    BEGIN
       -- PACKAGE INITIALIZATION BLOCK
-- THIS IS THE CODE THAT IS GETTING EXECUTED AGAIN
-- WHICH TELLS ME THE PACKAGE IN BEING RE-INITIALIZED.
-- IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS CODE SHOULD ONLY BE
-- EXECUTED THE FIRST TIME THE PACKAGE IS REFERENCED.
    END;
Form A is working as expected, but invoking Form C from Form B is somehow causing the re-initialization of the package.
This occurs the first time the library is referenced in Form C. It just happens that the first reference is in the PRE-FORM trigger.
I can go in an out of Form C many times from Form B and each time the package is re-initialized.
