PL/SQL Network Address Type Functions
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a PL/SQL package(s) that provides similar capabilities as the following postgreSQL network address type functions:
http://www.sql.org/sql-database/postgresql/manual/functions-net.html
I don't see anything in the standard Oracle 10g packages, so I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this problem and posted the package.
Thanks,
- Greg.
I think the easiest way of getting some of this functionality would be to write a PL/SQL wrapper to a Java Stored Procedure that implements calls to the Java InetAddress class. It doesn't haven't the full set of operators but I'm not sure what 'less than' actually means in the context of an IP address . If you really need them you could always extend the InetAddress class to implement such tests.
Cheers, APC

The dreaded: The network address is invalid error - SQL 2014 Cluster on Server 2012 R2
Trying to setup an SQL 2014 Failover cluster on Windows Server 2012 R2 (two nodes). Every time I get to the assign a SQL server Network Name piece of the setup I get the following error message:
The given network name is unusable because there was a failure trying to determine if the network name is valid for use by the clustered SQL instance due to the following error: 'The network address is invalid.'
This happens whether I use the Advanced cluster installation procedures or the normal installation. I have tried the following based on anything I can find on the web:
1) Removed the clustered MTDTC role.
2) Deleted the NIC Team (4 1GB NICs). Deleted all but 1 NIC from the server device manager.
3) Shutdown the second node.
4) Lanman Server registry change posted someplace on this forum that does not stick on reboot
None of the above, separately or in combination, has worked to allow SQL 2014 to be installed as a cluster role.
There is no virtual machines added to the cluster. This is not a VMware installation. It is straight Windows 2012 R2 with a two node cluster (setup identically).
Any ideas, suggestions, comments?
Thanks,
-AndrewHi Alberto and Lydia,
The cluster was verified, there are only warnings related to a lack of redundant network paths as the cluster verification doesn't recognize a team of 4 nics are redundant. I updated AD to include the permissions detailed in the link Lydia provided,
still no go.
I'm not sure how to attach the installation logs to this message forum other than as text in the message, so here you go:

Imanager source address type Network
I am trying to add a range of ip address as a filter exception through
iManagers NBM filter management snap-in. If I add an individual host or
use "any address" it works fine, however, if I select "Network" as the
Source Address type (or destination address type), when I click next
nothing happens (I.E. responds as if next was not clicked).
I have tried various combinations for the address and subnet, but none
seem to work. What I THINK belongs there is:
Network
10.117.12.0
255.255.255.0
Is this a known bug, or am I just missing something obvious? Is there a
workaround?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

I have exactly the same vague recollection, and offer the same excuse
for not using iManager for filtering!

Password change fails in SQL Developer with verify function...
A couple of months ago I enforced a password verify function on our 11.2.0.3 databases and also one legacy 10.2.0.4 database.
At the time I tested on my account (which had elevated privileges...doh!). Now some users are hitting expiry, they can't change it via SQL Developer.
If I create a user with 'create session' privilege and set their profile to one that uses the verify function (see both below), I then log in to SQL Developer (we have tried with versions 3.1 (Windows) and 3.2 (Linux) with same failure results.
BTW,.. the password verify function enforces the following:
password must be minimum of 8 characters
password must not be the same as the user name, or user name (1-100)
password must contain at least a single digit
password must contain at least a single character
1. Works = I log into the local server and run command line SQLPlus, type 'password' and update. I can successfully change my password.
2. Fails = I log into the local server and run command line SQLPlus, type 'alter user <me> identified by <newpwd>;' I get:
TEST: SUTEMP > alter user sutemp identified by carport9999;
alter user sutemp identified by carport9999

ORA-28221: REPLACE not specified
This error is because the account does not have the 'alter user' privilege. I'm okay with this, as I don't want our users having this privilege.
3. I start SQL Developer 3.2, type 'alter user <me> identified by <newpwd>;' I get the same ORA-28221 error as above. That is fine, and as expected.
4. Now in SQL Developer, I type 'password', set a valid password, but I get 'Failed to change password' in the Script Output tab.
I have a database 'after servererror on database' trigger set, and querying the database table it is logging into, I see a record with a date stamp matching my failure with a server_error=28221 (the same as above).
So I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong here, or if this is a bug in SQL Developer. I don't want standard users having 'alter user' privileges, but I do want to enforce password verification.
I get the same result on three 11.2.0.3 databases (haven't tried any more but suspect same results for others) and one legacy 10.2.0.4 database, and using SQL Developer 3.1 and 3.2.

alter profile web_and_it limit password_verify_function verify_function_11g;okay,... I just saw another website which shows I should put in the 'replace <oldpwd>' clause in.
This works in SQL Developer: alter user sutemp identified by carport999 replace garage999;
So why does the 'password' command fail? (Developers: it would also be helpful to have the ORA- error displayed as opposed to 'Failed to change password') -
Queries on pl/sql tables within a function
hi,
how can i execute regular sql-queries within a function on a pl/sql table which the function has recieved as a parameter ? i have tried quite a bit and always get type mismatches or internal errors. anybody has a good example on this ?
thanks in advance,
stephanhi,
okay, i will not post the actual code i have, because it won't make too much sense out of the context, but here are the relevant parts...
i have a few object definitions that represent the records of the three tables (two input and one output)...
create type t1 as object (...);
create type t2 as object (...);
create type t3 as object (...);
and a package with the table definitions
create or replace package t_defs as
type tab_t1 is table of t1;
type tab_t2 is table of t2;
type tab_t3 is table of t3;
end t_defs;
and here is a rough sketch what the function should look like later:
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION some_function (
tab1 IN t_defs.tab_t1, tab2 IN t_def.tab_t2)
RETURN t_defs.tab_t3 PIPELINED IS
TYPE refcur IS REF CURSOR;
cur0 refcur;
curr_rec t3 := t3(NULL, ....);
BEGIN
open cur0 for 'here is the statement i could not do';
LOOP
FETCH cur0 INTO curr_rec.....;
EXIT WHEN cur0%NOTFOUND;
. -- (manipulate the record) --
PIPE ROW(curr_rec);
END LOOP;
RETURN;
END; -
Connecting over a network address
I have just purchased a copy of apple remote desktop version 3 as I am going away to university week after next and need to be able to access my home computer to help my parents with any problems that they have. The problem is, I can access their computer (intel imac) from my laptop (mbp) while on my home network but when I go to my aunts house to try and connect it doesn't work.
I know that I have to use the network address of the internet to login but that doesn't seem to work either.
My public internet IP is: 83.xx.xx.xxx and then the imac is connected to a router with ip 192.168.1.71 .
Can anyone please tell me what to type into remote desktop to connect to this computer.
Many thanks.Here is a tutorial.
I'm tired of hearing the same freakin' questions.

I welcome any comments to make this tutorial more user-friendly.
Thanks,

Wireless PC wont connect---wont acquire network address
Your Network Magic Version installed: 5.5.5195

The Method of connection your problem computer has to the Router: Wireless.
The Connection in use on the problem computer: TP-Link TL-WN350GD

Software Firewall in use: windows
Also if any Anti-Virus Program or Spyware Program is actively protecting your computer. Iobit Security and Avast
I have a problem, ever since I had to do a hard reset of my pc. It works on wireless and the signal is strong. But it cannot acquire the network address from the router no matter what I do.
Can anyone help ?Firstly, you must know your router's wireless settings. click on these links to learn how:

WRT54G Wireless Router Will Not Assign a Network Address
A Linksys WRT54G router will not assign a network address when I access the router using a Linksys WPC600N wireless card. I have the same problem accessing the router with a TRENDnet TEW-621PC wireless adapter. Both wireless adapters are assigned network addresses when I use other wireless routers. Also, I have no problems being assigned a network address when I access the WRT54G router in question using an old 2WIRE 802.11b wireless card.
I have tried "Repairing" the connection, I have used ipconfig to "release" and "renew" the connection. However, each attempt fails to have a DHCP address assigned.
I am a visitor at the work location with the connection problem, the router works for others without any issues.
ThanksWell in such case .... you can try few settings on the wireless adapter ....
If you are using WLAN monitor .....
Click start >> All programs >> Linksys wireless monitor >> Click on "Profile" >> Delete all profiles >> Click "New" >> Type in the wireless network name >> Click next >> Configure the rest of the wireless settings same as in the router ...
At last point it shows .... all the configuration settings ...reconfirm that >> Click on connect ot a network & reboot the computer ...
After reboot see if it shows connected or not....
You can also use Static Ip in the configuration .... -
T-SQL and CLR types for return value do not match
Hi I am trying to create a CLR function to call a webservice, the CLR function return data type is double, whether I try
to create this as a table valued funcion or a scalar to return a distance travelled value I am receiving the error below. I've tried changing data types around in the CLR side and the SQL side but keep receiving the same error message, any help would be appreciated,

Many users complained some wifi cards missing the

forums people write about (indignantly)
the problem.

I'm curious about the Windows 10 users
experience with different
wifi cards.
This function working perfectly, all linux platform,Mac,already in android,the old windows XP,windows 2000,
it's a basicthing.This problem affects some reason only are newer Windows platforms and directly the wifi option.well....it doesn't matter whether the MAC add is 00-14-BF-93-D2-66 or 00:14:BF:932:65 or any other format .. the most important thing is the hex decimal numbers are the same ... so not worry about it...

"networksetup is trying to modify the system network configurations" type your password to allow this.Type your password to allow this. No amount of password typing seems to satisfy the request. The pop up box will not go away!!!!
Hi Glenyse,
Did you find the answer to your question? I have the same problem. Or can anyone else help?
My wife’s 2012 Macbook Pro has Yosemite and is using Wi Fi for the internet connection.
Every time, both on startup and awaking from sleep, a window appears on the desktop with a locked icon saying, “Networksetup is trying to modify this system. Type your password in to allow this”.
The window (which can’t be moved or dragged) shows the computer’s user name. The password has to be repeatedly typed in as many as 10 times and the highlighted ‘modify configuration’ box clicked before the window disappears and the computer then functions normally.
Needless to say, this is driving my wife up the wall… I would certainly appreciate information on how to get rid of this troublesome window! -
ACS Database Replication over VPN with overlapping Network Addresses
We currently have two co-locations each situated in different provinces. We have two ACS servers which we want to deploy at each co-location. All our network equipments are behind PIX/ASA devices. Getting them to replicate over the VPN should be easy but in our case we have overlapping Network Addresses at both ends of the tunnels.
As per Cisco data does not transit a NAT device when the two Cisco Secure ACS servers communicate and a successful database replication can occur only if the secondary ACS server perceives no change in the IP header or content of the data it receives. So that means we will not be able to Implement NAT to achiever this.
Has any one of you faced this problem of replicating ACS Database over the VPN with overlapping Network Addresses and was anyone able to successfully solve this issue using a work around ?
All provided info and comments are greatly appreciated.I can help with the 3005 setup if you decide to go that route.
You will need to add 2 network list entries under Configuration>Policy Management>Traffic Management>Network Lists.
You will need to configure a local and remote address. The local will be one of the public ip's for the site.(Provided by your ISP)The remote will be the device you are connecting to on the other end.
You will also need to add a Nat Lan to Lan rule under Configuration>Policy Management>Traffic Management>Nat>Lan to Lan.
Use a static Nat type. The rest will look similar to my example.
Source(Local address)Translated(Public Ip Address used in the network local list)Remote(Ip address of the device on the other end)
Now just create an Ipsec lan to lan tunnel. You will need to agree with the ISP on des type and auth type. Use you local and remote networks you created earlier.
