Placing of XML file ?

Folks
I am creating a framework for our application , I have one XML file which has all the SQL statements(based on the use case) in it , So all my pageflows/controls call this XML file to get the Simple SQL/Stored Procedures, And i am wondering where to put this XML file in the Server/Folder structure so that when the server starts up this XML file gets loaded,
I appreciate any advice/help
thanks

not sure that this is the best thing to do - but if u choose to do it this way, you should place the xml file anywhere in the classpath. then u can read it in just as you would read in a properties file -
     private void loadProperties(ClassLoader loader) {
          logger.debug(CLASS_ID + "loadProperties() - Beginning to load SPT Properties");
          InputStream in = null;
          try {
               in = loader.getResourceAsStream(SptConstants.PROPERTY_FILE_NAME);
               if (in != null)
                    super.load(in); // can throw IOException
               else
                    logger.error(CLASS_ID + "loadProperties() - InputStream was null. Probably file does not exist.");
          } catch (Exception e) {
               logger.error(CLASS_ID + "loadProperties() - Some error loading property file - " + e.getMessage());
e.printStackTrace();
          } finally {
               if (in != null) {
                    try {
                         in.close();
                    } catch (Exception ignore) {
                         logger.error(CLASS_ID + "loadProperties() - Could not close input stream - " + ignore.getMessage());
ignore.printStackTrace();
          logger.debug(CLASS_ID + "loadProperties() - Finished loading SPT Properties");

    Put it somewhere in the classpath, and then load it with one of the getResource or getResourceAsStream methods in Class or ClassLoader.
    It won't automatically get loaded though. There has to be code that explicitly loads it--either yours or a library's.

  • XML file not loading...HELP!

    Hello,
    I'm working on a Magento template that includes a flashfile that loads a XML file.
    I'm getting the following error:
    XML FAILED TO LOAD! (undefinedtfile_main.xml)
    Fout bij openen van URL 'file:////Volumes/Macintosh%20HD/Users/ralreclame/Desktop/undefinedtf ile_main.xml'
    flash folder looks like this:
    I also tried placing the xml-file outside the xml_folder. Did not work either.
    code in the first frame looks like this:
    Stage.align = "MC";
    Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
    _root.gall = url="tfile";
    _root.cacheKiller = "true";
    _root.road = _root.xmlUrl;
    _root.r_p = _root.imagesFolder;
    import gs.dataTransfer.XMLParser;
    function onFinish(success_boolean, results_obj, xml) {
        //This fhunction gets called as soon as the XML loads and gets parsed.
        if (success_boolean) {
            trace(1);
            play();
    stop();
    var parsed_obj = {};
    //We'll use this to hold the parsed xml object (once the XML loads and gets parsed successfully).
    var unCash = new Date().getTime();
    if (_root.cacheKiller == "true") {
        fileToLoad = _root.road+url+"_main.xml?cacheKiller="+unCash;
        fileToLoad = _root.road+url+"_main.xml";
    } else {
        fileToLoad = _root.road+url+"_main.xml";
    XMLParser.load(fileToLoad, onFinish, parsed_obj);
    Hopefully anyone can help me out here!
    grtz Roel

    Thanx for the reply!  my flash folder looks like this:
    and i inserted the value this way >>
    Stage.align = "MC";
    Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
    _root.gall = url="tfile";
    _root.cacheKiller = "true";
    _root.road = _root.xmlUrl;
    _root.r_p = _root.imagesFolder;
    _root.xmlUrl; = "xml_folder/"            <<
    import gs.dataTransfer.XMLParser;
    function onFinish(success_boolean, results_obj, xml) {
        //This fhunction gets called as soon as the XML loads and gets parsed.
        if (success_boolean) {

    } else {
        fileToLoad = _root.road+url+"_main.xml";
    XMLParser.load(fileToLoad, onFinish, parsed_obj);
    The movie now shows in the preview so no more load error. One step further.
    But the links from the XML file are stil not working. When i preview the movie in flash i get "undefined" 5 times (i got 5 links in the xml file) It looks like this>>>
    any idea where that comes from??
    Thanks Again.

  • Load XML file from different location?

    Hi All,
    I've been going through an exercise by Karl Matthews to load XML data into an AIR App:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/flex/articles/xml_viewer_on_air.html
    but I would like to change where the XML file used in the project is retrieved from.
    Currently the XML file is loaded from here:
    <!-- Set up the HTTP service from where we get the source XML data -->
    <mx:HTTPService id="srcData" url="
    assets/UserGuide.xml" result="loadModelData(event)"
    />
    but I would like to load the XML file from one of these locations instead:
    File.userDirectory:
    File.documentsDirectory:
    Can someone please show me how I should change the above code to accomplish this, as my efforts to date have not been successful :-(
    I am using Flex Builder 3 and Air 1.5.
    Thanks heaps!

  • Read xml file from jsp/servlet

    Hi all,
    I am a new comer to jsp and really appreciate if someone can help me on this:
    I will like to use a xml file to control access to my web app instead of using a database. Let say user.xml that will contains user name and password. Questions:
    1. where should I put this file? Under WEB-INF?
    2. In my jsp or servlet, how do i read the xml file, i mean how to i refer to the file (depend on question 1 as where the file should be placed)?
    Thank you very much.
    Sim

    Hi jlsim,
    you can place the xml file where you want, but remember that placing it under /WEB-INF is the most security way.
    I had a similar problem and I placed the xml file under /WEB-INF directory.
    To refer to it I did something like this:
    String realPath=getServletContext().getRealPath("WEB-INF/xml/workspaces.xml");//obtain the real path
    File f=new File(realPath);//obtain an instance of your file usable
    //to create an InputStream

  • PC crashed trying to reload iTunes from XML file.

    I am trying to reload iTunes library from a XML file. I followed the support suggestions of draging and droping the file into the music tab in itunes. As well as placeing the XML file into the iTunes library itself. I have had zero luck with either. If I open the XML file I can see a ton of script and code. Can you reload iTunes from XML file at all? Help Any suggestions would be great.

    OK, I decided to give Apple more money and bought iTunes Match. It seems to be more headachs than it's worth. And it's neglected by Apple. Last time I'll be doing that! that's for sure!

  • Loading an XML file into the table without creating a directory .

    Hi,
    I wanted to load an XML file into a table column . But I should not create a directory in the server and placing the XML file there and giving the path in the insert query. Can anybody help me here?
    Thanks in advance.

    You could write a java stored procedure that retrieves the file into a clob. Wrap that in a function call and use it in your insert statement.
    This solution require read privileges granted by sys and is therefore only feasible if the top-level directory/directories are known or you get read-access to everything.

  • XML File to SAP R/3 using SAP XI

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm hoping someone has done this scenario and can provide a step by step example for me.  The scenario I have is as follows:
    -- An XML file is placed manually on a UNIX SAP Server
    -- SAP XI should, once the file is placed on the server, go to a specific directory, pick the file up, and then send it to an RFC of which I've already mapped.
    -- Once the file is placed in the SAP R3 system, then the processing is over and no further processing should take place.
    -- This is an inbound message to SAP XI and also to SAP R/3
    I was thinking of using a File adapter as a "Sender", and poll every 60 seconds on a directory mentioned above.  Once the file is there, then I would call the RFC and then the mapping of the XML would put the data into R/3.
    Any help anyone can provide would be most appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your help!
    Regards,
    John

    John,

  • XML file is not being displayed in browser? Why?

    Hi all!
    I have a secnario file->XI->J2EE appl.
    I am using  File sender adapter and HTTP Receiver adapter.
    I placed XML file in D:\somedir of my machine, it is picking up well by XI, <b>all i want to know is how XI sends this XML file to my J2EE Appl.</b>Because my servlet should display the same XML file in browser. I deployed my J2EE appl on weblogic application server9.0 I am getting the following error:
    The XML page cannot be displayed
    Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
    XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://localhost:7001/Invoke/DisplayRes'.
    These are settings that i have given in my Receiver HTTP adapter:
    Aadapter Type: HTTP
                       Receiver
    Transport Protocol:  HTTP1.0
    Message Protocol:    XI payload in HTTP body
    Adapter Engine:      Integration Server
    Addressing Type:     URL address
    Target host:         localhost
    Service Number:      7001(Port number of Weblogic appl server--where my J2EE appl is deployed).
    Path     :  /Invoke/DisplayRes/(Context path of J2EE appl)
    Authentication Type:Use Logon Data for SAP System
    Content Type: text/xml
    Username:   xiappluser
    password:   xx
    XML code:   UTF-8
    This is my Servlet code:
    public class DisplayRes extends HttpServlet {
         public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
         doPost(request,response);
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
         BufferedReader brin =new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(request.getInputStream()));
         String inputLine;
         StringBuffer sBuf = new StringBuffer();
         PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
         response.setContentType("text/xml");
         while ((inputLine = brin.readLine()) != null)
             sBuf.append(inputLine);
               out.println(sBuf.toString());
              brin.close();
             out.flush();
    Where i went wrong please help me,
    NOTE: I want to know how XI sends XML file to my J2EE appl. I suppose my servlet receives it in request object.If so can i use like:
    response.setContentType("text/xml");
      String xmlFile = request.getParameter("myXMLFile");
      PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
      out.write(xmlFile);
      out.flush();
      out.close();
    Please help me!
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Datta,
    You seem to have big problem with this scneario as you have raised this question couple of times , in couple of topics / threads. I will try to make a few things about this clear.
    1. XI when sends data to a J2EE application , in your case a servlet, I believe you must be using a HTTP adapter to post the data to it. Whenever XI will post a XML data to a HTTP resource , it will post it as the request body and that is why the code in one of my previous post reads,
    BufferedReader brin =new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(request.getInputStream()));
    String inputLine;
    StringBuffer sBuf = new StringBuffer();
    PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
    response.setContentType("text/xml");
    while ((inputLine = brin.readLine()) != null)
    sBuf.append(inputLine);
    out.println(sBuf.toString());
    brin.close();
    out.flush();
    If you 've noticed, the statement
    request.getInputStream()
    retrieves the body of the request as binary data using a ServletInputStream.
    So your answer to your question is
    <b>XI transferes data to a servlet as a part of HTTP request body</b>, if you use a HTTP adapter.
    2. By J2EE application , if you mean a server java proxy, then the method whose name matches with that of the Inbound Message interface recieves a parameter , from which you can retrieve the parameters passed by XI. Just check the getters of that object.
    Hope this clears your basic doubts!!!
    Rgds,
    Amol

  • Importing text from XML file, "\n" not working

    Hi I'm currently trying to set up my game so it pulls in all text from an external XML file (to make switching between different languages easier). The problem is that on several occasions I need to use the special code "\n" to start a new line (for formatting purposes) but when I'm pulling the text in from the XML file this is not starting a new line any more - it is just appearing as normal in the text. (e.g "Here is some \n example game text") How do I get around this?
    Any help here appreciated, I'm supposed to be finished everything by tomorrow so I need suggestions asap haha Thanks.

    I don't see how I can be setting it wrongly, I have the exact line:
    XML.ignoreWhitespace = false;
    Before this I tried myXMLDocName.ignoreWhitespace = false; (before I realised it was a static function)
    This line is placed immediately after I have loaded my XML document and assigned it to a variable. e.g.
    private function XMLLoaded(e:Event):void
                trace("XML Loaded");
                MyGameGlobalVars.xmlDoc = new XML(e.target.data);
                XML.ignoreWhitespace = false;       //previously: MyGameGlobalVars.xmlDoc.ignoreWhitespace = false;
                xmlLoaded = true;

  • Crystal Report using XML file

    Hi,
    I want to create dynamic crystal report using below mention xml file.
    Example:--
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <root xmlns:inl="http://inline">
    <xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://inline" xmlns="http://inline" elementFormDefault="qualified" attributeFormDefault="unqualified">
    <xs:element name="Person">
    <xs:complexType>
    <xs:sequence>
    <xs:element name="First_Name" type="xs:string"/>
    <xs:element name="Last_Name" type="xs:string"/>
    </xs:sequence>
    </xs:complexType>
    </xs:element>
    </xs:schema>
    <inl:Person>
    <inl:First_Name>Anna</inl:First_Name>
    <inl:Last_Name>Ant</inl:Last_Name>
    </inl:Person>
    <inl:Person>
    <inl:First_Name>Betty</inl:First_Name>
    <inl:Last_Name>Boop</inl:Last_Name>
    </inl:Person>
    </root>
    Crystal report column will be generated using this xml file.
    my report look like--
    First Name Last Name
    Anna Ant
    Betty Boop
    Thanks
    Praveen

    can you please be more detailed on what you mean automatically
    like put the xml file together and have the report generated without actually attaching the dataset to the rpt file and placing the fields in the report?
    if that is the case i dont believe crystal functions that way, been working with it for many years. i know you can create webi files through business objects where an end user can talk an dataset and build there own queries and rpt files on a dashboard type screen.

    Tomcat41\webapps\ROOT\se\WEB-INF\servletOthers have pointed out that "servlet" should be "classes", but there is another mistake that hasn't been spotted. If you want your servlet to appear in the root context, you should use:
    Tomcat41\webapps\ROOT\WEB-INF\classes
    If you want your servlet to appear under the /se context, then you should use:
    Tomcat41\webapps\se\WEB-INF\classes
    and also, in the latter case, your form action should be /se/myGroupRegistration.

  • Writing XML file

    Hi I am trying to create an xml file in the following manner:
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    import javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilder;
    import javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory;
    import org.apache.xerces.dom.DocumentImpl;
    import org.apache.xerces.dom.DOMImplementationImpl;
    import org.apache.xml.serialize.*;
    import java.io.File;
    import java.io.StringWriter;
    import java.io.FileOutputStream;
    public class XMLData {
    public void createXML(){
    Element e = null;
    Node n = null;
    Document xmldoc= new DocumentImpl();
    Element root = xmldoc.createElement("USERS");
    String[] id = {"PWD122","MX787","A4Q45"};
    String[] type = {"customer","manager","employee"};
    String[] desc = {"Tim@Home","Jack&Moud","John D'o"};
    for (int i=0;i<id.length;i++)
      e = xmldoc.createElementNS(null, "USER");
      e.setAttributeNS(null, "ID", id);
    e.setAttributeNS(null, "TYPE", type[i]);
    n = xmldoc.createTextNode(desc[i]);
    e.appendChild(n);
    root.appendChild(e);
    xmldoc.appendChild(root);
    try{
         File f= new File(XMLData.class.getResource("/utilities/config.xml").toURI());
         FileOutputStream fop= new FileOutputStream(f);
    OutputFormat of = new OutputFormat("XML","ISO-8859-1",true);
    of.setIndent(1);
    of.setIndenting(true);
    XMLSerializer serializer = new XMLSerializer(fos,of);
    serializer.asDOMSerializer();
    serializer.serialize( xmldoc.getDocumentElement() );
    fos.close();
    catch(Exception ex)
    System.out.println(ex.getMessage():
    the problem that I'm getting is that nothing is being written to the file, and therefore it is not being created.
    Can someone point out what I'm doing wrong. I suppose its quite a trivial thing...
    Thanks

    No, it does not solve the problem...It could be due to this line of code though:
    File f= new File(XMLData.class.getResource("/utilities/config.xml").toURI());any ideas about whether this is correct or not...cause if I just use :
    File f = new File("config.xml"); the output is generated and the file is created though it is not placed in the correct directory.
    thanks

  • Have itl and xml files on external hd am running home premium. can  no longer access files, am told this is because they were created with a newer version of itunes. also when i try to download 10.3 it wont, just says invalid drive j and for me to try aga

    i am running vista home premium on desktop and vista basic on laptop. have placed my itunes music with .itl and .xml files onto external drive connected to another desktop running vista and can no longer access music on first two mentioned comps only on the one connected to external drive. always am told that the library cant be read because it was created using a newer version of itunes. have tried to download 10.3 but it always tells me that i have and invalid hard drive j and to try again. any ideas?

    Older versions of iTunes cannot read libraries created with newer versions of iTunes. You need to have the same version of iTunes on all your PCs. Is that the case?
    As far as the problem installing iTunes goes, see this article from b noir on dealing with the problem:

    If you get to the point where you need the Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, you will need more help as it has been withdrawn by Microsoft. but I am hoping the virtual drive trick will work,
