Planning Annotations in the columns of reports

Hi all,
is it possible to put Planning Annotations in the columns of the report rather than having them appear as footnotes?

I believe you have created a similar datasource using the ODBC manager from the server and had added the entry in the DAS settings .
Also make sure you have the same selection of ODBC/ODBC in the DAS settings.
Thanks...

  • How to provide formulae for the columns in report based on date column

    Hi,
How can we provide formulae for the columns in report, where each column is based on another Date Column.
    Can anyone suggest on this.
    Thanks

    Hi Manu,
I think you a logical column X on which you created another Logical Column Y.
Now you want 'Y' to be filtered based on Date Column.
    1. If, my assumption is right - You can do your requirement i.e. Filtering the logical col. 'Y' on Reports.
    Else,
    2. See - Your Logical column 'Y' While creating log. column 'Y' make sure you use any expression builder to filter across Date column. (i.e. using any case statements or where clause).
    Else,
    3. Make sure your First Logical column comes from Table by default (i.e. Create the same col. in d/b so it would be your Physic col. )
    Thank you.

  • Re : Issue with the column display in Bex reports

    Hello Gurus,
I have an issue with the reports in Bex, this is a bit confusing scenario I would try to explain in more details. A query was already built for monthly Report in Sales and Billing for which the variable were  Calender month/year range 1 (mandatory), range 2 range 3 range 4. These 4 variable were created and moved to column rows in query.
Later the user wanted the copy of same report but he wanted the variables to be Calender date range 1 (mandatory), range 2, range 3 , range 4. I have created them with 0calenderday as reference and moved to the columns.
for the monthly report text variables were already existing for the Calender month/ year, but for the daily report text variable were not existing for Dates. I have created a text variable for the date in the following way processing by
" replacement path" and reference characteristic as 0calday and in the replacement path tab.. in replace variable the selection is info object, the next option Replace with " External charactersitic value key " .
By creating this text variable the dates were being displayed in the colum header like 11/01/2013 - 11/30/2013 which satisfies the requirement.
But the user wanted to see the report same like monthly report when the mandatory variable Calender year/ month is selected, the rest of the columns range 2, range 3, range 4 are displayed as unassigned in the report. but coming back to the daily report when the user is giving the Calender date rage 1, he is finding that Calender date range 2, range 3, range 4  are also being displayed with values. He want to see the Calender date range 2,3,4 as unassigned in the report just like monthly. Please find the images attached.
As Calender month/ year is predefined, if the calender range values are not given it would show up as not assigned default. I have created a separate text variable for Calender day, I believe that could be the reason rest of the columns are not showing up as unassigned. The user want to see them as unassigned like monthly report columns.
I tried different ways changing the text variables but I could not change the display of the columns in Calender date report by the option - replace with ----> External characteristic value key, key, label. when I chose the option external characteristic value then the date was showing up in the text of the column when report is run ( Please find the image for the reference in the attachment ). . I request you to help me out in this. Please find the images of the variables and output below.

    Anshu,
Thank you very much for above code I  made minor changes to the code that finally worked. I created 4 different text variables needed for Calender date range 1, 2 ,3 ,4. Please find the code below for the text variable that worked in the system
    WHEN 'ZTEXT_CAL1'.
       READ TABLE I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO loc_var_range
       WITH KEY VNAM = 'ZCALDATE1'.
        IF loc_var_range-LOW = '#'.
          dt_low = 'Not Assigned'.
          dt_high = 'Not Assigned'.
          CONCATENATE dt_low '-' dt_high INTO l_s_range-low.
        ELSE.
          CONCATENATE loc_var_range-low+4(2) '/' loc_var_range-low+6(2) '/' loc_var_range-low+0(4) into dt_low.
          CONCATENATE loc_var_range-high+4(2) '/' loc_var_range-high+6(2) '/' loc_var_range-high+0(4) into dt_high.
          CONCATENATE dt_low '-' dt_high INTO l_s_range-low.
        ENDIF.
            L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
            L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'EQ'.
            APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.

  • Sorting the column of VARCHAR in report

    Hi,
I want to sort the column in report with the following scenario,
I have a column name with PERIOD as VarChar with values APR-11,FEB-11,JAN-11,JUN-11,MAR-11,MAY-11 in a report
As you can see, It is sorting in Alphabetic order but I need to arrange in JAN-11,FEB-11,MAR-11,APR-11,MAY-11,JUN-11
So can anyone has a good work around solution?
    regards
    Vj

Here is your challenge. How do you get Jan-12 to come after Dec-11? Adil's solution is partial. It works only for the current year. Once you cross over to the next year, it stops working because you are only sorting the month. You must include the year to make the solution complete. So here is a solution that always works. It involves some math so I'll explain the math first.
    Let's look at your values:
    Jan-11
    Feb-11
    Dec-11
    Jan-12
If you convert each month to a number (i.e., Jan = 1, Feb =2... etc.) and then multiply the year by 1000 and finally add them together, we get this:
    Jan-11 1 --> 11001
    Feb-11 2 --> 11002
    Dec-11 12 --> 11012
    Jan-12 1 --> 12001
You get the picture. The last column will be in the order you seek because the integer will always be greater than the previous month-year even at the transition from December to January. BTW, I multiplied the two digit year by 1000 to ensure that there would be no overlap.
Now you can sort by this third column. Here is the code that does this:
    CAST(CASE WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Jan' THEN '1' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Feb' THEN '2' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Mar' THEN '3' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Apr' THEN '4' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'May' THEN '5' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Jun' THEN '6' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Jul' THEN '7' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Aug' THEN '8' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Sep' THEN '9' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Oct' THEN '10' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Nov' THEN '11' WHEN LEFT(Table.PERIOD, 3) = 'Dec' THEN '12' END AS INTEGER)+CAST(RIGHT(Table.PERIOD, 2) AS INTEGER)*1000
This solves your problem now even when the month-year crosses to the next year. There you go!

  • Change the column width on the fly

    Dear all,
I have a problem, i have a matrix report, the row is "the project name" and the column is "the items" using within each project, and the problem is the items are variable from time to time the report run for each project, so its exceeds the paper width.
And the question is, is there any way to change the width of the column on the fly, i mean dynamiclly change the column width each time the report is called to make all items fit the paper width.
    Thank u

i don't think that we can change the layout of the column in reports
The simple solution for that problem is that u have to
fix the horizontal and vertical layout of the text item
better is to post this problem at reports forum

  • Showing Annotations in Separate column in Hyperion Financial Report with source Essbase ASO

    Hi All,
I've a Report in FR and user has to enter the comments and the entered comments should display in Column. I'm using Annotations here and created a separate column and written formula <<Annotation(cur, cur, F, cur, Desc)>>. The comment is displaying in the column, but to see the comment / annotation one has to select View -> Annotations. Is there any way to get rid of this. With out selecting View -> Annotations option can the comments directly displays in column when user opens a Report ?
Or Is there any other way that user can enter comments in FR ? Essbase ASO cube is my source

I don't think there is another way for that. Did you try the pdf view?

  • Discoverer  report does not sum up the column

    Hi All,
I am running the discoverer report from discoverer desktop and was
trying to use the sum function to sum the total amount of the report.
The sum function does not work and it only display Cell
Sum: (blank) with no actual data.
When i checked the report details some columns are calculated based on the columns which i want to sum up.
Any ideas please share with me
    Thanks in advance.

    b) What is the difference between sum and cell sum? Well, I certainly won't claim to be a Discoverer guru. From what little I have seen, the practical result is not any difference really between the two. SUM of a calculated row is adding up the calculation to the total. Whereas cell sum is like adding up the individual values behind the calculation you see. The distinction makes more sense when you have SUM DISTINCT and CELL SUM DISTINCT being involved. Then you will see a difference in the calculated total. But for SUM and CELL SUM itself, I have not seen any difference between the two, but I am still pretty new to Discoverer.
    e) Aggregate field from a folder. Well, this may be one where you have to play around with your own data to understand. Let me try to give you a simple example. Let's say you have a sales table with 100 rows. You have sales data for 5 cities, and each city has 20 rows of sales history. If you pick Sales Dollars Detail and City Name for your workbook and run, you will get 100 rows in your result (complete detail listing). So that is what happens with no aggregation. Now, instead of doing Sales Dollars Detail, you pick Sales Dollars Sum (the same thing as saying SUM(Sales Dollars) in an SQL statement). Run the workbook. You will now get 5 rows of data, instead of 100 rows of data. You will get one row for each city. If you look at the SQL that Discoverer generates, you will see that it has now done a GROUP BY in the SQL statement. Notice I have not said anything about DISTINCT (just trying to keep things simple).
Now, lets say you do a workbook for City, Part Number, and Sales Dollars Sum. Run the workbook. You get a summarized result (say maybe 10 rows of summary data this time). If you look at the Discoverer SQL, the GROUP BY is now by city and part number, automatically doing that because you picked the SUM version of sales dollars.
Now lets say you add Sales Units Detail to the workbook. Discoverer will give you a warning message that you are have both an aggregate and a non-aggregate and that you may end up with unpredictable results. Run the workbook. You will be back to 100 rows, because you specified sales units in detail.
Most of the time I do not want to see detail rows in a workbook. So most of the time I am picking the SUM aggregate for an amount item.
Hope this explains things a bit. Sounds like maybe you need to take the Discoverer Create Queries and Reports class. Would help you understand these things better. Good luck.

  • XML Publisher Report:how to disappear the column if no data found

    Hi,
I have a XMl publisher report requirement , the format is tabular lets say with the structure of 4 columns and 10 rows.requirement is to if suppose there is no data for row number 6 the row itself should not appear over the report and the immediate next row should come in place.
please help me if any one of u has implemented the same.
    Ankit

    Ankit,
This is almost hard to work although NOT impossible to achieve on the template.
A little big of PL/SQL genius where all the columns are selected into variables may be used to achieve this, although you will have to manage them accordingly.
I don't any other way round it.

  • Average of the column in ALV report

    Hi,
I am working on an ALV report and for one of the column, i am calculating the average with fieldcatalog property do_sum = 'C'.
I am sorting the output table for 2 fields and whenever I am expanding/compressing the sorted fields the average of the column is changing. Please let me know how do I get this average calculated constant. It should not change when the user collapses/expands on the sorted field.

    Rashmi

The same question has been asked in this thread:
Compute average of a report column
I have offered a solution but as I've said it's not great but it may meet your needs.
Or another forum user may review and be able to suggest a better solution.
Does the average need to be part of the report?
Could you calculate it and display it within a page item below the report instead?

  • How to extract the column width in ALv report if its executed in background

I am executing an ALV report in background , in front end i am getting data properly, in back end for some columns some of the digits are missing. For example if PO no is of 10 digits it will display only 8 becos column size is like that , how to extract coulmns in back ground.
I have executed in background and checked the spool and  for some of the columns width is not sufficient to display comeplete data so please suggest how to extract the columns sizes if executed inj background for an ALV

    Hi Deepthi,
you can try with the above mentioned suggestions ,if its worked its fine ,
If not use Docking container instead of custom container, For ALV in back ground jobs, its suggest to use docking container instead of custom container , below you can find the declaration for docking container and code to use docking and custom container in your program for fore and back ground.
or you can use docking container alone for both operations.
    Data : G_DOCK1 TYPE REF TO CL_GUI_DOCKING_CONTAINER,
IF CCON IS INITIAL. (ccon is container name )
*Check whether the program is run in batch or foreground
        IF CL_GUI_ALV_GRID=>OFFLINE( ) IS INITIAL.
    *Run in foreground
          CREATE OBJECT CCON
            EXPORTING
              CONTAINER_NAME = 'CON1'.
        CREATE OBJECT GRID1

    Hi
    Read this and follow it...
    >
Go to the report attributes, then click on the edit link button by the side of the column you want to be a link to get to the column attributes.
    >
    So...
    1. Go to edit the page that contains your report.
    2. Click on the report region as if you were going to edit the report query.
    3. Click the Report Attributes tab.
    4. Click the button at the side of the column in question.
    5. Scroll down to the Column Link section and fill in the details.
I really can't put it much more simply than that...

  • Report Column Attributes Does Not Display All the Column Names

    Good Morning,
I have an interactive query Select * from table_name. I have to select * since my query returns well over 32k. I have 162 columns in the query. On the screen, all the columns are displayed; however, on the report tab, only about half of the columns are displayed. The rest are cut off. I need to be able to go into these field's attributes. Is this an APEX bug, or am I just missing something.
    Regards,
    Kelly

    Hello Tony,
I can't break them out because APEX is limited to one interactive report per page. There is need to be able to do computations on the data, which interactive reports allows. The data is all statistical.

  • Discoverer plus  report does not sum up the column

    Hi All,
I am running the discoverer report from discoverer plus (web version) and was
trying to use the sum function to sum the total amount of the report.
The sum function does not work and it only display Cell
Sum: (blank) with no actual data.
When i checked the report details some columns are calculated based on the columns which i want to sum up.
My query uses CASE function to calculate one of the columns.
I changed the aggregation behavior setting to "Show the sum of the calculated values from the contributing cells "
then also i'm not able see the totals.
Any ideas please share with me.
    Thanks in advance,

Hard to answer your question without seeing what you are trying to do. Issues like this are often better reported to Oracle support, where they can get a web sesison going and be able to see what you see on your computer. Would be helpful to illustrate exactly what your detail looks like and how you are trying to create your sum. There could be several possible issues that could cause your problem, so all I can do is speculate some. Are you trying to sum one column, or are you creating multiple totals (for multiple columns)? Do you have any rows in the column with a NULL value? NULL values will be a problem when trying to sum up a column. You would need to convert the NUll value to something else, probably a zero. That would be the first thing I would look at. Hope that helps a little bit.
