Planning & Essbase audit options

Hi,
I am trying to find out the username of the person who entered a particular value using lock & send (essbase addin) or submit data option (smartview) in our Planning cum Essbase implementation. I am looking into HSP_AUDIT_RECORDS table for this.
But Does HSP_AUDIT_RECORDS table stores records for data entered/modified through essbase addin, considering the table sits in planning repository ?
Do I need to change any value in my HSP_AUDIT_OPTIONS table to enable this kind of tracking?
My HSP_AUDIT_OPTIONS table has the following values:
Audit Forms:0
Audit Data:1
Audit Pus:1
Audit Copy Vers:     1
Audit Members:     0
Audit Calcs:      1
Audit Alias tables:0
Audit Users:      0
Audit Groups:     0
Audit security:     0
Audit form folders:     0
Audit offline:     0

SSAUDIT is not enabled by default you will need to add it to essbase configuration file, more details here
I doubt you will see much performance difference, like most things try it and see.

Planning "Configure Product Option" using configuration utility

Hi All,
I have installed HSS on server1 and Planning, Oracle DB in server 2.
Done the HSS configuration and i can able to log into HSS successfully. When i tried to configure my planning,
1. Open the EMP system configurator from planning server
2. Select Hyperion Foundation ( Configure DB, Common database). Here by default "Previousely configure the DB" was secected and configuration was success.

Is there an AUDIT option like AFTER SERVERERROR database trigger?

I want to log any and every error-exception in a test database for a period.

I'm considering what audit options Oracle 9.2.0.8 Enterprice Edition got for dml statements.
So far I know:
- there is no dml text stored except for sysdba/sysoper users via audit_sys_operations
-audit insert , delete,update gets only who/when no acctual sql_text available
-FGA is only usable for SELECTS but with CBO enabled or false possitives possible
only solution is:
-create trigger on every application table which will do audit via autonomous transaction and some homegrown code
-create after logon trigger which makes trace like 10046
-sniff network traffic between DB and hosts and use intelligent software to extract sql statements
Did I miss something obvious here ?

Essbase Audit Files not Updating

Hi All,
My Essbase Audit files are not updating....both .ALG and .ATX files.
They used to update up to the last month but those are not updating.
I checked the .cfg file and is okay with SAUDITR.
Please suggest.

Some of the terminology Dreamweaver uses can make what you're saying a bit confusing, so I'm going to try to clarify so we can better understand the situation.
You and your coworker are each on your work computers using Dreamweaver. You have both created site definitions in Dreamweaver, pointing to a folder on your company's internal server.
The "Local Site Folder" setting of your site definition should be pointing to a location on your own computer. The same setting on your coworker's site definition in Dreamweaver should be pointing to a location on their computer.
This means that when you select "Local view" in the Files panel, it will only show files on your computer. Likewise, when your coworker does the same, it will only show files on their computer.
It is the "Server Folder" setting in the server settings on each of your computers that should be pointing to that folder on your company's internal server.
This means that when you select "Remote Server" (or "Testing Server" if you checked that box instead for the server in your site definition) in the Files panel, you will be viewing the files on your company's server.
In order to essentially share files between your copy of Dreamweaver and your coworker's, you need to "upload" (i.e. copy) files from your Local View to your Remote Server. Your coworker would then see these files by looking at Remote Server on their computer. And the reverse is true; they upload from Local View to Remote Server, and you would see the files by looking at the Remote Server view on your computer.

I have an old Lenovo W520 with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB Samsung Evo 840 SSD. I have Planning, Essbase, EPMA, FR, Calc Manager and Oracle 12c running (version 11.1.2.4) on Windows Server 2012 R2.
16GB of RAM will allow you to run a compact deployment, but probably not a "regular" deployment. I don't like compact deployments as they can make it difficult to troubleshoot issues with individual products.
I recommend 32GB of RAM. I also recommend an SSD rather than a regular hard drive. Quad-core processor is a must-have.
I would look at either a Lenovo W541 (not the new W550s as it tops out at 16GB of RAM) or a Dell Precision M4800 or M6800. If you really want to go nuts, check out Digital Storm/Clevo/Sager, where you can custom build your laptop. These three appear to use the same components.

No more 'Edit in Audition' option in Premiere?

Hey guys.. I have Production Studio CS3 as well as Audition 2.0. And back in the last version of Premiere, I used to be able to right click on an audio-clip in the timeline and choose to open in Audition 2.0 to edit and replace. But now that option is no longer there, only the option to open in Soundbooth and edit.
I mean, I have both Audition 2.0 and Soundbooth CS3, so I would like to be able to use both just by right-clicking on the audio clip in my Premiere timeline. Anyone know how I can get the 'Edit in Audition' option back? Thanks.

Hi Ghanny,
Afaik, there is no auditing capability in OIF for the SAML 2.0 part. And even the "Enable Auditing" parameter for SAML 1.x that you mentioned would only record the assertions created and not the actual resource accessed. If you have a web security product stack (such as OAM) at the SP, that would typically have auditing capabilities.

Hi There,
We use Hperion Shared Services for Essbase User access control, I would like to run audit report periodically for documenttation purpose. However when I right click Essbase application --- Audit Report, I got the following message:
Auditing is disabled..
Where can I enable this?

In summary
Select Administration, then Configure Auditing.
On the Audit Configuration screen:
1.Select Enable Auditing to activate auditing. If this option is not selected, Shared Services does not support auditing at any level. By default, auditing is disabled.
2.Select Allow Global Settings Override to disable application group and application-level auditing. If this option is selected, application group and application-level task selections are discarded in favor of the global selections.
3.Optional: To remove old audit data from the system, in Purge Data Older than, set the number of days for retaining the audit data and click Purge.
4.From Select Tasks, select the tasks for which audit data is to be preserved. Tasks are categorized based on the applications registered with Shared Services.
5.Click OK.

Best Practice for Hyperion Planning : Essbase or Dataform for Adhoc Analysi

with Hyperion Planning, you are able to start an Adhoc Analysis from an Hyperion Planning Dataform or from an Essbase cube?
What is the best way / pro / contra ? thanks in advance
.... I 've juste notice that when you delete the dataform the Retrieve doesn't work anymore :-( .... and with Essbase you get some "un-useful" dimension as HSP_Value

A couple of other things that go with Planning as the data source:
1) You have access to all of the non-Essbase data -- think SmartLists, text (okay, it's there now in Essbase, but not from Planning applications) fields, supporting detail, etc. If you want users to see that relationally stored data, the only other way to get it in Excel is to run a Financial Reports report into Excel (or hack the tables and write SQL to pull the stuff -- did that pre 11x and it's too much work).
2) There's a performance hit when going against Planning, just like there is when Planning is the data source in Financial Reports.
Using a form to limit dimensionality - isn't that what SmartSlices are for? I guess it's another way to get to the same place. Although you have to administer the SmartSlices, I would imagine they would break less often than a form might. Having said that, once built, how often do you delete a form?
It's really nice that ad-hoc analysis from forms are now possible, but I've always thought of it as nice feature to have alongside data entry, never as the primary path into Essbase analysis.

To set up e-mail for workflow notification.
In planning - Administration > Application Settings
Under System Settings in the E-mail Server box - enter the smtp server information.
essbase.log will be in arborpath directory e.g. C:\hyperion\AnalyticServices\essbase.log
Also there is a log file for each application. e.g. C:\hyperion\AnalyticServices\app\Sample\Sample.log

Hyperion Planning Workspace - Export option missing in IE 8

Hello,
I am using v9.2 of Hyperion Planning. I noticed that the option to export Financial Studio Reports in Workspace does not appear in Internet Explorer 8 while in 6/7 it did. Is there any fix for this problem or any workaround?

I doubt IE8 is supported on 9.2, I know there are patches for 9.3 though I have not heard about any for 9.2, suppose Oracle want to force an upgrade.

ODI 10.1.3.5 with planning & essbase 11.1.2.1

Hi All,
I installed Hyperion in 11.1.2.1 64bit, Oracle Database 11g, ODI 10.1.3.5 64bit in windows environment. ODI works fine when connecting to relational database, but when tring to connect to planning or essbase, a driver error occurred.
Does anyone know this issue? Is there any additional adapter or driver for this version? If yes, please kindly provide me a link. thanks a lot.

And then I configurated Logical Architecture, imported RKM Hyperion Planning, LKM File to SQL, IKM SQL to Hyperion Planning. But strangely, a driver error occurred when I tried to reverse. Integrate active directory with Planning/ Essbase shared services security

Hi All,
we try to set up MSAD integration for Planning and Essbase 9.3.1.
Everyting works fine but the accounts that pop up are first and last name in the user field instead of the userid used in windows to login. so in windows i login with mroest but now in Hyperion i have to use Marc Roest.
DC=NL, DC=xxxx, DC=Corp
ID Attribute = ObjectGUID
User DN: CN=Adm Hyperion, OU=xxxx, OU=Utr
Can anyone please help how to use the samID as defined in MSAD instead of the full name as is now?

Hi John.
Do you know why OpenLDAP database would not migrate to the unique identity attribute say if I use sAMAccountName for the ID Attribute field on the MSAD User Configuration screen in Shared Service? It will not update the identity in OpenLDAP when I browse it, even after all the services have been restarted, including OpenLDAP and Shared Services...
Any help would be appreciated.
