Planning migration

Hi ,
We are planning to do migration for planning application version 11.1.1.1.3. My question is how many ways we can do planning migration, and which is better way?
Thanks in advance.

LCM will migrate all the objects e.g. web forms, task lists etc, it will migrate essbase objects but not data before version 11.1.2
If you use this method you don't have to copy the planning applications relational database.
If you use the relation database copy method it will take all of the planning application across at once, it does not do the essbase side.
Cheers

  • Planning Migration from Development Server to Testing Server

    Hi All,
I am doing migration from development env to testing env. I am stuck in the middle of the migration. Anyone please guide me in this situation. Its very urgent for me. I am following below steps for the planning migration
    1. Create a new database on Production RDBMS Server for your planning application.
I created the new database for my planning application.
    2. Configure a data source on Production Planning Server.
I configured the new datasource on planning.
    3. Create fresh planning application on Production Server and Ensure the admin is the same as your planning application on Development Server.
I created the new planning application on production server. Its working fine with admin login.
    4. Go into the database tables for the planning app on Production Server and look at table HSP_USERS; store the SID value against user 50001.
I save the SID value against 50001 in a notepad
    5. Go into the database planning system tables on Production Server and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application you have created.
I removed the version for the application i created
    6. Stop Planning.
         I stopped the planning services
    7. Restore the planning application database on Development over the one created in the first step (to the Production Server Database).
In this steps only, i am facing diffculities.
How to take the backup of development database? (Here, i want to the take the database backup of planning application schema  or entire oracle databat in development server)
How to restore to testing env database
Please anyone guide me in this situtation. Please......
    8. Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
    9. Start planning
    10. Go to planning web and you should see your application when you try and log in it should take you to a migrate screen.
    11. If you are requiring to migrate users as well, you will have to make sure you create them in Shared Services and then use the updateusers utility in the planning bin directory.
    Thanks,
    Lakshmi

    Hi Mars,
Thanks for your reply. I did the same as you specified. I used Imp instead of import, exp instead of export.
    7. Restore the planning application database on Development over the one created in the first step (to the Production Server Database).
I restored the Planning dmp here
    8. Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
Here, SID remains the same after restore the backup from the development server(SID same for Development and testing Server)
    9. Start planning
    I started the Planning Services.
    10. Go to planning web and you should see your application when you try and log in it should take you to a migrate screen
    I am facing problem here.
While login into planning application, its not redirect to migrate screen. Its normally login to the application
    Thanks,
    Lakshmi

  • Hyperion Planning migration error while refreshing/creating Essbase cube

    Hi,
I'm migrating a Hyperion Planning application (11.1.1.4) to a complete other environment (due to the split of the companies). I have read most post on otn, but unfortunately nothing that helped me to solve the issue, yet... I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance!
I have executed the following steps:
    1. Create a new Oracle database
    2. Create a datasource to the Oracle database and to Essbase (both tested succesfully)
    3. Create a fresh planning application (I have used a native Admin account and not the original owner)
    4. Go into the database tables for the planning app and look at table HSP_USERS, store the SID value against user 50001
    5. Go into the database planning system tables and HSPSYS_APPLICATION, clear out the version field for the application you have created - I did not do this since I could not delete this value. null is not accepted.
    6. Stop Planning
    7. Restore the planning application database over the one created in the first step (I had to drop the existing tables first)
    8. Go into the HSP_USERS table and update the SID for user id 50001
    9. Start planning
    10. Log on to planning and I did see the webforms, etc as expected.
    11. Now, when I try to refresh the database, I receive an error:
    Cube refresh/create in progress
    Status failed
    Step 4 Adding dimensions
    java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: getAttributeType
Does anyone has an idea? Hope someone can help me since the deadline is getting closer and closer.
    Thanks!
    Kind Regards
    Martin

    Hi John,
    Thanks for your reply.
I have exactly done what you have described. I droped the schema and recreated it with an impdp to import.
But, in the meantime I have been investigating the dimensions and there's indeed something very wrong. Some dimensions have been mixed up. In the 'old' environment I have 10 stored dimensions and 4 attribute dimensions (as well as in EAS as in Planning, offcourse as you expect). In the 'new' environment, two stored dimensions have been mixed up with two attribute dimensions.... How is that possible?
I have never seen that. Could this be caused by the reason that we use a different version of Oracle (11G release 2 vs 10G (10.2.0.4))? Or went something wrong with exporting the schema...? Can you tell me what I can do to investigate this?
    Thanks!
    Kind Regards,
    Martin

  • Installment Plan Migration failing (Emigall)

    Hi all,
I'm trying to migrate installment plan data using the INSTPLAN object.  I can upload successfully as long as I'm only migrating ONE payment.  The problem is when I try to migrate multiple payments.  The way I read the docs, I should just be able to send multiple IPDATA rows with the payment amounts and due dates, under one IPKEY row.
I've pared my data back to just sending as follows:
    IPKEY row with current dates
IPDATA row with due date 20090129, amount due 14
IPDATA row with due date 20090228, amount due 14.56
IPOPKY row with a Document id that relates to a single open item of 28.56.
I have verified in FPL9 that my open item is indeed that amount 28.56.  But the error that I get is:
"Sum total Inst. Plan is not equal to the original receivables"
So this makes me suspicious that I've done something wrong in the IPDATA rows - maybe it's recognizing only one of them?
Can anyone shed some light on this subject for me?
    Thanks,
    C N

One more thing I can't figure out, is how to load an installment plan where there is not an EXACT match of open items to the installment plan amount, so I need to partially clear one open item.
I've played around with using 000 and 001 for OPUPZ as the documentation indicates, but still I cannot get that scenario uploaded
Anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks

  • QM Inspection Plans migration - How to migrate deleted plans.

    Hello All,
I'm currently working on a migration project from 4.7 to 6.0.
Our customer wants to migrate all QM inspection plans, including those are marked as deleted (PLKO-LOEKZ = 'X').
I'm using BAPI_INSPECTIONPLAN_CREATE. The BAPI works fine when the inspection plan which is being loaded is not marked as deleted. But when I try to upload another one which is mark as deleted (BAPI1191_TSK_C-DEL_IND = 'X'), I get the following error from BAPIRETURN: "The object does not exist for scheduled deletion time" (Message class CPCC_DT, number 214).
Does anybody knows if it is possible to load inspection plans marked as deleted using this BAPI?

    C N,
The principal Idea is to migrate either
    - the original amounts, the installment plan and last the latest payments (you migrate payment history)
    - or to migrate the still open amount as one or more open items and subsequently an installment based on that amount.
    Kind regards,
    Fritz

  • Plan migration new domain.

    Hi Guys,
I am planning a stage migration from Domain_one to domain.two and an upgrade (New install) to exchange 2013. You will notice the underscore in Domain_one which is the reason for the migration
as we cannot install exchange 2013 (2007) with underscore in the domain.
I am hoping someone can review my plan overview and let me know if I am missing anything.
    Create new domain.two
    Create Trusted relationship between domains
    Add desktop to domain.two
Test communication from desktop to domain_one servers (Excluding Exchange)
    Install exchange domain.two
Setup exchange in domain_one to forward any mailbox that cannot be resolved on server to exchange server in domain.two
Use migration tool to migrate desktop to domain.two
Test Exchange in domain.two and migrated desktop access to domain_one
    Export / import mailbox.
    Migrate desktop in controlled process
    Migrate server to domain two.
Point inbound mail to exchange server domain.two
One of the question I have is how to create the access to server from domain.two to domain_one. I assume that I need to allow security in the format of domain.one\Security group.
Thanks for any advice in advance.
    Craig
    Craig

    Hi Craig,
About domain name, I would like to clarify the following thing:
    1. The domain name can contain Letters, numbers, or hyphens (-).
    2. The domain name should begin and end with a letter or a number.
What's more, I would like to verify if you do a staged Exchange migration.
Staged migration is used to migrate all the organization's mailboxes to Exchange Online.
Moreover, I recommend you perform a cross forest mailbox migration to a new Exchange 2013 Server that is installed in a new domain.
For more information, here is a blog for your reference.

  • System 9 Planning Migration

    Hi!
We are experiencing some issues with migration of security between our dev environment and production.
We are using native groups to maintain security in Planning, Reports and HBR. These native groups are migrated using the import/export utility. After having provisioned the groups in Shared Services (the utility contains bugs so it won't migrate provisioning only the groups) and assigned the users (or validated that they are there) we refresh security in Planning.
Alas, the access does not work. Next step is to force planning to suck in security from SS by changing settings in the DB and the recycle the environment. It then removes all the original groups in Planning and replaces them with HP_WHATEVERTHE_NANE_OF_THE_GROUP, i.e. the HP_ prefix. It also adds these to Shared services.
Basically how to move security from one app to another? We have pretty delicate security settings for accounts for example that we don't want to loose.
    Thanks,

  • Fusion 11 Planning migration error

    Hi,
1). After copying the planning schema from the old env to the new env (blank planning app already created+css migrated using new utility). Running a Refresh for the first time (with or without the security box checked), causes the dimension level planning security to be wiped out. The Planning web shows nothing and the relevant tables show nothing. Any ideas?
    2) The number of tables in 9.2 planning app schema are different from the Fusion 11 schema. A schema import would cause a shortage of tables for Fusion 11. Is this a concern?
    Env:
    Windows 2k3 System 9.2 to Fusion 11.1.2
    Thank you.
    Eric.

    Thanks for the response.
On first login, I can see all metadata and the migrate button as well. I used it and it was all good. The dimension security gets wiped on first Refresh (with or without the security box checked).
    Steps followed:
    1. Created Blank App in Fusion env. with new schema/data source
    2. Dropping all objects on the target schema and importing the source objects.
    3. Migrated Essbase objects via migration utility.
    4. Restarting services.
    5. Registering Shared Services.
    6. logging in and 'migrating' to new version
    7. Verify all metadata, forms, dim security exists.
    8. Refresh (with and without security filter checked).
    9. Login again to check metadata. All intact except dim security.
    Any suggestions?

  • LCM Planning Migration

I'm wondering what sort of LCM migration times people are experiencing on 11.1.2.1 for planning applications. I have one that's running for 20 minutes now and I'm wondering if it's hung or if for some reason planning takes an inordinate amount of time longer than Essbase.

The export should not take long though the first time import can take a long time if none of the members exist in the target application as it has to insert each member in the relational database, depending on the number of members it can take quite a while.
    Cheers

  • Planning migration error

Hello, We are on Hyperion 11.1.1.3. We have 2 environments QA and PROD. We have migrated from QA to PROD just by coping the oracle db's for those apps manually. We tried using LCM but stuck with some issues and avoided that. Oracle user id's are same in prod appwizard so, When we migrated the Oracle DB's, and tried to login, we are getting an error "failed to sync with user provisioning. Please check the log for details"
I understand to run a ProvisionUsers.cmd utility to over come this. But when we are running this utility, we are getting an error "[Hyperion][Oracle JDBC Driver][Oracle]ORA-01400: cannot insert NULL into ("EPM11_JF"."HSP_USERSINGROUP"."USER_ID")]
How should I over come this?
Also I can able to login into Shared Services and created a native user to test. I can able to login into planning apps with that userid.
Another issue with the native user is, we have 3 planning apps, when tried to give provision to these apps, I am able to expand selection and select, "Planner"/"Admin" but am unable to expand other applications in Shared services to give provisioning. What could be the reason for this.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

If you are using the migration of the schema method you need to be sure you are following the steps correctly.
Create a blank planning application on your target (if you have not already got one)
Stop planning web app on the target
Drop/recreate the oralce schema for the target planning application.
Migrate the schema from source oracle planning app to target.
If the application owner for source/target is the default admin account then you don't need to worry, if it is any other native user then you will have to update the SID (search this forum for 50001 and you will find lots of information)
run the updateusers utility to sync the rest of the users.
    Cheers

  • Planning : migration security of business rules

    Hello,
Unfortunetly the migrator for business rules (v. 9.2.0.3) don't migrate the security. Do somebody have a solution to migrate the securtiy with the business rules ? And, is there a solution to associate the BR with the forms automatically ?
    Thank you

It's almost easier to treat the migration of rules as text objects.
Basically cut/paste the rules, store in a repository as you would other source code a, cut/paste to target environment. This means the security on the rules in the target environment for existing rules is retained. Now for new rules you would have to provision the rules. The XML export does have a known issue with really large business rules (those about 485k or so when in text form) whereas the cut/paste method will always work. Now if you do have large rules, you can use Macros or Sequences to break up the size.
Your process ends up being dictated by corporate policy and the roles assigned to various individuals.

    -John

  • Hyperion Planning migration from 32-bit to 64-bit windows OS

    Hi All,
Planning is installed on 32-bit VM servers with windows 2003 Standard Edition in our environment and we are having memory issues when running in full load
Trying to understand whether we can move to move to 64-bit where it can help for increase in memory as required beyond 4 GB
Current version of Hyperion is 11.1.1.2 for some of the components(HFM,FDM,Planning,Essbase etc) and 11.1.1.3 for some components (HSS, workspace, FR,etc)
    a) Do we need to re install the Hyperion software after the OS is upgraded with 64-bit?
    b) Does the 32-bit applications created will support on 64-bit installations
    c) Do we have separate softwares for all OEPM components when it comes to 32-bit or 64-bit and not sure whether that difference is present for all components
    or only specific components
It would be of great help if anybody can post some ideas who have come across this situation
    Thanks

You are best having a look at the support matrix to see which products are 32/64bit and on which OS.
If you are looking to run 64bit planning on a windows OS then you are probably looking at 11.1.2
You need to install the software after the OS has been upgraded.
If you are talking about hyperion applications created on a 32bit platform then yes they will work on a 64bit platform.
Depends on the version to whether there are separate 32bit/64bit install files.
To be honest this is quite a detailed subject and I only give a quick overview on here, I recommend you getting in a consultant to discuss your options.
    Cheers

  • Migration of planning from essbase side

    Hi,
    Planning Migration have:
    1) migration of provisioning (CSSImportExport utility)
    2) migration of planning application (using schema restore on dummy application) (data form, outline, task list, etc....)
    3) migration of essbase objects for planning application (like business rule export/import, data export/import)
I am not sure which option should i use for moving calc script, report script, load rules, configuration file -.cfg, substitution variable, data cache settings etc)
should i use file copy to move file?
should i use migration utility inside EAS to move these information?
does the order of migration is correct 1, 2 and then 3.
    Version 9.3.1 to 9.3.1
    Please help.

    Hi John,
    Thanks for the help.
you mean to say copy file for calc script, report script, load rules.- which is OK for me.
what about configuration file -.cfg, substitution variable, data cache settings etc ?
what would be recommended for substitution variable, data cache settings, configuration file -cfg, etc)

  • IMac CPU3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB, Extremely slow and repeatedly "out of Memory" since migration from Mountain Lion to Mavericks

    Dear Apple Support Community.
As mentioned by a number of users reporting the same problem, my 2009 iMac CPU3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8GB RAM, has become extremely slow and repeatedly "out of Memory" since it was migrated from Mountain Lion to Mavericks (OS 10.9 then OS 10.9.1).
I have already run CleanMyMac, deleted 5GB of useless stuffs, which did not translate into any improvement. Following the advices collected in other Apple Support Community threads, I have applied EtreCheck the outcome of which is provided below.
For information, I have also upgraded my 2011 MacBook CPU2.3 GHz Core i7, 8GB which became only a bit slower than before, sometimes freezing which it almost never did before. However, I am used to the fact that Mac get usually slower and more prompt fo freeze after upgrading to a more recent OS.
Both my 2009 iMac and my 2011 MacBook have F-Secure installed. So the problem with the 2009 IMac is unlikly to be due to the presence of F-Secure. Interestingly, the few abnormalities found by Etrecheck were exacly identical before I ran CleanMyMac. There are two more findings (mentioned below) since I ran CleanMyMac on the 2009 iMac, which again didn't improve the problem.

Please find now some additional measurements collected with iStat while running EtreCheck:
    Practically:
The iMac can work slowly with only one software e.g. either Mail or Safari or Firefox, but still the below "out of Memory" message occurs about every 3 minutes.
Aperture has becomre to slow to be useable
If trying to write a mail (with Mail) while Safari or Firefox is open, then the "out of Memory" message occurs about every 20 seconds so I need to check on "Resume" several times per minute.
    Conclusions
From the above, unless anyone in the Apple Support Community proves to be able to identify a specific problem leading to a way to find a cure, I tend to conclude that Mavericks is not suitable for computers operating with a Core 2 Duo CPU even with a 8GB of RAM.
Unless I missed something, I did not see any warning from Apple Computer Inc. informing their customers they should refrain from upgrading Core 2 Duo Computers.
The only solution I see so far is to downgrade from Mavericks to Mountain Lion. And the Apple Support Community would confirm that it is the only solution, I would appreciate to get your guidance on how to proceed.
    Intended action plan
Migrate the above 2009 iMac to a 2014 Mac Mini Server operating on Mavericks to ensure that no data may be lost while downgrading to Montain Lion.
Provided the above downgrading operation is successful, assign this 2009 iMac to partial retirement e.g. Mail, Skype, iTunes  and DVD player.
In advance, I would like to thank the Apple Community for helping me either i) finding a cure to the problem, ii) or confirming that Mavericks cannot operate properly on Core 2 Duo computers, iii) and in such a case, guiding me on how to downgrade to Mountain Lion.
    Yours sincerely
    Core

... what anti-virus would you recommend using?
Use what is already included with OS X. It already includes everything it needs to protect itself from viruses and malware. Keep it that way with software updates from Apple.
A much better question is "how should I protect my Mac":
Never install any product that claims to "speed up", "clean up", "optimize", or "accelerate" your Mac. Without exception, they will do the opposite.
Never install pirated or "cracked" software, software obtained from dubious websites, or other questionable sources. Illegally obtained software is almost certain to contain malware.
Don’t supply your password in response to a popup window requesting it, unless you know what it is and the reason your credentials are required.
Don’t open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize, or click links contained in an email:
Most of these are scams that direct you to fraudulent sites that attempt to convince you to disclose personal information.
Such "phishing" attempts are the 21st century equivalent of a social exploit that has existed since the dawn of civilization. Don’t fall for it.
Apple will never ask you to reveal personal information in an email. If you receive an unexpected email from Apple saying your account will be closed unless you take immediate action, just ignore it. If your iTunes or App Store account becomes disabled for valid reasons, you will know when you try to buy something or log in to this support site, and are unable to.
Don’t install browser extensions unless you understand their purpose. Go to the Safari menu > Preferences > Extensions. If you see any extensions that you do not recognize or understand, simply click the Uninstall button and they will be gone.
Don’t install Java unless you are certain that you need it:
Java, a non-Apple product, is a potential vector for malware. If you are required to use Java, be mindful of that possibility.
Disable Java in Safari > Preferences > Security.
Despite its name JavaScript is unrelated to Java. No malware can infect your Mac through JavaScript. It’s OK to leave it enabled.
Block browser popups: Safari menu > Preferences > Security > and check "Block popup windows":
Popup windows are useful and required for some websites, but popups have devolved to become a common means to deliver targeted advertising that you probably do not want.
Popups themselves cannot infect your Mac, but many contain resource-hungry code that will slow down Internet browsing.
If you ever see a popup indicating it detected registry errors, that your Mac is infected with some ick, or that you won some prize, it is 100% fraudulent. Ignore it.
Ignore hyperventilating popular media outlets that thrive by promoting fear and discord with entertainment products arrogantly presented as "news". Learn what real threats actually exist and how to arm yourself against them:
The most serious threat to your data security is phishing. To date, most of these attempts have been pathetic and are easily recognized, but that is likely to change in the future as criminals become more clever.
OS X viruses do not exist, but intentionally malicious or poorly written code, created by either nefarious or inept individuals, is nothing new.
Never install something without first knowing what it is, what it does, how it works, and how to get rid of it when you don’t want it any more.
If you elect to use "anti-virus" software, familiarize yourself with its limitations and potential to cause adverse effects, and apply the principle immediately preceding this one.
Most such utilities will only slow down and destabilize your Mac while they look for viruses that do not exist, conveying no benefit whatsoever - other than to make you "feel good" about security, when you should actually be exercising sound judgment, derived from accurate knowledge, based on verifiable facts.
Do install updates from Apple as they become available. No one knows more about Macs and how to protect them than the company that builds them.
Summary: Use common sense and caution when you use your Mac, just like you would in any social context. There is no product, utility, or magic talisman that can protect you from all the evils of mankind.
