PLANNING ON TOTALS - AUTOMATIC DISAGGREGATION IN QUERY DESIGNER

I've seen that in the Bex Analyzer on the planning tab of key figures we have a functionality called PLANNING ON TOTALS with several possible disaggregation tecniques.
Next to it I have a warning message saying "NOT SUPPORTED BY SERVER".
If the system was somehow able to distribute following some basic distribution rules it could save lots of time on function and level customization.
Anyone knows what it's required to activate this functionality on the BW server.

Alberto

Dear IP consultants,
because it looks like to be a bigger problem in IP (in OSS or help is nothing documented), I would like to summarise. Maybe some can help:
I have read Mary's answer after we have discussed this here and in other forums.
Mary's answer was:
"Totals level planning or top down planning is scheduled for release in a couple of weeks. ...I would guess using attributes for top down planning would not be available yet but maybe Gregor or Marc can shed some light on that..........It is SPS12 and SP13"
Today morning I received the message from another consultant, he wrote:
"Attached is the screen shot of query designer..... look on the right side under planning tab I have the planning on totals option enabled. I have hierarchy display on, on one of the characteristic."
So it works in his system, he uses SAP_BW 700 0013 SAPKW70013 SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 (we have SAP_BW 700 0014 SAPKW70014, which should be better than in his system)
There was another reply above"...We have SPS12, but in Query designer, feature "planning on hierarchy nodes" not enabled. I see message "Not Supported by Server". Can you explain this problem? Where i can find any documentation about new features of BI-IP functionality like "disaggregation" and "planning on hierarchy nodes"?
So the official explanation is: This functionality is available. But the practise and mails shows that it works in special cases only. What kind of special customising has to be done to activate it? Is there anyone, who has any idea, what the reason could be?

  • How to Change parameters passed in Iview generated by Query Designer

    Hello,
We are running Netweaver 2004s with Portal integrated.
From the BW Query Designer (SAPGUI tool on desktop) it is possible to 'publish to portal'.
This generates an 'iview' in the portal.  This is GREAT,  but......
The 'Bex Web Application Query String' in the iview is built automagically
    (e.g. QUERY=ZBFPR_C99_Q001&USE_PERSONALIZATION=false)
The QUERY= part is fine, however I can't figure out where the '&USE_PERSONALIZATION=false' comes from - and we MAY want to change this.
We definitely would like to ADD '&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X' to this 'query-string' as it is automatically built in Query Designer.
Obviously,  we can manually change each iview that is built, but this will become a maintenance nightmare.
I have experimented with modifying the template (a copy of 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN), but we are using this template for 'ad-hoc' queries as well as the underlying template for query execution in the Portal. I got the template to behave nicely as 'ad-hoc' query executioner,  and know that if the iview has this extra parameter it behaves as desired.  I would rather not create a second template to render the queries, but this is also an option if no way can be found to add the parameter to the generated iview.
I have searched every source known to me (SPRO, Portal 'templates', SDN,  several books, google) and have not been able to find any inclination of how this 'string' can be customized, although there are several references to the parameters that can be passed in the iview (manually maintained).
Your comments and assistance is much appreciated.
    Martin.
    UK.

Mira,   Sounds like you have done (almost) all the things you need to do....
If you are initiating the 'template' (ad-hoc Web Bex) via the Portal, you will have to change the iview in the Portal as well - under Content admin:
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.bexwebanalyzer
This is 'hard-coded' to call 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN, you will need to change it to use your copy of the template.
If you are not using the Portal, then it may depend on how you are calling the Web Bex template (We set up some stuff in SICF, I think, and a little script which would call http://fgukcbpbbd001:8000/sap/bw/BEx - which would initiate the 3.5 Web Bex (not quite what you are wanting, but may give some clues).
    Check the iview first.
    Hope this helps.
    Martin.

  • Drill down by customer only for 1 year (only total then) in query designer

    Hello experts,
I face a need I don't manage to fit with the query designer. It sounds easy, but I didn't find solution after few trials.
The target report has to look like that :
           01.2010   02.2010   03.2010   04.2010   u2026   12.2010   Total
    Customer

2007      total           total          total          total    total      total      total
The particular point disturbing me is to display detailled ratio according to customer caractéristique ONLY for the current year (2010) and ONLY TOTAL for past years.
Thanks in advance for help, points will be awarded.
    Guillaume

    Hi Petiaux,
All the replies have been correct & all you need to do is a combination of a few. A step-by-step approach for your report, I'll explain in detail, and please correct me if I'm wrong.
    01.2010 02.2010 03.2010 04.2010 u2026 12.2010 Total
    Customer
cust 1 ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio Total
cust 2 ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio Total
cust 3 ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio Total
cust 4 ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio Total
cust 5 ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio Total
cust 6 ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio ratio Total
Year 2010 total total total total total total total
So, the above is the first set of details you need to make. Follow up by using offsets for 1 variable followed up till the 12th month. Create a variable for 0CALMONTH (Cal Yr-Month) in a selection. Follow up by copying this variable 12 times, changing the offset of the input varaible to +1, +2, etc..
Now for the next set as below, there are 2 approaches.
2009 total total total total total total total
2008 total total total total total total total
2007 total total total total total total total
    1. If you are using i/p variable as Cal-Month, then its best you can approach to find the differences by making a selection for the same variable in a range like New Var (EnterMonth -12 : Enter Month -23 ). Same fashion, approach to calculate (EnterMonth - 24 : EnterMonth-35) etc. But limitations are there for this approach, as you need to select ranges & with each year you need to update the query.
    2. Use CELL Editor: At the top of the icon tray, you can notice a 'cell' symbol, wherein you can find the cell editor. Under the 2009, 2008, 2007 headings you can choose to create a selection with following restrictions: 0CALYEAR (Cal Year) as varaible. But the only thing here is the input variable for this query must be 2 seperate variables > One CALYEAR & another CALMONTH. So this is another approach, where user will have option to enter cal month & cal year seperately in 2 different text input boxes.
    3. Perform the calculation for 2010. Copy the same for 2009,2008,2007 etc with offsets. You can try hiding the rest of the month feilds, after calculating the total for all months of the years in 2009,2008 etc using offsets. Although it sounds crazy idea, but sometimes if customers require such an output we need to do something crazy though. I hope it might work, but as stated its the last option if nothing works out.

  • Not able to enter data in query designer

    hi
can any one help, i created a input ready query on multi provider contain both standered and real time cube, here real time cube not contain any data.
when i created layout by taking 2 chracteristics and 2 key figures from real time cube it give me like " no data available".
what i have to do here to enter data to realtime cube key figure

First check if you have created aggregate level.
Second check the loading behavior setting on the Realtime infocube- it must be set to "Real- Time Data Target can be planned, data loading not allowed’'.
Third, query must be also input ready- in other words set the Selections (key figures) to input ready in Query designer.
Finaly, when you open context menu over the query, Bex Analyzer' Analysis grid, you can check the input ready settings for every cell if you want. If you did all steps, mentioned in the text above, input ready check box will be automatically checked for every cell of input enabled keyfigures...

  • Hide a row or column for characteristic value # in Query Designer

    Hi gurus,
I would if we could hide a result row / column if one of the characteristic value is #. The requirement is actually to remove the meaningless row / column from the whole result set. For example, I have a char Material Group in the column. Since not every Material is assigned to a Material Group, I will get the following layout:
    Material_Group A
    Material_Group B
    Material_Group C
Is it possible to define in query designer so that the column with # will automatically not be displayed?
    Thanks,
    Meng

    Hi Meng,
I guess we have the same users..
But there is one thing that is going to make a non sense on the report: if you do not display the "#" for material group, then the total of your query by material group will not be the summation of what is displayed on the screen...and if the user explort the information in Excel (pretty sure they will do so), you will have some calls that your query does not balance....
Based on that assumption, tell the users to assign a material group to the materials, so that this unassigned column disappears. You could even give them a control report listing all the parts that do not have a material group
If this is a standard business rule not to have a material group for all parts, then, what you could do is to change the text for empty rows for Material group, then the "#" will disappear and wil be under the text description you defined.
But keep in mind that your data is made of materials which do not have a material group in their definition, noraml or not ?

  • Calculated quantity evolution in Query Designer

    Hello,
I have a few short questions regarding ways of calculating a quantity evolution key figure in Query Designer:
I have a sales figure, let's say an order quantity. I'd like to have it's evolution calculated and displayed (based on another variable with a time period selection) next to it.
    - Is there any other way of entering the following formula for the calculation then: (figure A - figure A(N-1)) / figure A (N-1) * 100 ?
    - I would like to have a positive sign when this calculated evolution is positive as well as the percentage symbol next to it (eg: +15%). Is there a way to do this?
    - Is there a way to automatically fill the time period selection for the variable (using for example a current week - 1)?
    Thanks for your proposals.
    Best regards,
    Olivier

    Hi there:
I think i understand what you are asking for. I just did a similar calculation myself after lot of research. Hope i can save you that trouble.
We calculated Change from prior week key figure this way.
In our Open Sales Order Position Report we have Open Order as of a particular day. But users want to know how their open order position changed from last week as of sunday of last week.
We came up with a solution to create an open order position snapshot InfoCube and store the Open Order value in that cube as of every sunday. The data will be delieted every sunday and reloaded via APD from the current open order position InfoCube.
We run a query on the open order InfoCube to get the total open order position based on different characteristics of interest.
Then load it to a DSO with direct update using APD.
Then we load it from this DSO into the prior week infocube.
Then we have a MultiProvider which puts the current open order InfoCube and the Prior Week Open Order InfoCube.
We created a query on this MultiProvider which gives both the current open order position and last week's open order position and we make a cacluation to subtract the two to give us the change from prior week.
If we need a percentage we can calculate from this difference using percentage function.
When we load to prior week open order InfoCube, we use System Date function available in the transformation by formula to calculate the 0CALWEEK to store the week of the prior week data.
In the query i have a key figure for current open position and another key figure for prior week open position each restricted by InfoProvider.
If you are not deleting the prior week data every week, you can add a restriction in the prior week open position as (0CALWEEK -1) so it will always get only last weeks data.
    Hope this makes sense.
    Good Luck.

Lets say that 10 broadcasted reports all could use the same query but each in a different navigational state.
    1. Can you navigate the query and save as a view and then set up a brodacast rule for that view?
    2. Can a DataProvider in a web template be a view?
    3. Can the BI Launcher iView take a view name in place of a query?

  • Difference between  aggregation and calculation tab in BEx Query Designer

    HI,
I am using BEx Query Designer for my report, for the key figures in the coloumn area i slected one numeric key figures, in  the properties tab i found aggregation tab and calculation tab.
I need to sum up the total values for that particualar coloumn, when i used calculation tab i found to sum all the values for a particular coloumn, then what is the use the aggreagation tab?
I not able to used that Aggregation tab it is showing as a hidden fields...
can any one tell me whats the exact difference between these tabs and when we need to use which tab?
    With Regards,
    Thanesh Kumar.

    Hi Thanesh Kumar,
I moved this thread from forum Data Warehousing to Business Explorer since it is a query related question (as SDN moderator).
I could explain to you the difference between these two tabs.
For "calculation" tab, it changes the display of result and does not change the calculation logic.
It means that, if this key figure is used further in formula, still the original number (without "calculation" tab setting)  is used for further formula calculation.
For "aggregation" tab, it changes the real calculation logic.
The system takes the setting as the aggregation rule for records.
The most common aggregation rule is of course summation. If you set to e.g. Average here, the system does the
Average instead of summation when aggregating records. And the Average value will be taken for calculation
in further formulas or other calculations.
For "aggregation" tab, you could only use it for CKF (calculated key figure) or formula and you could not use it for
a basic key figure. That should be the reason why you see it greyed-out.
    Regards,
    Patricia

    1. In the Query Designer, choose Cells (open) from the toolbar or use the menu option under View to reach the Cell Editor functions.
    2. You can now use four different functions.
    New Selection
u2022 Select a cell in the Cells dialog box, and use the right mouse
    button to choose New Selection.
    u2022 Define the required selection.
u2022 Enter a description for the selection and choose OK.
    New Formula
u2022 Select a cell in the Cell dialog box, and use the right mouse button to choose New Formula.
u2022 Define the required formula. Enter a description for the formula
    and choose OK.
    New Cell Reference
Each cell that you define can be reused in formulas. If you want to reuse the value of the implicit generic cell definition that automatically occurs at the intersection of two structure parts of a query, select this cell in the Cell Definition dialog box, and choose New Cell Reference using the right mouse button. The description arising from the two structure parts
automatically appears in the cell. You can now refer to this cell.
    Additional cells
Click on the cell adjacent to the Help Cells and choose the required option if you need additional cells for auxiliary selections or formulas which are not already included in the query structure you have defined from the construction of rows and columns.

  • How to restrict the attribute values for the user in query designer

    Hi All,
I have a requirment where certain user would see certain vailes in the query desiner of the attribute.
The requirment is we have planing material which is attribute of material
When X user want to restrict the  values for planning material ,where he is able to see all the planning material. But who is not authorized for all the value.
Ex: X user has authorization for see planning material 100,101,102. of material But when he try to restrict the planning material in query designer where is getting all values of planing material.
    Or
is there way to blank the restriction help.so that he can't able to see values while restricting
Please some one can advise me on it..

    Hi,
    Let me sum up:
you have an object ZPLNMAT for the planning material
you have the object 0MATERIAL for material and this object has ZPLNMAT as attribute.
If you can restrict in the query designer, I suppose this attribute is then as navigationnal and also added in the multi-provider.
The object ZPLNMAT is checked as relevant for authorization, and you set up a role with the attached values of ZPLNMAT this user should have access to.
Are you sure the users are restricting on the ZPLNMAT object and not 0MATERIAL, because you should have everything now

  • Scope of Planning for Total Planning

    Hi SAP Gurus,
My Client Scenario is as follows
They import Spare Part materials from abroad to a Main Warehouse (defined as Plant in SAP) and then do stock transfer to around 60+ warehouse in different states (each defined as Plant in SAP).
At any time Stock exists in any of 60+ Plant and Main ware house Plant. However Purchase requirement and Purchase Order is created and placed from Only Main Warehouse Plant.
Now I am implementing Consumption based Planning with MRP.  I am Planning to define a Scope of Planning for Total Planning.
    Clarification I request :
    1. Whether I need to define Only all 60+ Plants in Scope of Planning or can I include Main warehouse Plant also ?
    2. In which case if there is requirement in one individual Plant and there exists stock in another one Plant - whether system will automatically create stock transfer Planned order. What Special procurement type I need to define for this (If it is 40 , whether I need to define any Issuing Plant, since I have 60 + Plants)
    3. If I have to run Forecast and Planning run daily for 60+ Plants and weekly for Main warehouse Plant, Whether I need to create a Separate Scope of Planning for 60+ Plants and a Separate Variant for Main ware house Plant with different Schedules - Am I correct
    Thanks and Regards,
    R.Velmurugan.

    Hi Kumar,
    Thanks for your immediate response.
If we define Special procurement type 40 for 60+ warehouse Plants materials with Supplying plant as Main Warehouse Plant, then if there exists stock in one of 60+ Plants and there is requirement in one of another 60+ plants how system will consider and create stock transfer between them.
Whether stock transfer between 60+ as well as Main plant is Possible ? If possible how to define Special Procurement type ?
Secondly what ever issued from 60+ Plants is the real Consumption of Material (as Material issued from Main ware house plant to 60+ Plants is only stock transfers and not real consumption).
In which case how to go about for forecast and MRP run for 60+ Plants and Main plant ?
    Thanks,
    R.Velmurugan
