Plans for Applications

Does anybody out there have plans to install oracle applications
on Oracle 8i Linux?
Would be interested in any information that you have received
from Oracle related to support, etc.
Thanks in advance

HI Globin,
You can follow the article: Creative Cloud applications ask for serial number which might help you to get this issue fixed.
Let me know if you face any issues while working on that.

  • Heading "Flor Plan Manager Application for xyz"

    Hi experts,
When I create a new document in SRM I get a pop up. The heading of that browser window very shortly has a title that reflects what I'm actually doing. E.g. "shop" for a Shopping Cart. Then the heading changes to "Floor Plan Manager Application for xyz". This heading doesn't mean anything to users and is confusing.
How can I change this heading to something meaningful, or at least display "Shop" instead of "Floor Plan Manager Application for GAF" in case of the Shopping Cart Wizard.
    Best regards,
    Marcus

    Hi Marcus,
I think it is related to particular webdynpro component.  You need to identify the view of WDC, and then what action linked by the UI element.  Study the action to locate the method being called.
For example SRM 7 SP5, shop in 4 steps (wizard), when you click "Change Personal Default Settings", the popup title is "Floor Plan Manager Application for GAF".  So you find out the WDC is "/SAPSRM/WDC_DODC_SC_GAF_C", view is "V_DODC_SC_GAF_FSCA", action is "DEFAULT_SETTINGS".  The method being called is
"/SAPSRM/IF_CLL_DOM_SCW_CA~DEFAULT_SETTINGS", in which the coding open popup windows does not include title.
You may compare similar method called in one-step (professional) screen, the method is "/SAPSRM/IF_CLL_DODM_SC_H_BD~DEFAULT_SETTINGS" and the title is defined in class's text symbols.
This was fixed by Note 1393966.
Similar logic may be applied to your case.

    Dear experts,
awrsqrpt.sql is showing multiple executions plans for a single SQL statement. How is it possible that one SQL statement will have multiple Executions Plans within the same AWR report. If you're using bind variables and you've histograms on your columns which can be created by default in 10g due to the "SIZE AUTO" default "method_opt" parameter of DBMS_STATS.GATHER__STATS it is quite normal that you get different execution plans for the same SQL statement. Depending on the values passed when the statement is hard parsed (this feature is called "bind variable peeking" and enabled by default since 9i) an execution plan is determined and re-used for all further executions of the same "shared" SQL statement.
If now your statement ages out of the shared pool or is invalidated due to some DDL or statistics gathering activity it will be re-parsed and again the values passed in that particular moment will determine the execution plan. If you have skewed data distribution and a histogram in place that reflects that skewness you might get different execution plans depending on the actual values used.
Since this "flip-flop" behaviour can sometimes be counter-productive if you're unlucky and the values used to hard parse the statement leading to a plan that is unsuitable for the majority of values used afterwards, 11g introduced the "adaptive" cursor sharing that attempts to detect such a situation and can automatically re-evaluate the execution plan of the statement.

  • Help with DR plan for Exchange & SQL Server vDP 6 please.

    Hi there,
I just need a little guidance building a backup & DR strategy using vDP and/or VR. SRM is probably not in the budget right now.
First question about "Application" backup recovery.... Do I need BOTH a "Guest Image" & "Application" backup of these servers to be able to recover in case of disaster? I'm guessing YES, since when I try to "Restore" an Application backup, I only see the Exchange or SQL databases for example. I do not see the actual VM C:\ drive, etc. Would I use a "Guest Image" restore, THEN an "Application" restore for a full recovery? What happens if your SQL database is on the C:\ drive, you will be backing them up double in this scenario, once in Guest Image, then again in Application backups?
Next question.... I've tested VR to a remote location (no SRM yet), and it worked well. I consider this a good DR plan for what we need. We currently use TSM for backups. If I change to local vDP backup + replicated vDP backups at the remote site, would this be a good replacement instead of VR? Our RTO is not a huge issue. Can I recover the replicated backups easily to the remote hosts? I realize the advantages of SRM, and I would need to do more manual steps, but our budget is tight.
    Thanks for your help.

As with many things, these answers depend a lot on your environment, that said, from my experience as a customer, partner (and now with VMware) here are my answers:
    - Depending on the application both guest and application can be a good idea. If you have applications with agents, I think it often makes sense to use them.
    - You are correct that if you need to recover the entire VM, you would recover the VM image  and then the application backup (if it was needed - there is a likelihood that the application backup may not be needed)
    - You are correct, you are very likely backing up the application data twice. Seems worthwhile to me for the right applications, you'll have to evaluate for your environment
    - VR or backups can work as a DR solution, especially if RTO isn't an issue. The main difference I see between them is RPO. VR can go as low as 15 mins, backups are usually 24 hours so again, it depends on your requirements. One additional benefit to SRM is the ability to non-disruptively test your DR plan which I think is one of the best parts of it. Totally understand about budget. I would recommend building and testing your DR plan and communicating the resulting RPO/RTO to the business so they are aware.

  • How to create dynamic calc account in multi-plan type application

    Hi expert,
I have a planning application with 3 plan types.
I created a calculation script which fixed on accounts in plan type 1 only and the calculation suppose to calculate a "dynamiccalc" account with a member formula attached. Everytime I run the script, it takes very long time and I found there are sessions at the back of essbase with "Process local xref/xwrite request" request to other plan types.
It does not has this kind of session if I change the account to "store".
Would like to check, is it possible to create a dynamic calc account to calculate for only 1 plan type in a multi-plan type application? Is there any special setting that I need to do to enable this? I already selected source plan type as Plan type 1 for my dynamic calc account. Please help!
    Many thanks!!
My HP application is on version 11.1.2.1.

    Hi Jake,
Thanks for pointing out the check box. Overlooked it and the checkbox was not unchecked, even I only wanted the account to exist in 1 of the plan type.
However, after I unchecked and refresh now, when I run the calc script, it still trigger process at the back to the other 2 plan types with "Process local xref/xwrite request" request. What else could I have missed?
I already added the "HSP_Nolink" UDA to all accounts in plan type 2 and plan type 3 and confirmed that there's no account with "Xref" member formula, I really don't know why it is trying to process local xref request. Can anyone help??
    Many thanks!!!

  • Is there a plan for Apple to continue offering the external iSight camera?

    Hi All,
I'm thrilled to be the new owner of a Mac Pro w/Cinema display, but I'm getting jealous of my partner on his MacBook Pro with built-in iSight camera, having all the fun with video iChats and video Skype calls.
Since Apple has discontinued sales of the old external iSight camera, does anyone know if they have any plans for a new (even cooler) version? Or, if not, any recommendations on another product that would work just as well?
    Thanks!

    Hello John and Peter
¶2.1.1 of Apple Discussions' Terms of Use prohibits us from speculating on Apple's plans here. If you want to pursue that question, you can search the web for some of the many Mac or Apple rumor sites.
Some of the many available iSight alternatives are discussed in this link. Because you are using Leopard on your new Mac Pro, all of the alternatives mentioned there are available to you.
At present, the Apple Store sells the Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision. However, any of the alternatives from the link in the paragraph above will work as long as they are compatible with your system and the applications you plans to use with your camera. The package documentation for many cameras list compatibility info for popular applications. Carefully check the documentation for any apps and cameras of interest before you buy.
Also check the camera's advertised features to be certain your compatible camera has all features that are important to you (examples: auto-focus, auto-exposrure, zoom capablility, integrated microphone, etc..) You may not need many, or even any, of these features, but many low priced Mac compatible cameras omit at least some of the features that you may need.
You will not have any difficulty finding cameras that will work with both iChat and Skype. For specific camera recommendations for iChat, search the iChat and iChat Sharing Forum for threads like this one.
For Skype-specific questions beyond what Webcams that Skype sells for use with their software, see the Skype Help pages.

  • Planning for iMac i7

I'm planning for my move from a G4 PowerMac running Tiger to a 27" iMac and need help with some questions:
Does Time Machine do the same job as Carbon Copy Cloner which I now use? Is it reliable?
Should I partition the 1TB HD? Can't get used to that space after having only 80GB.
I have a small library of disks of Art, Italian literature,Histories and National Geographic Maps that require Windows 95 or later; will I be able to display these on the iMac, and how?
I have at least 50 applications, from utilities to photo and recording programs, Toast and eReaders - in general, are most of these likely to need upgrading to run on Snow Leopard or is SL backwardly compatible with them?
Would transferring these apps likely to cause any conflicts if they won't run on SL?
Be grateful for advice from anyone who has had this experience.

Does Time Machine do the same job as Carbon Copy Cloner which I now use? Is it reliable?
They do more or less the same thing, but they do it differently. Carbon Copy Cloner's strength is in doing full, bootable clones of your hard drive, something Time Machine cannot do (it can do a full backup, but the backups aren't bootable). Time Machine's strength is in doing incremental backups with a very easy interface for restoring a file. I use both; Time Machine for my day-to-day backups, and CCC for an occasional full clone of my boot volume.
Reliability of TM is an open question: I've never had a bit of problem with it, but some people have. I could say the same about CCC, though. A "belt and suspenders" approach to making backups is IMHO a wise policy, particularly when dealing with irreplaceable content.
Should I partition the 1TB HD? Can't get used to that space after having only 80GB.
My usual advice is if you have to ask the question - that is, you don't already know of a need for multiple partitions - then you probably don't need to partition.
I have a small library of disks of Art, Italian literature,Histories and National Geographic Maps that require Windows 95 or later; will I be able to display these on the iMac, and how?
You may be able to to display them, but whether you can and what you'll need to do will depend on how these disks are created. If they're standard image files, in all probability there will be a Mac OS X application that can display them. But if they have proprietary display applications, then you would probably have to run Windows, either via Boot Camp or one of the virtualization solutions (Parallels Desktop, VMWare Fusion, VirtualBox) so that you can run the program.
I have at least 50 applications, from utilities to photo and recording programs, Toast and eReaders - in general, are most of these likely to need upgrading to run on Snow Leopard or is SL backwardly compatible with them?
There is a high probability that you will have to upgrade some if not all of your apps. Even if you don't absolutely have to upgrade, you'll want to get versions that contain code for the Intel processor so that the applications run with best performance. Check with the developer of each application for statements on Snow Leopard and Intel compatibility.
Would transferring these apps likely to cause any conflicts if they won't run on SL?
They might. It depends on the application, so we can't provide a blanket statement. Again, consult the developers.
    Regards.

  • Explain Plan for Procedure

    Hi,
For getting the explain plan for a query, we use the statement
"explain plan for " + Query
Similarly, to get an explain plan for a procedure, do we have any way like
    "explain plan for " + "Execute " + Procedure
How do we get an explain plan for a procedure that is executed
    Thanks in Advance.

    teckfreak wrote:
    Hi Robert,
I am working on an utility application which will execute the procedure and show the explain plan to the user for him to analyze the explain plan and take necessary steps for optimization. I am showing the Procedure inputs to the user, allowing him to enter values and taking them and executing the procedure. I am setting the trace and extracting the explain plan for the procedure using TKPROF utility and showing it to the user.
While doing so, the trace file is stored in udump folder. I am accessing the trace file from TKPROF utility. I am able to run the TKPROF from the command prompt. But if I try automating the TKPROF command in a .NET application using Process.Start, it says "Not able to access the file.". I tried giving full permissions to Everyone and it still throws the error. Kindly guide me how to proceed.. A different approach that you might want to consider (as indicated by William):
    - Flush the shared pool and use a unique MODULE description for each execution of your procedure (e.g. using DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO.SET_MODULE), e.g. using a logon trigger
    - Query V$SQL for your unique MODULE description and run DBMS_XPLAN.DISPLAY_CURSOR for each corresponding child cursor found (SQL_ID + CHILD_NUMBER) in the shared pool. This plan generation could be automated using a procedure
The result of this approach corresponds to the tracing using TKPROF since it will provide the actual execution plans used at runtime rather than separate EXPLAIN PLAN results which might differ from the actual plans.
This assumes that your shared pool is sufficiently large to hold all the child cursor created by your procedure without aging them out while the procedure is running. It's probably also only applicable to an environment where not too much work is being done while running this test and the recommended flushing of the shared pool.

  • MS Project plan for the upgrade of 10.7 SC to 11i

Can some kind person supply me with a MS Project plan for the
upgrade of 10.7SC to 11i. Our applications are GL/AP/FA/Project
Acc. Any other doco would be most helpful.
    Thank you
    [email protected]

We have completed our first upgrade of FA from 10.7 SC to 11i. Most issues arose from the introduction of WorkFlow for Account Generator. In addition we have had difficulty activating the "security by book" new feature. This is still under investigation. We upgraded PO, AP, FA and GL. I can say that more than half of our time has been spent resolving FA issues.
The length of time the task will take will depend on which functionality you use. Have you seen the upgrade kit on metalink? it has all the upgrade steps. From that you could determine how many steps you need to perform.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to fix different execution plan for different bind variable values?

Please find the below query. The execution plan is fine. The problem That I am facing is in some cases for different bind variable values execution plan gets changed and degrades performance. I have used 6 tables here and all of the tables have histogram on all columns. Database version is Oracle 10g and the value of method_opt is 'For all columns size auto'

After searching in several blogs I have found the below solutions. Please see it and let me know it is correct or not
Solution 1:-Get rid of histogram that does nothing but messes up execution plan by giving below command
    exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(owner, tablename, method_opt => 'for all columns size 1', cascade => true);
As 6 tables are there I need to execute above command 6 times.
Solution 2:- Use stored outline. Not sure how to get the best execution plan.
I am looking for answers ASAP. Thanks in advance

As you have probably read, bind variables and histograms do not mix well.
Histograms suggest that you have skew in your data such that different values should get different plans
Bind variables exist so that SQL with different supplied values can be shared.
Mix the two together and at parse time with bind variable peeking you get plans for specific values shared for all values.
The solutions you have mentioned are the common approaches, together with a third - use literals not binds if you've got data skew (i.e. your histograms are justified) and don't want shared SQL.
I would have thought that getting rid of some of these histograms may be the right approach if you're none of your application SQL is using literals to benefit from them.
Can you confirm your version of Oracle.

  • Steps to create Planning Sample Application in EPM11.1.2

    Hi,
Can anybody provide me any helpful sources for the steps to create Planning sample application in EPM11.1.2.
I tried in OBE and couldn't get step by step process for EPM11.1.2.
If Possible please provide a link where I can follow step by step process.
    Thank you
    Venky

    John,
Thank you for the reply. I created the data sourceusing workspace.
I have few questions while creating the application.
    1. Do I need to create a blank application or follow the steps
    2. Folow the steps means with out selecting blank application click next and define all new dimensions that are there in .ads file
    scenario
    year
    period
    Entity
    Account
    Version
    Segments
    Currency
with these create the application. Then I validated and got 4 errors. I am not able to deploy it.
While creating the application it never asked me datasource details.
Where I shoud provide the datasource details?
    Thank you

  • Copy planning for cost center Runtime error

    Dear Gurus,
I am running KP97 to copy planning for cost center.
but I got following runtime error:
    ===================================================================
    Runtime Errors         DYN_CALL_METH_CLASS_NOT_FOUND
    Exception              CX_SY_DYN_CALL_ILLEGAL_CLASS
           Occurred on     07.01.2009 at 13:21:25
    What happened?
    Error in ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "SAPLGUMD " had to be terminated because one of the
    statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
    What can you do?
Print out the error message (using the "Print" function)
and make a note of the actions and input that caused the
    error.
To resolve the problem, contact your SAP system administrator.
You can use transaction ST22 (ABAP Dump Analysis) to view and administer
termination messages, especially those beyond their normal deletion
    date.
    Error analysis
An exception occurred. This exception is dealt with in more detail below
. The exception, which is assigned to the class 'CX_SY_DYN_CALL_ILLEGAL_CLASS',
    was neither
caught nor passed along using a RAISING clause, in the procedure
    "USER_REFRESH_RE_EA" "(FORM)"
Since the caller of the procedure could not have expected this exception
to occur, the running program was terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
Class "CL_REEX_COPL_MASTERDATA_CHECK" was chosen during dynamic method call,
    but could not be found.
    =====================================================================
can anybody give me a hint how to solve the problem?
    B.R.
    George
Hi all, I searched the SAP notes, and found there is one note NOTE_0000632335 related to copy planning, I installed the note by TCode snote. the KP97 can run now, but for the IDES controling area 1000, I tried to test run copy version 0, period 1 to 12 from Fiscal year 2003 to 2004.
there are many records with error.
shall I ignore the error , unselect the test run and continue?
does anyone have similar experience with IDES R/3 4.71? why cannot I carry out all steps in online document for IDES?
    B.R.

Hi I checked the error with copying plan data. it's all because of 'plan data already exists'.
so I just ignore the error and continue.
    thanks!
