Play local video file from MIDlet

Hi there,
I'm developing a video-related MIDlet application and I'm wondering which is the best strategy to play video on mobile phones.
Since my video are very simple clips, my idea was to put them inside the jar and play them from there, however it seems to me that playing video from resource:/ URL is not allowed, is it true? Do I have to use file:/ URL or anything else? I would like to avoid streaming from HTTP.
Finally, which is the minimum format that every phone CLDC/MIDP compliant should be able to play, MPEG1? Then if I code in MPEG4 there's no guarantee that is playable on every phone, isn't it?
Many thanks in advance,
Matteo.

hi
if u add the your file in jar n jad file that it wont do http connection. then u have to use something called getResourceMethod("file name") mathod
yes we are having fille:/.. something like that that is jsr-75 buk it wont support by many of mobile model

  • Playing 4k video files from microsd?

Hello guys, im wondering if there is a possibility to playback 4k UHD video files on a ipad air or ipad air 2 from a microsd card?
I have no idea if the apple camera connection kit supports this?
and if yes or no are there different options?
I would like to do this without the need for a mac or PC, for when i am on vacation.
    Let me know please!

My apologies if I inadvertently offended you.
iLife refers to a group of applications (iMovie, iDVD, iWeb, Garageband) and would have been bundled (pre-installed) with your operating system.
Somewhat confusingly the applications included with iLife 8 are all version 7! If you look at one of the application mentioned above inside your applications folder, and click on Get Info in the File Menu of Finder, it will tell you what version it is.
If, for example, iDVD is version 7, then you have iLife 8 and can download version 6.0.4 for free.
But you may or may not be able to use AVI files in iMovie, as this is not a native format on a Mac (AVI is an outdated container primarily used in the Windows environment), although if they play in iTunes then it seems that Quicktime can recognise them - Quicktime is the 'backbone' also of iMovie.
As I said, AVI is a container for video files but can be in any number of codecs. To find out if, and possibly how, you may need to convert them for use in iMovie, try playing them using Quicktime Player. Whilst doing to click on Windows in the Quicktime menu, then on Movie Inspector. This will show the details of the codec used.
Please post back with what you find.

  • I had bought wi-reader and can play video format like .mp4 directly from hard disk attached to wi-readerbut just wondering if I can play other video file from device like avi.

    Pls advise

Well, in my opionion, you've moved things around so much, it would be better to just clear your current iTunes library and rebuild it.
IMPORTANT - I am talking about clearing the iTunes library file, not deleting song files from your hard drive.
I personally never use WAV files, because I like the tags that come with MP3. I'm a pleasure listener - I don't need WAV files for professional reasons.
When I first got iTunes, yeah, I took the default settings and ripped all my CDs in AAC format (they have .m4a file extensions). I regret this, in one way, because they won't work in other Windows applications & other portable devices. But, they sound great on my iPod and don't take up so much drive space as other formats.
edit: I've no idea what you're talking about with the GraceNotes vinyl lookup. AFAIK, you're going to have to re-rip the CDs in a non-WAV format to get the ID3 tags. But you can google to find more info on that.

  • Local video files on native player - any examples or official response?

Sorry to bring this up again as there are several posts in this forum asking the same questions but I figured now that Packager for iPhone is once again being actively supported it would be a good time to try and get some clarification.
Playing local video files on the iPhone/Pad's native video player is a well documented feature of the packager but one that I have yet to get working or even see an example of. There are quite a few posts here and elsewhere with people asking how to get this feature working, especially with reference to the navigateToURL() function as described in the developer guide.
Has anyone ever managed to get this feature working and are there any examples of code using navigateToURL() which have been successful for anyone? If not could one of the Adobe reps on this board give a response just to clarify if H.264 video playback is working as intended and documented.
Many thanks for any incoming responses, I have been very happy to hear the news from Apple/Adobe over the last few days and getting this feature working would top off a few days of good news!

I've tried that with no luck.  Here's a screenshot of the app.  You can see the many ways I've tried to play video files and it just doesn't work the way you suggested, or the way the documentation suggests.  What am I doing wrong?  Or does it just not work since no one can seem to get it to work?
And yes, I did include the video:

  • AirPlay buffering from local video file [NOT WORKING]

We have been trying to play videos on our Apple TV, (Actually 2 of them, neither worked). WE have a local video file on our mac (iTunes Version 11.3.1) and we have been trying to play the video n out Apple TV using AirPlay. We can select the Apple TV from the AirPlay list but when we go to watch it all it does is buffer. It buffers for ever. This happened on both our Apple TV's (one is a ten. 2 and the other a gen. 3). We have also tried using our other mac which also runs iTunes 11.3.1. Our network works fine, (Apple Time Capsule) we have backups going to it and everything. This issue only started about 3 days ago; before that everything worked perfectly for more then two years. (Across two different routers). Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    Hi,
Just linking to the file won't work. You'll have to call
navigateToURL with that file's path. This will load the file in the
    default browser.
There's no other way to launch applications from AIR
    1.0.

  • Toshiba 40SL733g - How to play video files from USB flash memory

When I plug my USB flash memory in USB port, Media Player menu shows up with two options : Photos and Settings.
How do I make my TV recognize and play video files from USB flash memory?
    Flash is on FAT32.
I have tried to play avi, mp4 and mkv files but nothing happens. It looks like flash is empty.
Could you please help me solve this problem.
    Thanks!

bzunic, have you updated the firmware for your model?.
With my own set, (32RL900A), the instruction manual said that certain buttons on the remote control were "unused", however, after the first firmware update, the previously "unused" buttons were used, (In our case, Time Shift, Record, and so on).
The reason I talk about this is, these features became available after a firmware upgrade, and were not mentioned in the user manual, in our case, and a later download of the instruction manual for our model actually gave the instructions for the use of these features, which were shown as "not available", in the original instruction manual supplied with the TV, but became available after the firmware upgrade.
Let us know how it all works out ............

  • How to play a video file stored locally in the system

    hi
how to play a video file stored locally
    thanks

    Hi,
You can't do that in a simple way. You need to have a port open in the firewall, and you need to have a server process on the remote machine.

  • Can QT Player play streaming .asx files from the Web?

    All:
I'm trying to play some of the flash video files from this site:
    http://www.adultswim.com/williams/bump_music/index.html
I'm certain the links work because those movies play fine on a PC. Yet on my Macs (a Mac Pro and a Macbook), when I click on any of them, I get a blank screen.
I have the latest Flip4Mac WMV components installed and I pretty much have everything enabled in the Quicktime MIME settings as well, but I have no luck playing these files.
Is there something else I'm missing here?
Can QT player handle streaming .asx files or do I need a different codec for that? If I do need a specific codec, where would I get it?
Or do I have get Flip4Mac WMV Pro or QT Pro to get this to work?
According to the website, the WM components I installed should be able to play .asx files (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx). FWIW, plain .wmv files play just fine locally or via streaming.
Can any of you try it and see if it works for you?
    Thanks,
    Ken

Doesn't work here either, even with the latest Flip4Mac beta. There are some WMV formats that just won't work on a Mac, and this may be one of them. But you can try contacting Flip4Mac's tech support and asking if they have any information on the issue.

  • Lost video file from a flash drive using iMac

I played a video file that was saved on a flash drive on my iMac. After the video played, it was automatically deleted from the flash drive. I did not physically delete the file. When I closed the file, it simply vanished. Is there anyway to recover the file?

Thanks for your response. I didn't notice the file in the trash after this occurred. If it was there, it is long gone by now anyway since I've emptied the trash several times since the incident (unless someone has an answer for recovering files that have been deleted from trash?). If it happens again, I'll pay closer attention to what is in the trash and see if this works. Thanks again.

  • How do i move a video file from the theater to the library for more editing? New version of iMovie.

How do I move a video file from theater to the library for additional editing in iMovie. It is a new iMac so i guess i have the newest version of iMovie.

    Hi hilldw61,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you have added a clip or project to iMovie Theater but would like to continue working on it. When you upload the project to iMovie Theater, the original project remains in iMovie where you can edit it further.

  • Playing the audio file from the point of mark

Hi All, i want to play a audio file from the point of mark.
i have used mark() method to mark but when i play the audio it is still playing the audio from the starting point. please help me.

    Hi,
    Question:
    1. You have a folder for each DVD whose video contents you edited.
    Answer: Yes
    Question:
You talk about projects 34, 35, 36, 37. Are these projects associated with only one specific DVD?
What is supposed to be in each project - just edited VTS_01_1.VOB or edits from the others in the series
    such as VTS_01_2.VOB, VTS_01_3.VOB, etc.
    Answer:
Project 34 has edited Premiere Elements file 34 and the VOB files (VST_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, etc) from DVD#34
Project 35 has edited Premiere Elements file 35 and the VOB files (VST_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, etc) from DVD#35
Project 36 has edited Premiere Elements file 36 and the VOB files (VST_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, etc) from DVD#36
    etc.
    Question:
    2. If you screen each DVD video file VOB for a given DVD disc, does the content follow sequentially and cleanly?
    Answer:
    Yes
When I run the VST_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, etc from each project the audio and the video are clean and match.
When I run the edited Premiere Elements file that were created after project 34 edited Premiere Elements file project 35, 36, 37 etc. I am getting the audio from project 34
When I run the edited Premiere Elements file that were created  before project 34 edited Premiere Elements file project 1, 2, all the way to 33. I am getting the correct audio
    Thanks,
    Ron

  • Playing an mp4 file from my iPad on to a TV screen.

I am playing an mp4 file from my ipad 2 on to a TV screen. I would like to see the video on both the TV screen and my ipad. Currently the video can only be seen on the TV screen.
I am using an HDMI cable with an adapter to connect the ipad to the TV screen.
    Thanks
    Dave

OK, I can get the video to play, but I have no ability to scroll thru the movie.

  • Quicktime will not play any video files

When trying to play any compatible video files .mov, .mp4 etc... all I get is a small black box in the upper left corner of the screen. The computer is not frozen I can close the window with the red x. I can open Quicktime and the web stuff opens but opening a video file on the computer causes this. I confirmed the latest version of Quicktime in installed and I have confirmed the video files I'm trying to play work on another computer and the .mp4 file plays in media player on this computer. The video card driver is up to date. I want to play my .mov files from my iphone but can't.

all I get is a small black box in the upper left corner of the screen.
Curious ... I wonder if this is a blown-out display preference?
Could you check something for me please? Create a new user account on the PC with full sdminidtrative rights. Log out of your usual account and log into the new account. Try playing a file in the new account. Does it display properly?
If it works okay in the new account, let's try to get things working in the normal account again with the instructions from the following thread:

  • How do I export video files from iPhoto to a backup external hard drive for safekeeping?

How do I export video files from iPhoto to a backup external hard drive for safekeeping?  Each time I try, the video will not play from the external hard drive.

Use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with Kind = Original.  That should get the original video file exported.  Try to export one to the Desktop first and open it with Quicktime Player.  If all goes well export the rest to a folder on the EHD. How is the EHD formatted?  It should be OS X Extended (journaled).
