Playlists wont sort by latest date added like in itunes on iphone on ios5

After updating to ios5 on my iphone 4, my playlists that i made are the same as in my itunes (currently displayed on itunes as the latest date added to the oldest i.e. newest to oldest). My iphone syncs it as the oppoiste, even though in itunes is newest to oldest. any ideas?

Exactly same problem. I have a playlist sorted by "date added". Just updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and it got a mess. Apparently, the first songs are showing on the bottom of the list - and even if I change it on iTunes to "invert" the playlist, it shows the same way on the iPhone.
It wouldn't be a big deal if the playlist didn't have more than 2000 songs (it's really frustrating to scroll all way to the bottom to find the first song). Hope Apple fix it soon.

The unix commands you need are:
    GetFileInfo
    SetFileInfo
    and maybe find
for cryptic details use the man command
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
    man SetFileInfo
You may use the SetFileInfo command to set the file type & the program which will open the file.

  • Sort photos by date added

In iTunes one can sort the music in a myriad of ways(41 by my count), by virtually every descriptor that can be attached to a music file, once one clicks on the right column heading.
Why not the same in iPhoto (I will put this to iPhoto feed back one more time, as I am sure have many others)?  How may years now have people been asking for a "date added" to your database or "size of file" sorting options?  Still not here that I know of?   Here is about it for iPhoto in Lion OS:
Does anyone have a solution where I can sort through my images by size and/or date added (not date the image was taken)? Thanks.
Still it is a better program than in the past.  If it can't find duplicates like iTunes, at least it doesn't import them anymore.  There are many other good features, too.  I just hoped iPhoto could reach the search/organizing capabilities of iTunes. Thanks again for any help.

    Thanks Terence,
I took your advice and plopped down the 80 bucks for Aperture 3.2.3.  And, I appreciate your encouragement.
It unfortunately has been a disaster as I have spent hours trying to get it to work. It is as some others have said "mud slow" on my  i7 MBP.  I've tried many suggestions found on line to get it to work.  The list is long, but none have yet worked.  Even doubling my RAM to 8GB has not done it.  And, I am only using it on a database of about 2k images.  I wanted to test it out before turning my whole database over to it.
Another point; while Aperture does have the features I needed for searches, I have used iPhoto to share, via my web site, original versions of my images with my students using iPhoto's "web export" macros. Unfortunately, Aperture's web export macros do not allow images over 1200 pixels in dimension.  So, I've had to export from Aperture (takes forever) back to iPhoto to get the processed images published to the web at the appropriate size.
It's my bad, I should have seen all the people on this discussion group and others across the web who are having similar troubles with their Aperture slowing down.  Most seem to blame Lion upgrades.  This note is just to warn others that there is risk in buying software without testing a trial version first; Aperture being one of them.
In my 25 years as a Mac user, this is the most troublesome product I have ever purchased.  Maybe that is not too bad of a record.  I just hope there is a fix on the way for many of us who cannot get it to work.

  • FEATURE REQUEST: Allow Smart Playlists to sort by Release Date

I listen to my iPod in my car and have a one of those kits where you can control your iPod through your stock stereo (i.e. select playlists by pressing buttons 1-6, and changing tracks with the next track/ last track buttons). One of my playlists is a smart playlist that looks for all downloaded audio podcasts that have not yet been played. As of right now, I have to go into the playlist after every update and reorder the podcasts manually in order from earliest release to newest release. The only date-sorting column right now is "date added". This doesn't work because if I update and download two or three episodes from one podcast, they all have the same date in that field, even if they were released on different days.
Please iTunes, allow a column heading that sorts podcasts by Release Date. This would make my life a lot easier and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I know when I'm looking at all my podcasts from the Podcast-Manager portion of iTunes that I can see the Release Date column, however it is not an available column outside of that view.
Anybody else wanna see this feature?

I was looking for the exact funtion too. Please don't make our life any harder

  • Date added missing for itunes 12.

In previous version of iTunes there was a column header option for audiobooks called date added. (when book was added to iTunes). I use the header to sort in reverse order so I get most recently added books at top of list.  This option seems to be missing in 12.0.1

It is still there. If you hold the cursor over any column header then control-click a long drop down list appears so you can select your column headers
EDIT: I am sorry, I misread "audiobooks". This reply is only valid for the Music category, I can't verify it for the audiobooks category

  • Weird and Incorrect Date Added Info in iTunes

iTunes is showing me bizarre dates in the "Date Added" column.  Examples are "6/29/14180", "1/5/145", and "12/29/12364".  I should note that I'm running the latest version of iTunes and the latest version of Mavericks, but the iTunes library that I'm using is the library on my Snow Leopard drive (because I don't know a simple way of importing all of that music--25,000+ songs--into the Maverick side).  Anybody else experience this and/or know why this is?

  • How do I transfer "date added" from one iTunes library to another?

I recently transfered my iTunes library from one Mac to another w/ no problem, however all of the dates in the date added column show the date of the library transfer and not the original date the music was imported into iTunes. Is there any way to retrieve or preserve the original dates? I know, not a "real' problem, but a concern for me nonetheless.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I just got off the phone with support. You will need to provide your nano or iPod serial number to get any help with a windows system ( which I have ). I indicated that I followed the entire path to get a good 8.1 install. That included a windows "remove" of the current stable install ( a mistake ). I will have to drive 1 hour to an apple store and show up with a blank CD to get a good copy of the 8.1 "exe" install file .

  • Can I sort iTouch apps by Genre like in iTunes?

In iTunes I have the option to sort my apps by Genre. I know I can (with the new OS upgrade)create folders, but I'm wondering if I can spare myself the work and just sort the apps by these Genres on my touch? I started making folders and found limits with how many apps they would hold. This seems like a much easier way - does anyone know if it's possible?
    Thanks.

You can customize the layout of icons on the Home screen—including the Dock
icons along the bottom of the screen. If you want, arrange them over multiple Home
screens. You can also organize applications by collecting them in folders.
You can rearrange icons on the Home screen, and the order of the screens, when iPod
touch is connected to your computer. Select iPod touch in the iTunes sidebar, then
    click the Applications tab.
You can also organize with folders. You can put up to 12 icons into a folder. iPod touch automatically names a folder when you create it, based on the initial icon you use to create the folder, but you can change the name anytime you want. Like individual icons, folders can be rearranged by dragging them around the Home screen. Folders can be moved to a new Home screen or to the Dock.

  • When I sort by date added in Column View in Finder, how can I make the most recent files appear at the top of the list?(Mavericks)

In 10.8, when I sorted Finder by date added or date created in column view, the most recent files would appear at the top of the list. Currently, this happens as it should in every single view mode EXCEPT column view (which is pretty much the only view I ever use). Currently, I have a folder with over 2000 files in it that date back to 2011, so now I have to scroll for like ten minutes just te get to files that were most recently added. Who in their right mind would want to sort by last modified with the oldest result listed FIRST? Ridiculous. I can't figure this out. Any help?

Thanks for the reply leroydouglas! Unfurtunately this doesn't cause the column to be ordered correctly either. After selecting this option, the files seem to be ordered by label, and the most recently added file is somewhere in the middle of the list. I'd like it to be at the top, and have other files/folders descend in retrochronological order by their add date.
Any other input from the community would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just confirming that this is/is not expected behavior. I'd be super bummed to find out that this IS expected behavior, as it's really counterintuitive and extremely inconvenient.
    Thanks again!

  • Song order on ipod problem ( only sorted as date added)

Basically what the title states. I just got a new Ipod (30G) and I just finished putting 1000+ songs on it, it was hard work but i finally got it. Yet I found out that my ipod is doing to the same things my other one was doing, Instead of sorting the songs in Alphabetical order by Artist in my playlist, it will only sort it by date added instead.
I put my songs manually instead of syncing and Im not about to reorganize all my songs on Itunes for this problem.
Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thanks.

I'm not letting this question die out here.

  • Albums view by date added

Hi, I really like the new Albums view. I would like it to show me my newest albums first (not by year but by date added). I can do that in the Songs view, which is just super boring, and I can create a playlist containing my newest music, but then I am stuck with this huge sidebar, that I don't know how to get rid off  (and a big useless title bar that just shows me the name of the playlist). I think the Playlists view really *****... Is there another way? Thank you

I know what you want to do, and unfortunately you cannot do it. The only way you can sort by date added is in the songs tab. The downside is that there is no album art which spoils the point. It would be nice to sort the albums tab by date added so you can find the newest music in an instant rather than search through your library.
A simple solution -- The Zune software has the feature and the interface is cleaner (see attached picture). I use Zune to listen to music and iTunes to sync. If iTunes would be able to sort albums by date added that would eliminate my need for Zune.
Hear that Apple??? Simple solution that every use can benefit from.

  • 12.1.0.71 date added field corrupt

Using smart playlists, I select songs based on the date added like: "date added is in the last 90 days".
When I updated iTunes to 12.1.0,71 on Feb 1, a lot of my songs changed the date added to "2/1/2015" but these are old songs added years ago.
How can I get the original dated added field restored so my smart playlist will work correctly?

Hmm, that's not an error I've seen before. Was some of your media missing post install and did you reimport it?
See Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash. Sadly your most recent previous library may be from the initial 12.0 upgrade last October.
Unfortunately there is no way to adjust the Date Added values or I could offer a way to export the data from an older library and reimport it into your current one.
