Playstation 3 no longer connects to Linksys E2500

I used to have my PS3 connected to my wi-fi, but some months ago I was not able to connect it wirelessly.  I was meaning to run an ethernet cable from my living room (where my router is) to my bedroom (where my PS3 is) so I ignored the wif-fi issue.  All my other devices like my laptop, printer, phones, etc. all connect perfectly fine even in further distances.
Now I have this problem again because my brother is visiting and is staying in my guest room.  He brought over his PS3 and is experiencing the same issue.  Is there anoyone else with this issue, or a solution? Please and thank you.

Since all other wireless devices are working fine, could have something to do with the PS3s. Try doing a wired connection first. Connect the PS3 directly to the modem. Next is to check the wired connection to the router. If the wired connection won’t work, probably you will need to reset the network settings of the PS3. From the Home menu, go to Settings > System Settings > Restore Default Settings. After resetting it to defaults, go thru setting up the connection again. If all else fail, another thing you can do to isolate the issue is to try connecting the PS3 to another wireless network. If it will connect to a different network then there could be something with the router. You can then reset and reconfigure the router.

  • Windows Firewall temp disabled when connecting to Linksys E2500

About 3 months ago, I installed Linksys E2500 wireless router for my laptop Windows XP Pro. I have router firewall and Windows Firewall on.
I notice that sometimes when I startup laptop, balloon pop up sand Windows Security Center saying Windows Firewall is off. After less than 2 seconds, it turns back on, disappearing the ballon.
Also, if I right-click and press "repair" on the bottom right screen for my Wireless network connection, WHILE it is searching/connecting to network, then the balloon pop up will happen again.
    No events shown in logs.
Avast Boot Scan, Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware, Spybot, clean.
What happening, I worried because this is my profession/work computer?

Do you experience this problem on your other computers wired and wirelessly connected to your router? This might be a Windows XP OS issue and not with the E2500. Please try to make sure that the Firewall software that you installed are “turn on” from Action Center. And please try to make sure that your Anti-Virus software’s were updated and working properly on your computer.

  • Help setting up linksys E2500 with OSX 10.9.5 - no connection

I just received a new linksys E2500 router to set up with my RCN service.
My MacBook Pro is running OSX 10.9.5 and I know I cant use the linksys connect software to set it up but I am having no luck setting it up manually.  Neither my laptop or my phone (iPhone 5S) can see the router when it is plugged in. Trying to connect via 192.168.1.1 doesn't work - says there is no internet connection if wired to router, if hardwired to modem it just spins.  (I have tried via Safari, Firefox and Chrome)  When I hardwire modem-> computer my internet is fine. but when I connect router to modem and then hardwire from router to computer via ethernet ports, my laptop says nothing is connected via ethernet.
I have a technician from RCN coming later this week, but I really want to get this working sooner.  Any help would be appreciated!

Where did it say that?  Network Diagnostics?
First contact your ISP.  You need to confirm that the issue is not on their end.
Change your router channel.  Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router.  Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
    System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
    Unlock the padlock
    Locations:  Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock.  Highlight Airport.  Network Name-select your name.  Click on the Advanced button.  Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."  Click the OK button and lock the padlock.  Restart your computer.

Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

  • Disable Internet Connection on LAN computers on Linksys E2500

    Hi,
I am new here, and going to setting up my router in my small office.
I have a Linksys E2500, and going to disable internet connection on computers that connected via LAN cable.
So, this is how I am going to set my office.
                                                                          Internet
                                                                                 |
                                                                          modem
                                                                                 |
                                                                   Linksys E2500
                                                                    (192.168.1.1)
                              |                                                                                                   |
                       Hub A                                                                                            Hub B
         PC 1                     PC 2                                                                PC 3                        PC 4
Hub A and Hub B are in different floor.
Do these Hub A and Hub B still give the same range of IP Address from linksys (192.168.1.x) to the PCs below them, like PC 1 got 192.168.1.2, PC 2 got 192.168.1.3 and go on? Can I reserve an static IP Address to each PCs, and disable internet only on PCs below Hub B (PC 3 and PC 4)? I cannot find any controls for disabling internet connection on LAN interface from the E2500 Setup Interface. There are only Wireless MAC Filtering and no LAN MAC Filtering.
If this thing sounds stupid, I am sorry but I have no experience in setting network here. I hope someone can help me out.
    Thanks a lot.

I agree with FurryNutz. You will need an IP-enabled device for the router block it via Parental Controls. If you have wireless bridge or a manageable switch, you can block that and all the devices connected to it should also be blocked from internet access.
I think you can set Static DNS on the computers under Hub B to 0.0.0.0 which will not allow them to access the internet but are still within the router's local network.

  • Connecting together a Siemens router/modem and linksys E2500

    Hi:
Unfortunately, I'm not good with this stuff but I think I can learn ...
I have a Siemens Gigaset SE567, which was set-up by my IP. I'm using its Modem via the #1 Ethernet port to my desktop. It broadcasts wifi but I got tired of paying $10 p/m for the wifi - so I canceled it. The wifi is still active but the IP password protected it.
I was given a used Linksys E2500. I have its password. I just don't know how to hook it up so I can still use the SE567 modem to my desktop but also use the E2500 wifi for my other wireless devices.
The SE567 has 1 attached client and 1 DHCP which is my desktop. My IP address is 192.168.254.1 and it's attached by Ethernet.
I didn't get any set-up CD with the Linksys. I don't know if I need set-up software or not.
Can someone give me a link or give me the steps to connect the 2 devices so they will both perform the way I described. Again, I'm not very computer literate so if you could use simple words it would help.
    Thanks so much.

  • Unable to configure Linksys E2500 to use PPPoE connection

I am using the Ubuntu Linux 12.04 operating system and have been able to use the Linksys E2500 router with Automatic Configuration – DHCP setting and my modem in PPPoE mode to use my DSL connection. But I would like to be able to use my router with the PPPoE connection setting so I can use a firmware like Tomato which has more advanced features like bandwidth logging.
I was able to log into the configuration page of my SpeedTouch ST516 modem and set it to bridge mode according to the instructions here: http://www.speedtouch.ca/bridgemode.php
I then tried to set up the router to use PPPoE according to the instructions here: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=3687
I get the message "Can not get an IP address from PPPoE" again when I try to set up the connection in step 4. Resetting the router does not help. I also tried running 'sudo service networking restart' and the 'sudo dhclient -r; sudo dhclient' in Ubuntu's terminal but still got the same message.
I double checked that I used right login information and vpi from my ISP. I used the same info to configure the modem to PPPoE mode again so I can connect to the internet. I had to reset the modem back to factory defaults using the reset button at the back to access the modem configuration page after I disconnected the ethernet cable from the router and plugged it into the modem.
Is there a possible bug with using PPPoE with this router? Is there anything else I can try besides what is stated in the instructions linked to above?

    jaymay
"If you are getting an error "Can't get an IP from PPPoE Server", that would mean that it's possible that the account information you've typed in is incorrect or the modem is not set properly to bridged mode. You can test this by connecting your computer directly to the modem and create a PPPoE dialer. If it will let you connect successfully then you are using the correct username and password. If not then you might have to verify the correct info from your ISP."
    > Again, "I double checked that I used right login information and vpi from my ISP. I used the same info to configure the modem to PPPoE mode again so I can connect to the internet." And yes I was also able to connect with a PPPoE dialer and computer directly connected to the modem.
"It could be possible that what you just need to do in the router is to change it's LAN IP address to a different range compared to what you are getting from the modem to avoid IP conflict. For more information about setting up the router with DSL connection, you may refer to this link: Setting up a Linksys router for DSL Internet connection."
    > That link is exactly the same link in my sentence: "I then tried to set up the router to use PPPoE according to the instructions here: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?pid=80&vw=1&articleid=3687"
The router ip address used is set to http://192.68.2.1 which differs from the ip addresses of the modems I tried.

  • Linksys E2500. No WAN light or connection

Just bought the linksys E2500 as an upgrade for a my Trendnet 150 wireless N router. I have a motorolla surfboard modem with time warner roadrunner cable internet. After connecting the router I have no internet connection. I do not get a light on the WAN connection after the ethernet cable is attached. I know the light works because when I power it on all the lights come on. I cloned the MAC address but this did not work. I have searched the forums for hours and tried different ideas to no avail. My PC recognized the router and I'm able to get to all the settings but cannot establish a connection from the router to the modem. I also tried different ethernet cables to eliminate that possiblilty. Any ideas?
I'm about to just return it.

You can perform a loop back test. Connect one Ethernet connection to one of the Ethernet port of the router and connect the other end to the WAN port of the router. Connect another Ethernet to another Ethernet port on the router and connect the other end to your computer. Access the setup page of the router and go to the “Status” tab. Check the IP address. If it is getting a 127.0.0.1 address (loop back address), it means the internet port is working but the light is not. If it is getting 0.0.0.0 then that means the internet port is not detecting any connections and it is defective.

Try putting $ (a dollar sign) in front of the password.

  • Linksys E2500 and Mavericks wireless connection

Installed Mavericks and lost wireless connection with my linksys e2500.
Cisco connect says "unsupported operating system"  and "visit http://homesupport.cisco.com/linksys/support"
Cisco website does not address Mavericks OS

I'm having the same issue with my Cisco Linksys router.
I am unable to connect to the wifi network, or use the Cisco Connect application. As the application is the only way of adding and removing devices from the network, changing the password, and likely fixing this issue, I'm quite frustrated.
I phoned Cisco about this issue yesterday and they had no helpful information. They advised me to download the newest Connect software from their website, and stated this should fix the issue. I told them that I'd already attempted this solution, but their software has only been updated to include a compatibility fix with 10.8, and the issue is with 10.9. They then advised that I restart my computer. AKA, they would be no further help.
The Connect software is available for download here, so I hope that they release an update soon with a fix to this problem. The release notes under the latest update include a mention of the 10.8 compatibility fix, so I hope a 10.9 fix will be forthcoming.
The only solution in the meantime seems to be a complete restart and install of the router and software using a PC. And even this only works to correct the Cisco Connect issue, and likely not the main issue of actually using the wifi network with Mavericks. Regardless, I believe this is a Cisco/Linksys issue, and not an Apple issue.

  • Can no longer connect to encripted wireless.

    Hello,
I am running a wired and WPA TKIP Encripted wireless network through a WRT350N and Netopia DSL modem. I have a Western Digital Mybook Premium 500GB hard drive connected for storage.
The system had included 2 XP Home PCs one using a Linksys WMP54GS Wireless PCI adapter and the other using a Netgear “G” USB adapter configured through Windows since the Netgear software would only do WEP.  There are also 2 laptops one being an older model with the Linksys “G” PCMCIA and a newer Core2Duo using Intel Proset.
February I built a New PC which I connected via CAT5 which required moving the WRT350N, modem and 500GB MyBook into the computer room. In this room we also have our Dual mode 2.4 Ghz Linksys CIT300 Skype phone and our 2.4Ghz main phone. The new PC also has a Logitech G7 mouse using 2.4Ghz wireless. Everything ran smoothly for just over a month.
Around the same time as the start of the network connection Issues I swapped the Motherboard in the New PC with an SLI version and set the machine back up still using CAT5 and no wireless.
I cannot say for certain that we didn’t have any issues before the time of the swap but it did become very noticeable around the same time and I just want to cover all the bases.
What happened is the wireless PCs slowed down a bit and then the Netgear connected PC started to have disconnect issues that were very noticeable since it was the machine that pulls our e-mail. We then noticed the Linksys G Desktop having connection speed issues and then finally all the wireless machines will no longer connect via encrypted wireless at all. If I reset the Router they connect without a problem. I can change the SSID and turn off the SSID Broadcast without a problem but the moment I turn on WPA Personal, TKIP, and set a password they all lose connection and will refuse to connect. I have sat down at each machine and deleted the wireless profiles and set them up with all the same SSID, Security, and keys but they will not connect.
I even ran Net Stumbler on my Laptop to look for other wireless networks but only find one on Channel 11. Mine shows up too but at Channel 1 using the 40Mhz channel. Network mode is set to Mixed, Radio band is auto, Wide Channel is auto, Standard channel is also Auto.
Is there anything else I may be missing? I have reset the router many times and have tried restoring from saved configurations but nothing works at all. The only thing that works now is the wired connection. L
I sure hope Linksys reads these forums because they sure do not read their tech support e-mails!
I look forward to any help.
    Thanks,
    Martin

First of all, re-download and re-install the latest firmware for your router.  After installing the latest firmware, make sure you reset the router to factory defaults, then set up the router from scratch.
Next, make sure you have a unique SSID (don't use "linksys" ), and turn on SSID broadcast.  Turning on SSID broadcast makes it easier for your computers to find and stay connected to your router.   I used to recommend that SSID broadcast be turned off for security reasons, but this is no longer required because new "cracking" techniques have made this old trick useless.
As a test, turn off all your 2.4 GHz devices and unplug them from the wall.  This would include your phones, wireless mouse, and any Bluetooth, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless keyboards, etc.   Also, turn off any 5+ GHz phones, as some of these also use the 2.4 GHz band.   See if this makes a difference.
Since your Netgear "would only do WEP", I don't understand how you ever got it to work before with WPA encryption.  Please explain.  Are you saying that the Windows software was doing the WPA for you?
Update you computers with the latest drivers for your wireless adapters.
As infinityx mentioned, update Windows XP to at least SP2.
It sounds like you may have the Intel Pro Wireless 2200bg card.  If so, this card is known to have connection problems.  The problems with this card worsened with a recent Windows update, but were fixed with the latest driver.  Go to the Intel web site and download and install the latest drivers.
Also, you can try another channel on your router.  Since you have a neighbor on 11, try any channel 1 thru 6.  (Always try to stay at least +5 or -5 channels from your strongest neighbors.).

  • My iphone 4s and ipad 2 both with 7.0.4 update will no longer connect to wifi but non-mac lap top has no issues

my iphone 4s and ipad2 both with 7.0.4 update will no longer connect to wifi.
About three days ago the ability to connect came and went and the connection never lasted more than 10-15 minutes; it has not been able to connect since last night. I do not think it's my wifi router as non-mac lap top has no issues. I have seem many similar questions posted.

Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 15 seconds. Also, if your router still has its default SSID (such as LINKSYS, DLINK, NETGEAR, etc) change the SSID to something unique. Note that all other devices on your network will have to be reconnected if you change the name, but if the name is still the default that is most likely your problem.
If the SSID is not the default then the reboot should fix it.

  • No longer connects to home wi-fi

During the last 7 to 10 days my razr upgraded to version 4.0.4 (ICS). Sense it did this, I can no longer connect to my Wi-Fi at home.
Specifics: it would say it was connected, but when I opened a browser or went to fb or my email I would be notified that my data is turned off (it was on), or that the browser was having connectivity issues, or that my app had timed out. I have gone through all the different setting configurations on my router, nothing I changed had any effect, other than knocking my daughters phone off the wi-fi, so I changed it all back as it was before. I tried "forgetting" the wi-fi and then re-adding it, did not work.
I took my phone to a verizon store. the first thing they said was "it picks up our wi-fi, soo..." As you can imagine, after a week or so of trying all these different things, I was not in the mood to hear it was not really an issue. I went through everything I have tried with them. I asked them if they knew what frequency their wifi was set at, etc.. They reset my phone to factory settings and sent me on my way. I was hopeful.
I came home. There was a slight difference. Now, instead of saying its connected but not actually being connected, it cycles through " Turning on Wi-Fi" "Obtaining IP address" "saved"  "Turning on Wi-Fi" "Obtaining IP address", etc. occasionally it will say "avoided poor connection". when it is on "saved" if I look at the connection strength, it is "excellent". Before the ICS upgrade, I had no issues with Wi-Fi connection, and the xbox and my daughters connections are fine. Nothing has changed except the ICS update.
I went back to the verizon store, they looked at it for a min and said "it connects to our wi-fi"....  End result is that they are getting me a replacement phone, which has to be shipped to me from Motorola, and should be here in a week. But the phone will also have to upgrade to the ICS version. And it might not work either.
My router is a Cisco Linksys e2000. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I have reset the router, phone has been reset, wifi connection has been forgotten and reentered many many times. I have tried switching my router from 2.5ghz to 5 ghz (daughter lost her connection then) I have gone through "mixed" "G & B Only" "B only" "G Only" "N Only". I have tried switching channel widths, and the channel itself is set to auto.. I do not know what else to try. My phone has an IP address, though it looks odd compared to other IP address's I have seen, and it has a mac address as well.  Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Devices no longer connect to my Hub

We've had our hub for about three years now and have a lot of devices connected to it; an iPhone 5, a iPhone 4, two iPods, a BlackBerry, a Windows phone, a Laptop, a Tablet, a Playstation 3 all through Wireless and a LG Smart TV, BT Vision Box and a Seagate Hard Drive through Ethernet cables. Everything normally works fine.
Last week following an electrical storm several devices could no longer connect to the Hub - the iPhone 5, the Tablet and one of the iPods.
The Laptop is fine and works all over the house as it always does, however, if I use the shortcut on the desktop on the Laptop to get to the Seagate hard drive - I get the message that windows can no longer find it.
My iPhone 5 cannot connect to the Hub - it can see it - but cannot connect to it. I have to drop it a connect to my own Hub through BT Fon and then it works fine!
I've asked my iPhone and the other devices which can no longer connect to the Hub to forget the hub and to get them to search for it again. They can all see it, but can't connect - not getting as far as asking for the wireless key.
I've powered off the Hub and left it for a couple of minutes. I've tried re-setting it and I've been into the Hub Manager to see if it looks like any changes have been made to it. Nothing seems to work.
I haven't changed the channel on the Hub as it doesn't appear to be a signal strength issue (the iPhone 5 shows the Hub on maximum strength everywhere in the house).
    Can anyone help please????

    Hi Guys,
I've done a factory reset on the huband it doesn't seemed to have changed anything. My iPhone 5 still can't connect to it, I can't use the shortcut for the Seagate drive and the Hub no longer apppears as part of our home network when I look it up on my PC.
Below is a screen shot of the Hub Manager. Matt-PC is my laptop which is connected to the Hub via Wi-Fi. There are currently three Ethernet Cables plugged into the back of the Hub - the Seagate Drive, the TV and a BT Vision box.
    Any other ideas?
