Please advise MapViewer hardware configuration

Can anybody advise me the best hardware configuration for MapViewer?
Other questions:
- Did anybody use MapViewer in a VMWare environment? What are the experiences?
- Is it advisable to put MapViewer on the same server as the Oracle database?

More info: i tested the BI server : SICF - > SAP BW>BEx  --> service test,   can load page with no problem.
And as i said, if the EP didn't upgrade to SP12 but only BI ...the ivew work..so i think it is not the problem from BI server?

Try the computer apps PhoneView (Mac) or TouchCopy (Mac & PC):

  • Home Setup Hardware -- Please Advise!

    Hi everyone,
I've been trying to figure out the best way of doing this for weeks, and figure you all are the best people I can ask.
I'm a recent convert to Mac, having been a longtime PC user. Furthermore, I'm a first-time laptop owner.
Now that I'm "wireless", there's a few things I'm looking to do -- in as cost-efficient a manner as possible, though while still retaining future expandability.
    My situation:
My Macbook's hard drive is mostly full [already]; I can't fit all my music on there. However, that's not the biggest issue! What I WANT to do is to be able and play my music through my desktop speakers...from another NETWORK ACCESSIBLE DRIVE, that I can also work off of, wirelessly. My "wireless" situation right now is only using my old wireless-G router, so an upgrade to N-draft is of course a welcomed addition. I currently have a gigabit switch, but if new hardware replaces that, that's fine.
I'll go down the line of products...
Time Capsule would take care of most of my needs, aside from utilizing my desktop speakers for actually playing the music. I'm also reading about a lot of problems with them on the forums so far...along with mediocre N-speeds. I also am concerned about how HOT the drive runs, and of course that's it's not replaceable in the future size-wise...and that if it ever dies, the unit is even useless for wireless, too. If I DID get a Time Capsule, however, can it share my itunes library (copied to it) to multiple computers (mac+pc)?
Base Station Extreme (n): Like a Time Capsule w/out a hard drive, right? Is the wireless-N performance better on this unit? Would a more flexible solution be to get a base station instead of a time capsule, and simply plug a USB 2.0 HDD into it? I DO like this option because, if I really need the speed, I can unplug the USB drive and plug it directly into my laptop -- which I wouldn't be able to do with the Time Capsule. Again, however, this wouldn't allow me to initiate the playing of my music (from the laptop) on the USB drive (plugged into the base station) to my DESKTOP speakers...correct? Can I even share/stream music TO a computer if the USB disk is plugged into the base station, and I try to import the songs into my laptop's library? I've read many NAS solutions boasting "itunes sharing", which I don't completely understand.
    And lastly...but definitely not leastly...
Airport Express. It's cheap. And it's Wireless N. And I'd be able to play the music through my desktop speakers, from my laptop. Pretty much covers my main concerns, doesn't it? However, then I would need to go out and buy a NAS hard drive, and I have no clue which I would get...the only "widely available and semi-affordable" one is the Western Digital MyBook World...however, it gets horrendous reviews as far as speed...and it's noisy...and it runs hot (all bad). that model ALSO does not have a USB port if I wanted to plug it directly into my laptop to work at a faster pace...or on the road where no network is available. There are other NAS hdd's out there, but they're all quite expensive...and I still don't understand the requirements for "sharing" my itunes library from a NAS hdd -- even a Time Capsule or Airport Extreme.
OK, so I'm sorry this was so wordy...I'm just trying to cover all my bases and get all the information across.
So what seems the best solution for my needs? One of the Apple products? A combination of Apple products? A combo of Apple and other products? In summation, here's what I want to do: play music from laptop to desktop speakers from another drive, and have the/a network hard drive to access/work over (in well-utilized wireless-N speed, and gigagbit). Being able to plug directly into laptop would be added bonus.
As the subject mentions: "Please advise!"
PS - trying to stay as cost-effective as possible, without skimping on being "wise".

    Hi again,
So I've read a good majority of the Time Capsule articles you recommended, and there's a few major issues that I'm seeing, that maybe you (or anyone else reading!!) can continue to advise me on:
My biggest concern at this point, is that even if I set up a 'shared' itunes library on either the Extreme or TC, it doesn't sound like I can SYNC the library to my iphone...this is kind of one of the big things I'm looking to do. Is this a no-work-around situation? To sync, does the library downright have to be on the computer? Right now my entire Itunes library is on my old PC, and since it doesn't have a monitor anymore, I can't get onto it to sync -- but beyond this, I wanted everything synced with my Mac (addresses, calendars, etc...and music) -- which unfortunately just doesn't have the space for the music (along with the plethora of apps!). I also want to be in a situation where I can sit on my sofa, use the laptop, select a song in Itunes (on a NAS), and have it play on my stereo speakers. The only way I see this happening is: purchasing a TC, Extreme Station, or NAS like a "Mybook", and pipe it through an Airport Express. Kind of a long, expensive workaround, but does this sound like the solution? Of course, this still doesn't address my problem of syncing to my iphone...I'm sure I'm not the only one out there with this problem (virtually any MB user is going to run into this issue, I would think)...please chime in if you feel you have a good solution.
Thank you for the continued help, everyone!
    John
PS - If CHOOSING between a 500gb TC and a 1TB, I've read the 500GB drive is actually more of a "server-grade" disk...is this true?
And as of this point in time, you can still do a Time Machine backup via Airport Extreme to an attached USB hdd, yes?
Seconldy, it is a little discouraging that neither the TC, Airport Extreme, or USB atached drive (to either) EVER spin down. Honestly, a hiccup in the drives spinning up doesn't at all bother me...I'd rather have my drives "live" longer! I do, however, love that the TC runs [according to the review] virtually silent -- and only lukewarm (akin to AppleTV, which I assume isn't too hot) -- and only uses 30w of power (quite important to me...I hate wasting unneeded electricity!).

Please tell me how you got the computer to reboot again once it was on the black screen saying "setup is inspecting your hardware configuration?"

    Hi,
use the power-switch on the left backside of your iMac to turn your Mac off.
Use it again to restart your Mac and hold down the Alt/Option-button to get to the Boot Selection screen.
    Choose OSX.
Once in OSX go to System Preferences - Startup Volume and reset it to use OSX as the default.
Am I right assuming that you try to install Windows XP on a new (2011) iMac ?
If so, XP is no longer supported by Apple for use/install With BootCamp.
But there are some success stories when using a XP with SP3.

HI. I purchased an IPad model A 1460 which was supposed to have an 1.4 ghz A6x chip. The hardware configuration however shows that my IPad has an A5x chip. How can this issue be resolved ?

How are you getting this "hardware configuration" information?
If you are using a third-party app, most likely the app is not up to date and does not know about the newer iPad processor to show information about it.

Please advise how to resolve error message - cannot be synced because it cannot be read from or written to.

    Hello Janet,
I would recommend this article named 'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1207
    Outdated operating system software
Make sure you have the latest updates for your operating system, which may include improvements for device connections. For example, many USB and FireWire improvements have been included in Windows Service Packs.Check for Mac OS X downloads. Check for Windows updates.
    Computer needs updates
Make sure you have the latest updates available for your specific computer model (or components for home-built PCs). These are usually available for download on the support website for the maker of the PC (or component). Many USB updates are listed as "Intel chipset" or just "chipset" updates on PC manufacturer's support and download websites.
    Software interference
Some software can interfere with iTunes, making it unable to write files to your iPod. Think about what software you have installed, and try disabling any add-ons that might be interfering with iTunes. Check your suspected software's documentation or contact the software maker if you need assistance with disabling the application. Out-of-date or incorrectly configured security software frequently causes this issue. See these steps for identifying and troubleshooting third-party security software.
    Damaged files
If one of your music files or photos is damaged, iTunes may display one of these errors when transferring that file to the iPod. If you identify a file that is causing the error, try deleting that file and reimporting it from a backup file or from the original source. You may be able to repair files by repairing the disk (see the solutions in the next section).
    Unregistered .dll files (Windows)
Malware or other software may cause an issue with the digital signing of Windows XP drivers. First try restoringthe iPod using the latest version of iTunes.. If you are unable to restore it or the symptom reappears, follow the steps in this document.
    Damaged disk structure
These errors can also appear if the format of your computer's hard drive or your iPod disk is damaged.
To repair your computer's hard disk—Mac OS X users, read this article for instructions. Windows users, search the Help system in Windows for chkdsk to get more information on checking and repairing the disk structure.
To repair an iPod disk—Restore the iPod or iPod shuffle using the latest version of iTunes.
Warning: Be sure to back up your data before restoring an iPod. The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted.
    Corrupt iPod photo Cache
If you're getting the error when transferring photos to an iPod photo, try deleting the iPod photo Cache and then starting the photo sync again.
    Lost connection
Make sure that the connections from your computer to the iPod are snug and do not wiggle or come loose during transfers. For example, if you use the wrong size dock for your iPod, it can put strain on the connectors and cause a bad connection. See these articles for more information:
    Learn about iPod Universal Dock
    iPod Dock: Specifications
    Conflict with third-party hardware
Third-party USB or FireWire devices may also interfere with iTunes' ability to communicate with your iPod. Remove all USB and FireWire devices except the keyboard and mouse before reconnecting your iPod to the computer.
    Bad hardware
Hardware failure or non-compliant hardware can cause these errors. This could be an issue with iPod hardware or with the cable or dock you're using, but more often it's an issue with the USB or FireWire card or interface in your computer. Some USB and FireWire interfaces just don't work very well. If you isolate the issue to the USB or FireWire interface in your computer, you may want to try a different port, get the computer serviced, or replace the card or interface with a better one.
If you isolate the issue to an Apple-supplied cable or dock, or the iPod itself, you can get it serviced here.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • When I delete emails in gmail, the emails should not get deleted in thunderbird. Please advise. Thank you.

Thank you for taking out time to help. I have thousands of emails in gmail which I keep on deleting. I have configured thunderbird for this email account and it is sunchronized and upto date. If I delete the emails in gmail now, I do not want them to get disappeared from thunderbird. Basically, whatever the emails I delete in gmail and it's trash should not be deleted from thunderbird. Please advise on what steps should be taken. Thanking you once again.

'''If you have a IMAP mail account:'''
You are remotely viewing the folders and emails on the server.
You subscribe to see folders. but this only downloads emailsheaders and downloads the emails upon selection to a temp cache for viewig. They are not stored in your profile.
If you also synchronise then a copy of the server folder is downloaded and stored in the Thunderbird Profile, but synchronised folders keep synchronising so that the server and TB folders are the same.
IT does not matter whether you delete emails via Thunderbird or webmail, you are deleting from the same folders. So, if you delete off server and then discover it has been deleted from Thunderbird, everything is working perfectly.

  • I have Safari 5.1.10 and want to get the newer version.  This may be a dumb question, but do I have to pay to get an upgrade, or is this just a software update.  I am not very technical.  Please advise!

I have a Mac OS X, version 10.6.8, and I am using safari 5.1.10.  I think I need to get a newer version of Safari if this is possible.
How do I go about doing this?  Do I have to purchase a different "safari" product?
I'm obviously not very technical, and don't know how to proceed!  The reason I want to change this is because
I keep getting messages saying that my web brower (isn't that what safari is?) is out of date.  Please advise!

For you it requires an upgrade of OS X. Since you have 10.6.8 installed you can upgrade directly to Yosemite for free provided your hardware meets the requirements:
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
Now there is an issue on Apple's server that seems to keep users with 10.6.8 from downloading Yosemite. Apple is working on the problem, so be patient and keep trying

  • Everytime I try to scan it says "Please wait while windows configures scan".

Hi guys. I am trying to use my HP Photosmart D110 on my windows XP SP3. I am using the same printer on another computer (Windows 7) and it works perfectly. I don't know why everytime I try to scan it tells me "Please wait while winows configures scan". I have done research on this and nothing has helped. Some people it has something to do with scan.msi. People found success with the issue I have with this forum
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/HP-C7250-quot-configures-quot-itself-every-...
Unfortunately, the program "Windows Installer Clean Up Utility" is no longer available and has been replaced with "Microsoft Fix it" and the person who answered the question (rasengan-bankai) said to look for "scan" but in the list it doesn't show anything that specifically that says that. This is what the list contains (that has to do with HP):
    HPAppStudio
    HP Product Assistant
    Solution Center
I don't know what to do and anything that helps fix the problem will be greatly appreciated. Also, I don't know if this has anything to do with the subject but the computer I am using (Windows XP SP3) was not working a while back and had to replace the hard drive and reformatted it.
Thanks a lot for your help.

It sounds like your install has become messed up in some manner.  It is possible that not all portions installed correctly or that registry keys tied to the program have been broken.  I would advise performing a cleanup uninstall process and then reinstall the software on your PC.  I will provide these steps below.
    1. Run disk cleanup on your computer
    2. Download and run the software and drivers below.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-80511-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
    3. Once the download is done extracting, cancel the download.
4.. Press the Windows key + R on the keyboard to bring up the run menu.
    5. Type %temp% in the run field and click OK.
    6. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    7. Open folder Util
    8. Open folder CCC
    9. Run the uninstall_ L4.bat for non-HP computers.  For HP computers run the Uninstall_L3.bat
    10. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    11. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
    12. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
    13. Use this tool to clean the system and registry.  Note: This utility is not HP sponsored or approved.  HP and I are not responsible for damages or loss of data caused by the utility.  This step is optional.   You can skip it if you want.

What is the problem here and how can I solve?
How can I contact Lenovo-Thinkpad to assist?
The problem has reoccured even after I did a system restore to an earlier date.
It seems to initiate when I first boot up and then open up "Pictures"
    Please help.
    Thanks

Well, I take everything back. After removing all password entries and re-installing/rebooting, it worked for a while. But now it is doing it all over again. I tried to call techincal support, but they then said I would have to pay for software support and they only support hardware, and to re-install the OS. Great, jeez, I couldn't have tried that myself, and that is so simple and takes no time at all (detecing sarcasm yet?)
I do a lot of work for large corporations that are watching the IBM=>Lenovo takeover very closely to see if they are going to drop Thinkpads altogether and go with another laptop vendor. This type of weak support does not bode well. The person I was on the phone with was rude, hard to understand, and even told me there was no place to escalate the call to.
There is no replacement for customer support. It is sad to see no Lenovo involvement in this forum, and don't make the mistake of thinking this is an isolated problem at this time. It is growing.
Though Thinkpads are great Laptops, Toshiba used to have the market, but their support or should I say lack of it led to their downfall and position of leadership loss.
It will be no different if Lenovo continues to act like a machine churner.

  • Best Practice E-Business 12.1.3/11gR2 Hardware Configuration

    Hi
We are in the design phase for a new install of E-Business 12.1.3 / 11gR2
From a hardware services point, what is deemed to be the "best practice"?
    Option 1
    1 x Web/Forms Node
    1 x Concurrent Manager Node
    1 x Database ode
    Option 2
    1 x web/forms/concurrent manager node
    1 x database node
    Option 3
    1 x web/forms/concurrent manager/database node
In the past I have always gone with Option 2 so that the database traffic is minimised between conc managers / database. That to me seemed most logical. But wanted to ask the oracle community about their thoughts
We are using redhat linux / Cisco Blades (USC/VMWARE) and all connecting to a NetApp FAS3270.
PLease advise if you pick this up.
    Thanks

Exactly what I was thinking but its nice to get someone elses clarity too.
The PCP option is certainly something I need to take into consideration - but with the new abilities of 12.1.3 cloning processes - it would be easy enough to split the admin Conc Nodes away at a later date should the requirement exist.
    i.e.
    Initially have 1 x forms/web server plus 1 x database / concurrent manager node
If we need to go to PCP and / or forms load balancing
we could easily go to 2 x forms / web server and add the Conc Node into it brining in PCP too.
I have to admist, the way Oracle have sorted the cloning process is 12 is very good indeed.
Do you agree?I totally agree :)
You just need to run preclone on the source apps tier node, then copy the files to the second node (add new node), and run adcfgclone.pl/adaddnode.pl scripts.

  • Hardware Configuration Problem

I've installed Windows XP partitioned on my other macs, but I'm having problems on my Mac Pro. Can anyone help with a solution, please? I have a four hard disc set up on my mac pro. The first disc is the one partitioned with my 10.6 boot on the same disc.
Using Boot Camp with Snow Leopard installed, all goes well after partitioning. It installs Windows Xp from the disc, yet when it restarts, I get a black screen with a message as follows:
"Windows could not start because of a computer disc hardware configuration problem.
Could not read from the selected boot disc. Check boot path and disk hardware.
    Please check windows documentation...."
As I wrote above, as it restarts ready to load xp, it come up with the message above. And of-course, I cannot load the rest of the drivers from the 10.6 install disc.
    Help, please.

I still haven't been able to install but thanks for folks advice.
    Anyone else?
I have a internal four hard drive set up. The mac OS and Windows Bootcamp is set up on Hard Drive 1, whilst the other three are stiped with data, completely separate from the apps and windows.
The windows has to be set up on Hard Drive 1, the same disc as my mac boot drive. Using Boot Camp, it is not possible to set up xp/bootcamp on another hard drive other than an internal one.

Either via Time Machine (which is marvelously transparent, and very easy), or backups created via some other mechanisms and tools.  Old Toad recommends an external disk, and that's very effective.  If this is a portable Mac, then Time Capsule devices are also very handy, as you don't have to remember to connect the backup device; so long as the Mac is within wireless range of the Time Capsule, backups will happen.
Time Machine backups can also be used to replace your files or even to upgrade to a new Mac, should your computer be lost or stolen, or should your computer or your storage fail.

As for your photos...   I wouldn't expect this to be iPhoto and wouldn't go for an iPhoto reinstall as the first step, I'd tend to wonder if this is a bug or feature in Microsoft Word, or possibly a format incompatibility with what Office supports.  iPhoto organizes and edits the photos that are stored in your ~/Pictures media directory.  Try using iWork (if you have that) or some other tool (Apple Mail) that accepts and processes photos, and see if you can localize the problem.  Depending on the image formats used, also see if exporting the picture from iWork into a jpeg-format picture — something other than the image format you're currently using with the Microsoft Office imports — works.  (FWIW, I use iWork for reading and writing Microsoft Office documents as well as Pages and Keynote files, and have been using iPhoto with those and other tools for many years, and haven't encountered these blacked-out images.)
