Please help, im at my wits end!!

Hi All,
Ive had my Ipod Video 30G since Xmas, and ive never had any problems with it. I used to use my boyfriends laptop but ive recently bought a new macbook.
I transferred all of my songs over, and contacted apple so i could download my already purchased videos onto my new mac.
I did this and all of them downloaded fine - however, the videos will not sync to my ipod. Everything else works fine (songs both purchased and imported from my cd collection).
Whenever i try to sync my ipod i get this message: "some of the videos in your itunes library, including XXX were not copied to the ipod XXX beacuse they cannot be played on this ipod".
Now this has NEVER been a problem before, and at first i thought that maybe itunes wasnt recognising my ipod as a video one, which it is. However when i clicked into the individual file problems it said, "XXX was not copid becuase the video format is not supported by XXX ipod"
So, the plot thickens....i guess this is because of the format of the file.
So, i spend 50 mins on the phone with apple support, they say there is nothing wrong with either my mac nor ipod, it is an itunes issue.
So i email itunes, SEVERAL TIMES, for them to tell me to do the following:
1: the 5 R's, restart, restore blah blah
2: Deauthorise and Re-authorise my itunes store with my mac
3: Reinstall Itunes
All of which i have done. The problem remains...
So i scower the internet for the solution, someone tells me to choose the "convert selection to ipod" option. This doesnt work an brings up an error -50 message.
Someone tells me to trash the apple.itunes.com option in itunes documents, this doesnt work either!
So, now i dont know what else to do, apple have emailled me and told me that they havnt a clue, but will "get back to me" GREAT EH?
Now, since the newer version of itunes was installed today, now i can play the videos on itunes or through quicktime, but I STILL CANT PUT THE VIDEOS ON MY IPOD.
Please someone help, im at my wits end and im about ready to throw all my apple items in the bin.

is this a witch hunt? I just need some help and didnt know whether to put this post in the ipod or the itunes section, and when i tried to send them my computer froze and ended up adding the post a few times. If i could delete them i would all but one.
Youd think i had broken a law with all the comments im getting!
All I need is help.

    Right... So I'm facing a few problem with my N9... 
    First, I can't sign in to the Ovi store... Everytime I try it says 'Unkown Error. Check time and date settings' ... I've tried hard reset, cleared the device too, updated to PR1.1... But the problem doesnt seem to go away.. 
    Also, whenever I use my Facebook app, all activity time is noted as 'A moment ago' instead of the actual time.. I have a feeling the two problems might be linked...

  • Desperately Need Help. At my Wits End

    Ok Here is the issue. I live in a house with my GF and 3 roommates. I have an elaborate home network setup with 4 wireless laptops and 4 Desktops hardwired in. I am having an issue where it is dropping my connection to everything every hour if I am not playing a game and every 20 minutes If I am playing a game. Here is how it is set up

    Now Here is the issue. My laptop is connected wirelessly to my base router from the cable modem. The router is directly below me in the basement and I am on the second floor of the condo. My Desktop is connected by a network wire run through the house to the second floor from the same router. At any point while play in a game the connection will either lag or stop; DoD:s will freeze like I am having a connection error, vent will either dissconnect or lagg to hell and Everything has even disconnected for about 3 seconds so i lose connection to everything. If i am not play a game it will lose connection every hour or so along with my laptop. Xfire, vent will disconnect for about 3 second and reconnect. The router is brand new and it has been happening with the old router too. NOw this has become a major issue because I can't play DoD well because **bleep** keeps disconnecting and I can't paly anything. I can't talk on vent or even download cause **bleep** keeps disconnecting.
    Steps to trouble shoot so far:
    Comcast has come out to check the modem wires and connection to house. All Normal
    New Router Implemented
    New wire from modem to router installed
    Updated router firmware
    Changed MTU
    Changed Network Wires Everywhere
    I am totally out of Ideas. I have an 8MB download and a 768 UP. I have done a check with Comcast and They show me using about nothing of that speed at anytime to prove I am not going over speed.
    Does anyone have an Idea or can help me figure this out because that would be most help full. Thanks
    Can anyone help me please I am at my wits end. Connection drops for everything, Ventrilo, Xfire, All Instant Messengers, Lags all my games, and makes it hard to hear my online team. Can anyone help me I am at my wits end with this problem and it has been happenning for about a month and a half now and I am really pissed off. Thanks.

    The next step is to do my #3 suggestion.
    You have to eliminate the possibility that the problem is local to your network and by performing #3 you can do that.
    The next thing to do is while the problem is occurring, do a traceroute to some destination on the Internet. If your desktop is using Windows do the following:
    tracert www.google.ca
    The first hop in your listing will be your WRT router.
    The 2nd hop will be the 1st router within your ISP's network.
    If you do not get a response from the first hop, the problem is local to your network.
    If you don't get a response from the 2nd hop the problem could be that your router has lost connectivity to your ISP or that it's routing table is fouled up.
    If the 1st hop is reachable, you should log into your router and check the router to see if it has an IP address that would have been acquired from your ISP. The WRT is, by default, configured to acquire an IP automatically using something called DHCP. You can check the current IP by looking at "Status" after logging into the router.
    If the router has an IP address you could try tracerouting from the router itself, but if the traceroute failed from your desktop it will likely fail from the router.
    By the way when this problem occurs how long do you have to wait for connectivity to return?
    Does connectivity return by itself or do you have to do anything (i.e., is a router reboot required) to restore connectivity?
    If the traceroute from your desktop gets past hop 2, the problem is further out on the Internet. This will require further investigation.

  • Please help find driver, at the end of my rope with this ca

    I purchased a used soundcard from a computer repair shop near here a few months back. The sound card did not come with an installation CD. So i was pretty much left on my own to find drivers for it. Ive got a good many years experience building pcs so i figured this wouldnt be a problem. How WRONG i was lol. After being unable to find drivers for it originally I finally gave up and put the card in a static protection bag i had laying around and havent thought about it much since then just counted it as a loss. Now im back at it trying again to find drivers to get this card to work.
    The following is every bit of information i feel applicable to this sittuation, however if anymore infos needed please let me know and ill try to provide it.
    My operating system= windows XP with SP2
    The following is off the card itself. (which says its a creative sound blaster Li've!)

    I mounted each image in daemon tools and attempted to install and recieved the following error
    ERROR= Setup could not detect any sound blaster audio card on your system. Please ensure that your sound blaster hardware is properly installed before running this setup program. Setup will now exit.
    Im kindve at a loss as how to proceed. Ive tryed looking through driverguide.com and a few other generic driver sites without much luck. If anybody at all has any suggestions on this id be very appreciati've. Like i said its a used card so it could be an OEM but it appears to be an ODM but who knows im by no means an expert on all this. I may have missed one of the LIVE isos off that filefront site but i dont think so. The only one i see thats left is the external one and its an internal card so i dont see how that could be right.

    It is necessary to define clearly  col1 first record is 10 col2 first record is 20 ..
    col1 second record is 15 col2  second record is 25 .
    COL3 first value is 10 / 20 .
    col3 second value is 15 / 25 .
    This datas come from internal table .
    When I add at the end for all columns it get wrong calculation or lets say I want to do like total col1 10+ 15 total  col2 is 20+ 25 . Total column3 is would like to be 25 / 45 .
    How can I insert a line which is doing this operation in my alv .

  • Please help, I'm at the end of my rope...

    I got my 30gb video iPod a couple of months ago. Well, today I was running iPod restore and it got unplugged. Since that happened, my iPod can't be recognized by any USB port on my computer or on my friends mac. We've tried using different cables in case they were damaged and that didnt' work. My iPod does make the sound like it's trying to load something but it just keeps repeating and doesn't stop unless i plug it in or unplug it. Also, nothing shows up on the screen even if I reset it or try to put it into Disk Mode. Is there anything I can do or will I have got get it serviced?

    Now I've got another problem with it. After I posted my original question here, I didn't touch my iPod again. Well it just made a horrible noise that sounded like two pieces of steel grinding against one another. It hasn't made a single sound since then and now it's completely cold. I fear the worst for my shiny companion...It seems that my only option now is to get it serviced but feel free to post anything that you may think will help.

  • Bluetooth not available - at my wits end.

    Hello Apple community, this is my first post.
    Problem:  Bluetooth not available - i think it started after installing Lion, intermittent on and off for about 12 months, gave up about 6 months ago until now.
    System:   Macbook 13.3 mid 2010 OSX Lion 10.7.5
    Tried:       PRAM Reset
                   SMC Reset
                   Removed apple.com.bluetooth.plists
                   All devices disconnected
                   All wireless disabled
                   Auto login
                   Hold power button until led flashed
    Full shutdown - overnight even disconnected the battery, on startup bluetooth worked, but the batteries in the mouse went flat (6 months old lol) then no bluetooth after installing new batteries.
    Too scared to try a complete wipe and reinstall, i can't backup with time machine until i get a large external drive 1tb+
    Please help i am my wits end trying to get this working,

  • OK...I am at my wits' end here!

    Hello all,
    I just received my iPod shuffle in the mail today (it was ordered on eBay from Circuit City, a major retail electronics chain in the US). It was sold in excellent working condition, according to Circuit City (I have dealt with them before).
    Now, When I plug my shuffle into the computer, the amber light blinks steadily. BUT! The Shuffle does NOT appear in iTunes (I am using 6.0.1 or whatever the newest version is, and when I click preferences->iPod, it says "No iPod connected), and it does not show up as a disk in My computer. As a matter of fact, when I open the "Safely remove hardware" dialog, nothing shows up! According to documentation, the amber light blinking means "Do not disconnect", but according to my computer, it's not connected at all! I have tried restoring it, but the iPod updater (1.1.3) won't recognize the shuffle; and from what I have read about the new update, I am mighty reluctant to download and update the shuffle with this new software (after reading the horror stories about it).
    PLEASE, I am at my wits' end! I desperately want to be able to love my shuffle, but it is being an impossible &#$%@ right now! Unfortunately, I don't think Apple will repair it under warranty because I bought it used from Circuit City (it was not in the original packaging...sigh)...and it's not the first problem I've had with an iPod product (my 4g 20GB's click wheel died on me, and I can't afford $249 to replace it). Alas, I think this may be the last Apple product I'll ever buy...
    I do apologize for the length of this rant, but I really really need help! Thank you all in advance...

  • As a follow up from my recent question, I turned off the compatibility mode under all and regular, clicked out ok, ok then then went to itunes and played a song as they said to, and then tried to open the store and STILL CANNOT OPEN STORE, please Help!!!

    Turning off the compatibility mode by deselecting the check box under each thing that it wants did nothing for my access to the itunes store, still a white page with "itunes store" in the middle of it.  This is getting rediculous! Someone with computer smarts please help, I am at the end of my rope!

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
    (Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
    In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
    If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
    Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
    If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Iphone problem, please help!!!

    My 8gb Iphone 4 was saying it was full and wouldnt let me sync any new music/apps, etc. It had nearly 2gb of 'other' so using DiskAid I managed to delete all the 'other' files and have alot more space on my phone, however, after doing this, none of my songs will play. It skips through all my songs without me pressing anything, yet they play on my Itunes libary. I have tried syncing it all again, I have also tried to back up and restore my Iphone but it says there isnt enough space on the phone for me to do so. All my music is illegally downloaded as I cant afford to pay for songs on Itunes, and the songs I have actually bought from Itunes (which is about 5 songs) wont even play either. I spoke to a woman in my local Apple store and she suggested backing up everything and then restoring it, but I'm scared incase I do it wrong and lose everything. She said it is possible that the songs names are on my phone, but the actual track isnt.. How do I sort this? This is very urgent as I am doing a music course at college and I need my music on my phone! Please help me or I will end up smashing my phone with a hammer!

    You have to do a DFU on the phone. the other stuff is firmwear and sofware. If you delete this than you must do a DFU. A DFU is pretty much distoying the phone and re-downloading everything. If you do this than you will not be able to restore from any back-up. I am with you man. I have a 64Gb iPhone 5 and the other files takes up 9Gb of space. It is very annoying.

    I have posted a couple of times and no one answers me... someone please help.
    it started towards the end of last year. I wasn't thinking and unplugged my usb photo printer... and turned it off like normal. and the next time i turned it on it gave me an error that the date and time was wrong.. at 1969 i think... i tried to fix it in date and time.. and tried to play a game. about 5 minutes into the game my computer locked up... and it hasn't been right since.
    after being off for hours and turning back on.. it will stay on for maybe 20 minutes before freezing up.. and then when i try to restart it, it will go through the gray apple screen with the spinning wheel and go to the blue screen and stay there..
    i have tried just about everything it seems with no avail... i've tried resetting the PMU.. (maybe I am doing it wrong...) i've been able to run disc utility and repaired it.. but it still didn't work...
    i am trying to get all of the important stuff off of my ibook so that in the off chance that I need to whipe the HD.. I have everything that I need.. but it doesn't stay active long enough to get more than a few pictures
    ok.. so what do i do?! someone help!!!

    Questions and Suggestions
    Work through these in order, if you haven't already done so through your psychic powers
    Have you recently installed new RAM lately?
    How much hard disk space is used and available (free)?
    Check your battery charge state.
    Run the computer without anything connected and see how it goes.
    If it still freezes, Press Option + Command + Escape keys together and attempt to Relaunch Finder. Try it more than once.
    Be aware of what you are doing at the time, does it occur when using a particular application, or doing a particular task?
    Are you using the Classic environment?
    Restart and reset the PRAM, by starting up and holding down the Option + Command + P + R keys simultaneously.
    If it still fails:-
    If you boot up from the installer CD, as you have done and checked the Disk, let it just sit for say an hour. If it shuts down it is a hardware problem, if not it is software.
    With the Apple hardware Test CD, reporting that it could not work on that model computer is strange. Did you unplug all peripherals, including an ethernet cable, printer cable?
    And did you hold the C key down long enough until the little picture appears (OK, you said it didn't get that far, but that is what should occur)
    One hardware test you can do without the CD is download and use rember a shareware RAM tester.
    If Software related, start up in safe mode, and use it for an hour.
    If it shuts down it is the OS, if it does not it may well be a third party application.
    Try these things, to help determine if it hardware or software.

  • Please help cannot open itunes

    I just got this computer a few days ago. I have been spending my evenings getting everything set up and transferred from the desktop me and my sister used to share. So tonight I was getting my iTunes installed. After I installed iTunes, I imported the playlist, and then I updated to version 8.1. I believe the version from the external drive was 7.something. after I had it all set up I tried to play a song to see that all went well. when I tried to play a song it said I need to validate the computer, but my sisters e-mail came up. I figured it was because she got her ipod first and this file came from the old computer. I tried validating with my e-mail and it wouldn't work. I still thought it was the actual iTunes program giving me the problem so I decided to delete it and download it from online instead of the external drive. After I deleted it I realized that the problem was with the songs, since she bought them. I decided to re-install the itunes I had installed previously. I couldn't find it in the recycle bin so I re-installed the one on the external. when I did I got this error message "The file "i Tunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." and the program would not open. so I deleted it again and downloaded the new one from online. That one said it needed to be opened with an application, and I don't know what that means. So I tried a system restore and it said my system restore failed. Now i cannot get any iTunes installed and working on my computer. I tried looking for the file and couldn't find it. I was gonna delete the iTunes folder manually through "my computer" but then it said it might make some things not work right and I got scared. Please help me fix this.

    i ended up doing a complete system recovery and got the old itunes off, but i still have the problem of getting "this file needs to be opened with an application" after i download itunes 8.1 setup

  • At my wits end with BT - can anyone help please?

    This is a long and ongoing saga and so I apologise for the long post.
    In February due to a change in job I needed to change the payment date of my DD payment. I did this online and received an email confirming the new payment date of the 28th. I stupidly assumed that was the date BT would take payment. The account is only used for Direct Debits and so money is put in there shortly before they're due. Over two weeks before the payment was due I received an unpaid DD letter from my bank. BT had attempted to take the payment early. I contacted BT and was assured my payment date was the 28th and they had no idea why payment had been attempted early. Later that day BT called to discuss the returned DD and I explained it was a BT error. A week later BT attempted to take the DD again. Once again I contacted them to be told my DD was definitely set up for the 28th and "there must be an error on the system" Later that day I received another call from BT to inform me my DD had been returned unpaid and again I explained that it was a BT error. Not trusting BT I cancelled the DD with the intention of making my payment online on the 28th. On 28th Feb before I had chance to make the payment I received a call from someone at BT who was mentioning late payment charges etc. I made it clear that any charges would be unacceptable as the error was down to BT and my payment wasn't actually late. I was asked to make payment over the phone but as it was difficult to understand each other I made it online and gave the payment reference number.
    My online balance at this point showed as zero and so I decided against setting up another DD for BT to attempt to take money as and when they pleased. Late March I received a phone call from BT telling me my DD wasn't set up and I had an outstanding balance of £57.75. I explained I'd had a zero balance but it would appear that my online balance was showing incorrectly. The person I spoke to said he could set up a new DD for this amount but as a one off it would come out on the 13th - something to do with making sure payment was made before the new bill came out and it taking X amount of time for a DD to set up. This would be a one off payment and after it had been made I'd be contacted to set up a new DD.
    On 20th April I received a call from UK based BT asking did I want to set up my new DD However to do this I would need to pay £120 over the phone. I asked why when I definitely had a zero balance, I'd received no bill and quite simply owed BT no money at that point. I was told there was a problem seeing all the data and somebody would call me back after the Easter weekend. Instead later that same day somebody else UK based phoned me asking me to set up my DD. I explained about the earlier phone call and she was confused as to why I'd been asked to pay anything as I clearly had a zero balance. I set up a new DD with her for £60 a month, payments to be made on 28th, starting 28th May. A few days after this my new bill arrived for £109.
    On 5th May my bank called me to say once again BT had attempted to take the DD early but this time they'd attempted to take £109. Once again I called BT and this time spoke to an Indian gentleman who advised me to cancel the DD with my bank while I was on the phone with him, he'd cancel it at that end and then he would set up a new one. He said letters of confirmation would be sent out to me.
    I sent an email to BT explaining all this and also saying I wasn't happy that they'd charged me £10 late payment charge on the new bill for unpaid DD. Had BT taken the payment when they should it wouldn't have been unpaid!! A gentleman phoned me back, assured me the £60 a month DD was set up for the 28th starting 28th May. He also emailed me confirmation of this.
    On 9th May I received an email saying I had a "supplementary bill" so looked at my online account to see my bill had gone up by about £5. My DD wasn't showing as set up on the online account but I decided to leave it a couple of days before contacting BT. Later that day though I received three letters. One saying my DD had been cancelled as discussed, and two others saying my DD had been set up to be paid 28th of every month starting 28th May for the amount £104!
    Before I had chance to call BT someone UK based called me to ask did I want to set up my DD as I had no payment plan set up. By this point I'd more than had enough and told her I had one email and two letters clearly saying my DD was set up and the only reason she'd be calling to ask me to do this would be if BT had cancelled the DD themselves. I refused to set up the DD yet again and she put me through to India based billing to discuss what was happening. I was told a DD wasn't set up on my account, that I couldn't set one up unless I paid my bill in full and that line restrictions are due to come into place on 29th May if the bill isn't paid in full.
    Today my BT online account shows no DD set up. However my bank shows the new DD is in fact active. I have no idea when BT will take money, or for how much. I don't know what to do, do I cancel the DD and just pay all future bills in full when they come in and in doing so be penalised by BT for not paying by DD? Or do I just leave it and hope they finally get it right? Bearing in mind I've had two letters saying they're going to take £104 and an email saying £60 I can't see that happening.
    It appears not one BT department speaks to the other, half the calls aren't logged and nobody at BT listens to the customer. I have spoken to Ofcom about this and they've advised me to give BT one more chance to sort this out and then go to the Ombudsman. I've just come across the forums and so am giving this a try to see if I can get any joy here.
    At some point during all this I spoke to somebody UK based who told me to send my bank charge letters to BT which I have done but as yet have heard nothing in return! I've lost track of how many people I've spoken to and am at my wits end with it all.

    I'm even more concerned now after hearing back regarding my initial post. Apparently any cancellations or changes are showing as done by me using the self help platform on my BT account. This isn't the case. The actions carried out on certain dates listed on the email I received were all carried out by BT over the phone and not myself. I didn't even know it was possible to cancel a direct debit using the BT website. I thought it had to be cancelled at the bank and then a phone call to BT. I was logged onto my BT account while the phone calls were taking place but any action was carried out by BT and not myself. 
    BT are insisting I have no DD set up. Yet it clearly shows on my bank account that there is an active DD for BT. To confirm that, I've spoken to my bank today who have verified there is most definitely a DD set up to pay BT on the bank account. They've double checked the account number with me and it's definitely for my BT account. The bank are sending me a letter confirming it's an active DD for me to include all other details for the Ombudsman because I really feel this needs fetching to their attention. 
    To be fair to the person who has replied I have been told I can pay a small amount and set the DD up rather than pay in full or face restrictions. But despite BT's insistence that I have no DD set up my bank clearly states I have. I'm now going to have to cancel the DD that BT are sure isn't active and set it up again.
    Incidentally the monthly payments I'm to make are £45 - less than the £60 and a lot less than the £104 previously mentioned! So on one hand I will have a satisfactory conclusion but on the other I have to still cancel a "none existent" existing DD, set a new one up and am out of pocket on bank charges caused by BT trying to take payment on the wrong date. I then have to trust they'll not do the same thing again.......
    It's all like a stupid joke that's just not funny.

    Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
    Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

    Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
    Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
    Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
    Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
    If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Syncing with a calendar - please help, I'm at my wits end

    I have a PC running windows Vista, which I bought at the end of October. I then bought an iPhone in mid November. Now, if I'd known I would've just bought a Mac , but I have the hardware now and am trying to make it work for me.
    I worked out Windows Calendar wouldn't sync with the iPhone, so looked for an alternative. The only thing I could think of doing was signing up for MS Office 2007 (Small business version). I normally use OpenOffice for their Word, Excel and Powerpoint style progs so only really looked to Ms Office to get the calendar working. I have now reached the end of my MS free trial and to upgrade to the full version will cost me over £300, which is ludicruous just to get a calendar to work (the PC only cost £420!). The home and student versions don't have Outlook, so are no good for me.
    Can anyone suggest a calendar application I could try? I signed up to MobileMe in the hope this had a calendar, but it comes back to the same problem again.
    Help! I'm really cross about this because the guy in the phone shop said I could sync with my PC, but never said I would need specific software!
    Please help! There must be something I can do that won't cost the earth!

    p.s. I do have an old cd for Office XP. Will this work? Problem with that is Ms Office has now disabled all useful funtions, including save, so I can't get all my emails off before wiping Ms Offic 2007 from my machine and installing Office XP. That will mean a day of printing out emails, etc, so I don't lose anything! Grr!
