Please help, novice!

Write an application using the while loop that displays even integers from 20 to 0, then displays the results in a message dialog.
My question is basic: how do I get the loop to output only even numbers?

I'm currently trying to teach myself how to use flash CS5 and actionscript 3 and apart from doing small amounts of programing here and there I'm a complete novice.
I have 36 photographs taken at 10-degree angles, making an object and i have each image in a different scene, with hidden buttons asigned to different parts of the object so that whenever you hover your mouse over them it provides some more information.
What I want to do is to be able to cycle through these images in the different scenes using the up and down buttons on the keyboard.
I'm hoping that I'm at least half way there having assigned the 'hot-spots' but I'm just stuck on the final part... please help!!!!

If you are talking about the arrow keys on the keyboard you will have to use a Keyboard Event listener and take note of the constant value for resulting KeyCode

Macbook white non startup - please help novice

Please help - i've just bought my first mac and i'm already stuck .
Everything was fine - it worked ok, but i turned it off and all I'm getting now is the spinning wheel on a grey screen - i've tried everything the manual suggests.

If you just bought a new machine, I would suggest getting Apple phone help. I am far out of warranty, no Apple Care (bought it for the desktop, never used). One thing that is helping me is that I can access & manipulate my MacBook via my desktop iMac. I spent about 3 days checking out this discussion forum and trouble shooting prior to posting my conundrum. It sounds like starting up from the Install DVD and an Archive & Install are good places to start - anyone please correct me if I am wrong. Good luck!

Please Help - Novice - ITunes update lost my sound.

I have spent all day trying to sort this out, please help.
My IPhone asked me to update ITunes to the latest version, I did this, updated the IPhone as well and then added some music, after it synced I noticed my sound icon had gone and when I tried to play music/video's there was no sound on the computer at all.
I uninstalled ITunes and Quick time and re-installed, no change, I did a system restore back a day and the sound came back but ITunes reverted to the older version and when I plugged in the IPhone is said it could not access it as the library was created on a newer version.
I use windows XP, have checked the Sound in Control Panel and nothing is registered, Direct X says no sound card attached, I have tried downloading Direct X again, in the Devices Manager is has a Multimedia device listed with the yellow? mark, I have gone through trying to update drivers but nothing works.
The only way I can get the sound back is a system restore but then ITunes is out of date and will not access my phone, if I then update ITunes from the website it takes off the sound again so I am going round in circles, has anyone else had this problem or has anyone got any advise.. please keep in mind I am not very technical..

try just move the .dll file from C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes (or C:\Program Files\iTunes for window 32 bit) to desktop. reboot should fix it. if not you have to reinstall itunes(http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923) choose repair if one component does not work.

Please help novice due to install Leopard

1. Excitedly, but nervously going to install Leopard in the next few days. Will I eventually need more than 512 RAM? Anyway, I would like to upgrade this to 1GB. How do I go about this? Do I purchase an external drive?
2. I know I should back-up important files, but will everything be transferred over to Leopard automatically?
3. Does the Archive (from Archive and Install box)stay permanently, or can I delete it eventually? Will I be able to access files in the Archive folder?

Ok. Good luck on your endeavor. Here is my advice.
1. Upgrade you G5 to about 2Gbytes of memory. You can buy it very cheaply from Other World Computing at http://www.macsales.com/.
2. If you want to back up your files using TIme Machine I suggest you buy a G-Drive from G-Technology. Their disks come pre-formatted for Mac O/S X. There are many people on this forum that buy their disks from Costco and think they've successfully reformatted their PC formatted disk to support Mac Journaled O/S, and haven't completed the exercise properly, therefore they get into trouble. G-technology is at http://www.g-technology.com/ . Apple's new Time Capsule is another way to backup but it is a wireless connection. Your choice, either Time Machine or Time Capsule.
3. Archive and install or Erase and install are/is the only way "safe" to upgrade to Leopard. Many people on this forum have gotten themselves into severe trouble by merely doing the "upgrade". A&I will leave an archive file on your disk that you may eventually delete. I don't know how to access this file but it should be straightforward by answering some "restore" questions.
4. If you do the A&I or the E&I you may have to reinstall your printer drivers. I am not sure what your printer is, therefore, I cannot say if it comes in Leopard. However, many many drivers are included. HP is in the process of upgrading all their drivers and software to 10.5.

Slow net connection after Yosemite - someone please help novice

so i have read quite a lot on here which has all been very interesting so i hope you will bare with someone who really does not know a lot about computers.
Since the dreaded Yosemite upgrade my mac has ground to more or less a total halt trying to open the internet in any number of browsers (safari and firefox to name but two).
I have been able to run a speed test and says my wifi has my 60+gb download speed and about 6 upload so no issue there.
I am confused to say the least what has gone wrong as my phone and iPad seem to work ok. Can anyone tell me in simple terms if there are any solutions what the problem is as i am really crippled and my business is suffering.
PS Apple i am really not impressed by this totally botched upgrade and when going into a store to see one of the technicians they will only see you if you pay.. this is your fault i might remind you.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.

Laptop crash with i tunes library. Have recently sync with my work mac but I am missing all my old songs. Please help. I tunes novice.

My laptop crashed with mine and my husbands I tunes Library. I have sync my i phone with my work mac but I am still missing some of my songs.
My husband was unable to do this as his i phone broke too and he has no music at all.

Apple devices are designed to sync with a single library. If you move the device to a new library iTunes will suggest wiping the device and reloading it with the contents of the library on the new computer, even if most of the content is identical. For an iOS device this process would also delete and reinstall any applications which would discard and settings or saved data associated with the apps. You probably don't want to do this.
Ideally you would have migrate the working library from the computer previously used to manage the device (the laptop) to the computer you now want to use (the desktop) before adding other new content into the new computer's library. That way the device would have easily moved from syncing with one machine to the other.
I'm not quite sure what the best next step is at this point. Does the desktop library sync with any other devices?

Please help with a Poster Frame

I have imported an FLV into Flash using "Video Import" and selected a prebuilt skin that gives play, volume and caption control. The movie has autoplay turned off so when I viewed on the webpage it shows a black first screen and the skin beneath it. I would like to insert a poster frame that will hide when the user presses play on the skin. I was a novice with AS 1 and 3.0 is making me facepalm. Please help, I've already tried Flashkit and Actionscript.org and not gotten any answers. Thanks!!

Okay in Frame 1 I have an AS layer I copied your code into, layer two is the movie clip with the image named 'myPoster' and the third layer contains the FLV playback named 'myVideo' so I changed the names in the code to:

Please Help Me Install Flash player

Yesterday I unintentionally uninstalled Flash player with a product named Perfect Uninstaller. During the process it states that the Item I uninstalled will be uninstalled now and forever. Every time I click "run" to install it starts for about one second and then stops completely. I'm beginning to think that they meant it and that there is some sort of blocking going on but that is just an assumption. I hope some can help. I am a novice obviously. I am using Windows XP.

I am using Oracle BDBXML 2.4.16. In the following, policyContainer.dbxml has around 1000 documents and productsContainer.dbxml around 10 documents. The following query is taking around 6 - 8 seconds to fetch the data of around 300 records. I have created node-element-equality-string indexes on PolicyEvent, PolicyStatus, Archived, IsLatest, ProductID and CompanyID.

The good news is that your indexes are being used (anywhere in the query plan where you see index="node-element-equality-string"), the bad news is that the entire policyContainer is being scanned several times (<SequentialScanQP container="policyContainer.dbxml" nodeType="element"/>). Your best bet is to upgrade to dbxml-2.5.16, since that has several improvements to the optimizer that should optimize away those scans. Failing that, use the shell command (dbxml) to add and remove indexes and see how that changes the query plan and speed. The following line is what is causing the scans:
{$state/*,$header/*,$datatable/*}So add indexes that will help to locate those nodes, or change that line so that the query is faster.

hi! right, I am a java dunce. I am doing a web design degree at uni and annoyingly have to take a programming module. I just don't get it one bit and the lecturer is a sadist and won't help. I have tried countless books and what not but it all goes over my head.... to the problem
We were given some code for a "guess the number" game. it generates a random number between 1 and 1000. You then have to guess the number. If you guess higher it should output "you ned to guess higher" and visa versa. Also if you enter 0 it should exit the program (which it does)
The code had logical and syntax erros in it most of which I think I have managed to find but it still does not work and I have been at this for hours now (even my headache has a headache)
It compiles now but when you enter a number the program just spits out the line "Enter your guess, from 1 to 1000 inclusive (0 to quit):" again but doesn't tell you if you should go higher or lower.
I can only get it to spit out the "you need to guess lower" line if you enter a number above 1000 which is wrong.
please please help me. Just point me in the right direction or something but please use novice language or I think I might have to go jump of the nearest peir.

PLEASE HELP (Very New to web content)

Hi guys. I made a website for a client in ImageReady. They
wanted to be able to update with business news on thier own, and
have me do the major site updates. I was thinking they could do
this by me creating a blog on blogger for them and trying to figure
out a way insert the blog into the website I created. I want to put
into a specific spot on the website and the client wanted it to
scroll so that customers can see previous posts. I know alot of you
think that scrolling boxes kind of suck but for this purpose I
really think it would work really cool. Can you please help me. I
have very little knowledge of code. I am actually a video motion
graphics guy, and because of my knowledge of photoshop started to
move into web. So if you have to talk to me like an infant about
the code, please do. : ) Here is the wbsite I want to add it to:

All you have is a series of interchangeable images. You
really haven't built
a website. You have built an online PowerPoint show. There is
no text. Turn
off graphics in your browser and look at your site. Is that
what you want
some visitors to see?
The mistake is building a site in Image Ready. Build your
images there but
add your text in DreamWeaver.
Sorry, but were I you I would get a good book or two and
start over. Might
as well do it right than have a competent designer tell your
client you did
it wrong.

Connecting two programs - please help

My apologies for not getting a response on this forum, but this may have been because this is a fairly generic Java programming question, rather than an issue specific to the JSE product, the purpose of this particular forum.
So may I suggest that you check out http://java.sun.com/ which has a full set of facilities for those such as yourself who are new to Java programming.
