Can I maintain Activity Type to an Employee.
My client is having Time Sheet entries through CATS and would like to have actual hours booked against projects as well as activity type. Each activity type will have a different rate. Please suggest where I have to maintain activity type in employee master.

Maintain Text Types in Material Master
Hi,
Is it possible to maintain different text types in the materials master "Sales text" tab just like we can maintain at the sales order header and item levels.
In VOTXN there is no option for configuring text types for material master (text object MVKE) so I was wondering that if it is possible at all. Please let me know if you have any idea on the same.

In Material Master you can maintain the "Basic data text". It can be maintained in Basic data 1 view by selecting the Additional data. This text can also be fetched according to your requirement with the help of developer.

Hi all,
In PS we donu2019t capture any cost. In such case, While entering timesheet, the system through an error message, to enter sender Activity type and it is not allowing to enter timesheet.
Now, what should be done to skip entering activity type and enter timesheet without entering activity type?
I guess it is controlled through work center, by not maintaining costing tab, but the system does not allow to save the work center without entering the cost center under costing tab.
Please suggest, in entering time sheet without activity type

Go to --> SPRO --> Cross Application Components --> Time Sheet --> Settings for all User Interfaces --> Time Recording --> Choose Fields -->Data Entry section --> Activity types
Double click and in reference to data entry profiles we can restrict the entry for the activity type whether it is required / Display / Hide / Input.
Check and confirm whether the problem is solved

You plan activity-dependent primary costs as follows on a cost center(s)/cost center group:

This means that you can plan a fixed amount and a variable amount for your primary costs. Variable costs are the costs incurred in producing a given activity, proportional to the quantity of activity produced. You can calculate target costs based on the costs split and the operating rate (actual activity quantity related to the plan activity quantity). Target costs for costs planned by value are comprised of:
Plan fixed costs
Plan variable costs adapted to the actual operating level (= target costs of the actual operating level)
Example:
To produce 1000 hours of activity type FST, costs of $400,000 are required. This amount represents the variable costs. The portion of fixed costs, $200,000, is incurred irrespective of the activity quantity.
For activity-dependent costs, which are planned based on quantity, the following formulas apply:
Variable target quantity = Variable plan quantity X Operating rate
Fixed target costs = Fixed target quantity X Fixed price

Variable target costs = Variable target quantity X Variable price

Postings are made to old activity type but not new in Process Order.
Hi friends,
We have created old activity type and assigned. However, the postings are made to old actity type. There is no plan price for new activity type.
So please suggest whether I missed any thing here.

I assume you created a new acivity type, and not an old one? Where did you assign it? KP26, KP06, C203?
Did you recalculate your plan activity prices? KSPI. Download new qties? KSPP.... -

I have a requirement as mentioned below-
I have certain pm work center like engineer,fitters.But under engineer i have 3 different activity type like Sr.engineer time,Asst.engineer time,Jr.engineer time.I have assigned all these 3 activity type in my work centre in cost tab page along with standard formula SAP008.Now , my requirement is when I assign this work center in my equipment or maintenance order ,in operation tab pages of maintenance order ,only these three activity type should flow from where I want to select my relevant activity type.But instead of this,all the activity type around 10 nos whatever defined by CO consultant , is flowing to my order from where i need to select.I want only those 3 activity type which I had defined in my work center.can anybody please explain how to fulfill my requirement.thanks in advance.

you can make the default cost element by creating the external profile in IMG and assigning to the order type ,also in easy access screen during order creation you can mention as default values in the menu Extras>settings>default values
As per what cost element has to be specified kindly consult with the CO team,regarding the mandatory field may be you have specified the fields as mandatory in IMG settings,kindly check

Assignment of Activity Types to Cost Centre
hi,
i am creating a work centre and for costing purposes i need to give the activity type and the cost centre.
even though i have defined an activity type and in it used an allocation cost element which in term is assigned to a cost centre,in the work centre when i search for the activity type the system shows an error.....No activity types assigned to cost center X, controlling area Y on 07.02.2007 where X and Y are variables ofcourse.
what could be the possible reason?

Check using KL02 or KL03 again, especially the validity dates of the activity type and may be the coster center KS02, KS03 as well. I hope, that controlling area is fine.

Maintain number range interval for master data upload for existing employee
Hi Experts,
1)I have the scenario to upload additional data for existing employees in PA. Employees are already existed in SAP HR , But additional Infotypes are required to maintain for those emploees
2) I have the senario where i have to upload master data for new employees.
Pls give the detailed description of how to maintain number range interval i.e. External or Internal for upload in both the above scenario. Do we have to maintain number range manually in master data record & then upload it Through BDC or LSMW?

Yes Mr. Patil...
For existing employees
you need to execute HIRING ACTION Through BDC with External number range. While recording you have to use atleast three infotype i.e. IT0000,IT0001,IT0002. In addition you can upload other infotype through PA30.
For new employees
While configuration you can create another number range as internal for new hiring. and use NUMKR feature as well.
Here I don't understand that why r u looking for upload process for new hiring, if it is not mass hiring. It should be day to day activities which would be done by user through PA40.

Could you please provide, with the data source, that can be used to derive activity types (ActTyp),for service orders.
(Not maintenance activity type (PMACTTYP, in BI))
I have checked ZLIS_18_ORDER, where i could find (Maintenance activity type, ILART) but not Activity type.
Or if we need to create a Genric DS for same, could you ppl please provide me with the table name, to get the Activity type.

Hi PP experts,
I have created the activity type and assigned it to work center. While saving it is showing the following error
Error: "You are attempting to assign the activity type to the workcenter, However this activity type is not been set up in controlling area for the cost center"

Try with this T codes.
KS01,KS02 - Create & Change Cost centre Respectively.
KL01,KL02 - Create & Change Activity Type.
KP26 - Activity Output/Prices.
In CR01 while creating a work centre,you will be assigning a cost centre and activity types defined & valid for that cost centre.

Work Center takes only 6 activity types
Hi
I have 6 types of labor activity type ( L1 to L6 ) , 1 machine and 1 set up. Total 8 activity types.
Now if the planned labor is eg L1, the actual may be L6. But I cannot assign all 6 labor type in the work center. Work center allows only upto 6 activity types.
I checked in HR module, where in CAT2 we can record ACTUAL activity type / order / employee data. This can be moved to controlling. But when it is planning, then I dont know.
How can I accomodate all 6 labor type in the work center.

If you are in a production order scenario -
You will have to create 2 work centers... One for Labor and another for Machine/Set up... there by you will have 2 operations in routnig
If you are in a process order scenario -
You can do with one single work center... This will accomodate 6 act types..
Apart from work center, there is a concept of "Secondary Resource" in Process order scenario, which can accomodate your other 2 act types...

Confirmation of PM activity types in Plant Maintenance or Controlling

Can anyone tell me if there is a possibility to Confirm activity types of PM workers on PM orders? Which transaction is used for this?
I would like to settle indirect costs of PM Cost center to PM orders. The tracing factor in this case would be the PM activity types confirmed by the PM workers.
However, I don't know the PM module and I don't know whether it's possible to confirm activity types using some PM T-code?
Should I use for this purpose KB21N (enter direct activity allocation) in Controlling, or is confirmation done somewhere in PM module?

You are right...
Confirmation of the activites are always done thorugh PM module transaction only... if i am not worng T.code IW41.. any how check the t.code otherwise consult to your PM consultant
Only very rarely KB21N is used to rectify or to add some xtra cost
In day to day lifr the confirmation is done by PM department not by costing department.
As suraj written for planning activity you use KP26.
Yah..for allocating the indirect cost to PM order where the basis of allocatio is on confirmed activity cost...this is a simple case of using costing sheet in PM order... where in Base put the activity allocation cost element which you have used in activity type master data and in over head key put % and in credit put cost center which incurrs the indirect expenditure and
the costing sheet assign in the valuation variant of the order type of the PM order..

Since the work center is mandatory you can make the activity type mandatory for workcenter master data record in OPFA IMG
or check in OIOPL where you can make the activity type as mandatory ,but i think it will only work once you nagivate the operation tab
or check whether user exit order at save will be useful

you mean defaulting of activity type based on operation control key ? if yes then this cannot be done i think .. activity type is mentioned in work centers and based on the work centers entered in operations you would have selection of activity type ...
Check whether you can do the same with set/get parmater ID in ABAP ..
