Work Center takes only 6 activity types

Hi
I    have   6 types of labor activity type ( L1 to L6 ) , 1 machine and 1 set up. Total 8 activity types.
Now   if   the planned labor is eg L1, the actual may be L6. But    I cannot assign     all   6 labor type in the work center.    Work center allows only upto 6 activity types.
I   checked in HR module, where in   CAT2 we can   record ACTUAL activity type / order / employee data. This can be moved to controlling.      But when it is planning, then I dont know.
How can I   accomodate all 6 labor type in the work center.

Hi Kamala
If you are in a production order scenario -
You will have to create 2 work centers... One for Labor and another for Machine/Set up... there by you will have 2 operations in routnig
If you are in a process order scenario -
You can do with one single work center... This will accomodate 6 act types..
Apart from work center, there is a concept of "Secondary Resource" in Process order scenario, which can accomodate your other 2 act types...

I understand that, you have a project activity in which different groups of people are working and you want to plan costs for all these groups of employees under the same project activity.
To achieve this, create different activity elements under that activity and assign specific WCs and Work duration to all these activity elements so that system will calculate aggregated costs and scheduling dates accordingly.

IW41: automatic update of activity type when changing the work center?

Hello colleagues,
when doing a time confirmation with IW41, we have following problem:
In the PM order the operations are assigned to a neutral executing work center, as it not known which individual technician is completing the operation later on.
Now when the individual technician is entering the time confirmation with IW41, system is proposing the work center indicated in the operation from the PM order, then technician is overwriting the work center proposal with his own individual work center ID (and pressing Enter), but the activity type is not getting updated automatically. So the technician must jump to field "activity type" and choose the correct activity type.
Is there any solution (hopefully with user exits!) to have the field "activity type" automatically updated with the one indicated in the work center, which was entered manually?

Hi Maheswaran,
yes, as usual all PM work centers have only 1 activity type assigned in the costing tab.
We also checked the settings of the activity type (KL03), but we just found one difference: the price indicator was set on 3 "Determined manually" - we've changed to 1 "Plan price, automatically based on activity" (..same setting as for the act. type of the work center with working update of act.type).
We tested already all possible constellations and scenarios, but we have not found any good reason for the behaviour.

Error Activity type 502000 not set up for cost center 1000 cc111

hi all
While creating a work center (CR01) I need to enter a cost center and activity type for machine hours. However, while entering the activity type the following message appears:
Message no. CR 061
You are attempting to assign activity type XXXX to the work center. However, this activity type has not yet been set up in controlling area 1000 for cost center xxxxx.
while creating the activity type in KL01 i have already given * in cc category so it should go for all cc
What could cause this problem?

Hi,
Check whether the activity type is maintained at the correct controlling area via KL03. If not, then create the activity type (KL01) in the corresponding controlling area.

Activity Type set up for cost center

Hi All ,
While creating a task list i m getting a message
Activity type is not set up for cost center in the year 2008
Message no. CR062
How could i set the activity type for cost center? Plz tell the procedure.

Dear Sunil,
Check out this,
1.Create a Cost center using T code - KS01.
2.Create an activity type using T code - KL01.
3.Assign the Rates for an activity type & cost center combination using T code KP26.
4.In the input screen of T code KP26 ,enter version as 0, from period 1 and to period as 12 and the Fiscal
Year as 2008,enter the cost center, activity type click on overview screen (F5)---> enter the per hour Rate
under Fixed price and set value as 2 for distribution key and plan price indicator as 3.
5.After performing this ,while creating the work center ,this combination of activity type & cost center
should be assigned.Then while creating routing/task list this work center can assigned for performing
operations.
Check with this & revert back if you need any further help.

in addition one more loom is comming in our unit and require new activity type.

Dear ,
To create new Activity Type , you need to follow the below steps :
KA01 - Create Primary Cost Element for the new activities type.
KL01 - Create Activity Type tied to the primary cost element.
KP26 - Change Activity Type/Activity Price Planning - maintain the Variable price
Assign the activity type to cost center using T code KP26.
In the input screen of T code KP26 ,enter version as 0, from period 1 and to period as 12 and the Fiscal Year as 20xx.
Click on Overview tab on top and key in costing details in this screen.
After performing this ,while creating the work center ,this combination of activity type & cost center should be assigned.
At work centre level , you should have
1.Create Standrad Value Key -OP19 and Formula Key in OP49.
2.Create Formula Parameters in OP7B or u can use existing one to assing in the Standard Value Key
3.In CR02-Assing the Standard value key in Basic Data and select the Formula Key in Costing tab with cost centre assingement .Save

Activity Types and Cost Centres

Our PP is not yet live now.
While going through the system settings, it is found that many activities (approx. 15 for indirect expenses also) are planned in the Production Cost Centres.
However, these activities are not included in the master data of the Work Centre. Only one activity type is mentioned there for machining.
Then, what is the purpose of other activity types planned if they are not mentioned in the Work Centre ?
Is there any other way these activity costs will appear in the Cost report ?

You are almost on the right line, activity quantities will be triggered in the cost center report based on the routing master and through the confirmation from the production orders.
For the creation of the work center - Activity Planning KP26 is required. Cost center/Activity
where we can plan the activity quantities.
Prior to that KP06 is required to plan the primary cost combination of (Cost Element/Cost center/Activity Type) where we can plan the cost.
Based on the above information we can calculate the plan price - KSPI
Based on the confirmation from the production orders activity quantities will be updated in the center report. cost will be updated with actual postings in the cost center.
So that you can calculate the actual activity price.

Hi,
Activity types are used to calculate the Internal Labor cost based on the Planned hours & Actual hours. In the Maintenance Order, Planned labor hours for Internal Operation will be maintained in Operation tab.
Activity Pricing will be done by FICO people in KP26, for the activity types against cost center. For example, there are electricians, mechanics & technicians.
For those people, based on their salary (in case of permanant employee of the company) or hour basis (in case of contract employee), these pricing will be done.
For Electricians, Per hour charge would be 10 INR.
For Mechanics, per hour charge would be 8 INR.
Work centers would have been created for these people. In the costing tab of work center, activity types & cost centers will be assigned. For these activity types & cost center combination, pricing will be done in KP26.
In Maintenance Order, based on operation type, work centers will be assigned.
For Example
In the order, first operation will be done by Mechanics. Second operation will be done by Electricians, again 3rd operation will be done by Maechanics.
Based on that work center selection in operations, activity types will be assigned. For the activity type & cost center in work center, we have defined the price in KP 26 already.
For first operation, work hour is 3 hrs. So planned cost would be 24 INR (3 hrs * 8 INR / hr)
For second operation, work hour is 5, so planned cost would be 50 INR.
For 3rd operation, same calculation based on the hours in operation & cost.
Once you do confirmation, actual cost will be calculated in the same way.

Different activity type for different capacity category in a work center

Multiple capacity categories can be created in a work center like
Engineer
Sr. Engineer
Architect
Rates for all of them will be different (obviously) , however we can only have 1 activity type as default in a work center . We intend to 'HR assignment' corresponding to each capacity category . how can we have multiple activity type for different capacities (Engineer , architect etc).

Requirement is to assign all persons (Engineer, architect ) to 1 work center and to 1 activity , but to default different activity type (corresponding to capacity category) in worklist of time sheet .

Active version in work center

Hi Gurus,
We have maintained various versions in SPRO under production-basic data-work center-capacity planning-active version of available capacity.
For a particular main work center we enter the active version in capacity header tab in the work center.
If I create a maintenance work order for that particular work center then
Do this active version gets copied to maintenance order ? ( currently it is not getting copied )
Do we have settings where in we can make this as a default value in maintenance order ? ( whatever set in work center will be copied to maintenance order )
My client have to enter version in every maintenance order created. The quantum is very large.
So client would like to have this active version copied from work center to maintenance order, like wise master data from an equipment gets copied to notification or order while being created.

In standard SAP there is no field in maintenance order operation or order that captures Active version of Work Center capacity .., In which field ur currently entering manually ?
If u have defined any custom field in order operation to capture this data , then try to use user exit : IWO10016 PM Order: Cust. enhancement to check operation user fields to get this data automatically in Order operation from work center ..

Argon GAS in activity type.

Is it possible to map the cost of activity type "welding process" where I am using argon gas as raw material. I want to map gas consumption for every miute in activity type. I have a work center where only welding is done. I have defined a standard key with processing time only. Now in this processing time I want to define the activity type with gas consumption as mentioned above.
Here I want that by entering the processing time in routing, all the cost encurred (material including GAS) mujst be updated and also GI should be done automatically.
Please help me whether this can be done or not??

You can define Gas consumed as parameter then assign that Standard value key......... now assign that standard value key to the workcenter ......... in this way you can capture the amount of gas consumed ....
Also mainatain the price for the gas consumed per unit qty in KP26..........
But I am not sure that GI will be done for the gas consumed as you have mentioned in the requirement automatically ........

Timesheet Booking - Master record for CC and Activity Type

Hi All,
We have maintained the Personnel number HR Master Data for Info Type = 315 as follows:
Period: Start 01.02.2010 to 31.12.9999
Sender Cost Center: 101067106
Activity Type: 007000
Period: Start 01.05.2009 to 31.01.2010
Sender Cost Center: 101067101
Activity Type: 006240
I am trying to book/edit the time for Week 04.2010 [Data Entry Period 25.01.2010 - 31.01.2010] in CAT2 Transaction Code then getting an error message as-
u201CCreate a master record for 101067106/007000u201D
Message no. KL001
Also Price Planning is not yet done for new/latest combination of CC and Activity Type i.e. Period: Start 01.02.2010 to 31.12.9999
I think system is picking up latest/current Cost Center and Activity Type in an error message and not according to Data entry Period entered CC and Activity type in CAT2.
Also one thing we have observed that in CAT2 Transaction Code CC filed is showing current Period cost Center only for all Period.
Is it standard behaviour from Logic point of view.?
Please suggest the solution regarding the above mentioned situation.

When are default values used from the employee master record?
The default values are only used for new CATS records, not for changing,
not for copying. If you also want to use the default values changing,
not for copying. If you also want to use the default values from the
employee master record when changing and copying from the work list, you
can use SAP enhancement CATS0002.
The system only uses default values, if you enter a number of hours and
choose 'Return'.
The cost center from infotype 0001 ('Organizational Assignment') is
proposed, if in Customizing of the data entry profile, you selected the
'Master cost center' field in the 'Default values' area.
The system proposes the cost center and the activity type from infotype
0315 ('Time Sheet Defaults'), if in Customizing of the data entry
profile you selected the 'Cost center' field (or the 'Activity type'
field).
If you have chosen both fields, the cost center from infotype 0315 has
priority, if you have defined it for the corresponding period.
read the note 333884 it explains that only creating new values the data from 0315 defaults

Activity type and skf calculation

Dear Forum,
I would like to seek advice of the difference of both calculation.
1 skf - 1 big amount allocated to all cost center. if the skf measurement is number of employee, then the cycle will apportion the amount according to the number of employee. correct?
2 activity type - if the measurement is hour, then base on amount per hour defined in kp26 to get the total amount. correct?
3 kp26 only can be used by activity type. not applicable to skf. correct?

1 . As long as you have the Variable portion type as SKF defined in your Allocation cycle you can distribute the cost according to the SKF defined for each cost center. hence you are correct.
2. yes based on the per unit price of the activity type defined in the KP26 the total amount of the activity is calculated.
(FOR ACTUAL the tcode is KBK6)
3. absolutely its only for activity types.

Combine Work Center Link Groups in one Work Center

Hello Experts,
our requirement is to combine the Work Center Link Groups of several Work Centers into one Custom Work Center.
For example, the work centers Knowledge Management and Managing Operations. (IC-MGRKM, IC-MGRMA)
They have Work Center Link Groups like IC-MGMA-CR or IC-MGKM-CR. Now we defined an own work center Y-IC-MGRMA and assigned these links groups (and others) to the Work Center.
However, when we open the Work Center we only ever see links of one work center type (for example only the links of Knowledge Management).
Is it even possible to combine the different work centers into one big work center with many links? What would we have to do to achieve this?
Help would be appreciated!

If I am not wrong you are assigning standard work Center Link Groups like IC-MGMA-CR & IC-MGKM-CR to newly created Work center Y-IC-MGRMA .If I try the same, all related links can be made visible. The process you are following is correct.
You may have confused with the nomenclature of your work center ID - Y-IC-MGRM. Please look into the "Group ID" column, if you are assigning standard group links as mentioned above you will find three logical link ID for Knowledge management & two for MGMA too. In short if five logical links are available in second level navigation then things are correct at you end. I tried it and its working fine.
