Hey All,
I have a bit of an issue the heap memory in the Sun
JVM with upload applets.
Please note I'm not a java programmer at all, I know
some asp, php and JavaScript but that is about it.
We use an upload applet to get data from our clients
into our website. Now if the file they are trying to
upload is over a certain size the upload stalls.
An "applet" means it is java.
We have, up till now been instructing users to go
into the Java program and add the following parameter
-Xmx256m. The 256 number could change depending the
size of the file and how much memory the user has.
Many users find this hard and some have made
mistakes.
It would suggest to me that there is a problem with the applet. Although that depends on what you do with the data once you get it.
Q. Is there a way to send the -Xmx256m parameter to
the JVM through an asp page?
Any way? Certainly. You could write an application (like in C++) that the user downloads and it reconfigures their computer to do absolutely anything.
You might even be able to do that via ASP. Can you impact the environment via ASP? If yes then you can do it.

  • Program that sends G-code pages to a machine tool's controller

    I am looking for some advice and examples (if possible) of programs that are able to send G-code programs to a CNC machine's controller.
    In other words I would like to build a program that could send the G-code program to the CNC brain of a machine tool (possibly through the serial port of the computer) . Also, I would like to read back programs from the CNC brain of a machine tool, bring them on the screen and possibly write an ASCII file that could be opened with notepad or word.
    Could somebody help?
    Thank you

    I think you want to use the parallel port rather than the serial port.  I've done what I think you want to do, but not in LabView.
    I have a Taig benchtop milling machine that I built my own stepper control box for (based on the allegro chips).  It like every hobby CNC machine I've seen uses step and direction lines for each axis.  IE, when the direction line is pulled high, each pulse on the step line moves one direction, when the direction line is pulled low, each pulse moves the stepper the other way.  This very low-level of control is quite popular in CNC machine tools and allows the controller to blend axes for circles etc.
    You've got a couple issues with trying to do this level of stepper control with LabView, the main issue is windows itself, the latencies out the parallel port is quite long due to the hardware abstraction layer in windows.  Second is the lack of determinism in windows.  So even after your pulses (IE data) start spewing out the serial port, there is no guarantee that all your data will come out in a smooth consistent manner.  Rather, there will be a splatter of data, a pause while windows does something else, then another splatter of data.
    This is a real issue when controlling either steppers or servos with step and direction type of controls.  Because the step pulse train is directly linked to motor speed.  Any fast changes in the pulse train period will cause motor stalls or other very undesirable behavior.  You can get around this to some extent by working very slowly.
    My workaround is to use TurboCNC (you get the source code when you register), which is a turboPascal program that runs in DOS.  DOS is so simple that it's quite deterministic and you can get nice consistent pulse trains out the parallel port.  I use various windows programs to build my parts, and generate G-Code (Autodesk inventer, meshcam, MasterCam, etc).  I've also written some, not-for-prime-time, Labview routines to edit G-code, view toolpaths, and unroll loops, etc.
    To use a non-real-time OS to control real-time critical tools like this, you can always build a hardware buffer.  Imagine a hardware Queue where your pulses are pushed into one side of the queue sporadically, and a hardware clock pops them out of the queue to your controller in nice smooth increments.  I've been toying with building such a thing, but honestly, the DOS turboCNC program works so well that it's not high on my list.
    The beauty of DOS and turboCNC is that you can use a $40 small laptop to control your machine.  I have a 486 HP laptop sitting on top of my controller next to my mill.  Small, cheap and effective, everything I want.
    Pushing your data out of the parallel port is fairly easy in LabView, and parsing G-code is also quite easy, but before you spend much time on it, make sure the data coming out your parallel port is suitable for your needs from a timing standpoint.
    Hope that helps,
    Sheldon

  • .asp page and Contribute CS4

    I have a member.asp page that site members are redirected to once logging in to the site through login.asp. Within the member.asp page is a text area that my client would be able to upload additional text and mp3 files for members to view using Contribute. The problem I'm having is that the member.asp page looks correct when I view it in Dreamweaver both local and remote, but when I view that page in Contribute it looks like the login.asp page.
    I'm sure I'm missing something. I had the .asp set up performed by a programmer and everything seems to be working fine with the database and login functions.

    Open a URLConnection
    Read from the connection for the response.
    URL url = new URL( "mysite/x.asp?PARAMETER1=VALUE&PARAMETER2=VALUE" );
    URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
    InputStream is = conn.getInputStream();
    //read the response.

  • ADOBE AIR USING ASP PAGES??

    Hi all,
    does anyone know if I can use adobe air with ASP pages? I
    want to create a app using my websit at
    MovieRepliCars. It run
    using asp pages. Please email me at
    [email protected]
    thanks

    You
    can write an AIR app that
    accesses those ASP pages. AIR/Flash/Flex come with several
    classes for accessing web services. If your site isn't already
    factored out to provide generic web services, it's a good thing to
    do anyway. Then your ASP pages and your AIR app both get their data
    from the same source. This also lets you choose to open up the API
    you've created to outside users, potentially increasing the
    popularity of your site.

  • How to include an ASP page from JSP?

    I had a working ASP page to be repeated on each page of the web site as an navigation bar updated from a single SiteMap.xml. Anyone knew how to include the ASP page from the JSP app?
    Thanks

    You might achieve your desired result by calling the ASP page from your JSP controller (server side) using the standard JAVA HTTP classes you could then process the resulting XML. I suggest you look at the JAVA API for more information in particular the JAVA.NET package and the HTTPUrlConnection class...

  • Send data from flash to a popup ASP page

    how can I send data from a flash webpage to an ASP page which
    has to open in a popup window.
    I can do them both seperatly, but how to integrate those 2 in
    1....
    Here's my script...

    I'm not sure if this will work, so you'll have to forgive me
    if I'm way off here. I use php for all my server-side goodness. I
    recently was doing sort of the same thing, but what I did to solve
    it was this (oversimplified of course)...
    variableSTRING =
    "?variableA=valueONE&variableB=valueTWO";
    getURL("javascript:popup('
    http://test.php"+variableSTRING+"
    ','myPopUp',800,600)");
    does that help?

  • Post Data to ASP page

    Hi,
    I'm trying without success to write an AS3 script to post data to a server ASP page (which is scripted in ASP to insert the data into a DB. The ASP script does not return any data to Flash.). It is set up so that it only receives data and does not send any data back.
    I've written a script which follows, but I get back a trace of "error" (see script), and when I independently check the DB, no new data that I am trying to send, is received. So, not working.
    storeBtn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,dbStore,false,0,true);
    function dbStore(event:MouseEvent):void{
    var g2:String;
    if (selectGm == true){
    g2 = "abc";
    if (selectGf == true){
    g2 = "xyz";
    var scriptPage6:String ="https://mysite.com/ASPpage.asp";
    var request6:URLRequest = new URLRequest(scriptPage6);
    request6.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
    var variables6:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
    variables6.aaa = data88;
    variables6.bbb = data99;
    variables6.name = name6;//carried over in the script from text input in an earlier frame: var name6:String = username_txt.text;
    variables6.ggg = g2;
    var loader6:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
    loader6.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES;
    loader6.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, handleComplete6);
    loader6.load(request6);
    //request6.data = variables6;
    var msg:String;
    function handleComplete6 (event:Event):void{
    var msg = event.target.data;
    if(msg=="true"){
    trace("Done!");
    } else{
    trace("Error: "+msg);
    I must be doing something wrong and would appreciate any help. I'm not sure how to send data when no return data is needed or requested?
    The goal is simply to send 4 items to the ASP page (aaa, bbb, name and ggg) which can process and insert these into a DB.
    Regards,

    Hi esdebon,
    Thank you. The script executes OK. No error, traces OK.
    But, I am still not geting any new data into the DB.
    This is most likely a mistake I am still making with the variables I am sending. I've used this ASP page before and it works. So, I will check what I am sending.
    Hi kglad,
    I am trying to adapt another script that I am using in the same FLA, but that script does get a return of data. So, I renamed it from variables to variables6, to give it a unique (non-conflicting name), and in my experimenting to try tofind what would work, I probably commented it out.
    Is it needed?
    One other way to deal with the data, if the DB will not work:
    SMTP Mail from the SWF/APK, using ASP, that sends the data to me.

  • HttpConnection.POST to an ASP page

    First - I'm new to J2ME & I'm a novice to java in general. I'm an ASP programmer & I need to write an app for a nextel phone in J2ME.
    I have written a test application that just sends an http request to my asp page and the page should send back the appropriate response to be displayed on the phone, however the asp page does not seem to be receiving the data. However it IS sending back a response. I have tried removing flush() from the dataOutputStream, but that didn't fix the problem. Here is the code inside my MIDlet:
    private void loginViaHTTPConnection(String strLogin) throws IOException {
    HttpConnection hconn = null;
    InputStream is = null;
    OutputStream os = null;
    StringBuffer data = new StringBuffer();
    try {
    hconn = (HttpConnection)Connector.open(url);
    hconn.setRequestMethod(HttpConnection.POST);
    hconn.setRequestProperty("IF-Modified-Since",
    "20 Jan 2001 16:19:14 GMT");
    hconn.setRequestProperty("User-Agent",
    "Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0");
    hconn.setRequestProperty("Content-Language", "en-CA");
    os = hconn.openOutputStream();
    // send request to the ASP script
    String str = "PIN=" + strLogin;
    byte postmsg[] = str.getBytes();
    for(int i=0;i < postmsg.length;i++) {
    os.write(postmsg);
    //os.flush();
    //receive response
    is = hconn.openDataInputStream();
    int ch;
    while((ch = is.read()) != -1) {
    data.append((char) ch);
    } finally {
    if(is!= null) {
    is.close();
    if(os != null) {
    os.close();
    if(hconn != null) {
    hconn.close();
    resultItem.setText(data.toString());
    display.setCurrent(resultScreen);
    The ASP code is:
    <%
    PIN = request("PIN")
    If PIN = "" Then
    response.write "INVALID"
    Else
    response.write "GOOD"
    End If
    %>
    The response returned is always "INVALID" no matter what I pass it.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    deepspace
    Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
    That worked like a charm.

                os = hconn.openOutputStream();

  • Caching asp pages

    hello everybody!
    we are running the iplanet proxy 3.6 in a reverse architecture (solaris) and
    need to cache .asp pages (i know, its microsoft...). the server caches
    everything (including
    ..html, .htm,.css, .js,..gif) except the asp extension. if we make a snoop on
    the proxys interface and look at the http header coming from the content
    server everything looks fine (cache control:"public", expiration date:
    somewhere in the future). so i guess, that the problem is in the
    configuration of the proxy. (we also tried ressources like caching only
    <http://www.contentserver.com/.*\.asp>*, but this doesnt work either...)
    can anybody help us?

    The idea to jumpstart by change was not the smartest one, but gives you an opportunity to use that "temporary" account as permanent. You do not have a choice cause obviously despite you thinking that old account is no more -it does exist on Apple servers. And if you are unwilling to share your [email protected] with friend, just create one extra [email protected] for your friend. One suggestion - do not use gmail.

    Do you have one, two or more entries in the left colum of Mail.app for your mail server(s)?  That is, do you have your Mail.app set up with either a btinternet entry, with a btyahoo entry, or both?  Or more?
    I'm guessing that you might have one account (btyahoo?) listed for incoming (IMAP server) mail, and with the outbound (SMTP server) mail is configured and named btinternet.
    Based on what little I see posted, it looks like BT uses both btinternet and btyahoo, but I'm not exactly clear on how they have their stuff set up, and their web set gets helpful and tries to help configure my mail — I don't immediately see a single web page with the mail server set-up details.  The BT email client set-up starts here.

  • Hp officejet 8610 fax sends out more pages than scanned - received partial output on remote end

    Hp officejet 8610 fax sends out more pages than scanned - received partial output on remote end

    Hi,
    How long is a page on the sender side?  If it is a long page like a legal page, it may end up in in 2 pages in the receiver side. Also check on the receiver end, if it is set to 'auto reduction - off' this may happen, try turning it "on".
    Also if the sender page is not a long page, try observing the paper that is going into the ADF, it should be 1 page at a time, if pages goes into the ADF continueously, it suggest that ADF is could be faulty.
    Set automatic reduction for incoming faxes (for HP printers only)
    The Automatic Reduction setting determines what the printer does if it receives a fax that is too large
    for the default paper size. This setting is turned on by default, so the image of the incoming fax is
    reduced to fit on one page, if possible. If this feature is turned off, information that does not fit on the
    first page is printed on a second page. Automatic Reduction is useful when you receive a Legal-size
    fax and Letter-size paper is loaded in the main tray.
    To set automatic reduction from the printer control panel
    1. From the printer control panel display, touch and slide your finger across the screen and then
    touch Setup.
    2. Touch Fax Setup.
    3. Touch Advanced Fax Setup.
    4. Touch Automatic Reduction to turn on or off.
